Community members donate money to adopt ducks to participate in the event. “Approximately $4 of every duck sold goes directly to area charitable organiza tions,” Jim says.
“Further – we partner with our grant recipients through a program called Buck-A-Duck, where the nonprofit sells ducks, and the Club gives $1 for each duck sold by the non-profit organization to them right way. It’s a win/win for all involved,” Nicole says.
The easiest way to purchase a duck is by visiting RhythmsAtTheRiverWalk.com. Some Duck Adoption Pop-Ups can be found around the community. Cross Timbers Rotary Club members also sell ducks.
The inaugural event raised more than double the amount organizers anticipated. “It really was unbelievable,” Ginger says. “The best part is giving our proceeds to local charitable partners so they can continue their good works in our community.”
“In the first four years of our event, we’ve been able to raise well over $325,000 toward helping local nonprofit organizations. Our hope is to give even more out in 2023 as a result of the 2022 event,” says Nicole Smith Woodard, 2022-2023 Cross Timbers Rotary Club President-Elect and Co-Chair of the Rhythms at the River Walk Sponsorship Committee.

“With the funds that are raised from the event, Cross Timbers Rotary Club awards grants to local non-prof its through a grant application process each spring,” Nicole explains.
Each year the event has grown, says Jim Moll, 20222023 Cross Timbers Rotary Club President and Charter Member. “We have continued to add music, food and fun to create an event the Town of Flower Mound can be proud of,” he says. “This year we are planning to race more than 30,000 rubber duckies.”
Past grant recipients include Adaptive Training Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, CASA, Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas, Cloud 9 Charities, Communities in Schools of North Texas, Crazy Cool Family, Cross Timbers YMCA, Cumberland Youth and Family Services, Denton County Friends of the Family, Grace Like Rain, Hearts for Homes, Journey to Dream, Lewisville ISD Education Foundation, Span Inc./Meals on Wheels of Denton County, Metroport Meals on Wheels, Our Daily Bread, Ranch Hands Rescue, Refuge for Women – North Texas, Sower of Seeds, Winning the Fight and Your Home Team Cares.
FLOWER MOUND’S CHARITABLE EVENT OF THE SEASON JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER
On Saturday, Sept. 17, Flower Mound residents will gather at the River Walk to enjoy live music, tasty food, activities and a massive (rubber) duck derby. For the past five years, Rhythms at the River Walk has brought joy to the commu nity and raised thousands of dollars for local charities.
“In the first meeting of the six founders of the Cross Timbers Rotary in May 2015, we brainstormed about a fundraiser. We were dreaming at the time, but we knew we wanted something big and regional at the River Walk,” says Ginger Eads, 2019-2020 Cross Timbers Rotary President and Charter Member. A few years later, Rhythms at the River Walk was conceptualized, and Rotary members decided to use the waterway at the River Walk to conduct a duck derby to raise money. “The rest is history,” Ginger says. “We held our first fundraiser in September of 2018, racing 14,952 ducks and netted $62,000.”

The first 10 finishers of the Duck Derby will win Visa Gift Cards with a top prize of $2,500.
OUR TOWN | ENTERTAINMENT20
Rotarian of the Year and 2022 Duck Commander Bruce Schultes vividly describes the day … “When you first arrive at the event, your senses may become overwhelmed. Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice is your ability to park right inside the event. No walking for several minutes or riding a bus to get to the activities. Because you’re so close to the event already, your sense of smell may tingle first. Is it the aroma of the five-star restaurants or the numerous food trucks making your mouth water? Maybe you’ll see the hundreds of children playing in the ‘Kid Zone.’ With face painting, bounce houses, mini-duck races and numerous other activi ties available, children of all ages will not be disappointed. Maybe you’ll hear the sound of music coming from several different directions. Maybe you’ll feel the vibrant anticipation of 30,000 ducks ready to race toward the finish line…”
One thing is for sure, Rhythms at the River Walk is a celebration not to be missed. And it just keeps getting better, year after year.
For those who have not seen the derby, it is a sight to behold. “Thirty-thousand rubber ducks will be released from the top of the waterfall,” Jim explains. “From there, they will ‘race’ to the finish line over two additional waterfalls.”
Participants do not have to be present to win. But why miss the opportunity to cheer for yourWhileduck?the ducks race along the River Walk waterway, attendees can enjoy live music, food, shopping and children’s activities.

For Laura Tully of Argyle, Lacrosse is not only something at which she excels, it is something that has helped her forge friendships and become part of a community.
“As a freshman, (Laura) has significantly impacted our team by leading by example and showing her peers how hard work pays off. In the last nine months, Laura has made the varsity girls lacrosse team as a freshman, selected for the 2022 National Tournament Team Texas and made Nike’s American Select Texas team,” says EDMONDSON,

When Laura and her family moved from New York to Argyle in 2021, Laura joined the Flower Mound Girls Lacrosse Team to further her development in the sport and to meet others. Little did she know she would go on to compete at the state level and ultimately represent her new home state in the USA Lacrosse National Tournament.

“He started me at a young age and ever since I picked up a stick, I loved it,” Laura says. “It’s a very unique sport, and that’s what makes it special.”
“When we weren’t on the field practic ing or in the gym conditioning, we were together watching film, writing down notes on how we can improve,” Laura says. “We worked so hard every practice, and it paid off as a team.”

Laura says her commitment to the sport means spending as much time as possible training and learning with her team.
Laura says her dad, Brian, inspired her to take up the sport, which he played at Syracuse University.

Though some may be unfamiliar with it, lacrosse is the oldest organized sport in North America and is one of the most rapidly growing team sports in the coun try. Lacrosse is extremely physical - played with a lacrosse stick and lacrosse ball – and requires good hand-eye coordination, speed and stamina.
“This team has been instrumental in Laura’s lacrosse development, as she has had her best year yet playing the sport,” says Becky Tully, Laura’s mother. “Coach Gabby pushes Laura to her limits making her stronger and faster, as well as placing her on the varsity team as a freshman. Laura practiced and played on both varsity and JV Beingteams.”apart of both teams meant twice the work, but that only made Laura a stron ger player, says Brian Tully, Laura’s father. “Putting in twice the work the past year, as well as playing with girls four years older than her on varsity undoubtedly prepared her for USA Team Texas tryouts.”
“It is a very difficult sport,” Laura says. “Not only must you have the stick skills, but you also need the endurance and speed. I think it’s a sport that you need to be tough for mentally and physically.”
Laura’s parents credit Coach Gabby and the team for helping Laura to excel at the sport.

Our coaching staff focuses on more than just making a complete lacrosse player; we focus on giving our players the tools we believe can make them successful in all aspects of their lives.”
“This spring, we graduated nine seniors, and seven of those players will be playing at the collegiate level with NCAA scholarships this fall,” Coach Gabby says. No doubt Laura will be on that list of scholars one day.
“At this trajectory, the sky’s the limit for Laura, and we can’t wait to watch her continue to grow this upcoming season,” Coach Gabby says.

“I love the structural part of the design.”
A his and her bathroom retreat worthy of a magazine feature.
“My goal when I see a new space is always seeing what can be done to streamline and give the clients more usable space. Sometimes we have to move walls, and sometimes, just putting the right cabinetry in place makes it more functional,” she says. “I love the structural part of the design.”
“Chelsi and I saw this a few years ago and have been wanting to find the right client for this application,” Lucie says. “It’s manly, sultry and makes a statement. Our clients are empty nesters and wanted a grown-up master suite retreat. The husband also wanted his mark in this bathroom, so this white oak wood paneling was perfect for the space.”Laminated marble countertops were used
The cabinetry is painted Natural Tan by Sherwin Williams – a neutral color that works well with warmer finishes but is light enough to compliment the white walls and“Ittrim.iswarm and feels luxurious,” Lucie says. But perhaps the most stunning elements of the bathroom are the wood-paneled walls behind the vanities and tub.
What do you get when you boldly blend traditional and contemporary styles?
Lucie and Chelsi designed storage towers flanking the van ity to add storage and sparkle. “We love adding towers when we have the space,” Lucie says. “With the mirrored antique glass inserts, one doesn’t have to be super tidy on the inside, while the glass adds another illuminating element.”

If you are a sneakerhead or hang out on Instagram fash ion sites, you are probably familiar with the iconic Golden Goose sneakers. These “kicks” are the brainchild of Venetian designers Alessandro Gallo and Francesca Rinaldo, who launched their own luxury lace-up line in 2007. The shoes elicit a sporty to glam look with their relaxed lines and pops of sparkles and patterns. The first model, the Super-Star, is still a best seller today due to its classic yet contemporary design. The shoes retail for $500-$800 a pair but evoke such a passionate following people are willing to pay it. Of course, you can check out re-sale sites such as The RealReal and Poshmark for better deals and past styles, but they don’t last long and aren’t without expense - often running $300 or Whatmore.makes these shoes so popular? They look scruffy and worn and depending on the style can be pretty basic. Here are a few reasons why the GGDB cult is going strong without signs of waning. The streetwear shoe is designed to look worn-in but is hand crafted to the high standards of a formal leather shoe. The shoes are not mass produced and every shoe is unique, one of a kind made by hand. Master cobblers use premium smooth Italian leather – not synthetics. That sense of individuality and artisanship is appealing, and you can even work with a Sneaker Maker for greater customization. Plus, these shoes last even when wearing them 24/7 – the quality is second to none. Golden Goose shoes are comfortable, as well as stylish. Each pair of sneakers is made with a wedge built into the heel which makes the wearer an inch or so taller and offers support. Few have expressed concerns about comfort online since the shoes are “worn in,” but if they do – a popular method to address this is using a blow dryer inside the shoe to warm up the leather. Then wearing the shoes without socks around the house. This molds the shoe to one’s foot for ultimate comfort according to some Arefashionistas.GoldenGoose shoes for you? That’s your call, but we can assure you – these shoes won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon.

Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Advisors ranking was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person, virtual, and telephone due diligence meetings to measure best practices; also considered are: client retention, industry experience, credentials, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, such as: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports.
