Welcome to CSRA City Lifestyle

There’s something exciting about a fresh start — and I’m thrilled to welcome you to the very first issue of CSRA City Lifestyle. This magazine is the result of merging our previous editions into one publication that represents the entire Central Savannah River Area — one community, one voice, one shared story.

While our name is new, our heart and mission remain the same: to celebrate the people, places, and local businesses that make the CSRA such a special place to call home.

In this first issue, we’re highlighting A&D Carpets & Hardwoods, a family-owned business with deep roots and over 45 years of service to our area. We’re also sharing a comforting recipe from Chef Bill Coxwell of Sweet Azalea Gourmet Shop & Catering, sure to be a new favorite at your table.

You’ll meet the woman behind Card My Yard, bringing joy to front lawns and big life moments, and hear from Dr. Beau Gedrick of Flex Health as he introduces an innovative technology designed to improve patient care. We’re also sharing a look at the future of the Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as they prepare to open a new location in Grovetown.

And if you’ve ever wondered about the story behind the magazine itself, we’ve included a little piece of that too.

Thank you for reading and for being part of this next chapter with us. I can’t wait to see where we go together.

The team at A&D Carpet and Hardwoods brings expertise, quality, and a personal touch to every project

Creating Beautiful Spaces

ARTICLE BY MICHELLE PARNELL PHOTOGRAPHY BY ACUITY PHOTOGRAPHY

For almost fifty years, A&D Carpet and Hardwoods has been a premier supplier of flooring for homes and businesses in the CSRA. Founded by Angela and David Key, the tradition of providing high quality products with exceptional customer service continues with each client who walks through their doors.

“It’s a pleasure to work with the community and have the opportunity to help our clients with design work and lead them to a product based on their home’s particular needs,” shares Davina Key-Strickland, Sales and Marketing Manager.

The team at A&D recognize that the process of designing a space and choosing flooring types and colors can be overwhelming, especially with so many options on the market. So they make it a priority to sit down with clients and help them narrow the scope of what would be the best fit for their project.

“Because everyone’s home is so unique, we listen to every client and make sure we understand the goals of each project,” says Davina. “All our design consultants have a great way of gathering information from our clients and pulling out samples, because most people don’t know where to start.”

Narrowing down choices in the showroom is a great first step, but the true transformation begins when the pieces begin to come together in the actual space. “I think for all of us, our favorite part is going into a home and helping bring someone’s vision to life,” Davina explains. “It’s exciting to see these new potential products in their space with their lighting, furniture, and cabinets. We can also pair products together and help select things like paint colors and backsplash or shower tiles to bring the whole design together.”

I think for all of us, our favorite part is going into a home and helping bring someone’s vision to life.

In areas with heavy foot traffic or where children and pets are present, it is important to select a material that can withstand daily wear and tear. “Hardwood is lovely and beautiful as it is, but one of the characteristics of hardwood is that it can get scratched and indented and it does not like moisture,” says Davina. “There are new options that look very realistic, like laminate or luxury vinyl, that offer a higher resistance to damage from pets and are more kid friendly.”

Once the design is set and materials are ordered, A&D uses their own in-house craftsmen who are CFI certified installers, have passed background checks, and are part of a trusted team, to complete projects. Using certified

installers instead of subcontractors protects clients and maintains the product’s warranty.

For the team at A&D, building relationships is a priority, something reflected in the many loyal clients and consistent referrals they have earned over the years. “I hope that people who come visit us sense that we truly want to help them,” says Davina. “From the first time they step into the showroom until we walk out the door with the final product, we want their experience with us to be not only streamlined, but a pleasure.”

The A&D Carpets and Hardwoods showroom is located at 320 South Belair Road in Augusta. For more information and to set up a free in-home design consultation, visit www.aanddcarpets.com or call 706-863-8879.

A BIG WAY TO CELEBRATE!

Spreading joy and encouragement with Card My Yard Augusta

A few years ago, Julie Blankenbeckler scheduled a yard message for a loved one who lives in Maryland, and it made her smile all day when she thought about how the recipient would feel coming home to the special message. That’s when she knew she wanted to bring that same joy to the CSRA and in 2022, she and her husband, Mark, started Card My Yard Augusta.

“Nobody gets mad when they are celebrated, whether that’s with a yard sign or something else,” says Julie. “They feel loved, validated, and special. Every now and then we get to see and be part of that celebration and it’s great!”

Yard signs provide countless options for celebrating people and events. Common themes include birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations, but Julie says the signs also celebrate other milestones. “We did a sign for a young boy who was very, very sick,” she remembers. “He had been hospitalized and was coming home for the first time in six months. We got to do a welcome home sign for him that was very special.”

This time of year, as teachers and students head back to school, having a special message to greet them brings a smile to their faces and adds a level of excitement to the occasion. “Signs welcoming students back to school are so fun,” says Julie.

“They give students and parents an opportunity to take a photo with the sign on their first day.” They also provide a fun way to document milestones, whether that is celebrating the graduating class, marking the beginning of a new grade, or cheering on teams as they head into competition.

Messages can be tailored for any occasion and Julie spends time getting to know details about the recipient of the sign to help highlight personalities and themes. She pays special attention to preferred colors, hobbies, mascots, and other individualized characteristics and can create customized graphics for brands and organizations. Signs can also follow party themes, serve as photo backdrops, and share important announcements, such as the birth of a baby or congratulations on retirement, with friends and neighbors.

The large signs serve as a powerful way to show support and motivate participants in fundraisers like the Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer Walks. Businesses also find the signs particularly effective in showing customer and employee appreciation as well as celebrating achievements. “We have helped businesses celebrate ribbon cutting ceremonies and it’s a very large way for businesses to make an announcement,” says Julie. “We’ve also partnered with realtors to advertise an open house or for a closing gift to clients to welcome them to their new home.”

For Mark and Julie, their work is more than simply sharing a message, it is a ministry of their hearts and a way to bring joy to others. “We put the love of Christ into every set up and we see each interaction as an opportunity to pray for each situation, each family, and each child that we come into contact with,” shares Julie. “We’ve also gotten to meet people that we would have never known otherwise.”

Whatever the occasion, Card My Yard Augusta provides extra fun to enhance the celebration. “If you have an idea, give us a call and let’s see what we can create together,” encourages Julie. “It’s a simple process. You place the order, then we come and do the rest. All you have to do is sit back and watch them smile.”

Leading the Way in Mental Health Innovation

FLEX HEALTH INTRODUCES EXOMIND

THERAPY TO THE CSRA

If you’ve ever wished for a doctor’s visit that didn’t feel rushed, impersonal, or stuck behind red tape, Flex Health in Evans, Georgia, is here to change the experience.

Founded by Drs. Beau and Brooke Gedrick, Flex Health is a physician-owned concierge medical clinic focused on whole-person, relationship-based care. With a direct-access membership model, patients enjoy same-day appointments, longer visits, and 24/7 access to their physician— without the copays or insurance barriers typical of today’s healthcare system. It’s a modern, patient-first approach that allows care to happen on your terms—whether in-person, over the phone, or virtually.

Now, the clinic is raising the bar even higher with a new offering that’s already making waves: ExoMind therapy.

“We don’t just want our patients to feel better temporarily—we want their brains to function better permanently,” says Dr. Beau Gedrick. ExoMind is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared neuromodulation therapy developed by BTL Industries. Using targeted electromagnetic pulses via ExoTMS™ technology, it stimulates the brain centers responsible for mood, focus, and emotional regulation— essentially helping the brain rewire itself for healthier, more stable function.

Unlike medications or conventional therapy, which can take weeks or months to show results, ExoMind is fast, drugfree, and requires zero downtime. “Most providers focus on symptoms. We focus on systems—and solutions that actually work,” Dr. Beau Gedrick explains. “ExoMind supports neuroplasticity, helping the brain heal itself long-term.”

Currently, Flex Health is the only clinic in the region offering ExoMind therapy, integrating it into a broader suite of treatments that includes ketamine infusions, functional rehabilitation, hormone therapy, and more. ExoMind pairs especially well with ketamine for patients with treatment-resistant depression or anxiety. Many patients have reported noticeable improvements within a few sessions, such as a lifted mood, clearer thinking, better

focus, and improved sleep. One patient even described the experience as feeling “lighter, like the weight finally lifted.”

Designed to support those dealing with depression, PTSD, brain fog, and even disordered eating, ExoMind also appeals to people seeking to avoid medications—or who haven’t found relief through traditional methods. It has also been used to help with performance anxiety, menopause-related cognitive fog, and emotional burnout.

While ExoMind is the newest addition to their offerings, Flex Health provides a comprehensive menu of services designed to support physical, emotional, and neurological wellness all in one place. Services include primary and urgent care, to include but not limited to; sports medicine with in house ultrasound and x-ray, stemwave regenerative therapy, PRP, stem cell therapy and joint injections. DOT, pre employment, and sports physicals, functional rehab, hormone replacement therapy, weight loss programs, and osteopathic manipulation. Patients also have access to body sculpting with Emsculpt Neo, urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction treatments with Emsella, aesthetic services like laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation. This wide-ranging approach means patients can receive highly personalized care that addresses the full spectrum of their health and wellness needs—without having to visit multiple offices. All members have the convenience and access we all crave from our medical providers.

And while the technology is advanced, the environment at Flex Health is intentionally approachable. “If you like long waiting times, uncomfortable waiting rooms, and elevator music, we are not for you,” Dr. Beau Gedrick jokes. “We’ve created a place where patients feel safe, seen, and empowered.”

Flex Health is located at 4490 Washington Road, Suite 2, in Evans, Georgia. To learn more about their full range of services, visit FlexMyHealth.com or call 762-930-3539.

THE CENTER FOR ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY HEADS TO GROVETOWN

EXPANDING A LEGACY

“WE

After more than 50 years of service across the CSRA, the Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is growing once again. The practice is set to open

serve patients in this expanding area of our community,” David adds.

With a team of six board-certified oral surgeons, CFOMS has built its

LOOK FORWARD TO BEING IN THE HEART OF GROVETOWN AND TO SERVE PATIENTS IN THIS EXPANDING AREA OF OUR COMMUNITY.”

a brand-new location in Grovetown, Georgia, with doors expected to open in fall 2025.

Conveniently located just off I-20 at 750 Gateway Center Boulevard, the Grovetown office will mark the practice’s fourth location. “As our practice grows and two surgeons join us, the expansion into Grovetown means even better accessibility for our referrals and our patients to be seen for their oral surgical needs,” says David Nye, Practice Manager. “Our hope is that the Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is convenient for everyone in the CSRA.”

The CSRA continues to grow rapidly, with Grovetown leading the charge as one of the area’s most vibrant and expanding communities. For the Center of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, choosing Grovetown as the next step was a natural fit. “We look forward to being in the heart of Grovetown and to

reputation on decades of compassionate, cutting-edge care. Their services include wisdom tooth removal, dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, and more — all provided with a patient-first approach. “We’ve led with integrity and consistency spanning five decades,” David says. “Our goal is always to provide high-quality outcomes that are in harmony with our referring dentists, orthodontists, and other providers.”

The new location is just one more step in a long-standing mission to meet patients where they are — with trust, experience, and heart.

PAGES OF Our Story

A GLIMPSE INTO THE HEART BEHIND CSRA CITY LIFESTYLE
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ADRION BELL

I’ll never forget the day our very first magazine arrived in the mail. I held it in my hands and cried. It was the product of months of learning, late nights, prayer, and faith that this dream could actually become something real.

After homeschooling for many years, I found myself praying for a new season—one where I could step back into entrepreneurship and still keep family at the center. I’ve always been a social person. Growing up in Columbia County, I loved feeling connected to my neighbors and getting to know the stories behind the faces in our community. Supporting locally owned businesses has always been important to our family, and I’ve long believed that every person has a story worth telling. With all those things considered, starting a magazine that focuses on local life, community

connections, and meaningful stories just felt like a natural next step.

In August 2019, we mailed out our first issue of Evans City Lifestyle and celebrated with a launch party filled with community support. From day one, it’s been a family business—our kids pitching in, cheering us on, and growing alongside the magazine.

We’re honored to tell the stories of the people who make the CSRA such a special place— and we’re just getting started.

In October 2020, my son and I launched Augusta City Lifestyle , and together, the two magazines flourished.

Today, I’m proud to introduce CSRA City Lifestyle , a new name representing the best of both publications and expanding our reach to even more families across the area we love.

It’s been a journey of growth, faith, and deep community roots. We’re honored to tell the stories of the people who make the CSRA such a special place—and we’re just getting started.
