My goodness, how Cedar Park has blossomed and grown since that time into a magnificent and thriving metroplex! We are so happy to be here with you, our Readers! It is with gratitude and sincere appreciation that I say Thank You to our wonderful Founding Business Partners who helped bring this beautiful publication to life. It was a random Tuesday at a Crumbl Cookies location in Florida. The line was out the door and wrapped around the building. Back in the kitchen, Madison Schefer was shocked and excited about the fantastic day of business ahead. She would go on to find out that the reason behind the influx of cookie sales was a review on TikTok, the popular short-form video app. With the company’s dramatic expansion across the nation alongside its current 5.7 million TikTok followers, the rest, they say, is history. “Social media has been a huge part of our growth,” says Zachary Schefer. “Each week, we announce our flavors on social media on Sunday night at 7:00 PM CST. We love that people watch and wait to see what flavors we will have.” Before Crumbl Cookies was even born into existence, Zachary and Madison had moved across the street from Jason McGowan, the current CEO. Once the business kicked off, the two recognized how valuable and unique the product was. Madison recalls her time as a delivery driver, dropping off cookies until two in the morning across Utah Valley. With the rising public interest in the constantly changing flavors, the Schefer siblings decided it was time to join forces for their own Crumbl Cookies location in 1890 Ranch. There were months of anticipation once the news broke. When they opened their doors, they were greeted by a never-ending crowd of cookie lovers. “It was so awesome. We didn’t expect it to be as big as it was. We had more business than we could handle,” says Zachary. “But to have so much support from the local community meant a lot to us. We love that we were able to bring something that we love to the Cedar Park area.” “The energy was absolutely astounding. I remember getting our first customer and had goosebumps throughout my entire body. I don’t think I stopped smiling that entire day,” says Madison. “It was such an amazing experience to be a part of something starting from the ground up—finding the location, unpacking boxes, painting, prepping, organizing, hiring, and training for the first day. I had the opportunity to man the line outside so that we didn’t get too full in the lobby. I loved talking with everyone in Cedar Park and hearing that they were just as excited as I was.” Since that opening day, the Schefers have been busy around the clock. As the owners, they get to the store early to work alongside their employees, conduct interviews and training, order ingredients and fulfill daily communications. On a weekly basis, with the latest rotation of flavors, they are learning about and teaching employees new cookie-making techniques. “Sometimes the responsibility is intimidating, especially as a 23-year-old girl,” says Madison. “But it has been such a great learning experience and I’ve made connections that I will cherish forever. I only ever work for companies where I feel like I truly love and want to represent the product, and Crumbl became that for me.” Visit Madison and Zachary at their Crumbl Cookies location at 1335 East Whitestone Blvd.

Yet, at 22, looking back on everything that you’ve gotten to do in life thus far, you recognize what it means to come home. October marks the start of my favorite time of the year. While I may not remember putting on my

Amber Larsen has grown up understanding that to succeed at something takes time and heart. She has also been taught the importance of giving back. This is why, with the opening of Eden Medical Spa, she aims to provide a better work-life balance for her staff. She hopes to help single mothers make a decent living without having to live at their job. Her initial passion for the cosmetic industry, in particular, stemmed from her own mother, who was an expert in skincare. “As a child, I watched my mom invest in her own skin and then share what she learned with those around her. Her methods were much more holistic and natural, but the love and interest in skin started there,” says Larsen. “In high school, YouTube skin and makeup influencers were a huge part of my foundation, as well.” Larsen’s interest in the field continued to flourish through her young adult years, thanks to her degree in biology. With what she learned during her time at Brigham Young University, she has been able to take that with her into the creation of Eden Medical Spa. Now, she can be seen talking about everything skincare-related at every level of the customer’s journey, from the first interaction through the lifecycle of their treatments. And despite her expertise in medical compliance and aesthetics, she is still educating herself every day. “In college, I was an anatomy TA for several semesters and loved the time I spent with students helping them learn about the human body,” says Larsen. “I have always loved the latest and greatest technology. And thanks to my husband, Matt, I have learned to love finance and business.”
With the intersection of her passions for medicine, technology, and business, Larsen’s dream developed to start her own medical spa. One of the biggest desires for her business was to promote the inclusivity of skin types. Lasers were chosen in accordance with treatments that fit everyone who walks through the door. Historically, this isn’t something that medical spas have done. Larsen wanted to provide the highest quality experience to her patients by utilizing evidence-based procedures that were completely in tune with their unique needs. “Eden is modern and innovative in our approach to solving skin and body issues. Our goal as practitioners is to never stop learning, whether it be choosing to utilize a BBL over an IPL laser or bringing on PDO threads as an alternative to filler,” says Larsen. “We want to understand, master, and deliver the best that our industry offers to our patients.” Through the years, Larsen has gone on a wild ride to get to where she is today. From her experiences, there are two major pieces of advice that she would give. The first is to feel comfortable asking questions. In the setting of Eden Medical Spa, she encourages patients to understand their skin and the different modalities that they offer to help them look their best. She feels that education is incredibly crucial in life in general, particularly when it comes to your skin. Her second piece of advice is to simply never give up. “Some of the hardest things in life have come to me after long stretches of enduring hardship. When life is

“My ultimate goal at Eden is to build a harmonious working environment where our patients feel welcome and truly cared for.” the hardest, just hang on, because you are about to strike gold,” says Larsen. “Five years ago, I was in the midst of struggling through an eight-plus years battle with infertility. Never would I have imagined a beautiful daughter and Eden Medical Spa would be in my life in just a few years.” Larsen is an adventurer and adrenaline junkie at heart. Alongside her husband, she has traveled to 50 countries around the world and seen each of the Seven Wonders. She has also taken up skydiving, scuba diving, longboarding, and snowboarding, just to name a few things. But despite her love of all things fast, Larsen is slowing down as she settles into her new, gorgeous space on Lakeline Mall Drive. Her confidence and enthusiasm about life will
undoubtedly shine upon every client that is looking to similarly gain that confidence and enthusiasm. “What excites me the most will be building the Eden culture with my staff and starting to implement the most important part of the practice—all of you!” says Larsen. “My ultimate goal at Eden is to build a harmonious working environment where our patients feel welcome and truly cared for.” Eden Medical Spa held its grand opening ceremony on August 26th and its garden party open house event that weekend. Larsen has been delighted by the positive reception from the community. She looks forward to expanding her client base and helping them achieve ultimate skin health.

NEW HOPE REALTY GROUP SHOWCASES THEIR STAGING TRANSFORMATION ON A GANN RANCH HOME. Real estate agents find that there are many benefits to staging a home. But at the top of the list is that it makes it easier for buyers to see themselves living in that space. Staging is marketing in its purest form, and marketing is all about fostering an emotional connection. After all, when the house is empty, it appears characterless. It needs to look move-in ready, with the help of furniture and accessories, so prospective buyers can truly feel the warmth that it brings.

New Hope Realty Group set out to accomplish exactly this with their 1,868 square foot house on East Gann Hill Drive. It’s a beautiful two-story home that backs up to the greenbelt. Having been built in 1986, it was due time for the property to receive a renovation. The stager set out to bring out the best in each room. It took her approximately seven hours to complete the project.

With its three bedrooms and two bathrooms, this Gann Ranch property is perfect for a single family. Children will be able to attend school in the Leander Independent School District, as well as enjoy the playscape and pool at the nearby Veterans Memorial Park. New Hope Realty Group was able to close on the property in just over a month. “I was the listing agent and owner of this home. It was an investment property for us,” says Realtor® Kristi Ice Smith. “It sold during the height of the market for more than $106,000 over the asking price.”
One focus for New Hope Realty Group was the open concept living and dining area. Considering the breakfast bar and wet bar built into the staircase, these spaces work especially well for those that entertain. The goal during decorating was to further highlight these memorable additions. “I knew that it was going to be super important to stage it in a very liveable format. The stager took each space into consideration and showcased them perfectly,” says Smith. “This home had a super unique layout, and she captured all of the best features. For those that know Jane Young, AKA Miss Jane, it can be said that reading became one of their first loves. She has seen readers come through her door that now bring their own little ones to discover the joy of books. We sat down to discuss what her experience has been like as a library legend since March of 1998. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TAKE THE JOB AT THE CEDAR PARK PUBLIC LIBRARY, TO BEGIN WITH? JANE: “Bringing the love of reading to the kids... Kids have a natural thirst for knowledge, and hopefully I’m able to foster that love of reading.” WITH THAT IN MIND, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE MOST FULFILLING PART OF WORKING HERE? JANE: “Giving children and teens confidence and empathy with reading. That’s really important. The joy of finding a book they really like or a series... Or even with reluctant readers, helping them choose something that they’re interested in. Because that’s half the battle. Sometimes parents will pick a book for a child but they’re not thinking about what they like. I usually question them about what they are into. Even if it’s Minecraft, we have Minecraft books!” DO YOU HAVE ANY PARTICULAR MEMORIES THAT HAVE STUCK OUT TO YOU THROUGH THE YEARS? JANE: “Probably several! But the most rewarding thing that I hear is that I have parents come back to me years later and tell me what an impact I had on their child, as far as fostering that love of reading. They go on to be avid readers as adults.” YOU HOST THREE STORYTIMES FOR THE KIDS. TELL ME ABOUT WHAT EACH ONE IS LIKE. JANE: “The first one is a baby storytime called Lap Sit. It’s for zero- to 15-month-olds. I set up a bunch of mats and mirrors and foam things for them. We sit around on the mats, we sing, we read one story… Then we do play time where I bring out toys for the babies to socialize. Toddler storytime is at 10:30, and that’s 15to 36-month-olds. That one is about 20 minutes long, and it’s very active. I read books, but then I do a lot of singing and action-type stuff in between because
I know they can’t just sit there. And then pre-school is at 11:15, and that goes for half an hour. We do three stories, some singing in between, and I share a little film that is usually under ten minutes.” YOU HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO OUTSIDE STORYTIMES. HOW DOES THAT COMPARE TO HOLDING THEM IN THE LIBRARY? JANE: “It was really nice because it was all ages. I had a lot more singing and action, and I would read a couple of big books so that everyone could see. I love getting to do outdoor storytime, and I’ll hopefully get back to that soon.” HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH WHAT TO DO FOR EACH STORYTIME? DO YOU FOCUS ON THE LATEST BOOKS? JANE: “My background is teaching, so I always make lesson plans. Just in case I get distracted, I can glance at that on my cart and I pretty much follow it. But I will say that if I have a very active group, I sometimes will change that. I may change a book to a shorter one and do more active things, just to keep their attention. And I’m constantly looking for new books. I’m very thematic, so I do go by themes. If there’s a new book that has come out in the last year or two, I will definitely use it. But there are some that are just really good for storytime.” ONE OF THE WAYS THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO KEEP THE KIDS’ ATTENTION IS THROUGH PUPPET SHOWS. TALK ABOUT THAT KIND OF ENGAGEMENT. JANE: “I try to implement them, especially with the little ones. With my Lap Sit, I always do Old MacDonald, so I have three different animals. Sometimes it can be a funny one. I’ll have a bumblebee, a tiger, a monkey… I try to change it up. I did this on my outdoor storytime a lot. We actually did an entire puppet show outside this summer. We got a puppet stage that was light enough for us to move, and we had a lot of kids there!” WITH THE NEW LIBRARY IN THE PROCESS OF COMING TO LIFE, WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO? JANE: “More space, more staff, and more programs! Right now, we’re so limited because we just have one room. I’m really looking forward to being able to offer more.”

MORE ON THE NEW LIBRARY The master plan behind the new Cedar Park Public Library has evolved since 2014. A decade later, the dream will finally become a reality with the Bell District project. Operations will completely move to the new building as it becomes the civic anchor of a dynamic place with mixeduse development and a park. Architect partner Lake|Flato, known for the Austin Public Library, will be finding the perfect balance between the indoor and outdoor experience. There will be many opportunities for community meeting areas, dedicated activity rooms, and customized play-based learning spaces. After making endless happy memories and changing a lot of lives since the current library building’s opening in 1990, this expansion is sure to bring the community even closer together.
