Celina, TX June 2026

Page 1

Smoke, Sport, and Social

June in Celina just hits different. The days are longer, the evenings hang on a little later, and there is a built in excuse to fire things up, head out, and make the most of it. In this Men’s Issue of Celina Lifestyle, we are leaning into all things guy approved. A little smoke, a little sport, and a lot of good times.

Let’s start where every great summer story begins, standing around a grill. This month is all about pit boss perfection. We are talking low and slow, the perfect sear, and the kind of recipes that get passed around like gold. It is not just about the end result, it is about the process. The checking, the flipping, the “just one more minute” moments that somehow turn into an afternoon well spent.

Then there is the big stage coming our way. The FIFA World Cup is headed to Dallas Fort Worth, and you can already feel the buzz building. It is not every day the world shows up in your backyard, and this is one of those moments you will want to be part of, whether you are a die hard fan or just there for the atmosphere.

If you are looking to get in the game yourself, the grand opening of TOCA Social brings a whole new way to play. It is part competition, part hangout, and all fun. No pressure, just good shots, good laughs, and maybe a little bragging rights.

And before you load up and hit the highway this summer, we have you covered there too. Our road ready feature is all about getting your vehicle dialed in for summer travel. Think oil changes, tire checks, topping off fluids, and making sure everything under the hood is ready to go the distance. Because nothing ruins a road trip faster than being stuck on the side of it.

So fire up the grill, tune up the ride, and get ready for a summer that does not sit still.

We'll see you around town!

Is Now Really the Right Time to Buy?

Here’s What You Need to Know

If you’ve been scrolling through the news lately, you’ve probably seen a lot of alarming headlines about the economy, global events, and housing affordability. And if you’re thinking about making a move, it’s only natural to wonder: should I wait?

Here’s my honest take — no, you don’t have to.

What’s Been Happening With Rates

For most of 2025, mortgage rates were on a slow, encouraging downward trend. Then, about a month ago, they started creeping back up. It caught a lot of people off guard, and I get it — when you’ve been watching rates inch down and finally start to feel that sense of possibility, a reversal stings.

But here’s the context behind it. As Mark Fleming, Chief Economist at First American, puts it: “Mortgage rates have recently moved higher, driven by geopolitical uncertainty and rising energy costs that are contributing to inflation concerns.”

In other words, it’s not a housing market problem. It’s a reflection of what’s happening in the broader world.

Your Opportunity Didn’t Disappear

A month ago, rates were sitting just under 6%, and buying felt a little more within reach. Today, they’re hovering in the mid-6s, which does push monthly payments higher. I won’t pretend otherwise.

But here’s what I want you to hold onto: if you’re financing a $500,000 home at today’s rates, you’re still saving around $300 per month compared to buyers who purchased early last year. That’s real money. That’s progress that hasn’t been erased.

Sure, a few weeks ago the math looked slightly better. But trying to perfectly time the market is a game nobody wins. Things shift too fast, and waiting for the “perfect” moment often means missing a perfectly good one.

The smarter move? Make the best decision you can with where things stand today — and go in prepared for some bumps along the way.

Rates Will Keep Moving — And That’s Okay

This won’t be the last time we see mortgage rates

fluctuate. New economic data comes out, global events unfold, and rates respond. That’s just the reality of the market we’re in.

What I always tell my clients is this: you can’t control what happens overseas or what the Fed does next month. But you can control how prepared you are. And when you’re prepared, the headlines start to feel a lot less personal.

Life Doesn’t Wait for the Market

The buyers I’ve been working with lately haven’t stopped moving because of rates. They’re moving because life is moving — a growing family that needs more space, a job that’s pulling them to a new city, a season of life that’s simply calling for a change.

Those reasons don’t pause for economic uncertainty. And they don’t have to.

For buyers who are ready to move forward, there are still smart strategies on the table. Adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs), for example, can offer a lower rate upfront and might be worth exploring depending on your situation. It’s not a one-size-fits-all answer, but it’s a reminder that options exist — you just need someone to help you find the right ones.

What Having the Right Team Makes Possible

This is where having a trusted agent and lender in your corner really matters. Together, we can:

Walk through what the numbers actually look like for your budget at today’s rates

Explore financing options — including ARMs and down payment assistance programs

Keep you informed every step of the way so nothing catches you off guard

Bottom Line

Uncertainty doesn’t mean you’re out of options. If you need — or simply want — to move, the path forward still exists.

Let’s sit down and talk through what that looks like for you. Your situation is unique, and with the right plan, we can make your move happen.

We take the guesswork out of real estate.

MASTERING THE ART OF SMOKED MEATS

WOOD PAIRING SUGGESTIONS

Light Meat (Pork and Chicken) pairs with Fruit Woods: Cherry Wood, Apple Wood, Pecan Wood Fruit Woods are used because they are less harsh on the lighter meats. Lighter meats cook faster and absorb more smoke. With mesquite, oak, or hickory woods, it can easily make the lighter meats taste bitter or sour.

Dark Meat (Beef) pairs with heavier wood: Mesquite, Oak, Hickory Wood Mesquite, oak, and hickory are best used on beef. Beef is denser and will not absorb as much smoke, so harsher woods will work without leaving the meat bitter or sour. These meats tend to have a savory flavor.

Ingredients

• 3–5-pound Beef Tri Tip

• Black Pepper

• Kosher Salt

• Garlic Salt

• Onion Powder

• Olive Oil

• Worcestershire Sauce

• Foil or Butcher Paper

Suggested smoking method

• After 1 hour, mix 50/50 Water and Worcestershire Sauce

• Lightly spritz Water/Worcestershire Sauce on Tri Tip to keep it moist.

• Repeat step 3 exactly 1 hour later.

Final Step.

• 1 hour after the last spritz, take Tri Tip off the smoker and place it in Foil or Butcher Paper with more water and Worcestershire Sauce. Use a slightly heavier amount this time so it puddles under the Tri Tip. Wrap tightly and place back on the smoker for 2-3 hours.

Your Family Wealth Quarterback

Ramirez Family Wealth Leverages a Team Approach to Execute Every Play in Your Financial Plan.

Men often feel they have to know all the answers, do all the work themselves, and never reach out for help. However, that outdated expectation no longer holds up in any area of life, and least of all in wealth management.

“In the financial world, as your wealth grows and you’re at the top of your game, often running a business with employees, you carry a lot of weight,” says Homer Ramirez, Private Wealth  Advisor at Ramirez Family Wealth of Raymond James.

But, he asserts, no one can do it alone. “Strong leaders must have a team they can rely on,  because they can’t know everything. Good decisions are made when you get good, smart people  who care in the same room for the common good of solving the problem.”

That goes for Ramirez himself, a husband, a father of four, and a certified financial planner  (CFP), certified private wealth advisor (CPWA), and a certified exit planning advisor (CEPA). In his own business, Homer says, “I have

to lean on other experts that bring value to help my clients in areas that aren’t my expertise.” That often includes CPAs, attorneys, and insurance professionals.

Managing his clients’ money is a piece of the puzzle, but his practice focuses primarily on helping small to middle market business owners unlock generational wealth and preserve it for their families, whether that’s helping them exit their business, real estate, or stress testing their plan and balance sheet. Through their process, the team uncovers gaps such as liability risks, tax exposure, a misalignment of their estate, or lack of documentation—things that can derail and impact families more than the stock market dropping 20 percent.

“Nobody in the industry—whether you’re a CPA, attorney, investment advisor, or financial planner—can solve those problems holistically for a client,” Homer says. “It takes the  coordination of multiple experts in different disciplines to do that . . . we help coordinate that  team.”

THE TEAM APPROACH

That’s where having a trusted team proves invaluable. While some of Homer Ramirez’s clients already employ a CPA, an attorney, a financial advisor, and insurance professionals, each often operates in a vacuum, with no coordination across disciplines. That, says Ramirez, is where the gaps and exposed risks occur. Like a quarterback directing the huddle, he builds relationships and coordinates with his client’s team of professionals (if they have them), or he introduces his clients to his own team of trusted and vetted third parties to ensure all the ships are going in the same direction.

Ramirez offers every new client or prospective client who walks into Ramirez Wealth  Management a complimentary second opinion “stress test,” a regular exercise done by family offices for ultra wealthy families. First, he gathers information and has a conversation

to find out where they currently are financially and where they want to be. Then he takes the information to his team and they collaborate, often identifying exposed gaps in legal structures, how taxes are being filed, insurance coverage, investments, and more. Ramirez presents the findings to the client, along with potential fixes to close the gaps. The client is welcome to have their existing team of professionals implement the ideas, or they can work with Ramirez’s team.

In an industry where professionals tend to stay in their own lane, Ramirez Family Wealth’s holistic approach is game changing. Ramirez also ensures the implementation of the plan. “A  great plan on paper means nothing if it isn’t executed,” he says. “Part of my job is making sure

“A great plan on paper means nothing if it isn’t executed,” he says.

that things get done after the meeting when my client is back in putting out fires mode. That may mean calling them, scheduling a meeting, going to the meeting with them . . . whatever it takes to make what they said is important to them actually gets resolved.”

A successful road trip starts long before you hit the highway. Whether you are planning a quick weekend getaway or a longer summer escape, preparation is the key to a smooth, stress-free journey. From vehicle maintenance to cleanliness and comfort, taking the time to get road trip ready ensures your focus stays on the memories, not unexpected problems.

Start by thinking about your vehicle as the foundation of your trip. A well-maintained car not only performs better, but it also keeps your family safe and your travel plans on track. Before loading up snacks and playlists, make sure your vehicle is in peak condition, clean inside and out, and ready to handle the miles ahead.

“Having trusted local businesses handle your pre-trip prep gives you confidence that everything has been thoroughly inspected and professionally maintained.”

Before any road trip, it is essential to check the basics. Tires should be properly inflated and show no signs of excessive wear. Fluids like oil, coolant, and windshield washer fluid should be topped off, and your battery should be in good working condition. These small steps can prevent major disruptions once you are on the road.

Equally important is knowing where to turn if something does come up. Having trusted local businesses handle your pretrip prep gives you confidence that everything has been thoroughly inspected and professionally maintained.

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE

When it comes to making sure your vehicle is road-ready, this local shop is a go-to for many North Texas families. Known for its transparent, customer-first approach, the team provides everything from routine maintenance to advanced diagnostics. Their ASE-certified technicians use modern tools and take the time to clearly explain any recommendations before work begins.

What sets them apart is their focus on trust and communication. Instead of overwhelming customers with technical

jargon, they walk through each step so you feel confident in your decisions. Whether you need an oil change, brake inspection, or a full pre-trip check, this is a smart first stop before heading out of town.

From vacuumed floors to spotless windows, a detailed vehicle makes the ride more enjoyable and even safer by improving visibility and reducing distractions. This Prosper favorite offers a one-stop solution for both cleanliness and quick maintenance. Drivers can take advantage of full-service car washes, detailing, and even oil changes all in one convenient location. Their services go beyond a simple rinse. From interior vacuuming to wax treatments and inspection services, they help ensure your vehicle looks great and performs well. It is an easy and efficient way to check off multiple road trip prep tasks in a single stop.

FIFTH GEAR AUTOMOTIVE

Even with basic maintenance covered, it is wise to have a trusted repair shop you can rely on for deeper inspections or last-minute fixes. Road trips put extra strain on vehicles, especially in Texas heat, so having confidence in your car’s performance is essential.

A professional inspection can catch small issues before they turn into costly breakdowns miles from home. Serving the Frisco area, this shop is known for dependable service and a commitment to keeping vehicles running smoothly.

From scheduled maintenance to more complex repairs, experienced technicians focus on quality workmanship and efficient service.

Having a reliable partner like this gives drivers peace of mind, especially before longer trips that demand more from your vehicle.

6449 Coit Rd ste 102, Frisco

Once your car is ready, it is time to think about comfort and convenience. Pack an emergency kit with essentials like a flashlight, jumper cables, water, and basic tools. Keep snacks, chargers, and entertainment within easy reach, especially if you are traveling with kids. Getting road trip ready is about more than just packing a bag. It is about preparing your vehicle, creating a comfortable environment, and setting yourself up for a smooth journey from start to finish. By relying on trusted local businesses and taking a little extra time before you leave, you can enjoy every mile with confidence.

Plan your route ahead of time but allow flexibility for spontaneous stops. Some of the best road trip moments happen when you take a detour, explore a small town, or discover a hidden gem along the way. Because when your car is ready, your only job is to enjoy the ride.

Isabelle Boddie

OUTSTANDING STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

Sponsored by Lamar National Bank

It is with great pleasure to announce the Outstanding Student Athlete of the Month as selected by the Celina Independent School District (CISD) Athletic Coaching Team. This month’s selection is senior Isabelle “Izzy” Boddie.

Izzy is a left-handed pitcher and first baseman for the Celina High School varsity softball team and has been a four-year varsity player. One of her favorite memories came early in her career when she hit a home run in just her third varsity game as a freshman. Her senior season delivered another standout moment when she hit two grand slams in a district game against Sanger. Throughout her high school career, Izzy has earned numerous honors, including Bobcat Grit as a freshman, Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-District, and Academic All-District as a junior, with additional senior recognitions still to come. She began playing softball at age six and continues to compete at a high level with Texas Glory RWB 18U. In addition to softball, Izzy was also part of the first class of the Celina girls’ wrestling team, demonstrating her versatility and competitive spirit.

Izzy credits her passion for softball to a dream she shared with her father, Trey. “The game of softball was always something we dreamed about together,” she shared. After achieving her goal of making varsity as a freshman, her father passed away just one month later. She has since continued to honor that dream by working toward becoming a collegiate athlete, something she has now accomplished.

Off the field, Izzy has been actively involved in Young Life, FFA’s wool team, Special Olympics, and adapted sports throughout all four years of high school. She truly eats, sleeps, and breathes softball while also giving back to her community. Izzy will continue her academic and athletic career at Cowley College in Kansas. Congratulations to Isabelle “Izzy” Boddie on being named the June Outstanding Student Athlete of the Month sponsored by Lamar National Bank!

SCORE BIG AT TOCA SOCIAL

HIGH-ENERGY SOCCER AND BITES LAND IN NORTH TEXAS

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY TOCA SOCIAL

Are you ready for a one-of-a-kind adventure packed with high-energy fun, laughs, and unbeatable vibes for your next night out with family, friends, or coworkers? DFW scored big, pun intended, with TOCA Social exploding onto the entertainment scene.

Think soccer reimagined. That is the perfect description for TOCA Social, a new interactive entertainment experience located at Grandscape

in The Colony and the first location in the United States. TOCA, pronounced toe-ca, Social opened this past March, perfectly timed for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It combines the passion of professional sports with accessible, social play.

TOCA is Spanish for touch or play, and that is exactly what you do at TOCA Social. Inside the more than 20,000 square foot venue are numerous interactive games for all abilities, even if you have never kicked a soccer ball before. The immersive games feature ball delivery, where players kick the soccer ball, and digital tracking technology similar to the “small ball” training method created by Eddie Lewis, a two-time U.S. World Cup veteran and MLS player.

Lewis is the founder of TOCA Soccer, an indoor training center that uses advanced technology for unique and specialized training. North Texas is already familiar with TOCA Soccer, as it is home to four training centers. The method has proven both successful and popular. As a result, Lewis reimagined the training technology into an entertainment version of soccer that anyone can enjoy, leading to the creation of TOCA Social.

TOCA Social offers a variety of exciting games filled with challenges that keep players engaged. Guests compete in private spaces called social boxes. Each player takes turns in a lighthearted competition, choosing from five games designed for all skill levels. Many games include elements of luck, so it is not just about skill.

For example, one game has players kick the ball at a screen to hit atoms and split them for points. Another game, Striker, is perfect for beginners,

allowing players to aim at targets to score. TOCA Social will also introduce new games in the coming months. No cleats are required. Guests can wear their own tennis shoes or rent specialty shoes from the Boot Room.

While enjoying the games, guests can also indulge in delicious food and beverages. TOCA Social features a chef-driven global street food menu that includes Texas favorites such as birria tacos and spicy fried chicken. A full-size dining room is available for both players and non-players, offering options for everyone, including a kids menu and a full bar. The menu focuses on shareable, handheld items perfect for a social experience.

There are many ways to enjoy TOCA Social beyond the games. With large screen TVs and immersive sound, it is an ideal destination to watch your favorite sporting events in a dedicated viewing area with stadium-style seating. It is a standout spot for watch parties in the Metroplex. Guests can also enjoy foosball tables, an arcade, a festive photo booth, and a lively bar.

Planning a bachelor or bachelorette party, family celebration, or corporate event? TOCA Social is

well-suited for both large groups and smaller gatherings. The venue offers state-of-the-art event spaces, along with group games that add a fun twist to meetings and celebrations.

“2026 is an incredibly exciting time for soccer in America and Dallas,” says Alex Harman, TOCA Social President. “This is our first venue in the United States outside of the United Kingdom. We chose Grandscape for many reasons, including North Texas being a leader in entertainment and home to one of the most passionate soccer communities, from MLS to grassroots youth programs.”

“This is the year of soccer in the U.S., with significant attention on Dallas. We are thrilled to introduce TOCA Social at this moment,” Harman adds. “We want soccer fans to see TOCA Social as the Soccer Fan Dome. If you are new to the sport, it is the perfect place to experience it for the first time. You do not have to be a soccer enthusiast to enjoy TOCA Social, but it is a great place to start.”

TOCA Social officially opened on March 6, 2026. TOCA board member and U.S. Women’s National Team legend Abby Wambach attended the ribbon-cutting ahead of the grand opening. The venue has quickly become popular, so reservations are highly recommended. Guests can book experiences for group outings, celebrations, and matchday viewing events.

AN EXCERPT FROM EPISODE 6 OF SHARE THE LIFESTYLE, A CITY LIFESTYLE PODCAST

Photographer: Brittany Dawn Short

Creative Director: Jen Birn

Stylist: Stephanie Coultress O’Neill

Location: Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin, TX

MIKE JOHNSON HAS BUILT HIS LIFE AROUND ONE QUIETLY RADICAL IDEA: THE STANDARD YOU SET PRIVATELY IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS.

After eight years in the Air Force, a celebrated run on national television, and a health crisis abroad that sent him deep into supply chains and ingredient certifications most founders never touch, the result is Oshun — a luxury ritual brand built on provenance you can trace and integrity you can verify. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Mike shares what it actually takes to build something worth putting your name on. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full episode.

Q: YOU BECAME A FAN FAVORITE ON THE BACHELORETTE AND THEN LEFT THE SPOTLIGHT. YOU MOVED TO MEXICO, LEARNED SPANISH, THEN COSTA RICA, AND BUILT A COMPANY. WHAT DID THAT EXPERIENCE TEACH YOU ABOUT HUMAN BEHAVIOR?

A: “If you’re a good person going in, that shows. If you’re not, that shows too. I also learned that people form this parasocial relationship with you — they assume things about you. When all actuality, different circumstances bring out different parts of who you are. I was on TV trying to find love. The kindness people were showing after felt a bit fake, because they wanted to be a part of something that isn’t who I am individually, but a part of what they saw on TV. And so I had to get away from everybody and everything and the noise.”

THE QUIET STANDARD:

MIKE JOHNSON

“Too many people have prayed for me. So I’ve got to get up and do the walking.”
— Mike Johnson

Q: YOU JOINED THE AIR FORCE RIGHT OUT OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE. WHAT WERE YOU ACTUALLY RUNNING TOWARD?

A: “There was something in me that was saying: I’m not living up to my full potential. I was being a follower. My uncle said, ‘What’s going to make you become an adult the fastest?’ I said, obviously, the military. The Air Force broadened my thought process more than anything. We’re so caught up in our own perception — when you learn to understand different people’s perspectives, it adds to you in so many ways.”

Q: WITH OSHUN, YOU OWN YOUR MANUFACTURING, YOU EMPLOY A CHEMIST, EVERY PRODUCT HAS A BATCH NUMBER TRACEABLE TO ITS ORIGIN DATE. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO THAT DEEP WITH THE BRAND?

A: “The EU bans 1,100 ingredients in personal care products. The U.S. bans nine. That’s my starting point. Oftentimes, it might be the same ingredient, but it comes from a place where it doesn’t have the highest purity. And 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed. Every product Oshun makes carries a batch number that goes back to the exact day it was created — I can show you every single supplier, the date, the origin. I own more than one part of the supply chain because that’s the only way I can stand behind what’s in the bottle.”

This conversation is just the beginning. Mike goes deeper into why he’s buying land up north, the family in the Philippines who prayed over his factory floor, and what he’d tell every person ready to stop performing and start building. FIFA WORLD CUP 2026

ONCE IN A GENERATION MOMENT

GOOOAAALLLL! The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex is one of eleven cities in the United States selected to host the FIFA World Cup 2026™. This month, nine soccer matches, including a semifinal, will be played at AT&T Stadium, temporarily called Dallas Stadium.

Beginning on June 11, 2026, the FIFA World Cup 2026™ will welcome fans from all over the world for FIFA’s most historic tournament. This marks the second time the Metroplex has hosted FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). The first was 32 years ago. In 1994, the World Cup came to the United States for the first time, hosting six matches in Dallas. It also served as the headquarters for the International Broadcast Center, where the entire tournament was transmitted across the globe.

Since 1994, soccer’s popularity in DFW has continued to grow. The region is now the second largest youth soccer community in the United States, with more than 200,000 youth athletes playing in the area. In addition, the U.S. Youth Soccer headquarters is located in Dallas. Dallas is also the fifth largest media market in the country, making it a logical choice to once again serve as the home of the International Broadcast Center. The Metroplex also boasts outstanding venues such as AT&T Stadium, Fair Park, and Toyota Stadium, home of FC Dallas, making DFW the perfect location.

The FIFA World Cup takes place from June 11 through July 19, 2026. During this time, fans will enjoy the ultimate experience at the FIFA Fan Festival™ at Fair Park, home of the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. This free event will include live match broadcasts, concerts, games, food, and family friendly fun. Attendees can experience interactive games, giveaways, and contests from corporate partners and host city supporters. Families and children can also participate in the Mini Pitch and Skills Zone, filled with contests, pickup games, and drills to enhance their skills. With an estimated 35,000 to 100,000 fans in attendance, the FIFA Fan Festival™ is the place to be if you cannot attend a match.

“The World Cup is a once in a generation moment, and through the North Texas Sports Foundation, we are turning this moment into a lasting legacy by investing in our communities through safe places to play, public art, sustainability, and programs that expand access and opportunity, ensuring the impact of 2026 is felt for generations,” said Jaime Cabrera, Donor Relations, North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee.

The influence will be felt across DFW. Teams will train and stay at four base camps, which serve as the primary training and headquarters for participating teams throughout the tournament. These locations range from Mansfield to Frisco, including Toyota Stadium, Southern Methodist University, the Cotton Bowl, and Mansfield Stadium.

Hosting World Cup teams is great news for cities with a strong soccer presence. Frisco, for example, is home to FC Dallas, a member of Major League Soccer. The club moved to Frisco with the opening of Toyota Stadium in 2005 and is currently undergoing a multimillion dollar renovation and expansion.

Celina is another community heavily influenced by soccer. This past spring, the Celina High School women’s soccer team made Texas history by winning its fifth consecutive state championship. The soccer legacy is strong and growing in Celina.

Earlier this year, Celina was also introduced to Rodeo Soccer Club, a professional men’s team joining United Soccer League League One, a growing league in the third tier of professional soccer. Rodeo SC is sanctioned as a Division III team by the U.S.

Soccer Federation. Its inaugural season will begin in 2027, and it is an affiliate of Texoma FC.

Texoma FC is a semi professional club that competes in USL League Two. The team is based in Sherman along the Texas and Oklahoma border. It is currently enjoying its second season with strong success.

“The World Cup has always marked a turning point for soccer in the United States. In 1994, it helped launch professional soccer as we know it today. In 2026, with the scale, visibility, and infrastructure now in place, it has the potential to push the sport from steady growth into the mainstream,” said Ben Watson, former professional soccer player from Celina and Sherman, Texas, and founder of Rodeo Soccer Club and Texoma FC.

Watson continues, “For North Texas, this is about more than hosting matches. It is a catalyst for long term growth. With millions of visitors expected and billions in economic impact, the 2026 World Cup will elevate the game across our region and across the country. Most importantly, it will inspire the next generation of players, fans, and communities who will carry soccer forward long after the tournament ends.”

Held every four years, the FIFA World Cup is the largest and most prestigious soccer tournament in the world. National teams from across the globe compete for the title of world champion. The tournament is projected to generate a 1.5 to 2.5 billion dollar economic impact for the DFW Metroplex. It will be the largest tournament in FIFA history, featuring 48 teams and 104 total matches, with Dallas hosting the most games of any host city.

The match schedule is as follows:

Match 11, Sunday, June 14, 2026: Netherlands vs Japan

Match 22, Wednesday, June 17, 2026: England vs Croatia

Match 43, Monday, June 22, 2026: Argentina vs Austria

Match 57, Thursday, June 25, 2026: Japan vs TBD

Match 70, Saturday, June 27, 2026: Jordan vs Argentina

Following these games, there will be two rounds of 32 matchups, one round of 16, and a World Cup semifinal.

For more information about the FIFA World Cup 2026™, visit the host website at DallasFWC26.com. There, you will find details about the FIFA Fan Festival™, daily events, match schedules, and helpful transportation and parking tips for events throughout the DFW area.

Congratulations to the DFW Metroplex for keeping the soccer spirit alive and bringing the World Cup back to Dallas.

The renowned Mokara Spa invites guests to slow down, unwind, and reconnect with restorative massages, rejuvenating facials, nourishing body treatments, and couples experiences, all within a full-service spa and salon. The second annual  SMOKE: Celebration of Fire and Flavor will feature three renowned pitmasters and Michelin-starred chefs from Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama. The weekend begins with the Legends of the Flame VIP Dinner on Friday, June 19. On Saturday, June 20, each chef will be joined by five pitmasters for the Barbecue Showdown. GUYS’ GUYS’

Has it been too long since your tribe gathered to rib and one-up each other as only guys can do? To help plan a getaway for just the guys, City Lifestyle gathered an eclectic list of locations offering tons of things to see, do and experience. Here’s hoping the only ribs one will get on this guys’ getaway are the kind to hold in hands while barbecue sauce drips onto shirts.     Scottsdale/Phoenix

There’s no other tournament on the PGA Tour like the Waste Management Phoenix Open and no hole like the legendary 16th, where 20,000 boisterous fans boo the tee shots that miss the green. The other 51 weeks of the year, golfers can play TPC Scottsdale or try one of more than 200 courses in the Scottsdale area, a top golf destination. Another winter event is the BarrettJackson Collector Car Auction. Even if one’s only collector car was a Hot Wheels, it’s a blast to peruse the acres of autos for sale before heading inside to watch the unique or renowned cars crossing the auction block. When it’s time to get moving, the strenuous hike up Camelback Mountain in nearby Phoenix

is a bucket-list item. Need a more moderate trail? Experience the same magic of the majestic saguaro cactus in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

New Orleans

It’s always a party in New Orleans (NOLA), especially when it comes to festivals, many of them centered around music. Folk to funk, gospel to jazz, zydeco, blues, African and other musical styles are celebrated on the Jazz and Heritage Festival’s 12 stages. If free admission is more desired, don’t miss the French Quarter Festival featuring local musicians and food vendors representing dozens of New Orleans restaurants. Part of the fun of Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo is admiring revelers’ watercraft, some of them homemade just for this festival on the banks of Bayou Saint John. If one of the festivals can’t be attended, there’s still plenty of NOLA live music, particularly the jazz clubs on Frenchmen Street. And when a break from crowds is needed, take a guided swamp tour. Kitschy, yes, but it’s a hoot to cruise around on a swamp buggy while looking for alligators.

Bowling Green, Kentucky

“America’s Sports Car” is produced at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, where visitors can join guided tours to observe Corvettes being built and learn the fascinating history of these sexy autos. See examples of all Corvette generations at the National Corvette Museum. And if the need for speed is still felt, a few times a year Xtreme Experience offers driving or ride-along events in exotics like Ferraris or Lamborghinis at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park. After getting all revved up, cool down at Mammoth Cave National Park, the longest known cave system in the world and a World Heritage Site, where guided tours take participants through tunnels humans have used for thousands of years. And after all this touring, the Bowling Green area is the southernmost point in the Kentucky Bourbon Trail of distilleries.

Austin

Live music rules here, with iconic venues such as Antone’s, The Continental Club, the White Horse and hundreds of other locations, from dive bars to big stages. From rock and blues to country and urban, music is heard every night of the week (and many afternoons as well). When guys are hungry, there are tons of barbeque and Tex-Mex joints. Unique food trucks are truly a thing here, with nearly 2,000 food trailers in town. Burn some calories biking or running the Southern Walnut Creek Trail or one of many paved paths. Get out on the water in a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard on Lake Travis or Lady Bird Lake. Take a dip in the historic Barton Springs Pool, where the underground springs keep the water around 68 degrees all year.

FOUR GREAT PLACES FOR GROOVES, GRUB AND GAWKING WITH BEST BROS

The bluegrass state of Kentucky with the Appalachian Mountains is indisputably known as the Mecca of bourbon and the location of America’s only Bourbon Trail.

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail, established in 1999, is dotted with a total of 37 distilleries scattered throughout the regions of Louisville, Western Kentucky, Bardstown, Lexington and North Kentucky.

For bourbon aficionados and road trip lovers alike, the trail promises scenic country drives, historic architecture, and an abundance of restaurants and tasting rooms with some distilleries spanning more than 100 miles apart.

The most popular bourbon distillery locations one might expect to see along the trail are: Angel’s Envy, Maker’s Mark, Michter’s, Wild Turkey, Heaven Hill, Lux Row, Old Forester, Four Roses, Evan Williams, Bulleit, and Jim Beam.

Within each distillery and on its grounds, bourbon lovers can expect to find a variety of bourbon price points, flavor profiles, distilling and aging techniques, and historical points of interest. Each location offers a variety of tour options: some focusing on the chemistry of bourbon distillation, the art of tasting, the barrel charring process, or the rich (and checkered) history of bourbon’s origins.

A TOUR OF AMERICA'S ONLY BOURBON TRAIL

TOASTING

One constant seems to remain—most Kentucky distilleries cannot broach the topic of their favorite drink without also offering a glimpse of its history. The name “bourbon” hails from the original Bourbon County, which was a region carved from a portion of the Fayette County of Virginia in 1785. The county, which belonged to the then-brand-new state of Kentucky, was named in honor of the French House of Bourbon to show gratitude to King Louis XVI for his vital assistance during the American Revolutionary War.

Prior to its exodus from the region, loads of white oak barrels cut from the forests of Arkansas were first branded with the Bourbon County label. The county logo branded on the barrels soon gave way to its shorthand references: Bourbon. The rest is, quite literally, history.

THE

The oldest operational distillery in Kentucky is Maker’s Mark, which began distilling in 1805 and has since been recognized as a National Historic Landmark. In 1964, a Congressional Resolution declared bourbon to be an indigenous product of the United States. This distinction renders bourbon as the official American Spirit. To be recognized as a bourbon, a spirit must meet specific and strict requirements set forth by law. In fact, bourbon distillation marks one of America’s very first examples of a consumer protection law with the establishment of the “Bottled-in-Bond” Act in 1897 (The Bottled-in-Bond designation have bourbon standards which supersede those of single-malt Scotch).

All bourbon starts as what distillers refer to as White Lightning—an uncolored, unaged, and unflavored whiskey. During the distillation process, the liquid must not supersede a proof of 160, and must not supersede a proof of 125 at the time it’s poured into barrels to begin the aging process. All bourbon must be aged in new, charred, white oak barrels for a minimum of two years before it is finally bottled at 80 proof or higher. No other dyes or flavors may be introduced into the distilling or aging process if a bourbon is to retain its namesake.

Even though 95% of bourbon is distilled in Kentucky, bourbon does not need to be distilled in the state to be considered authentic. Most bourbon was historically made in Kentucky due to its geography. The rich source of limestone in Kentucky earth acts as a natural aquifer, purifying the water and removing the more peaty flavors one would find in spirits distilled with earthier water quality, such as Scotch. The varied temperatures, humidity levels, and weather patterns in the Kentucky region cause the white oak barrels to contrast and swell. This unique aging process gives bourbon its signature amber hue as well as its sweet and dynamic flavor.

While the tour itinerary is flexible enough to have many starting points, the official “start” of the trail can be found at the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Welcome Center located at the Frazier Museum on Historic Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville. The destinations along the trail can be planned a number of ways: by distillery, by region, or by organized tour itinerary. Some distillery locations are packed as tightly as an 8-mile radius, with the average tour lasting about 90 minutes.

For those who want to travel off the beaten path, several famous distilleries in the area do not appear on the official Kentucky Bourbon Trail list. One of the more famous of these is the Buffalo Trace Distillery, responsible for distilling bourbon of that name as well as the more rare and sought-after bottles of Blanton’s and E.H. Taylor. The Buffalo Trace distillery is located on a national landmark and offers free tastings, as well as Ghost tours for those who are interested in a different kind of spirit.

In An AI-Driven World of Endless Ideas, Execution Is The New Advantage

There’s an economic principle that when the price of something drops to zero, people tend to overconsume it.

That’s exactly what AI has done to ideas.

Before AI, generating a strong business idea took effort. It required research, time, and a willingness to sit with a problem. You had to talk it through, think it over, maybe even sleep on it. That friction may have felt like a bottleneck, but it also served as a valuable filter.

Today, you can prompt your way to dozens of “strategic” directions in minutes. And if you’re wired like most entrepreneurs, especially those of us with a little ADD mixed in, that’s not a superpower. It’s a trap.

I operate several businesses, and I’ve never struggled to come up with ideas. If anything, that’s been the problem.

When AI came along, I was as excited as anyone. It’s incredible at brainstorming, strategy, and generating possibilities. I leaned into it hard. Too hard.

It didn’t take long to notice something. I was having these great conversations with AI, full of energy and opportunity, but very little was actually getting done.

The ideas were free, so I consumed them like they were free.

Idea. Idea. Idea. Idea. Idea. No execution.

Your brain feels productive because you’re exploring possibilities, but nothing compounds. Entrepreneurs are already prone to this. AI just poured gasoline on it.

The truth is, most businesses don’t fail because they run out of ideas. They fail because they run out of focus.

A few weeks ago, I took a deep dive into the numbers in one of our ecommerce subscription businesses: CAC, churn, lifetime value, and cohort behavior. I brought AI into that process, and the results were remarkable. Within seconds, it

identified patterns I would have missed. It analyzed tens of thousands of data points faster and more efficiently than I ever could on my own.

That’s when it clicked.

The real value of AI isn’t in the ideas it generates. It’s in helping you measure and execute the ideas you’ve already chosen to pursue.

The question shifted from “What new things should we try?” to “How do we run better experiments on the lever we already know moves the needle?”

For us right now, that lever is churn. If we improve retention even slightly, it compounds quickly across thousands of transactions. A onepoint improvement in churn can move the business more than launching an entirely new product.

Once I locked in on that, the role of AI changed completely. It stopped being a strategy generator and became something far more valuable: a COO, analyst, and project manager helping execute the strategy we had already chosen.

Instead of generating endless ideas, AI now helps us analyze cohorts, measure experiments, draft campaigns, test offers, and interpret results. It helps us move faster on the things that actually matter.

The structure I’m using is simple: one lever per quarter. Right now, that lever is churn.

So what does that look like in practice?

Instead of asking open-ended questions, I’ve given AI a job description. And with that comes one rule: If AI suggests a new channel, product, or strategy that doesn’t support the current lever, I capture it and leave it alone. Chasing it now would mean abandoning the experiment already in progress.

Entrepreneurs like to think their superpower is coming up with ideas. But that game has changed. AI has made ideas abundant.

Discipline in execution is now the differentiator.

The companies that win aren’t the ones with the most ideas. They’re the ones who execute one idea long enough for it to work.

That might be the most important lesson AI has to teach us.
