What's Your Style?
Dear Reader,
I hope this letter finds you in high spirits and full of creative energy. Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate and explore the fascinating world of style. Style is not limited to the clothes we wear or the way we adorn ourselves; it encompasses every aspect of our lives - from the way we decorate our homes to the music we listen to, from the books we read to the way we carry ourselves in conversations. Style permeates every facet of our existence. It is the thread that weaves together the tapestry of our lives.
Style is also deeply personal, and it evolves as we celebrate our quirks, our passions, and our desires. Style is a form of self-expression that communicates who we are, how we perceive the world and what we value. Style can also become a powerful tool for connection, as it enables us to find common ground with others who share our aesthetic sensibilities.
Chamblee has forged its own sense of style, especially in recent years. Whether it’s one of the many unique pieces of original public art scattered around the city or any of the new boutique businesses opening in the city (with more on the way), Chamblee truly has developed its own particular style, and dare I say, its own personality. It's so exciting to see and to be a small part of.
As individuals, we have the freedom to embrace established styles, blend them together or forge entirely new paths, becoming trendsetters ourselves. We hope this issue inspires you to forge new paths or perhaps to explore familiar ones. There is so much here in Chamblee to uplift our spirits, boost your productivity and ignite your creativity. What I’ve found is that the best style is an authentic expression of who you really are. And that’s something no one on earth can duplicate.
Here’s to being uniquely you!

In our experience, we've found that most people also seek assistance in protecting their current and future income, including retirement savings. We understand the importance of financial security and work with our clients to develop personalized plans that cater to individual needs.
We believe asset protection is not a one-size-fits-all approach. That's why we take time to understand our client's goals and aspirations, allowing us to tailor our recommendations accordingly. As the number one mutual insurer in the United States, which is owned by its policyholders, State Farm provides tremendous support and financial strength, while offering more than 100 products and services.

Hive THE BUNNY
WHERE FAMILIES CAN LEARN, PLAY, AND SOCIALIZE
We spoke with owner Chelsea Marsten to learn more about The Bunny Hive in Chamblee.
What made you decide to open the Chamblee location?
I saw a job posting to work as a parttime teacher in early 2019. Based on the requirements of the position, I knew my accumulated skills would help this startup achieve the goals for their future. Today, I am not only the Director of the Atlanta studio, but also the Senior Director of Studio Operations.
“The Bunny Hive provides a safe space for families to enjoy time together and build relationships with their community. Our classes provide the opportunity for little ones to explore with activities focused on helping them reach milestones through cognitive and physical development.”
How does it work?
The studio was designed as a social club that is comfortable for adults but all about bonding with your little one and other families in the community. Anyone with a child ages 2 weeks to 6 years is welcome to attend classes. You can purchase a single class, a class pack, or a membership! Class choices range from ballet and music to infant massage and sensory. That's just a sampling of all the classes, pop ups, and seasonal events offered during the year.
What are the benefits for attending?
The Bunny Hive provides a safe space for families with little ones to enjoy time together and build relationships with their community. Our classes provide the opportunity for little ones to explore with activities focused on helping them reach milestones through cognitive and physical development.
What's been most rewarding so far?
This year marks the fifth anniversary of our Atlanta studio, and it has been amazing watching our families grow with us! The babies who attended our first year are now graduating and going to school, but their families have been welcoming new siblings along the way, so it's been a blessing to be a part of their lives.
What are your plans for the business?
In the last year we've expanded and sold franchises from Texas to New York and many beautiful places in between. The Bunny Hive has proven to be a much loved asset for a variety of caretakers, and we hope to be a resource for every community.
In addition to classes, we rent event space for baby showers, birthdays, and even family-friendly company get-togethers!

LIVING IN STYLE
Teak Outdoor Furniture is both stylish and functional
ARTICLE BY TANA PONCSAK
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ATLANTA TEAK FURNITURE
With cooler weather just around the corner, we're fortunate that in the south, we’re still able to spend time outdoors. In fact, some prefer the cool fall evenings to the hot and humid summer. And having a comfortable, stylish and functional outdoor space can add more livable space to a home. Teak furniture can bring function and style to any outdoor space.
“Maintenance of teak is a lot less complicated than people think.” —Larry Finglass, owner,
Atlanta Teak Furniture
Larry Finglass owner of Atlanta teak furniture in Chamblee said teak has been around for many years. Larry says that although you can get teak from a few other places, such as Indonesia, it's native to Thailand. The furniture at Atlanta Teak Furniture comes directly from Thailand. The container is shipped to Savannah and from Savannah to Chamblee. They get the furniture directly from the factory, so there’s no middleman.
Larry says teak furniture is premier for outdoor applications because of the density of the wood and the natural oil.
“There are other hardwoods, but they don’t have the oil content, so when you’re looking at outdoor applications, it’s always been a number one choice,” Larry says. “What happens is the combination of the oil and the density make the wood less penetrable to the elements, so the moisture doesn’t sink in as quickly.”
Teak furniture stands the test of time.
Larry explains that teak is often used on ships for the same reasons. The wood holds up to weather conditions as well that may cause many other surfaces to breakdown.
Atlanta Teak Furniture carries a number of products such as rocking chairs, dining tables, dining chairs, benches, side tables, coffee tables, deep seating with cushions and more. Products also come in different styles from classic to more modern and mid-century styles.
Larry says that teak should be used in its natural form. It starts out as a natural dark honey brown color and over time naturally turns to a gray.
“Maintenance of teak is a lot less complicated than people think,” Larry says. “To keep it clean just means scrubbing with a little soap and water using a light brush and a little elbow grease. If you do that once a year or so, it will last. Anything past that is really cosmetic.”
They sell at the showroom by appointment and hold periodic weekend warehouse sales. When visiting the Atlanta Teak Furniture Showroom, located at 2344 Chamblee Tucker Rd., in Chamblee, Larry says customers have the opportunity to see quality furniture with the ability to touch it and feel it. Larry says he also keeps overhead low, so he can offer the best price for the best quality. They offer knowledge and personal attention. Online sales and shipping are also available.
“We're honest and straightforward,” Larry says. “We don’t run sales. We keep our prices down yearround, so if you come in on July 5th, you’re going pay the same price as you would on July 4th.”

BALLOONACY BRINGS STYLE, COLOR, AND FUN TO EVENTS WITH BALLOON AND FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS
Make It Pop!
ARTICLE BY TANA PONCSAK | PHOTOGRAPHY BY BALLOONACY
Clients still ask for pastel balloon colors.
““Clients are asking for organic garlands and returning to classic and clean looks.”
—Holland Muscio, owner of Balloonacy
Whether it's a large corporate event or a smaller intimate gathering, balloons can add a dash of style and bit of festive fun to any event.
Sean and Holland Muscio, owners of Balloonacy in Chamblee, have worked to bring balloons to local events for about 20 years. When it comes to styles and trends with balloons, Holland says clients are asking for organic garlands and returning to classic and clean looks, such as columns with a swirl, arches with swirls, and toppers.
“They [clients] just want something that’s clean and precise,” Holland says.
She also says for colors she's still seeing a lot of pastels and neutral colors. Holland says they also work with a lot of the local schools, so school colors like blue, white and gold, are very popular.
Well-crafted balloon garland can add a touch of elegance to any event.
Corporate events can pop by adding fun balloon sculptures.
Balloonacy
Sean and Holland Muscio have helped clients to make their events the very best for 20 years with balloons and floral arrangements. They are experienced when it comes to balloon and floral decor, whether it's a corporate event, seasonal decor, birthday celebrations or Bar Mitzvahs and BatMitzvahs.
For more information about Balloonacy, visit / balloonacyatlanta.com
Balloonacy also offers floral arrangements for events, such as dinner parties, and corporate events. Holland explains that she’s not a florist with a storefront, but she can add floral arrangements alongside balloons if, for example, someone is having a dinner party and needs a grand bouquet and then smaller matching bouquets for centerpieces of smaller tables.
When speaking of Chamblee, Holland says she appreciates how much it has evolved, particularly over the last couple of years.
“The city is really taking a step in the right direction of preserving downtown, yet modernizing it,” she says. “…it really is a great place to be.”

I love family-style meals such as a crab boil this time of year. The food is the star of the show and a vital part of the tablescape – decor optional! Additional elements included here are a large paper-sail, light blue taper candles, a few large flowers, and heavy white rope as nautical accents. You can also use other elements such as large seashells, coral or seaglass. Use whatever you have on hand that nods to the sea.
SUMMER END of CRAB BOIL
ARTICLE BY LEANN PARKER | PHOTOGRAPHY BY JANIE JONES
Fill a large stock pot halfway with cold water. Season with lemon peels, bay leaves, black pepper, red pepper flakes, Old Bay Seasoning, and garlic powder. Bring to a boil and add crab legs, sausage, potatoes, and corn until cooked. Strain water and serve on a large galvanized tray, newspaper or parchment paper – enjoy your meal with guests, family style!
Give each guest a bowl of garlic butter for dipping as well as lemons for squeezing (wrapped in cheesecloth and tied with twine to avoid seeds).
Include special beverages and desserts such as a tiered lemon cake or frozen treat to beat the heat.
