LIFESTYLE LETTER

Style, Redefined

September 2026 PUBLISHER

Lisa Yockey | lisa.yockey@citylifestyle.com

We tend to think of style as something we put on: an outfit, a haircut, a well-chosen accessory. But style, at its truest, is something deeper. It's the care we bring to a choice, the intention behind a room, a routine, a smile, a meal. Style is less about what we have and more about how thoughtfully we live with it. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. As I've prepared for this back-to-school season, I've found myself considering style well beyond my closet, though I'll admit, choosing what to wear on the first day back has taken more thought than usual this year. I've thought just as much about the aesthetic of my office, the space where staff and students will sit across from me all year, and about the look and feel of our school as a whole. What does a welcoming office communicate before a single word is spoken? Style, I've realized, is one of the quiet ways we tell people they matter before we ever open our mouths. This issue, we're stretching that definition wide. Sometimes style is the first step toward reclaiming yourself. At Carol's Boutique inside the Dr. Carol B. Berz Family Justice Center, survivors rebuilding their lives are given the chance to choose: a favorite color, an outfit that fits right, a bag that feels like theirs. It's proof that style can restore dignity as much as it can express it. Sometimes style shows up in motion, like at Ember Movement Studio, where Kelly Hutt and Heather Heatherly help clients find the way of moving that lights them up. Sometimes it shows up in confidence, like at MDRN MUSE Dental Aesthetics, where a smile is reimagined as something that should feel unmistakably yours. Style lives at home, in the cozy spaces Tiffany Rich creates through Envision Home Staging and Design. It lives at the table, in the warm Mediterranean dishes at Massey's Kitchen. And sometimes, style is the art of slowing down altogether. At The Glamping Collective in Trenton, Georgia, Matt and Christina Bare have designed a mountaintop retreat where luxury domes, cliffside views, and thoughtful detail invite guests to disconnect from routine and reconnect with what matters. However you wear it, I hope this issue reminds you that style is care made visible. Cheers,

The

Glamping Collective

WHERE LUXURY MEETS THE MOUNTAINS ARTICLE BY THE GLAMPING COLLECTIVE Perched atop 37 mountaintop acres just outside Chattanooga in Trenton, Ga., The Glamping Collective reimagines what it means to escape. Here, stunning natural landscapes, striking design and thoughtful hospitality create an experience that feels both adventurous and effortlessly comfortable. For co-founders Matt and Christina Bare, the concept bloomed more than a decade ago during a trip to Costa Rica. Inspired by the country’s wild beauty and the way people value nature, they envisioned a place where guests could immerse themselves in some of the United States’ most striking environments without sacrificing comfort or modern amenities. After years helping other boutique hospitality brands grow, the couple brought that vision to

life with The Glamping Collective, first near Asheville and, this spring, in Chattanooga. Their goal was simple: create a destination to slow down and connect, where the accommodations are as memorable as the surroundings. Every detail of the Chattanooga property was designed to blur the line between indoors and out. Luxury domes feature sleek, natural-toned interiors and expansive window walls framing sweeping mountain views, while private decks invite guests to linger over coffee, unwind in a hot tub or gather around a fire table beneath the stars. Blackout curtains, king beds and luxe sheets ensure a rejuvenating sleep. Ultra Luxe Domes sit cliffside, offering expanded outdoor living space and uninterrupted vistas. Each accommodation also includes a thoughtfully equipped kitchenette with a fridge, countertop oven, Keurig, double burner plate, dinnerware, pots, pans and more. Beyond the domes, the retreat encourages guests to embrace the outdoors. Hiking trails wind across the mountaintop, community fire pits invite conversation and the

heated and chilled cliff-edge infinity pool, complete with a swim-behind 25-foot waterfall, offers one of the region’s most unforgettable places to take in the scenery. Every space encourages guests to disconnect from routine and reconnect with one another. Though it feels worlds away from everyday life, it’s only a short drive from celebrated outdoor destinations. Those eager to explore will find Cloudland Canyon, Lookout Mountain, Rock City, McLemore Golf Resort and countless hiking, biking and waterfall adventures all within about 30 minutes. Yet many guests discover the greatest luxury is having nowhere else they need to be. Whether planning an adventure with friends or family, a romantic getaway or simply looking to unplug, The Glamping Collective offers more than a place to stay. It creates space to reconnect, recharge and experience the mountains in a way that feels both refined and approachable. Learn more at theglampingcollective.com.

ENVISION HOME STAGING AND DESIGN ARTICLE BY EVE CRABTREE PHOTOGRAPHY BY RILEE WAGNER PHOTOGRAPHY

Tiffany Rich intentionally cultivates cozy, family-oriented atmospheres through home staging and interior design.

Tiffany Rich of Envision Home Staging and Design has always loved making her home a place that was comfortable and welcoming for her family. “I always enjoyed keeping up-to-date styles and making my home cozy so my family can relax,” Tiffany shares. When her son became a realtor, Tiffany started helping him by doing interior design and giving the houses he was selling a little tender love and care. It allowed them to spend more time together and support each other in their dreams. Prior to this, interior design had just been a hobby that Tiffany enjoyed doing for family and friends, as her career of over 20 years has been in healthcare administration. When her son started in the realty industry, she became interested in doing interior design as more than just a hobby. “I did a lot of praying for about a year, thinking through starting a business, seeing what that looked like, and realized that staging and designing homes was a good path for me because it was something I really enjoyed.” After this time of contemplation and prayer, and with the encouragement of her husband, three years ago she decided to take the leap and officially start her part-time business doing interior design work. Envision Home Staging and Design now offers services staging both vacant and occupied homes, as well as commercial jobs and interior design of model and spec homes. Tiffany loves the imaginative aspect of interior design and figuring out what will work for each house. “I look at the surrounding areas, what kind of homeowners are going to be there, and incorporate it all,” Tiffany explains. “I encourage clients and homeowners to share their vision and what design looks like for the next chapter of their lives.” Tiffany intentionally cultivates design that centers around family as well. “I love being able to design cozy spaces for families to share and build memories in,” she says. Tiffany’s husband, children, and grandchildren are incredibly important to her, so she pours that passion into every home she designs. “I love creating special family spaces if there is an extra room or office area that families don’t use,” Tiffany says. “I like turning it into something like a game area or sitting area with a reading nook; just a space for families to come together.” Her family is a huge part of her business as well, as she has the privilege of partnering with her realtor son on many projects and the rest of her family helps any way they can. “Everyone is involved in some capacity,” Tiffany shares. Her love for her family helps her put a little extra warmth into each space she designs. Tiffany couldn’t be more grateful for the support she’s received from her family and the community. “I appreciate every time the businesses of the community trust me to design their spaces,” Tiffany says. “I’m excited to be able to continue my dream and expand my business by helping homes, listings, and subdivisions become cozy and picture perfect.” To see more of Tiffany’s work and connect with her, visit EnvisionStagingTN.com and find Envision Home Staging and Design on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

MDRN MUSE Dental Aesthetics was created to redefine what a visit to the dentist feels like. Dr. Zack Youngblood envisioned a practice where exceptional cosmetic dentistry and genuine hospitality exist together, creating an experience as transformative as the smiles themselves. “My goal has never been to help people look like someone else,” Dr. Youngblood says. “It’s to help them become the most confident version of themselves. Every smile we create is designed to look natural and still feel like you.” Today, MDRN MUSE has become one of Chattanooga’s premier destinations for cosmetic dentistry, known for smile makeovers, porcelain veneers, Invisalign, and personalized treatment that enhances each patient’s natural features rather than creating a one-size-fits-all smile. The name itself reflects that philosophy. “MDRN MUSE stands for ‘Modern Muse,’” Dr. Youngblood explains. “The idea is simple. I want every patient to leave inspired by their own reflection. Instead of comparing themselves to someone else, they become their own muse.” Through a space that feels more like a boutique than a traditional dental office, Dr. Youngblood has intentionally

reimagined the patient experience. “Every detail inside MDRN MUSE serves a purpose,” he says. “From the calming atmosphere to advanced digital technology and longer consultations, we’ve designed every part of the experience to reduce anxiety and help patients feel genuinely cared for before treatment even begins.” Dr. Youngblood believes dentistry should be just as intentional about the patient experience as it is about clinical excellence. While the environment often catches people’s attention first, it’s the relationships and life-changing smile transformations that leave the biggest impression. “A smile shouldn’t make you feel like someone else,” Dr. Youngblood says. “It should make you feel more like yourself. When someone leaves our office feeling confident enough to smile without thinking twice, that’s why I do what I do.” Learn more at www.mdrn-muse.com or follow @mdrn.muse on Instagram to see real smile transformations and discover the patient experience that’s redefining dentistry in Chattanooga. NOUVADerm Laser Q & A with Sharlotte Manley Why Choose NOUVADerm?

What areas can be treated?

Your skin tells the story of your life. Sun exposure, aging, environmental stress and collagen loss can gradually change its tone, texture & strength.

Common treatment areas include the face, neck, chest, hands & scalp, including hair-restoration protocols. Also other areas with visible sun damage or textural concerns.

NOUVADerm helps your skin repair itself from the inside out– not by covering imperfections, but by stimulating your body's naturalhealing response.

What is the downtime?

NOUVADerm may be a good option for adults who want to improve visible sun damage, uneven texture or signs of aging without surgery.

Treatment intensity can be customized—from lighter treatments to deeper resurfacing—based on your goals and desired recovery time.

How many treatments are needed?

What issues can NOUVADerm address?

It depends on your starting skin condition, desired treatment intensity, and goals. Your treatment plan is personalized. Many patients benefit from a series of three, followed by periodic maintenance.

•

Stimulates new collagen and elastin for gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation

When will I see results?

•

Improves the quality of the skin instead of simply masking imperfections

Brighter-looking skin may be noticeable after the initial healing period. Improvements in texture and tone often continue over the following weeks, while collagen remodeling can progress for several months.

•

Targets fine lines, melasma, brown spots, rough texture, enlarged pores, acne scars and uneven tone

Is it expensive?

•

Renews chronically sun-damaged skin while improving its appearance

•

Offers meaningful rejuvenation with less recovery than many aggressive resurfacing procedures

Pricing varies based on your specific plan. Most people don’t realize that all of our services can be paid for with your HSA or FSA benefits. We also offer several payment options if necessary.

•

Helps you look healthier & more rested without looking overtreated

BEFORE

Whether your goal is healthier skin, fewer wrinkles, brighter pigmentation, acne-scar improvement or simply aging gracefully, NOUVADerm can deliver results that continue to improve for months after treatment.

Heather Heatherly and Kelly Hutt, co-owners of Ember Movement Studio, have combined experience in pole fitness, strength training, and yoga that led them to start Ember Movement Studio—a place where all of those styles of fitness and more are in one place. Their decision to offer so many workout styles was very intentional. “Previously, we were going to different studios to be able to do what we wanted to do movement-wise for our personal fitness,” Heather explains. “So, one of our core values is to be a multi-method

fitness facility that has everything under one roof. We believe in the value of the various modalities we offer and the value of cross-training.” Kelly and Heather have seen the impact on cross-training in their own health journeys and wanted to provide that for their members. “I have been in pole fitness for about eight years and done strength training and yoga for a number of years as well,” Kelly shares. “Getting to combine those and provide opportunities for other people with cross-training in a space where they can see the value of so many different things is really awesome.” Heather also enjoys the opportunity to incorporate different styles of fitness into her own routine and thus the classes she prepares for the studio. “While yoga has been my passion,” Heather says, “I found that I was incorporating more and more movement modalities into my own personal life and physical practice.” Having so many workout styles gives their clients the opportunity to find the fitness modality that brings the most joy. “Our tagline is ‘find your fire’ because we want people to find the style that really lights them up,” Kelly says. With their wide range of workout styles—including yoga, strength training, silks, hammock, lyra, and pole—there is a workout for everyone. They also offer kids classes twice a week, and their studio is open to all ages—men and women alike. Additionally, Ember Movement has a permanent new client special where they offer two weeks of classes for $30 so that

anyone interested can come, try out all Ember Movement has to offer, and find their fire. Kelly and Heather also make sure they offer classes for various skill levels, keeping their workouts hard but accessible. “We have modalities that are lower impact, a flexibility class, and different styles of yoga,” Kelly shares. “We want to make sure that we’re not just doing high impact with everything.” They also hope to introduce people to styles of workout that they may not have tried on their own. “One of our number one things is community, and we want to expose people to styles of training they would not have thought about trying,” Kelly says. “It was the community that brought us here and keeps us going, so seeing our clients and instructors try new things and feel their own success is so rewarding.” To connect with Ember Movement Studio and learn more, contact them through their website, EmberMovementStudio.com, Instagram @Ember. FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER

Dressed for a New Beginning

For survivors beginning again after abuse or violence, something as simple as choosing an outfit can represent far more than getting dressed. At Carol’s Boutique inside the Dr. Carol B. Berz Family Justice Center, clothing becomes a way to restore dignity, confidence, and choice. Named in honor of the late Dr. Carol B. Berz, the boutique serves individuals affected by domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, elder abuse, stalking and other forms of violence. Many arrive at the Family Justice Center after leaving dangerous circumstances with few belongings, regardless of their previous economic situation. Carol’s Boutique offers clothing, shoes, handbags and personal-care items at no cost, but its purpose extends well beyond providing necessities. “Choice is incredibly powerful, especially for someone whose choices have been controlled or taken away by an abusive partner,” says Deana Keys Lane, Coordinated Community Response Specialist.

32

G IV IN G BAC K | LO CAL SE RVICE S

Instead of being handed predetermined items, survivors are invited to browse the boutique and select pieces that feel right for them. Choosing a favorite color, finding an outfit that fits beautifully or picking out the perfect handbag can be a small but meaningful step toward reclaiming independence. That is also why the quality of donations matters. “High-quality, attractive clothing communicates that survivors deserve the very best, not just what is left over,” Deana says. “It reinforces the message that they are valued and worthy of good things.” Professional attire and everyday clothing can help survivors prepare for job interviews, court appearances, housing appointments or a new job. Just as importantly, feeling comfortable and confident in what they wear can help make an unfamiliar or stressful situation feel a little more manageable.

The boutique welcomes new or gently used women’s clothing in all sizes, including professional and business-casual attire, shoes, purses, jewelry, pajamas and seasonal pieces. New undergarments and personal-care products such as shampoo, deodorant, feminine hygiene products and skincare items are also appreciated. Clothing should be clean, in excellent condition and ready to wear. Deana recalls one survivor who came to the boutique while preparing for a job interview. After choosing her clothing, she looked in the mirror, smiled and quietly said, “I finally feel like myself again.” For Deana, moments like that reveal the boutique’s true purpose. “That moment had very little to do with the clothes themselves,” she says. “It was about dignity, hope, and believing that a new chapter was possible.” For more information, call 423-643-7600 .

Massey's Kitchen Indulge in a Taste of the Mediterranean at This Lookout Mountain Favorite Venture up Lookout Mountain, and you’ll find perhaps one of Chattanooga’s best kept secrets. Massey’s Kitchen sits just inside the Tennessee side of the mountain, and it’s become a go-to gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Massey’s Kitchen is part of Square One Holdings, the restaurant family behind local favorites Stir and State of Confusion, and Top of the Rock in Jasper. It opened in 2023 in the space that once held Cafe on the Corner—and, well before that, Massey’s General Store. The name is a nod to that history, a bit of nostalgia longtime community members can share. The menu leans heavily Mediterranean: Italian, Spanish, and Greek, among others. Several years ago, the owners traveled the region in search of the flavors, techniques, and experiences that would shape the restaurant. Now, every decision, from food to drink to atmosphere, traces back to something they encountered on that trip, all in service of feeling as authentic as possible. More recently, the menu has taken on a Spanish influence of a different kind. When the Spanish national soccer team spent time in Chattanooga during the World Cup, Square One handled much of their food and dining at

the hotel. Recipes and ideas passed both ways. Those dishes are a reminder of the relationships built during the event, and the memories that came with them. Everything is made from scratch, with many ingredients imported straight from the Mediterranean. The dishes are light, bright, and fresh—true to the cuisine—so you can enjoy a filling meal without leaving overstuffed. The menu has recently shifted from a monthly rotation to a more seasonal approach. General manager Clayton Gray says the longer runway lets the team put out more robust dishes built around unique, specialty ingredients—black Spanish rice made with squid ink, for one—that guests can enjoy for a full season rather than just a few weeks.

Start with the crispy, cheesy arancini, or the falafel and hummus, which Gray calls “lemony, creamy, and delicious.” For entrees, the House burger is a guest favorite, alongside hearty chicken, gyro, and falafel bowls. Another menu standout is the sabich—their take on an Israeli street food, a bowl stuffed in a pocket. The real pièce de résistance are the pizzas. They’re Tuscan style: thin, crispy crust charred at the edges, never perfectly round. Rustic, in the best sense. With a range this wide, Massey’s Kitchen has something for every guest, from picky eaters to the more adventurous. “It’s a great place to try something you might not normally eat,” Gray says. The bar program is just as intentional. There are two standing draft cocktails—a margarita and a limoncello spritz—alongside seasonal specials, a selection of higher-end bourbons, wine, and a rotating beer list. As beloved as Massey’s Kitchen is among locals, it’s just as popular with tourists heading to Rock City or Ruby Falls—and Gray wants to return the favor. “We want to help everyone on the mountain,” he says. “We’re all playing the same game.” That spirit—everyone invested in each other’s success, a genuine community gathering place—is exactly what he hopes people take away. “If folks traveling from out of town can feel that, then we’ve done what we’re supposed to do.” The levity, the sense of community, the Mediterranean influence, the made-from-scratch menu—it all adds up. Whether you’re in for lunch in the spacious dining room, bringing the family for dinner, or enjoying the patio for date night, Massey’s Kitchen is worth the drive up the mountain.

INGREDIENTS: • • • • • •

1 bottle, standard size, of pinot grigio 2 1/2 cups fresh apple cider 1 cup club soda 1/2 cup ginger brandy 3 Honeycrisp apples, chopped 3 pears, chopped

DIRECTIONS: Combine all ingredients together and stir. Refrigerate for an hour or so (or longer) before serving. The drink can be enjoyed immediately, if desired, but the longer you let the ingredients sit and mix, the deeper the flavors will be. Giving it time to develop will make the drink more captivating and interesting.

NOTE: Regular brandy can be used, but ginger brandy gives it an extra kick of flavor.
