Home is much larger than the four walls we physically live in. Home is a feeling that surrounds us. It’s experiences, relationships, and memories, a place where we feel a sense of peace and belonging. Home is the USA. Home is freedom. Home is Texas. Home is our city or hometown. Home is a place where you can truly be yourself. Some feel at home in a park, on a lake, walking through the woods or through the neighborhoods. Home is where our roots are. Home is where we entertain. Children might feel at home in their grandparents’ loving arms or when a baseball player rounds third base, they head for home. Home is safety. Home is comforting. It's good to find your special place to call home. Whether in your mind or at a specific location, there’s truly no place like your home!
“The magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave, and it feels even better to come back.” –Wendy Wunder
Our Home Issue prides itself on bringing new fresh ideas about creating a better place to reside and call home in Cedar Park and Leander. Follow Texas Window Store’s path to success in providing long-term value with expert installations
ARTICLE BY MEGAN MARSHALL
Jesse Westphal’s entry into the world of windows and doors wasn’t a typical one. With a background in digital marketing, what he knew about the trade was enough to build an effective website for his client, Texas Window Store.
“I saw the opportunity and I took it. After all, the home service industry is just going to continue growing.”
Getting to know more about the growth of the industry firsthand sparked a curiosity. So, when the previous owner of Texas Window Store decided he was ready to close up shop and head to Florida, Jesse saw his chance. Instead of letting it slip by, he proposed taking over and worked out a plan for a seamless transition. Come June 2019, the business was his.
The only problem? He was living in Arizona at the time.
“I had never even been to Texas before. I flew down for two weeks and met with a Realtor every day. We drove all over the city, and we ended up where we are now,” says Jesse. “My wife had never been to Texas either, and only saw the house through the videos I took and the pictures that were online.”
Of course, his wife wasn’t just along for the ride—she did her homework. She ensured the Greater Austin area offered everything they needed:
good schools and a place for their three kids to thrive as they built the business. In the months ahead, they were packing up with confidence, ready to make Texas their home.
Once settled, Jesse continued learning everything he could about manufacturers, quality materials, and what customers truly want out of their windows and doors. Now, he was also able to further establish the key relationships with custom home builders, general contractors, remodelers, and of course their internal team, which had been a challenge to do from hundreds of miles away.
“Our installers are such good guys who do such great work,” says Jesse. “My brother actually ended up moving out here from Utah to help. He’s got more of a construction background, doing electrical work. So, right now, he’s in charge of making sure the projects run smoothly while I’m running the business.”
What really drives Jesse is the satisfaction of transforming homes and interacting with clients who appreciate the long-term benefits of energy-efficient windows—saving money while enhancing comfort.
“We’re not there to just push a certain product on people. We want to find out what’s important to them, what they’re looking for, and provide that to them,” says Jesse. “Not all customers are the same and not all windows are the same. The homeowner’s not going to know the difference between two white vinyl windows, so it’s our job to educate them.”
Texas Window Store works with a mix of toptier and local manufacturers like Marvin, Pella, Andersen, ProVia, NT, and Vistamark to offer customers a wide range of options that meet their unique needs.
While residential projects make up the bulk of their work, Jesse and his team have also completed notable projects for Rouse and Vandegrift High Schools, a dorm at the University of Texas, and a number of single-story businesses. They’re even gearing up for a massive undertaking alongside a custom remodeler—a house on the lake with 130 windows.
“We offer a lifetime installation warranty, although we don’t have to use that very often because we don’t sell low-quality windows,” says Jesse. “We’re a full-service replacement company that’s a red carpet experience. It all starts with an in-home consultation.”

The story of WR Woodworking began in Haskell, Oklahoma, where Wes Reynolds was inspired by his grandfather, a skilled furniture maker. During his college days at Texas A&M University, Wes crafted furniture for his dorm room, quickly gaining attention from fellow students.
After a career in tech, he returned to his woodworking roots, turning his passion into a family business with his wife, Jody, and a dedicated team of craftsmen.
“Wes’s dream is to have one or more of his grandchildren learn the craft of woodworking to continue the legacy of WR Woodworking,” says Jody. “We’ve been blessed to receive orders for custom stair treads, tables, and countertops from across the U.S., as far as Hawaii.”
A standout project came from the Texas Historical Society, which commissioned WR Woodworking to create period furniture for Stephen F. Austin’s San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site.
“We had to research what each piece originally looked like, and use native woods from that era, like cypress from the Guadalupe River or other local rivers and streams,” says Wes. “It was not only extremely fun to recreate pieces built in the 1830s using the same type of tools and materials, but also educational, learning from the past like I did with my grandfather as a boy.”
WR Woodworking collaborates closely with clients to design unique pieces, starting with consultations to understand their vision and purpose. From selecting wood and stain colors to the occasional sawmill field trip, every detail is tailored to make something one-of-a-kind.
“We love helping clients find the perfect piece for their home, from building butcher block countertops to built-ins for that ‘What are we going to do with that space?’” says Jody. “One of our favorite things is when we bring in their order and watch their eyes light up, hearing them say, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s more than what I expected!’”

Our curated gift boxes are a unique, personal way to congratulate a new homeowner. We can select an upscale collection of move-in necessities or develop fun themes that fit the recipient’s tastes and hobbies. We can also add monograms or logos to many items
We carry a wide array of stock and custom-order maps of any town, city, or lake. Choose from laser-engraved wood wall hangings, archival paper prints, ceramic plaques, or coasters. We can even frame our prints.
Do you charcuterie? Chances are, new homeowners do too! Cutting boards, cheese knife sets, serveware, and local food items make great housewarming gifts individually. Or we can construct an amazing gift basket to enhance their next charcuterie experience. Ask about our custom-engraved wood boards!
Candles are go-to, reliable gifts. But consider elevating them by creating a housewarming scent collection. Select multiple scents in varied containers, including multi-purpose vessels like our hammered brass bowl candles. Then add matches, candle care kits, small trays, and reed diffusers. The recipient can use them over time or all at once throughout their home.
A clean home is a common goal for most homeowners. So, organization books, guides, and kits are great gifts for those who relish the opportunity to start fresh in their new home.
When in doubt, pair a gift certificate from our shop with a bottle of wine! Your friend or family member can choose their new favorite thing or you can specify one of our services, such as a one-hour consultation for in-home design.

Across Cedar Park, the types of cuisine are as diverse as the people who call this city home. With a melting pot of residents coming here from across the country and beyond— and even those who have lived here all their lives—Central Texas at large reflects a multitude of culinary traditions.
Founded in Austin, Texas by Mary and Nelson Monteith, Honest Mary’s nourishes communities through healthy, delicious, and convenient food options. They bring the principles of home cooking to each location, hand-preparing fresh, simple ingredients daily. Their mission is to improve lives, one meal at a time.
In 1840, the first Del’s frozen lemonade was made in Italy by Great Grandfather DeLucia. With the family’s later move to the States, the product blossomed into a Rhode Island staple—and is now served here in Texas! Catch them serving their all-natural treats at local events.
From health-conscious eats to the most indulgent treats, there’s something for people of all ages and diets to enjoy.
Kick off the day with lunch at Honest Mary’s, where you can try one of their signature bowls or build your own, complete with several choices for market sides and sauces. Then, stop at the sign of the lemon for a taste of Del’s Lemonade where flavors range from blueberry to peach mango to a little something special for the season. Next, to sample rare craft beer finds and discover your new favorite IPA, stout, or sour, swing by the laid-back environment of
The Brewtique. And end your adventures with dinner at Ramen512, where the noodles, broths, tare, and toppings are made from scratch.
Of course, it’s not just the food and drinks that make our local eateries stand out. Much like these four, many spots are community hubs, where friends and families gather to share meals and memories.
Next time you decide to step out on the town, consider where you can dine to support local and experience the heart of the city.

With an impressive selection of over 175 local, regional, and national brews, The Brewtique is a craft beer lover’s paradise. Sip on any of their creations while diving into some fun with board games, darts, foosball, and classic pinball machines. It’s your chance to unwind.
What started as a passion for ramen quickly became a culinary journey for Chef Vinh Thai. Ramen512 went from pop-ups in Austin to a brick-and-mortar that was voted one of the best new restaurants. Leading with bold flavors, they are dedicated to serving the most exciting ramen.

Through Reynolds & Co. Electrical Solutions, Brian Reynolds loves seeing clients experience a finished product, from perfectly designed control systems to stunning, functional lighting that transforms their home or business.
However, he didn’t plan to become a licensed electrician. His journey into the trade began by accident, thanks to a scheduling mix-up in high school. “Electronics” sounded a little too close to “electrical,” landing half the students in the wrong class.
“Coach Williams told us computers would take over our jobs. Then he taught us about starting your own company, going through all the licensing and how you’re protected in the job trade, before saying, ‘Well, let me show you how to blow things up safely,’” says Brian. “That’s what got me.”
Brian went on to grow a professional lighting company for boat dock marinas, but felt a pull toward high-end residential work during a side gig. Driven by a passion for new challenges, he founded BR Capital Holding alongside Reynolds & Co. to help other business owners launch their ventures.

“Our technology has really progressed over the years. It can change in the blink of an eye. But nothing surprises me now,” says Brian. “We’re always ahead of the curve, always one step ahead, making sure we have the knowledge to do any and every project that comes our way.”
Reynolds & Co. collaborates with architects, designers, and homeowners to create seamless lighting and custom fixtures. Grateful for the path that led him here, Brian recognizes that each moment has contributed to his ability to provide luxury.
“Keep your mind open. Everything you learn can be adapted and put into any career path,” says Brian. “Soak up every knowledge base like a sponge.”
