We can help you get there when you enter for a chance to win a 3-night weekend getaway trip to Nashville. Check out the story for all the deets. How fun and good luck! As travel resumes, we catch up with Tom Muench, local Expedia Cruises and Travel owner, for tips in “The Art of Travel.” If hitting the road in style is more your jam “Airstream of DFW” has you covered. Communities in Schools of North Texas Receives Multi-MillionDollar Donation
Local Emergency Medicine physicians purchase Rapid Med Urgent Care
Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott recently donated $133.5 million to the nonprofit Communities in Schools (CIS). CIS of North Texas will receive $3.3 million. CIS of the Dallas Region will receive $3.3 million, and CIS of Greater Tarrant County will receive $4 million. Each chapter partners with school campuses and offers daytime and after-school programming and mental health counseling, along with college and career preparation. CIS of North Texas will use the funds to maintain existing programs and grow its after-school programs and mental health services.
Dr. Eric Zahorecz and Dr. Sean Fleming are familiar faces at Argyle and Double Oak Rapid Med Urgent Care locations. They have been assisting with the transition in ownership for the past year. They also have worked at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Emergency Department for the past decade. Keeping Rapid Med family-owned and continuing to provide excellent care to local communities are their top priorities.

Airstream of DFW ARTICLE BY MATT SMITH | PHOTOGRAPHY BY NANCY FARRAR
Locally Situated, Customer Oriented Dealership Offers Value and Adventure

From family fun to desires of exploring the great wide open, Fort Worth's Airstream of DFW makes dreams come true, Director of Marketing Anthony Miller said. “RV ownership in general is a kind of lifestyle,” Miller said. “People often start with something small, then go up to something big as their family grows, then back to something small as they get older.” Airstream of DFW facilitates such dreams through a combination of personal touch and local ties. “Our welcome folder say, 'Welcome to our family,'” General Manager and Partner Colby Cannon said. “That's how we feel.” A sentiment, Miller said, that extends beyond mere platitude. “We don't say service,” Miller said. “It's always customer service, always customer focused.” Airstream, at 109 N. Chandler Dr., is part of the Vogt family dealership group, a family with long ties to Cowtown and the RV industry. Virgal Vogt opened Twin Points Camp on Eagle Mountain Lake in 1945 and Vogt Marine Dealership in 1950 on Belknap Street. Vogt also helped organize the Tarrant County Marine Dealers Association in 1958 and Fort Worth's first boat show that same year, according to Airstream's website. Sons Randy and Danny Vogt subsequently developed Vogt's RV and travel trailer dealerships of which there are now four including Airstream of DFW. “That's the largest thing,” Cannon said when asked what differentiates Airstream from other dealerships. “We're family owned and operated where so many dealerships are corporately owned. It's just a different vibe and feeling.” Miller agreed. “A lot of other places, you can't go in and talk to the guy who owns the company,” Miller said. “You'd have to go through 75 layers of people. That's not the case here.
There's always someone here who has an ownership stake in the business who's willing to talk to you. “We also have very low turnover in our sales staff and employees with many who have been here 10-plus years. That's unusual because a lot of dealerships, you go in Saturday to look around then, when you go back the next Saturday, there's a good chance whoever you talked to that first time is no longer there. “Customers appreciate and feel comfortable with that, going in and seeing the same faces they saw last time they were here. It also means our sales and service team members know their stuff.” Airstream's central location — two additional Vogt Fort Worth centers, one dedicated to service, the other selling Jayco and other RV brands — adds to convenience. “A lot of RV dealers are quite a bit outside the Metroplex,” Miller said. A visit to Airstream's showroom elicits nostalgia and a call to the open road. The sleek, silver trailers though modern on the inside hark back to the '50s and '60s exterior wise. “They really haven’t changed much,” Miller said. “Airstream has been around since 1931, the oldest RV manufacturer in the world. Between 65 percent to 75 percent of everything they've built since then is still on the road. That's a pretty unique statistic.” Staff constantly seek ways to improve including the dealership's same day service of warranty claims. “That's not the way of the RV industry,” Miller said. “Typically RV service appointments involve a two to four week process. We're trying to change the game by actually doing everything we can to get you in and out in one day.” Fifty percent of buyers are first timers, Miller said, but they tend to become customers for life. “Airstream has been around since 1931, the oldest RV manufacturer in the world. Between 65 percent to 75 percent of everything they’ve built since then is still on the road. That’s a pretty unique statistic.”
Prices run the gamut from Jaycos starting at about $12,000 to those and other models falling everywhere in between and into the $100,000 plus range. Customers span the spectrum from young families to empty nesters. “Used to be a lot of baby boomers but the millennials have kicked in now too,” Cannon said. “Realizing the ability to control your environment RVs offer.” From large to small, business decisions at Airstream of DFW filter through four questions: what's best for our customers, our partners, our team members and the bottom line, in that order Miller said.
20
D R IV E R’S N OT E BOOK | AUTO + MARI NE
“Every decision we make goes through those four questions,” Miller said. “We're selective in the products we sell and have to make money to keep the doors open obviously. But I think it's pretty unusual that we put the bottom line at the end.” It's about positive customer experience, Cannon said. “Family fun and making memories,” Cannon said. “Especially in this day and age when kids are attached to their electronics and the spirit of adventure to get out and see what the Lord made.” This article originally was published in West Fort Worth Lifestyle.

Tucked behind lush greenery in the heart of Little Forest Hills stands a home that would be the envy of Thoreau. With its warm, rustic elegance amid a fairytale botanical setting, it is no wonder that the Dallas Treehouse is one of the most sought-after vacation homes in the state of Texas. Located just one mile from the Dallas Arboretum and minutes away from White Rock Lake, the Dallas Treehouse is the perfect staycation for art and nature enthusiasts. The home was constructed in 1988 as an artist studio and transformed over the years. Danielle and Scott Kaserman purchased the home in 2013 and lived there for four years before offering it as a vacation destination. “The living room with expansive floorto-ceiling windows and the loft were the original structure. The owner we purchased the Treehouse from added on the atrium/ entryway, primary bedroom suite, kitchen, dining room and front patio. A labor of love carefully spending over 13 years to build and design the space incorporating the garden,” Danielle says. When the Kasermans decided to move from the home, they didn’t want to sell it to a single owner. Instead, they wanted many to experience its beauty. “We strongly felt that the house should be shared with others to give a different perspective of what home can be while also providing peace, connection and relaxation to anyone who came to experience a unique stay,” Danielle says. Part of the wonder of the home is its seamless transition from structure to garden. “The garden and house truly interact throughout the year with the ever-changing palette of the tree canopy and garden,” Danielle says. “As the Japanese Maples bloom in spring and change again in the fall with brilliant colors of orange and red. In summer, the garden is extremely green and lush to the point where you aren’t able to see the house from the street view.” Winding gravel paths and a footbridge over Ash Creek lead to the Treehouse entry. Once inside, natural elements fill the space – celebrating its surroundings. “There are layers and layers of natural elements – stone, limestone, different types of wood, cinder blocks – used, and many are repurposed materials,” Danielle explains. “The stone in the living room was originally in Clint Murchison Jr.’s pool house; the grey wood you see in the doorways and around windows was originally the SMU bleachers; hardware used on drawers in the kitchen and primary bathroom sinks are old USPS mail chutes.” The style of the home blends Bauhaus contemporary and rustic elements to create a comfortable and
enchanting setting. Each décor piece was thoughtfully chosen for the space – especially the art. “The blue Matisse print in the living room was purchased at the Rodin Garden Museum in Paris. This is a very special piece to us, as it commemorates our trip where Scott proposed to me,” Danielle says. “The water lily painting up in the primary bedroom and the clay sculptures around the house were all done by my husband, Scott.” The Treehouse has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps four. With a large, jetted tub in the primary bathroom and a beautiful kiva fireplace in the living room, the setting is ideal for couples seeking a romantic getaway. The Dallas Treehouse is more than just a destination. It truly is an experience. “Lighting changes and the house becomes magical at different times of day whether it’s sunshine dancing onto the stone wall in the living room during the golden hour at around 3 p.m., listening to the stream on the front porch, sitting by the fire when evening comes along, the Dallas Treehouse is truly magical!” To learn more about the Dallas Treehouse, visit bit.ly/3uEMR1C and follow @thedallastreehouse on Instagram.

TOM MUENCH WITH EXPEDIA CRUISES OFFERS TRAVEL ADVICE FOR THOSE SEEKING THE ULTIMATE GETAWAY THIS SUMMER

The Art of Travel

M UST SE E | TR AVEL
With summer quickly approaching, it’s time to dust off those suitcases and plan an epic vacation. But these days, there is an art to booking the perfect adventure. Tom Muench, Expedia Cruises Franchise Partner, has perfected the art of travel and offers some advice to those seeking the ultimate getaway. “A lot has changed with the travel world over the last two-plus years and will continue to remain fluid. We spend countless hours educating ourselves about our partners’ destinations, and we are here to help navigate this new travel world on our client’s behalf,” Tom says. Most importantly, Tom advises that travelers plan early and expect crowds this year. “There is so much pent-up demand, and many clients have travel credits that need to be used before they expire putting more pressure on the 2022 inventory,” he says. Also, many travelers who may have skipped lavish vacations for the past two years are now ready to go all out. “It is not uncommon to see couples or families spend north of $50,000 for a vacation,” he says. “The demand for world cruises is at an all-time high, and some cruise lines have sold out their world cruise in less than a day.” Many families also are planning multigenerational vacations this year to reconnect, Tom says, adding that cruises are an excellent choice. “There are many cruise brands that cater to families – Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian to name a few
— where the ship is sometimes the destination. Cruise lines continue to enhance the on-board experience from the family suites to the many dining options to the Broadway-style entertainment and activities on board for all ages,” he says. Some on-board activities include zip lining, ropes courses, FlowRider, ice skating, roller coasters, racetracks, water slides, water parks and kids clubs. “A cruise often mixes a few sea days into the itinerary offering time to chill, as well. Major cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean, have their own private islands, such as Perfect Day at CocoCay, which offers Thrills and Chill experiences depending upon your mood,” Tom says. Travelers should think of cruises as “floating all-inclusive resorts” with options available for all budgets, he says. For those who prefer to stay on land, Tom says traditional all-inclusive resorts are a good option for couples and families. “All inclusive” simply means that meals and most activities are included in the price. “There is a long list of all-inclusive brands that cater to couples and families,” he says. “Sandals has been around 40 years and is focused on couples, where their sister brand Beaches caters to families. Sandals has many new resorts that will open over the next year or so in many popular Caribbean destinations.” Tom suggests working with a professional to find out which adventure best suits travelers’ needs. “There are so many options and resources that it can be overwhelming. I am naturally going to suggest working with a travel agent, as we do this for a living. That is not to say do not do your own research, but let us help plan your vacation,” he says. “Our goal is not to book just one vacation, but to earn your trust and future business and to book all travel needs for you, your family and your friends." Tom says working with a travel agent does not mean additional cost for travelers. “People do not realize that the majority of the services we provide are free to the client, so they are not paying extra for expert advice and many times will find savings both in time and money,” he says. “You will not save money booking direct with a cruise line, have exclusive promotions, and a travel agent will offer options that a client may not think of. Plus, you are supporting a local business owner.” Expedia Cruises is a locally owned, full-service, brick-and-mortar travel agency backed by the No. 1 brand in travel. Expedia Cruises can assist with all or certain portions of one’s vacation plans. The company is actively recruiting for new travel consultants, as well. For more information, visit expediacruises.com/en-US/TomMuench.
Fly: Consider a charter flight. “Charter flights offer some amazing savings to popular destinations like Cancun and Punta Cana, and the rate difference is justifiable even if you have to pay for luggage,” Tom says.
St ay: Share your vacation vision with a travel agent. “They are there to help you find the best vacation experience and want you, your family and friends as clients for life.”
E x plore: Excursions can enhance the vacation experience. “There are excursions for all ages, activity levels and interests. Some excursions we recommend booking early because there may be limited availability.”

America’s Top Wealth Advisors ranking was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person and telephone due diligence meetings and a ranking algorithm that includes: client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports.
