Over the past 30 years, Bayer Fund has given SLSO more than $8 million to sustain IN UNISON programs.
St. Louis County Named Triple Crown Winner For Financial Reports
Bayer Fund, the philanthropic arm of Bayer, donated $160,000 to St. Louis Symphony Orchestra to support the orchestra’s IN UNISON programs, including the IN UNISON Church Program, IN UNISON Chorus, and IN UNISON Academy for the 2022/2023 season. SLSO’s IN UNISON programs serve 15 counties in the bi-state region and impact 11,000 people each year.
St. Louis County was named a Triple Crown Winner by the Government Finance Officers Association for having received the association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This is the first time St. Louis County has been awarded the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award for its Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year 2020.

Sisters Abigail and Gabrielle Stahlshmidt have come to be known as "St. Charles County’s own," as the two brilliant, young beauties have excelled in entertainment careers typically reserved for Hollywood and the Big Apple.

An internationally recognized electric violinist and professional model, Abigail is currently working on a solo album in Nashville, after finishing touring with the European symphonic-metal band, Vivaldi Metal Project. Along with shows in Italy, Amsterdam and Finland, she toured Bulgaria and shot a fashion editorial with Elle m agazine while there.
“We’ve both been supported by our hometown community in so many ways,” Abigail says. “Gabrielle and I have seen our community cheer us on time and time again. When I look back, it’s truly incredi ble to see how many of our memories and friendships have been made here, and just how many people have supported us at various points in our careers. This is a full circle moment for my sister and I, and we’re so grateful.”
Holding a double bachelor’s degree, specializing in music instruction, vocal health/production, and the psychology of learning, Gabrielle is an accomplished vocalist and performer, and the name behind Gabrielle Studio of Music - St. Louis’s music studio. She also owns and directs Own Your Voice Academy and operates her own clothing line, Well Worn WordsAdornedCompany.in hand-picked clothing curated by Jerri Hoffmann from her new boutique, The Augusta Clothing Company, the sisters were photographed on location at the Sunflower Hill Farm—a beautiful, family-owned event venue and multi-functioning 24-acre farm in Augusta. Artists from St. Charles’ popular hair salon and spa, Cary O’Brien’s, did the sisters’ hair and makeup.

And for Jerri, retail seems to be in the genes. She says her great, great, great grandfather opened the first mercantile in Washington, Missouri. The building that housed the Kahmann Mercantile Store in the mid-19th century still stands at the cor ner of 2nd and Elm Streets in Washington.
Gabrielle says the honor was hers. “With both of our careers requiring so much of our individual attention, being able to spend the day together, while enjoying the incredible surroundings that our hometown has to offer, was truly special. There’s nothing better than being able to bond with your sister while dress ing up in beautiful fashions.”
Jerri says her clothes are for both young women and mature women who enjoy life and who don’t take themselves too seriously. "It’s fashion. It’s fun. And it’s a great creative outlet. We're bridging that gap between high-end couture and con temporary misses. It's classic, but with an updated look. We have a resort vibe, which we feel is perfect for the wine country.”

Augusta Clothing Company features women’s clothing and accessories—fash ions Jerri describes as classic ‘wine-coun try’ casual clothing, as well as posh and polished looks for an evening out. Augusta Clothing Company is part of the Hoffmann Family of Companies; Jerri and husband, David Hoffmann’s, privately owned con glomerate of more than 50 companies. Natives of Washington, Missouri, the cou ple has invested about $150 million in and around Augusta over the past year with plans to turn the region into an interna tional wine-tourism destination, similar to Napa Valley in California.

Jerri says outfitting the Stahlschmidt sisters in the heart of the wine region she’s invested so much in was a dream come true for her. “It’s been a dream of mine since I was a young woman,” she says. “It’s a sweet spot for me. And it’s a perfect fit with the way we are growing with Augusta. It was thrilling to see our clothes spring to life on these wonderful, accomplished young women,” Jerri adds. “They are not just pretty faces. They are amazing, young women, and St. Charles should be very proud of them.”

Women of all ages and all wonderful shapes and sizes are uniquely beautiful and deserve to be acknowledged, seen and celebrated, believes Danijela. "As a woman in my 40s, I can relate first-hand to women worrying about their age, looks or simply not feeling worthy enough to celebrate their age and body. This inspired me to partake in the global movement of photogra phers focusing on empowering women over 40 to embrace selflove and their beauty."
Portrait photographer Danijela Kandera is on a mission to photograph 40 women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond, in a transformational, empowering experience. To date, she's pho tographed women ages 42 to 84.

"This project has been very meaningful and fulfilling not only to the women participating but to me as their photographer, too. I'm already excited and planning the 2023 A Woman Empowered – 40 over 40 Project, starting in January," she info@dyrafaeliphotography.com announces.
At portrait reveals, Danijela says it's a delight to see and feel their excitement, and often tears of joy, for having indulged in this amazing portrait experience -- an experience that made them more confident about themselves and revealed how beautiful they already are.
She emphasizes the manner in which most women featured in commercials or other media are executed, delivers an unrealistic, unrelatable concept of beauty for many women of any age. "However, it hits even harder the 40-plus demographics, as they're featured much less in general. Yes, you see them as moms, grandmothers or business owners, but rarely only to celebrate their beauty," she adds.
As a photographer, Danijela says she's often met with shy resistance by older female clients about having their individual portraits taken, in addition to the ones taken with their pet, their family, or their significant other. She says insecurities often surface, followed by comments about aging and the feeling of "not being enough" anymore. "These are worries most women share," she reveals. "I heard them all and prom ised every woman I photographed that their session with me would be a safe space to celebrate them and their individuality with stunning portraits they will love and want to share with the world."
She's learned to explain the project in this overall way: "Picture this. You're looking at the portrait of the woman displayed on your wall, and you're com pletely mesmerized by her confidence and her beauty. There's something so powerful and so free about her. She's your inspiration on so many days you don’t feel so good about yourself, and she reminds you to cele brate yourself on the days that you rock the world. Now imagine this woman you admire so much on the wall portrait is YOU."

Susie and Lindsey, certified relocation specialists who reside in Chesterfield, say on average the Susie O. Johnson 10-member team sells a house every two days. Lindsey says this team has the longevity advantage of most of them working together for 15 to 18 years. "Our team has collectively handled $200-plus mil lion in housing sales over the past four years alone," Lindsey adds.

St. Louisans would be remiss discussing barbecue sauce without referencing Charlotte's Rib Barbecue. Pat and Herb Schwarz, Charlotte Peters' (First Lady of St. Louis televi sion) daughter and son-in-law, first opened Charlotte's Rib in Kirkwood in 1977. In 1978, they opened a new location in Ballwin, and later moved to the restaurant's current loca tion in the Claymont Shopping Center at the intersection of Kehrs Mill and Clayton roads. The restaurant's food is traditional St. Louis barbecue, which preserves old-school, spectacular flavors, especially with the Western Blend sauce that takes on a popular KC barbecue style as mild but full-bodied, and the Spicy Southern sauce that has a kick to it but doesn’t overpower the meat.
