September always feels like the perfect time for a fresh perspective. As the Texas heat begins to soften and football season fills our weekends, many of us are ready to refresh our homes, wardrobes, and routines for fall. This month's Style issue is filled with creative people who prove that great style is not about following trends. It is about expressing who you are. We begin with Brittany Cobb, founder of Flea Style, whose passion for flea market treasures has grown into a nationally recognized lifestyle brand with locations in nearby Prosper and Frisco. Her newest book, How to Style a Hat, is packed with inspiration, creativity, and practical tips that encourage readers to embrace their own unique style with confidence. We are also proud to celebrate Celina native Alex Snodgrass, whose recipes have inspired families across the country. Her newest cookbook, Everyday Eats, has arrived and Alex continues her mission of making delicious, approachable meals that fit real life. Style is also about the impact we make in our communities. That is why we are highlighting Apricot Lane Boutique and the meaningful ways they continue to give back to Celina, proving that generosity never goes out of fashion. If you are dreaming about your next shopping adventure, join Terramania owners Traci and Andrew Miller as they take us through Round Top, sharing their favorite places to shop, dine, and stay during one of Texas' most celebrated markets. Their insider guide is filled with inspiration for anyone who loves beautiful spaces, one of a kind finds, and the stories behind them. Whether you are searching for your next favorite outfit, cookbook, destination, or home accent, we hope this issue inspires you to embrace your own sense of style and celebrate the creative spirit that makes our community so special. As always, thank you for reading and we will see you around town!

We take the guesswork out of real estate.

TEAM As an acronym, it stands for Together Everyone Achieves More. I started a real estate team because I wanted to create a group with various gifts to ensure that we could provide the best in class real estate service to our clients. I also wanted agents with experience in different areas of the metroplex so we could properly educate our buyers and sellers with the necessary knowledge to be the best choice in their neighborhoods. Both objectives were met, but there was a bonus waiting for us all which shouldn’t have been such a surprise to me. I say this because I had a front row seat in Celina to witness the very same thing as my sons participated in various extra-curricular activities led by very talented coaches and educators. I learned from them by example as I watched my own children experience first hand the power of a team and what occurs when you commit to one another to accomplish a goal. For me, the best and most rewarding part of working together is a combination of the support we provide to one another and the friendships that have blossomed. The collaboration is a gift every day and something that benefits our clients as we strategize together in an ever changing market to help our clients win... every time. In addition we have watched our real estate family grow with our clients being an extension of it. It’s easy to see why we love what we do when I look at what has materialized through hard work and sharing our expertise. The results in Celina alone are reflected on the next page. Some homes have been sold multiple times as shown on the dates posted. We are a mighty team of 10 with lots of wisdom, heart, and grit to help you navigate your real estate journey.

FOUNDER OF FLEA STYLE, B R I T TA N Y COBB, TREASURES THE UNIQUE AND LAUNCHES HER NEW BOOK

F

ashion trends come and go, but one accessory has stood the test of time: the hat. Brittany Cobb, owner and founder of the Flea Style lifestyle brand, understands this better than most. A longtime hat lover, Brittany has always considered a hat her signature accessory. She wanted others to experience the same confidence and creativity that comes from finding the perfect hat, so she created one of the first hat bar experiences in Frisco at her Flea Style store. So, what exactly is a hat bar? Inside Flea Style, customers will find a dedicated space where they can design and customize a hat that reflects their personal style. Guests choose from custom designs and one-of-a-kind accessories, many of which Brittany discovers during her own flea market adventures. The hat bar features a variety of cowboy hats, including straw, felt, wool, short-brim, and wide-brim styles, along with made-to-order trucker hats. While Brittany had incorporated smaller custom hat sections in previous store locations, she recognized an opportunity after COVID to create something more interactive: an experience. “I saw the need for people to decorate hats as a fun experience,” says Brittany. “In 2020 and 2021, people were only seen from the waist up during Zoom meetings. I thought having a festive, unique hat to wear online could at least make things a little more fun.” With available space in the Frisco store, Flea Style launched the Original Hat Bar on National Hat Day in January 2021. Today, men and women alike can find a hat they love and personalize it however they choose. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments with a stylist are recommended. Corporate events, wedding parties, sporting events, and special celebrations are all perfect opportunities to reserve a private hat-making experience. “I have always worn hats and can’t remember a time when I didn’t,” says Brittany. “As a hat lover, I always carried hats in my businesses.” Her mantra is simple: “Life is too short to wear a boring hat.” As a former writer, Brittany had always dreamed of writing a book. Recognizing that many people aren’t sure how to wear or style a hat, she knew exactly what she wanted to create. The result was How to Style a Hat, a guide designed to help everyone embrace their personal style. Released last April, the book features a foreword by Grammywinning country music artist Miranda Lambert. Brittany knew Miranda would be the perfect choice because of her signature style and love of hats. “She always wears a hat with her own personal, unique style,” Brittany says. “The book is for the hat curious—for those who may not think they look good in a hat,” explains Brittany. “It’s a guide in so many ways to help you find what might be the best hat for you.” She believes a hat can transform more than just an outfit. “A hat can change the course of the day,” says Brittany. “The confidence a crisp-brimmed hat can give you, or how a trucker hat can completely change the vibe for your kid’s soccer game.

“As a hat lover, I always carried hats in my businesses.” Her mantra is simple: “Life is too short to wear a boring hat.” - Brittany Cobb It is the oldest accessory of all time. We have worn them since the beginning of time. Why not have fun with that?” Beyond the hat bar, Flea Style is a lifestyle boutique featuring bohemian and vintage-inspired fashion, accessories, gifts, jewelry, and home goods. The store showcases one-of-a-kind pieces with influences ranging from western and southern flair to nature-inspired and rocker styles. Originally from Southern California, Brittany is a graduate of Southern Methodist University. After earning her degree, she spent years as a writer covering fashion and décor for publications including The Dallas Morning News and DailyCandy. Drawing from that experience, she launched Flea Style as a pop-up shop, which quickly gained popularity and expanded to Houston, with the first flagship Dallas location opening in 2018. “I want you to not just shop but have fun, make memories, and create special hats that last a lifetime,” she continues. “It could be art in your home, a piece that you love, or a future heirloom for your family.” Flea Style expanded and opened at The Star in Frisco in the fall of 2019. The brand also has a location in Prosper at The Gates of Prosper. Both the Frisco and Prosper stores feature Heirloom Haul, a modern tearoom and coffee shop located inside the boutique. Guests can enjoy salads, sandwiches, shareable bites, and classic tea service, making it the perfect place to relax after shopping or creating a custom hat.

Founder of Flea Style, Brittany Cobb

Flea Style’s success in Texas has helped the brand expand nationwide, with 10 locations across four states. Additional stores include locations in Louisville, Kentucky; Nashville, Tennessee; and Laguna Beach, California. For Brittany, opening a Laguna Beach location was especially meaningful, as she was born and raised in Orange County and spent many summers there. “My goal is for people to walk into our stores and enjoy a special experience in retail,” says Brittany. “Retail is hard, especially with all the opportunities available online, but we want customers to walk away with a memorable experience.” “I want you to not just shop but have fun, make memories, and create special hats that last a lifetime,” she continues. “It could be art in your home, a piece that you love, or a future heirloom for your family.” Brittany describes Flea Style as being similar to “a cool friend’s home that you walk into and don’t want to leave.” With plans for additional Texas locations potentially being announced soon, Brittany knows the Flea Style brand continues to grow because it offers something shoppers crave: connection, creativity, and a little fun. How to Style a Hat is available at all Flea Style locations and online, with signed copies available in stores. FleaStyle.com

THE POWER OF ADVOCACY CASA’S Impact On Collin County Children Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Collin County is on the front lines of serving children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect. Appointed by District Court judges, CASA serves as each child's guardian ad litem, providing a dedicated volunteer advocate who remains by the child's side throughout their journey in the child welfare system. Over the past 35 years, CASA of Collin County has provided quality advocacy to more than 14,500 children. Established in 1991, CASA is the only court-mandated child advocacy organization in Collin County. It is an affiliate of Texas CASA and the National CASA/GAL Association for Children, organizations that have received national recognition from the U.S. Congress, the White House, and the U.S. Department of Justice for their work in protecting vulnerable children. CASA volunteers are community members who complete extensive screening, education, and training before advocating for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and have entered the child welfare system, often in foster care. Appointed by the court, these volunteers provide best-interest advocacy, ensuring each child's well-being remains the priority. They work to make certain children do not get lost in an overburdened system and help preserve important family connections whenever possible. Becoming a CASA volunteer is a meaningful way to change the trajectory of a child's life. After completing an application, background check, interview, and specialized training, volunteers are sworn in by a judge and assigned

to advocate for a child throughout their case. CASA volunteers build trusting relationships, gather information from everyone involved in the child's life, attend court hearings, and speak up for the child's best interests. With ongoing guidance and support from CASA staff, these dedicated volunteers provide consistency, encouragement, and hope during one of the most difficult seasons of a child's life.

ONCE TRAINED, CASA VOLUNTEERS ADVOCATE THROUGH FIVE CORE PRACTICES:

Learn: Learn everything possible about the child, their family, and their unique circumstances. Engage: Build a relationship with the child through regular visits and consistent communication. Recommend: Advocate for the child's best interests in court by making recommendations regarding placement, services, and long-term well-being while monitoring the case until it is closed.

Collaborate: Work alongside caseworkers, educators, medical professionals, caregivers, and others to ensure the child receives the services and support they need. Report: Provide the court with accurate, timely reports based on observations, conversations, and ongoing involvement with the child.

UNLIMITED SPIRIT

HOW ANGELA KELLEY TURNED A HOME-BASED HOBBY INTO CELINA’S ONE-STOP SHOP FOR TEXAS TRADITIONS PHOTOGRAPHY BY KRISTI MURRY PHOTOGRAPHY

26

S CH OOL SP ORTS | S HO PPIN G

Unlimited Spirit has become a go-to destination for game day style, custom spirit wear, and one of Texas' most beloved traditions, all while staying true to its small-business roots. Founded in 2018, Unlimited Spirit began as a passion project when the owner started creating custom cheer bows for her daughter's competitive cheer team. What started at the kitchen table quickly gained momentum through word-of-mouth referrals from coaches, teammates, and families. As demand grew, so did the business, expanding into custom apparel, gifts, and spirit wear for schools, teams, and organizations.

Recognizing a need for a one-stop shop for cheer essentials, game day apparel, and Texas mum supplies, Unlimited Spirit opened its first retail storefront in Celina in 2025. Today, the business proudly serves local school districts and several Texas universities, offering personalized products designed in-house to celebrate school pride. This season's hottest items include customizable clear stadium bags featuring premium straps, scarves, and monograms, making them perfect for Friday night lights or college game days. Other customer favorites include game day buttons, twillies, and trendy mock-neck sets.

Community involvement remains at the heart of Unlimited Spirit. The business partners with organizations including Bobcat Moms, Celina Cheer, Prosper Cheer, Walnut Grove Cheer, and Prosper Youth Cheer Association, helping schools and teams create custom spirit wear while simplifying group orders through personalized catalogs. As homecoming season approaches, Unlimited Spirit becomes a destination for Texas mum makers. The shop carries everything from ribbons, braids, trinkets, and buttons to complete starter kits and fully customizable mums and garters. Whether you're an experienced mum maker or creating your first homecoming masterpiece, the team is ready to help bring your vision to life. Although the Celina storefront is still new, Unlimited Spirit continues to grow by adding fresh products, following the latest trends, and expanding its offerings. With exciting additions planned for this fall, the team remains focused on helping customers celebrate their schools, teams, and traditions in style. UnlimitedSpirit.net 301 E Malone Street, Celina

ANGELA KELLEY Owner of Unlimited Spirit

What began as a way to support her daughter’s competitive cheer team has grown into one of Celina’s favorite game day destinations. In 2018, Angela Kelley started making custom cheer bows from her home, never imagining the hobby would blossom into a thriving business. As word spread throughout the cheer community, Unlimited Spirit expanded beyond bows to include custom spirit wear, gifts, game day apparel, and personalized products for schools and organizations. Along the way, Angela recognized a need for a local shop where families could find everything they needed in one place, from Friday night football accessories to Texas homecoming mum supplies. That vision became a reality in 2025 when Unlimited Spirit opened its first storefront in Celina. Today, Angela continues to combine creativity with community, helping customers celebrate school pride through custom designs while supporting local schools, teams, and organizations. Her passion for serving families and creating memorable traditions is at the heart of everything Unlimited Spirit does.

OUTSTANDING STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

Sponsored by Lamar National Bank

Taylor McMillan | Celina HS It is with great pleasure to announce the Outstanding Student Athlete of the Month as selected by the Celina Independent School District (CISD) Athletic Coaching Team. This month’s selection is upcoming senior Taylor McMillan. Taylor is a Center-Forward and Winger for the Celina Varsity Soccer team and is a back-spot and main-base for the Celina High School Varsity Cheer Team. She has been a 3-year Varsity starter for Celina Soccer. She has also been a 2-year UIL Varsity Spirit Cheerleader. One of her special moments has been winning state three times on the soccer team and being part of the historical “5 Times Back-to-Back State Champions”. From cheering for the Bobcats since kindergarten to traveling to Nationals at Disney, she has created memories she will cherish forever. Over the course of her high school career, Taylor has won five gold medals for State, twice in cheer and three times in soccer. McMillan has earned numerous honors throughout her high school career. As a Junior, she was named 1st Team All-Area by the Dallas Morning News and All-Area Offensive Player of the Year by Star Local Media. As a senior, she earned UIL: 4A District 11 - 1st Team All-District / Academic All-District State Farm Player of the Game as well. Taylor began playing soccer at three years old, and she currently plays for FC Dallas ECNL RL.

McMillan has previously participated in Level-7 Gymnastics, Cheer, Soccer, Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, Flag Football and Track. Soccer has always been and continues to be her first love. Off the field, she has distinguished herself as an active part of the Church at the Creek youth program. Taylor loves and values the friendships she has made. She thrives and excels with each team’s chemistry and loves performing at a high level of competition. Taylor has learned so much and excelled from all her coaches, present and past, who have all made a positive impact in her life. “We appreciate everyone that has poured into her the past 14 years.” Taylor’s mom, Cissy McMillan, says. When she is not on the field, Taylor can often be found playing pickleball and card games with her friends in her free time, or you may find her tanning by the pool if the UV rays are high. Taylor has verbally committed to play college soccer at Dallas Baptist University and to pursue academics in sports management after she graduates this year. MOR E T H A N A B OU T IQ UE APRICOT LANE’S COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY When Jennifer Nairn decided to open Apricot Lane Boutique, she could have chosen any number of growing communities. Instead, she chose Celina, a decision rooted in the town's welcoming spirit and close-knit culture. "Celina has a unique small-town feel with incredible community support," Nairn says. "It felt like the perfect place to start a boutique where women feel welcomed, unique and inspired." That sense of belonging extends far beyond the boutique's carefully curated fashion. From the beginning, community involvement has been at

the heart of Apricot Lane's mission. The support the business has received from local residents has inspired a commitment to giving back in meaningful ways. Whether it's helping customers find the perfect outfit for a special occasion or creating opportunities for neighbors to connect, Nairn believes a boutique should be a place where relationships are built just as much as wardrobes. "The community has supported us from day one, so giving back is our way to say thank you," she says. "Supporting local causes is part of who we are." One of the boutique's favorite traditions is its monthly Bunco event benefiting Helping Hands of Celina, a local nonprofit that holds a special place in Nairn's heart. The event has become a favorite among customers who enjoy gathering with friends while supporting an important cause. Apricot Lane also partners with Celina High School, supporting the football program, the Las Gatitas Drill Team and several other organizations throughout the community. These partnerships allow the boutique to celebrate the people and organizations that make Celina such a special place to call home. As both a business owner and a community member, Nairn is especially proud of what Apricot Lane has become. "I'm most proud that we have become more than just a boutique. We've created a place where women feel confident, connected and supported." With Celina continuing to grow, her vision remains the same. She hopes to continue welcoming new families, investing in local organizations and

preserving the small-town spirit that first drew her to the community. "I hope we continue to welcome new families, support local organizations and remain a business that gives back while growing alongside the community that appreciates our small-town charm." For Nairn, the greatest part of owning a business in Celina isn't just serving customers. It's being surrounded by neighbors who genuinely care about one another. "The best part about being part of the Celina community is the people," she says. "They genuinely support one another. It's a privilege to be a part of a community that really feels like family. This is 'The Texas You Were Promised.'"

MEET ME

R N O I

Two times a year, more than 100,000 designers, decorators, home enthusiasts, and avid shoppers flock to the charming town of Round Top, Texas. Each January, April, and October, this community of fewer than 100 residents transforms into a bustling destination filled with vibrant markets, live music, incredible food, and unmistakable Texas pride. Conveniently located halfway between Austin and Houston, Round Top is perfect for a day trip, a quick 36-hour getaway, or a leisurely multi-day adventure. Traci Miller and her husband, Andrew, owners of Terramania in downtown Celina on the Square, have been making the trip to Round Top for nearly 14 years. Traci’s introduction came through her mentor, who would visit the markets to source distinctive pieces for her interior design and home furnishings shop in downtown McKinney.

INSIDER ADVICE FROM TERRAMANIA OWNER TRACI MILLER FOR NAVIGATING ONE OF TEXAS’ MOST BELOVED SHOPPING DESTINATIONS ARTICLE BY CHRISTINE CLARK | PHOTOGRAPHY BY NICOLE WIERICK

In its early days, Round Top was a true bargain hunter’s paradise, known for antiques, vintage treasures, and unique home décor. Over the years, the markets have evolved into a creative wonderland featuring vintage textiles, statement lighting, quirky apparel, designer clothing, eclectic jewelry, fine art, and architectural salvage. If you’re willing to explore, you can discover almost anything. Traci recommends attending Round Top with someone who knows the ropes. While most of us may not have the opportunity to shop alongside Traci herself, she’s sharing her insider tips and strategies for making your own Round Top adventure a success.

WHERE TO GO

Stretching 11 miles along State Highway 237 between Brenham and La Grange, Round Top transforms into a treasure-filled corridor of barns, sprawling fields, tents, and pop-up shops. Iconic venues like the Big Red Barn and Blue Hills feature curated collections of vendors, with displays thoughtfully arranged much like boutique shops in the city. These locations are perfect for gathering inspiration and discovering that oneof-a-kind piece to complete a room. Traci’s favorite stops for inspiration include East End Salvage, The Horseshoe Round Top, and The West Place. The fields stretch for miles, with some spanning the size of four football fields and filled with tents and small barns as far as the eye can see. Conditions can range from hot and dusty to muddy and chilly, but many fields offer free parking, food and drinks, clean restrooms, and endless opportunities for discovery. For the true bargain hunter, these fields are paradise. The excitement comes from the hunt because you never know what you’ll uncover. Many vendors are open to negotiation, especially when approached with a respectful offer. Traci’s Pro Tips: Bring both cash and credit cards. Many field vendors operate on a cash-only basis, while larger barns often have Wi-Fi access for credit card transactions. If something catches your eye, don’t hesitate. Chances are, it won’t be there when you return. Plan on driving from field to field, and bring an extra bag to carry smaller finds as you shop. For larger purchases, make note of where you bought each item so you can easily return later for pickup. Finally, pack towels or blankets to protect fragile treasures for the ride home.

WHAT TO WEAR

Round Top shoppers arrive stylish and ready for adventure. Choose outfits that are both comfortable and chic. Western-inspired looks are always a favorite, especially when paired with your favorite cowboy boots. Don’t forget the accessories: bold necklaces, stacks of rings, a statement hat, and the perfect pair of sunglasses can complete your market-ready look. Traci’s Pro Tips: Bring at least two pairs of shoes to switch between throughout the day. Your feet will thank you. And don’t forget rain boots. Texas weather can be unpredictable, and muddy fields are part of the Round Top experience. CONTINUED > S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . C O M / C E L I N A

WHERE TO STAY

Accommodations in and around Round Top range from charming Airbnb cottages and boutique hotels to cozy guest houses. If you’re willing to drive a little farther, nearby towns offer additional hotel options, and day trippers can easily make the journey from Houston or Austin. Traci and Andrew often stay at the Best Western in La Grange for its convenience. Traci’s Pro Tips: Book accommodations well in advance. Nearby lodging often fills up months before market dates. Before splurging on a high-end cottage, consider how much time you’ll actually spend there. A comfortable, simple place to recharge may be all you need after a full day of shopping.

WHERE TO EAT

Round Top’s food, beverage, and entertainment scene has grown significantly in recent years, both in town and throughout the surrounding communities. Each destination offers its own unique atmosphere, pairing great food and drinks with opportunities to relax and continue the shopping experience. After a day of treasure hunting, Traci and Andrew recommend unwinding at The Garden Company on Rummel Square, enjoying uncomplicated Italian fare and signature cocktails at Hotel Lulu, or relaxing at Ellis Motel Emporium and Lounge for creative drinks in a laid-back setting. For a truly iconic Round Top experience, Marburger Farm is the place to see and be seen. While parking and admission fees

apply, visitors are rewarded with hundreds of dealers, live music, exceptional food, and craft beverages. Its reputation as one of the premier shows in the country attracts designers, tastemakers, and even the occasional celebrity. Keep your eyes open as you browse. Traci’s Pro Tips: Pack a cooler with plenty of cold water, snacks, and an easy grab-and-go lunch. You’ll save valuable shopping time and won’t have to interrupt your treasure hunt when hunger strikes. Whether you’re a Round Top rookie or a seasoned veteran, there is always something unexpected waiting to be discovered. For Traci, the magic is in finding unusual pieces that spark creativity and transform into one-of-a-kind treasures for her clients. On her latest hunt, she discovered a pair of weathered leather chaps and vests, which she combined with African kilim cloth and a rustic frame to create a striking custom art installation. While not everyone has Traci and her team’s trained design eye, they share a passion for creating custom pieces and unique installations for both homes and businesses. Whether your style is modern, rustic, eclectic, or somewhere in between, Terramania knows how to bring your vision to life.

Wear Colors That Truly

LOVE YOU A quick guide to finding flattering shades for life.

KNOW YOUR UNDERTONE Your undertone doesn’t change with the seasons. Check your wrist veins: blue means cool, green means warm, and unclear may be neutral. Cool tones love jewel colors; warm tones glow in earthy, rich shades.

CONSIDER CONTRAST Do you have high contrast between your hair, skin, and eyes (like dark hair and light skin)? High contrast looks great in bold, clear colors. Low contrast (like blonde hair and fair skin)? Softer, blended tones often suit you best.

THE WHITE VS. CREAM TEST Hold a white and ivory shirt near your face. If white flatters, you're likely cool-toned. If ivory glows against your skin, you're likely warm-toned. This quick test reveals your undertone with ease.

BUILD AROUND YOUR “WOW” COLORS Once you identify a few colors that make you look and feel amazing, use those as the base of your palette. These are your power colors—build your wardrobe and makeup around them!

PRO TIP You don’t have to follow rules perfectly. Your color palette is a guide, not a limit. Mix, match, and most importantly—wear what makes you feel beautiful.

Styling your Bookcase Tips for an Organized and Aesthetic Display ARTICLE BY SHANNON ROBERTS

44

H OM E U P DAT E | HO ME + D E SIGN

A bookcase is often more than just a storage unit for books; it’s a focal point of a room that can enhance the overall decor and reflect personal style. Styling a bookcase can be a rewarding endeavor, allowing you to showcase your literary collection and curate a space that feels inviting and visually appealing. Here are some tips to help you achieve a beautifully styled bookcase. Styling a bookcase is a creative process that combines practicality with aesthetics. By using these tips, you can transform an ordinary bookshelf into a stylish, engaging focal point that complements your home’s decor while showcasing your personality and interests.

Step 1 Strategically Place Books on the Bookcase While Incorporating Decorative Elements. When placing books back on the shelves, think about the arrangement, vertical stacks are more traditional, horizontal stacks more modern, or both for more visual interest. Adding decorative elements such as picture frames, vases, or sculptural objects to break the monotony. Incorporating items with varying heights can create a dynamic arrangement. Use larger items like art pieces or baskets on lower shelves and smaller decorative objects higher up. Aim for a balanced look while avoiding perfect symmetry. This creates an organic flow, drawing the eye naturally across the shelf. Incorporate asymmetrical groupings for added interest, mixing textures, colors, and shapes.

Step 2 Use Color Wisely and Add Natural Elements. Color plays a role in styling a bookcase. You can opt for a monochromatic palette for a sophisticated look or introduce pops of color for a more energetic vibe. If your books are of various colors, pick a few colorful decorative pieces that complement or contrast them effectively. Integrating plants or natural elements can breathe life into your bookcase. Small potted plants can add color and texture.

Step 3 Create Zones and Add Personal Touches. If your bookcase has multiple shelves, consider creating zones or themes for different sections. Infuse your personality into the bookcase through memorabilia, travel souvenirs, or personal artwork. These pieces add a storytelling dimension and make the space uniquely yours.

est-selling cookbook author and culinary personality Alex Snodgrass is back with a fresh collection of recipes designed for the realities of everyday life. Her fourth cookbook, Everyday Eats: 100 Simple and Healthy Recipes for Real Life, releases August 25 and offers home cooks practical, flavor-packed meals that fit even the busiest schedules. Originally from Celina, Snodgrass has built a loyal following through her brand, The Defined Dish, where she shares approachable recipes that prioritize wholesome ingredients without sacrificing taste. With more than one million followers across social media and three consecutive New York Times bestselling cookbooks, she has become a trusted voice for families looking to put nourishing meals on the table. Now living in Dallas with her husband, Clayton, and daughters, Sutton and Winnie, Snodgrass says this latest cookbook reflects the season of life she's in today. As a working mom balancing school pickups, activities and family dinners, she understands the challenge of preparing healthy meals when time is limited. That experience inspired Everyday Eats, her most accessible cookbook yet. The collection features 100 recipes built around pantry staples, shorter ingredient lists and simple techniques that eliminate unnecessary steps while delivering the bold flavors her readers have come to expect. The goal is to help home cooks spend less time stressing over dinner and more time enjoying it together. The cookbook is organized by meal, making it easy to find inspiration whether you're planning make-ahead breakfasts, quick lunches, weeknight dinners or a simple dessert. Readers will find everything from Bacon Gruyere Egg Cups and Easy Banana Nut Muffins to Chicken

Shawarma Salad, Marry Me White Bean Soup, Skillet-Baked Ziti with Sausage and Ricotta, Saucy Chipotle Chicken Tacos and Garlic Shrimp Stir-Fry. Sweet treats like Cowboy Cookies and Baklava-Inspired Energy Bites round out the collection. Throughout the book, Snodgrass continues the philosophy that has made The Defined Dish a favorite among home cooks. Healthy meals don't have to be complicated, and great food should bring people together. Everyday Eats: 100 Simple and Healthy Recipes for Real Life will be available wherever books are sold beginning August 25. Food Stylist is Adam Pearson and Prop Stylist is Genesis Vallejo

MORE THAN

a Bag

A BLEND OF FASHION AND FUNCTION 54

FASH ION F OR WA R D | STYLE + BE AU T Y

A purse does more than hold your phone, keys, and wallet. It quietly pulls an outfit together while also handling the practical side of everyday life. That balance between fashion and function is what makes a great purse feel less like an accessory and more like part of a personal style. Some bags are designed to stand out. A bold color, metallic detail, or structured shape can instantly become the statement piece of an outfit. Even with simple jeans and a white T-shirt, the right purse adds personality and intention. Other times, a purse works best when it blends in. Neutral tones, soft leather, or minimalist designs create a polished look without stealing attention from the rest of the outfit. These subtle bags are often the ones people reach for every day because they work with almost everything. CONTINUED >

Of course, style only goes so far if a purse is impractical. The best bags are the ones that fit real life. A roomy tote helps someone move from work meetings to errands without missing a beat. Even a small clutch has a purpose for evenings out when only the essentials matter. Fashion trends may change every season, but the role of a purse stays the same. It adapts while still serving a purpose. That’s why people often invest in bags they truly love. A good purse is dependable, but it also can make a fashion statement. In many ways, a purse is one of the few accessories that people use every single day. It carries necessities, reflects personal style, and can completely change the tone of an outfit. Whether bold and eye-catching or simple and understated, a purse proves that fashion and function can exist beautifully together.

THE NEW RULES

Modern Home Style PHOTOGRAPHY BY JANIE JONES | ARTICLE BY KALI KASPRZYK HOME OF RYAN AND HILLARY BADER

For years, the rule was simple. Pick a palette, pick an aesthetic, and let it carry through every room. The all-white kitchen led to the allwhite living room led to the all-white everything. That era is over. The most interesting homes right now are doing something braver. They’re letting each room hold its own mood. What ties them together isn’t a single look. It’s the materials they keep coming back to: warm brass, sculptural lighting, marble, stained wood, and quiet neutrals holding it all together. We toured one home that gets it exactly right, and pulled out ideas worth borrowing.

4. WARM MODERN The all-white kitchen meets warm wood. Cream cabinetry stays, because the light it gives you is hard to beat. But the island gets a stained wood treatment that grounds the whole space. Brass pendants and hardware add glow. Velvet stools soften the lines. This is the kitchen the next decade is building toward.

5. THE JEWEL BOX Small spaces, big swing.

1. RESORT ENERGY Outdoor rooms designed with the rigor of interiors. This isn’t a backyard. It’s a destination. From the lined-up lounge chairs to the scalloped umbrellas to the green-striped pillows repeating across the deck. The lesson here is to stop treating outdoor furniture as an afterthought. Pick a palette and commit.

2. SCULPTURAL CALM One bold gesture in a quiet room. Everything in this great room is whispering, from the cream walls to the linen sectional to the chandelier’s delicate brass rings. And then a tree, reaching toward the coffered ceiling like it grew there on purpose. When the rest of the room is quiet, the boldest thing you can put in it is something alive.

Antiqued mercury glass, a brass faucet, fluted glass cabinets, golden pulls on crisp white shakers. The idea is to treat your tucked-away corners (bars, powder rooms, butler’s pantries) as the place to take your most theatrical swing. The smaller the room, the bolder you can be.

6. COLOR COCOON Saturated color in rooms meant for rest. Deep sage-spruce walls, ivory bedding, an antiqued mirror catching the shutter light. Proof that calm doesn’t have to mean beige. Color, used right, is the most restful thing you can put in a room. Find your shade and let it hold you.

7. BUILT FOR PLAY Rooms that don’t apologize for being fun.

Dark dining rooms are back, and better than ever.

A game table under a crystal chandelier. A leather club chair next to a telescope. A theater tucked in around the corner. The best entertaining spaces are the ones built for actual use, not just for looking at.

Bold taupe walls, an oval black table, sleek chairs, and an oversized round mirror standing in for art. The bright, airy dining room had its decade. Now bring on the supper club.

Different rooms, different moods, one home. The new rule, it turns out, is that there doesn’t have to be one.

3. MOODY MODERN

1 Tbsp salt 3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil 1/4 cup onion, finely diced 4 garlic cloves, finely diced or minced 1 lb fresh tomatoes, halved or chopped (I use garden cherry tomatoes if in season or Roma tomatoes are a good choice) Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes 3 basil sprigs, divided 1 lb. spaghetti 1 cup Parmesan, finely grated, divided 1 Tbsp butter

DIRECTIONS 1. Heat medium-size Dutch Oven or large skillet over medium heat then add extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of salt. Once hot, add chopped onion then saute until tender, 2-3 minutes. Add fresh garlic and saute until golden but not brown, another 30 seconds.

2. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan with a pinch of sugar then simmer on medium-low for 20-25 minutes. Stir and press the tomatoes against the bottom and sides of the pan to make saucier. If sauce begins to pop too much, turn down even further. (If sauce starts to thicken too much add pasta water as needed.) 3. Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to boil for the pasta and season generously with salt. 4. When sauce is almost ready, add fresh basil leaves torn into small pieces, plus butter, remaining salt, and freshly cracked pepper. Add more salt to taste if needed. 5. Cook the pasta until it’s just shy of al dente then transfer it to the sauce pot with tongs to finish cooking directly in the sauce. Add splashes of pasta water if needed to cook pasta all the way and to keep it saucy. 6. Toss pasta and sauce with 1/2 Parmesan cheese. Serve in pasta bowls and sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Garnish with fresh basil.
