I Take It Back, Mom and Dad.

Before anything else, thank you.

To everyone who joined us for our 2-Year Anniversary & 25th Issue Celebration, THANK YOU for showing up, celebrating local businesses, and reminding me why I started Centennial City Lifestyle in the first place. Seeing so many friends, partners, community leaders, and neighbors together, while sharing the exciting announcement of VENU coming to Centennial, was a night I'll never forget.

Driving home, I caught myself laughing.

When I was a kid, I couldn't wait to grow up. I had it all figured out.

I'd have my own house.

My own car.

A cool job.

I'd stay up as late as I wanted.

I honestly thought adults just went to work, got paid, and somehow had all the answers. Wow... was I wrong.

To be fair, I know I was warned about responsibility. But maybe a little louder.  Obviously, I wasn't listening.

No one could have prepared me for the decisions, the responsibility, the bills, the sports schedules, the permission slips, or trying to convince tiny humans that bedtime is, in fact, a real thing.

So...

Hey Mom and Dad... I take it back. Can I move back in? They said no..

The funny thing is, as much as I joke, I wouldn't trade this season of life for anything.

This issue is filled with kids, pets, music that brings back memories, and stories that remind us what community is really about. It also celebrates organizations like Lifeline Puppy Rescue and the events that bring us together—from Paws & Pours to our Happy Hours and everything in between. Check out the Ad for more details!

Maybe growing up isn't about having all the answers.

Maybe it's about realizing the best parts of life were never the things we couldn't wait to have. They've always been the people, the laughter, the dogs at our feet, and the community that keeps showing up for one another.

Now, if you'll excuse me... I have three kids to convince that bedtime is, in fact, a real thing.

See you around Centennial.

HOW ONE COLORADO RESCUE HAS PLACED MORE THAN 55,000 PUPPIES INTO FOREVER HOMES WHILE BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF COMPASSION

A LIFELINE

OF HOPE

On any given Saturday morning, the line begins forming long before the doors open. Families, couples, and hopeful dog owners gather outside Lifeline Puppy Rescue, eager to meet the newest arrivals. By the end of the weekend, dozens of puppies will leave with forever families, each beginning a new chapter thanks to an organization that has spent more than three decades giving homeless dogs a second chance.

Founded in 1993, Lifeline Puppy Rescue has placed more than 55,000 puppies into loving homes. For Outreach Director Scott Cromer, the mission has remained remarkably simple. That mission has inspired an entire community to get involved, including Colorado firefighters who volunteer each year for Lifeline's beloved Fire Rescue Dog Calendar, helping raise awareness and critical funds for the rescue.

"It was started by a couple who really just saw a need for homeless puppies," Cromer says. "If a shelter gets a litter of puppies they don't know what to do with, that's where we step in."

Many of those puppies come from overcrowded shelters outside Colorado, where time is often limited. They are transported to Lifeline's three-acre campus, receive medical care, vaccinations, and plenty of love before becoming available for adoption.

Every adoption is only possible because of an extraordinary network of people working behind the scenes. Volunteers help transport puppies, foster families open their homes, veterinary partners provide care, and community supporters dedicate countless hours to fundraising so more lives can be saved.

"The only way we can save more dogs is if we have more fosters," Cromer says. "I always tell people it's kind

“BEFORE COVID, WE’D GET MAYBE 100 OR 150 REQUESTS A WEEK FROM SHELTERS ASKING US TO TAKE PUPPIES. NOW IT’S WELL OVER 300.”

of like being the puppy's grandparents. You get to love on them, help them grow, and prepare them for their forever home."

That community support stretches far beyond Lifeline's campus.

Throughout the year, local businesses, photographers, volunteers, and first responders rally around the rescue through special events and fundraisers. From crowd-favorite Puppy Yoga classes to the annual Fire Rescue Dog Calendar, these events not only introduce more people to Lifeline's mission but also generate the critical funding needed to care for puppies while they wait for their forever homes.

The Fire Rescue Dog Calendar has become one of Lifeline's most recognizable traditions, with firefighters volunteering their time to pose with rescue puppies to raise both awareness and support. For every calendar sold, another puppy is given a second chance. Whether someone attends a yoga class, purchases a calendar, fosters a puppy, or volunteers their time, every act of support helps save lives. The 2027 Fire Rescue Dog Calendar is available now on Amazon, giving supporters another easy way to help provide second chances for rescue puppies.

"We couldn't do what we do without our community," Cromer says. "Whether someone adopts, fosters, volunteers, or supports one of our fundraisers, every person plays a role in saving lives."

As rewarding as the work can be, the need continues to grow.

"Before COVID, we'd receive maybe 100 or 150 requests each week from shelters asking us to take puppies," Cromer says. "Now it's well over 300."

With limited space, every decision matters.

"Some shelters only have 72 hours before a puppy is euthanized. It's heartbreaking knowing we can't save everyone."

That reality has inspired Lifeline to invest not only in rescue but also in prevention. The organization supports spay-andneuter clinics in underserved communities, helping reduce pet overpopulation before animals ever enter shelters.

After sixteen years with Lifeline, Cromer says one principle has guided every decision.

“THE ONLY WAY WE CAN SAVE MORE DOGS IS IF WE HAVE MORE FOSTERS. I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE IT’S KIND OF LIKE BEING THE PUPPY’S GRANDPARENTS. YOU GET TO LOVE ON THEM, HELP THEM GROW, AND PREPARE THEM FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME.”
"We

make a lifetime commitment to every dog that crosses our bridge."

Every adopted puppy remains connected through Lifeline's microchip registration program, ensuring the rescue can step in if a dog is ever lost or abandoned.

For Cromer, however, the greatest success stories aren't measured by numbers.

"People tell us they were going through the hardest season of their lives, and then they adopted a puppy," he says. "Or they started volunteering here and finally felt like they had a purpose again. We save the dogs, but the dogs save people too."

It's a mission reflected not only inside Lifeline Puppy Rescue, but throughout the Colorado community that continues to stand beside it. From foster families and volunteers to photographers, firefighters proudly featured in the annual Fire Rescue Dog Calendar, and everyday donors, every person involved helps write another happy ending—one puppy, one family and one second chance at a time. If you'd like to be part of that mission, the 2027 Fire Rescue Dog Calendar is now available on Amazon, with proceeds helping Lifeline Puppy Rescue continue its lifesaving work. OUR COMMUNITY Mixtape

Music takes us back to our childhoods. Whether you’re an 80s kid who grew up plugging headphones into your Walkman or a millennial downloading songs onto an MP3 player, each of us has that genre that hits us with a wave of nostalgia. However, through every shift in technology, radio has remained a constant.

K4CO, our Centennial-based station, is led by owners Sara Duke and Josh D’Estrada. They focus on bolstering community and spotlighting Colorado musicians, who make up a third of the music played on the station.

“The impact I want to have on Centennial is collaboration, partnership, joy, togetherness, and authenticity,” says Sara, Vice President of K4CO.

K4CO President Josh echoes that mission. “I just want people to know our name as a great resource and the company that cares about the small business,” he says. “The nonprofits, and the small businesses, and the Colorado musicians who are just trying to get their name out.”

Sara points to the album covers on their walls of local musicians they’ve seen rise to success, like Mallorie

K4CO, the Radio Love Letter to Colorado

Cordova and Bailey Elora. “It’s cool to be a part of it and say, ‘We knew you when!’” Sara laughs. “But it's truly to shine a light on the amazing talent that we have in Colorado and to see them flourish.”

That sense of purpose extends well beyond music and into the small businesses and nonprofits across Centennial. Their interviews give community members an unfiltered voice, whether that means helping a new business owner reach the right audience or introducing listeners to local standouts. The station also broadcasts live from community events, with the student-run Mountain Music Fest being one of this summer’s highlights.

Looking ahead, K4CO hopes to deepen its community presence. “I want to be more interactive with businesses,” says Josh. And when the next event planner is searching for live music, he hopes they can think, “We need a really good musical act. We need to call K4CO.”

For Josh and Sara, radio goes deeper than just a career. Josh, who previously worked in finance, shared a vision for reimagining Colorado radio with co-founders Kevin Stanley and William Roberts. Sara joined the team six months later, bringing entrepreneurial experience and a shared sense of momentum, and that vision blossomed into a calling. But the roots of their passion stretch as far back as childhood.

“There was nothing like sitting up at night making a mixtape,”

Sara remembers buying her first Madonna CD with fondness. “I was always the kid trying to break out of the mold, to think outside of the box,” she says. Artists like Madonna shaped her self-expression growing up. They taught her “to have a voice [and] express yourself.”

Josh’s connection to music is equally personal, though shaped by a different lens. As a musician, he sees music as a powerful form of community building. “There was nothing like sitting up at night making a mixtape,” he says. He loved the intention behind it, the hours spent choosing songs for someone you cared about. “You shared mixtapes with your friends.”

Today, K4CO represents that same idea: Sara and Josh’s personal mixtape to Colorado. Every hour spent coordinating with staff, guests, and partners forms part of a larger offering to the community they love.

1. QUEEN

Freddie Mercury was another “champion” of the 80s, right beside Madonna. His take-itor-leave-it authenticity made Queen an enduring favorite.

MC Hammer was the definition of iconic. From helping bring rap into the mainstream to making Hammer pants a fashion statement, he defined an era.

As one of the best-selling female artists since 1998, Madonna inspired generations to break the mold, embrace individuality, and never be afraid to reinvent themselves.

K4CO’S THROWBACK FAVORITES

80’s and 90’s hits the team loves

4.

The blend of rebellion and honesty drew fans to Green Day. They came in with guns blazing, proving the best moments in life are often unpredictable.

Metallica was, and still is, a total classic. With guitar and thunderous drums that transported listeners to another dimension, it’s music built for turning the volume all the way up.

No matter what decade you grew up in, you’ve seen music trends change with the times. K4CO embraces both old and new music, the same way they support growing musicians and businesses already rooted in the community. Sara and Josh were kind enough to share a list of their favorite artists from the past. They reminisce on the decades of sound with staples that shaped their adolescence.

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson changed the game with groundbreaking music, unforgettable performances, and timeless albums that continue to inspire generations.

With infectious pop melodies and the chart-topping hit "The Sign," Ace of Base became the soundtrack of the '90s, leaving fans with memories that still bring a smile.

CHANGING HOW COLORADO FAMILIES CARE FOR THEIR DOGS, ONE HEALTHY HABIT.

MORE THAN A CLEAN DOG

ARTICLE BY KRISTI SELLERS
PHOTOGRAPHY BY PINK POPPY MEDIA
“EVERY WAGGING TAIL THAT WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR IS A REMINDER OF WHY THE WORK MATTERS.”

After nearly 20 years in corporate HR consulting, Christy Boswell was ready to build something rooted in purpose, community, and her love of dogs. When she discovered Scenthound, she saw more than a grooming concept. She saw an opportunity to help pet owners think differently about routine care and give dogs a healthier, happier life.

Today, that mission is the heart of everything she does.

As the multi-unit owner of Scenthound, Boswell is passionate about helping pet owners understand the importance of preventative care before problems arise. While many people associate professional grooming with a fresh haircut or a shiny coat, she believes regular attention to a dog's skin, ears, nails, teeth, and coat is an important part of overall wellness. Since opening her first Scenthound location, Boswell has continued expanding the brand across Colorado and now owns multiple locations, with a fifth on the way.

That purpose ultimately led Boswell to Scenthound. “Before Scenthound, I spent nearly 20 years in corporate America as an HR consulting professional. When my husband and I decided to pursue franchise ownership, we knew we wanted to build a business around something we were passionate about, and pet care was a natural fit. What stood out about Scenthound was its unique approach. Rather than focusing primarily on appearance, Scenthound is built around routine hygiene and preventative care for every dog. I was especially drawn to the S.C.E.N.T.

“SMALL, CONSISTENT HABITS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE OVER THE COURSE OF A DOG’S LIFE.”

Check, which gives pet parents regular feedback about their dog's skin, coat, ears, nails, and teeth. By documenting changes over time, we're able to identify potential concerns early and encourage owners to seek veterinary care when needed. That proactive approach has the potential to improve health outcomes and help dogs live longer, healthier lives.”

Unlike traditional grooming salons that often focus on appearance, Scenthound is built around routine hygiene and preventative care. Through regular visits and wellness checks, pet owners can identify potential concerns early while complementing the care they receive from their veterinarian.

For Boswell, the work goes far beyond routine appointments. One of the most rewarding parts of her day is helping owners better understand their dogs. Whether it's teaching someone how to recognize early signs of skin irritation or explaining why routine nail care matters, those conversations often give pet owners greater confidence in caring for the animals they love.

“If I could recommend just one habit, it would be brushing your dog's teeth as often as possible. Around 80% of dogs show signs of periodontal disease by the age of three, and dental disease can affect far more than just their mouth. Beyond that, regularly checking your dog's ears, paws, nails, and skin while you're petting them can help you notice changes early. Small, consistent habits make a big difference over the course of a dog's life,” says Christy.

Community involvement has become a natural extension of Boswell's philosophy that every dog deserves attentive care, whether they're a family companion, a newly adopted rescue, or a working dog serving others.

According to Christy, “One of the things we're most proud of is partnering with multiple law enforcement agencies to

provide complimentary hygiene services for their working therapy dogs. We've cared for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office SRO therapy dogs for nearly five years, some since they were puppies! Those dogs spend every day taking care of our community, and being able to take care of them is one of the most rewarding things we do. We also partner with Humane Colorado and several local rescue organizations by providing complimentary first-time hygiene visits for newly adopted dogs, helping families get started on the right foot with preventative care.”

As pet ownership continues to evolve, so does the conversation around wellness. More owners are recognizing that small, consistent habits like checking ears, brushing coats, trimming nails, and maintaining good hygiene can have a lasting impact on a dog's comfort and quality of life.

According to Christy, “I hope more people begin thinking about routine hygiene the same way they think about preventative healthcare for themselves. Dogs are incredibly good at hiding discomfort, so catching small issues early can have a significant impact on their long-term health and quality of life. My hope is that more pet parents recognize that routine hygiene isn't just about keeping their dog clean; it's one of the simplest ways to help them live healthier, happier lives.”

For Boswell, every wagging tail that walks through the door is a reminder of why the work matters. Helping dogs feel their best means helping families enjoy more adventures, more memories, and more years with the companions who so effortlessly become part of the family. In the end, that's a difference worth making, one healthy habit at a time.

TREY & KATIE KENNEDY

ON MARRIAGE, KIDS, AND THE COMEDY OF REAL LIFE

Trey Kennedy makes a living finding comedy in regular life. Marriage. Toddlers. Yoga pants. The Thursday-night scramble between school dropoffs, soccer practice, and whatever has to be done by morning. Twelve years in, it shows: millions of followers across every platform, three stand-up specials, a sold-out Relatable Tour, and a style of humor fans send each other captioned, “Are you watching me?” He delivers the kind of comedy that travels because everyone’s living some version of it.

Katie, his wife of six years, is a former biomedical engineer who also built a modeling career. She’s now raising their kids and co-hosting Correct Opinions alongside Trey — the show where the two of them swap takes on marriage, parenting, and whatever came up that week.

Trey has been at this longer than people realize. An Edmond, Oklahoma kid who grew up playing basketball described himself as a “shy kid who never thought he’d be an entertainer.” He started making videos while attending Oklahoma State University. After building millions of followers on Vine before the platform shut down, he gave himself six months on Instagram and Facebook to see whether he could rebuild from zero. He did. Stand-up soon followed. His first special, Are You For Real?, streams on YouTube; the second, Grow Up, on Amazon Prime; the third, built around the Relatable Tour, wrapped earlier this year. “I’ve been trying to be funny every week for like twelve years now,” he says. A slow climb, made one bit at a time.

“I’ve been trying to be funny every week for like twelve years now.”

Most of what Trey writes lately starts in his own kitchen. Thomas is three and a half, and he is, in his father’s words, “a movie.” He narrates his own life from the moment his eyes open and mispronounces words in ways his parents now repeat to each other because no one else would believe them. His younger sister, Eva, is what Katie calls “the calm one.” With a third now in the mix, the Kennedys are officially outnumbered.

After six years of marriage, Trey and Katie have learned that the partnership runs best when it gets its own time on the calendar. So once a week, they leave the kids with a sitter and go out for coffee. “You need a system,” Katie says. “It’s about taking time to look each other in the eye. Not the kids. Not the cameras. Just each other.”

The same instinct shapes the work. Most of Trey’s trial and error happens onstage or on Instagram, but the first read is always Katie’s. “There’s only been one time ever I’ve had to be like, ‘you’re not doing that,’” she says. The rest of the time, she just laughs first.

Trey and Katie talk about marriage, parenting, and the moments that don’t make the Instagram feed.
