Hello Darien and New Canaan Community, March has arrived, and with it comes a renewed focus on the places we call home and the people who help make them feel complete. This month’s Home Issue brings together stories that inspire, inform, and celebrate our wonderful towns.
We’re thrilled to showcase this month’s student spotlight, Ava Schinella, whose energy and passion highlight the incredible talent growing in our own backyard. On the homefront, Diandra Schaffer and Jake Clifford share their expertise and partnership in helping families find their perfect living spaces—a reminder that community is built one home at a time. Adding a delicious touch to the season, be sure to try the festive shamrock-inspired green muffins made with matcha—just right for March’s celebratory spirit. We also shine a light on an important health topic by discussing endometriosis awareness, emphasizing the significance of education and support for women in our community.
Lastly, don’t miss our sneak peek of the Elevate Creative Women’s Summit, an event that honors female innovation and achievements in the arts, business, and more. Here’s to a March filled with fresh beginnings, vibrant homes, and a deeper appreciation for the people who help shape them.

Nantucket’s timeless charm is matched only by its ability to evolve, offering modern interpretations of coastal living while retaining the island’s storied heritage. Nestled in the tranquil Tom Nevers area, these homes redefine the luxury getaway, offering a perfect balance of coastal elegance, cutting-edge design, and unparalleled comfort.
Every detail within The Dips exudes craftsmanship, with bespoke millwork designed and fabricated on the island by master craftsman Egis Meidus of Meidus Builders. Whether you’re planning an indulgent escape or searching for the ultimate setting to entertain, The Dips deliver on every front. With private pools, hot tubs, and cabanas enhancing both homes, these retreats offer a truly elevated experience for guests looking to immerse themselves in the magic of Nantucket.

The heart of The Dips is designed for gathering, laughter, and unforgettable meals
The Dips are the realization of a creative partnership:
• Jibo Jibladze, owner and visionary, brought the dream to life.
• Anne Becker Designs infused the homes with impeccable style and craftsmanship.
• Holly Ruth Finigan, property marketing partner, ensures these exquisite retreats are celebrated as icons of coastal living.
As brand-new builds, The Dips pair impeccable craftsmanship with thoughtful, modern design. While their shingled exteriors pay homage to Nantucket’s iconic architecture, the interiors boast contemporary elegance, blending traditional charm with sleek finishes. Expansive porches and oversized windows invite natural light and breathtaking views into the homes, creating a seamless connection to their scenic surroundings.
Each home brings a distinct flavor to the property:
Big Dip: A grand retreat designed for large gatherings, Big Dip offers expansive living areas, a sparkling pool and hot tub, and a luxurious cabana ideal for entertaining. The open layout allows for effortless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, making it a perfect setting for celebrations of all sizes.
Little Dip: A more intimate escape, Little Dip is designed for quieter moments. Its cozy interiors, private pool and hot tub, and charming pool house create a serene environment for relaxation or hosting small groups.
Every detail, from the state-of-the-art kitchens to the spa-inspired bathrooms, has been meticulously crafted to ensure a luxurious and comfortable experience for all who visit.
The Dips were created with the art of entertaining in mind. Open-concept layouts offer seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living, allowing guests to fully embrace Nantucket’s coastal lifestyle. Wrap-around porches provide the perfect vantage point for enjoying morning coffee or evening cocktails, while the pools and hot tubs serve as the ultimate centerpiece for any gathering.
The pool houses at both Big Dip and Little Dip elevate the outdoor spaces further, offering flexible areas for lounging, changing, or hosting casual meals. Whether you’re enjoying a summer barbecue by the pool or a cozy autumn evening by the outdoor fireplace, the homes are designed to foster connection and create unforgettable memories.
A recent event at Big Dip showcased its potential as a stunning venue. Under a setting sun, the lawn and pool area became a chic outdoor dining space, styled with Tuckernuck’s tabletop collection. Guests enjoyed fresh seafood and seasonal fare, creating an unforgettable evening in a picturesque Nantucket setting.
Although The Dips are newly constructed, their thoughtful design ensures they feel rooted in the island’s heritage. The homes honor Nantucket’s architectural traditions while embracing the needs of modern living. Coastal hues, natural textures, and timeless materials create a harmonious aesthetic that ties the interiors to the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
"Nantucket is the location and The Dips is the destination.” Says Jibo Jibladze “With over 15,000 square feet of Ipe decking found throughout — the outdoor oasis has been described giving off the feels of its own country club.”
The Dips’ location in Tom Nevers provides a peaceful retreat while keeping you connected
to all that makes Nantucket special. Just a short drive away, the island’s cobblestone streets, boutique shops, and world-class dining await exploration. Visitors can spend their days biking along scenic trails, exploring pristine beaches, or indulging in local delicacies before returning to the serenity of The Dips.
Even on the property, there’s no shortage of ways to unwind. Whether it’s lounging by the pool, soaking in the hot tub under the stars, or enjoying a quiet morning on the porch with a cup of coffee, The Dips offer endless opportunities for relaxation and recreation.
The Dips redefine what it means to live luxuriously on Nantucket. By blending modern amenities with classic design elements, the homes create a space that feels both fresh and enduring. The interiors are as functional as they are beautiful, with sleek appliances, custom finishes, and carefully curated decor that exudes sophistication without feeling fussy.
“The Dips represent the perfect combination of Nantucket’s past and future,” says Holly Ruth Finigan, property marketing partner. “They’re spaces where every detail has been considered, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the island’s beauty and charm.”
Big Dip and Little Dip are more than just homes—they’re destinations. These newly built retreats offer the ultimate Nantucket experience, combining luxurious amenities, breathtaking design, and a deep connection to the island’s heritage. Whether you’re hosting loved ones, celebrating milestones, or simply seeking a peaceful escape, The Dips promise an unforgettable getaway that captures the very essence of coastal living.

DNCL: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE SERVICES YOU BOTH PROVIDE?
Diandra: As a realtor, I specialize in helping buyers and sellers navigate the often complex real estate market. I focus on understanding my clients' unique needs, whether they’re first-time homebuyers, investors, or those looking to upgrade. My experience spans over 5 years, and I’ve developed a deep understanding of the local market trends, property values, and the intricacies of negotiation.
Jake: I’m a mortgage broker with years of experience in helping clients secure financing for their homes. I provide personalized mortgage solutions, working with a wide range of lenders to find the best rates and terms for each client’s situation. Whether it’s a conventional loan, FHA, VA, non QM, DSCR or refinancing, I make sure my clients understand their options and feel confident in their financial decisions.
DNCL: WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF YOU BOTH WORKING TOGETHER AS A REALTOR AND MORTGAGE BROKER?
Diandra: The biggest benefit is seamless communication and coordination. When we work together, Jake and I can ensure that our clients get not only the best real estate deal, but also the best financing options. We speak every morning and night to recap our day and make sure nothing slips through the cracks! We’re able to guide our clients through every step of the process, making sure they’re never in the dark about timelines, expectations, or potential challenges.
Jake: By working together, we create a streamlined process. I can pre-approve clients quickly and let Diandra know exactly what they can afford, which helps her find homes that match their budget. I run numbers for every property as well before Diandra places the offers to make sure our clients are comfortable with their mortgage payments. We also stay ahead of any potential issues, whether it’s with the financing or the property, so clients don’t have to worry about surprises down the road.
DNCL: ANY ADVICE FOR THOSE LOOKING TO BUY A NEW HOME, ESPECIALLY IN TODAY’S HOUSING MARKET?
Diandra: Today’s market is competitive, with rising interest rates and inventory shortages in many areas. My advice is to act quickly, but also be prepared. Make sure you have your financing in order, and consider getting pre-approved before you start house hunting. This will give you an edge when making offers. Also, be flexible and open-minded about different neighborhoods or home features—you might need to adjust expectations based on availability and pricing. We always say, date the rate and marry your home!
Jake: It’s also important to have a solid understanding of your budget and what you can afford, especially with fluctuating rates. I recommend having a conversation with your lender early in the process to discuss all financing options. Getting pre approved early also ensures when the time is right, you will be ready! And remember, the lowest rate isn’t always the best deal, terms and fees matter too. We’ll work together to find the best solution for your financial goals.
“Jake and I can ensure that our clients get not only the best real estate deal, but also the best financing options.”

DNCL: WHAT’S ONE THING YOU HAVE BOTH LEARNED IN THIS INDUSTRY?
Diandra: One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of building trust with clients. People can sense when you are comfortable or nervous. I always make sure I come prepared to answer any questions they may have, which is usually many, and I’m ready and willing! Real estate transactions can be emotional and stressful, so my goal is always to make the process as smooth as possible. When clients trust you, it makes a huge difference in how they experience the process, and ultimately, in the results.
Jake: For me, it’s understanding that every client has unique needs and challenges. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, and flexibility is key. Whether it’s working with first-time buyers, veterans, or investors, tailoring my approach to each client ensures they’re not just getting a loan, but the right loan for them!

Celebrate Magical March With These Shamrock Inspired Green Muffins Made With Matcha!
These Matcha Muffins are so much fun for March and any St. Patrick’s Day inspired festivities, but they’re also delicious at any time of the year! Their green pigment comes from matcha and spinach – no food dyes! And the matcha provides that signature earthy flavor that is complemented so well by the sweetness in the bananas, honey and sugar. Whether pairing these muffins with eggs or a yogurt bowl for breakfast or enjoying them as a sweet pairing with coffee or tea, these are sure to become one of your favorite muffins!
• ¾ C whole milk
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 3 medium bananas, ripe or overripe
• 1 ½ C spinach, packed
• 3 grams matcha
• 2 large eggs
• Nonstick cooking spray
Yields: 18 muffins
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 ½ C all purpose flour
• ½ C rolled oats
• ¾ C sugar
• 2 Tbsp brown sugar, packed
• 1 Tbsp baking powder
• ¼ tsp salt
• ¼ C honey
• ½ C unsalted butter (1 stick)
• ¾ C plain, unsweetened whole milk Greek yogurt
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Melt butter and set aside so it can cool to room temperature.
3. Add milk, Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, honey, eggs, bananas (broken into thirds or quarters), spinach and oats to blender. Cover and blend until smooth and bright green.
4. In a separate large mixing bowl, add the flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and matcha. Combine with a large spoon or rubber spatula.
5. Pour liquid green mixture into the large bowl with the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Do not overmix.
6. Line a muffin tin with muffin/cupcake liners and spray with nonstick cooking spray (optional). Fill each muffin liner with batter. The batter should yield 18 muffins, which can be baked in 1 batch using a 12-muffin tin and a 6-muffin tin.
7. Bake in oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Without opening the oven, reduce the heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for an additional 25-30 minutes. A toothpick should be inserted and come out clean when done. Let muffins cool before removing from muffin tin and enjoying. Muffins can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. Enjoy!

HOW DO YOU GIVE BACK TO YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY?
One of my favorite ways of giving back to my local community is performing what my dance studio calls a “lecture demonstration”. This essentially is a mini version of the Nutcracker which we perform at Senior Centers like the Inn - Part of Waveny LifeCare, Atria Stamford, The Residence at Summer Street, the New Canaan Library, and many other places free of charge. This is a great way to share dancing with others and it allows me to engage with people in my community.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY?
Something I love most about my community is the sense of connection and support that exists within it. It’s a place where people genuinely care about one another, which creates a welcoming atmosphere. The New Canaan Library or Starbucks is where you will find most people my age after school, and I think places like these are so important to have as a further way to connect.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO GET INVOLVED?
I am motivated by the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others whether it’s

in or out of my community. It’s rewarding to contribute to projects or causes that help improve the local environment, support those in need, and nurture a sense of connection among people. Small actions can create ripple effects, building a stronger, more supportive community.
WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU LEAVE US WITH?
The best piece of advice I’ve ever heard was from my dance teacher who said, "Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion".

Endometriosis is a chronic, systemic condition affecting 1 in 10 reproductive-age women, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood and underdiagnosed health conditions globally. It occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing debilitating symptoms such as chronic fatigue, digestive issues, and pain that interferes with daily activities, relationships, and mental health. Delayed diagnosis, which can take an average of 7-10 years, often prevents women from accessing timely, effective care and exacerbates their symptoms. During Endometriosis Awareness Month, we aim to raise awareness, celebrate advances in treatment, and encourage others to seek the support they deserve.
Living with endometriosis brought years of debilitating pain that touched every aspect of my life—physical, emotional, and relational. As my symptoms worsened, I remained determined to find answers and proper care, ultimately leading me to Dr. Goldstein and her team at Esse Care in Greenwich. Dr. Goldstein specializes in reproductive surgery and wellness, offering a compassionate, holistic approach that prioritizes both medical treatment and overall health. At my first consultation, I finally felt heard, as she validated my experiences and helped me understand
ARTICLE BY GINA CARLOTO
how endometriosis was causing the symptoms I struggled with for so long. The care I received was extraordinary—not just in its technical precision but in the compassion and unwavering support I experienced every step of the way.
Dr. Goldstein’s expertise in minimally invasive gynecological surgery allowed her to perform laparoscopic excision surgery—the gold standard for endometriosis treatment. This approach removes lesions at their root, helping to reduce pain, restore function, and prevent recurrence. This surgery allowed me to regain control of my health, embrace life with renewed energy, and restore hope for the future—including the possibility of starting a family. Through her focus on both endometriosis excision surgery and holistic wellness, I’ve gone from merely surviving to thriving, moving forward with renewed strength, vitality, and a deep commitment to my well-being.
The foundation of wellness lies in recognizing our worth and prioritizing our health. My journey to prioritize my health and advocate for answers was deeply shaped by my mom’s courageous battle with cancer and her passing. Her immense courage and grace while navigating a devastating illness became my call to action. It embodied Ernest Hemingway’s sentiment: ‘Courage is grace under pressure.” Her experience taught me to be proactive about my health, advocate for answers, and find strength in adversity, inspiring me to found The Grace Collective (TGC @_thegracecollective) to honor her legacy.
As Miss Connecticut, I championed TGC’s mission through initiatives aligned with its pillars—Health, Education, Advocacy, and Lifestyle (HEAL). These same principles guided me as I navigated my health journey, competed at Miss America, and transformed my experience into a purpose-driven mission. Today, I feel healthier and stronger than ever. Through TGC and my advocacy, I strive to inspire others to prioritize their health, uplift their communities, and face life’s challenges with resilience and grace. This Endometriosis Awareness Month, let’s come together to prioritize women’s health, raise awareness about endometriosis, and celebrate the strength of those who advocate for answers and healing.
