As summer begins to wind down and the start of school commences, the carefree days of slower morning routines and spending more time adventuring is exchanged for busier school and sport routines and schedules. The summers tend to progressively feel like they fly by the older we get, as do the years, but the simple pleasures of summer never get old. Although the routine of school for our children is often a welcome friend by the time August rolls around, it is generally a little bittersweet. THE NEED FOR SPEED SCOTT MOLITOR, OWNER OF PARKER-BASED MOFAB, LLC, HAS THE PASSION—AND COMPASSION—IT TAKES TO GROW A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS. In 1997, Scott Molitor’s family moved to Parker— just in time to start his sophomore year at Ponderosa High School. “It was super traumatic for me,” he recalls. “Coming from a small town in Minnesota to Parker was a huge change.” Years later, with a thriving business and a family of his own, he can’t imagine living anywhere else. Scott is the owner of Mofab, LLC, a performance automotive shop specializing in part installations, custom alignments, small fabrication work and engine tuning for both street and race cars.

“My passion for cars started young,” Scott says. “I just wanted to make cars go fast, handle better, stop faster.” That’s exactly what Mofab is all about. Scott started his career working for an automotive shop in Parker that “made slow cars fast,” as his puts it. “It was a dream job and I worked for them for almost seven years.” After gaining all that experience, he made the big decision in 2010 to go out on his own. “I didn’t have any money—just my tools, experience and motivation.”

The new business began in a rented warehouse unit in Parker. With a solid reputation and his then-girlfriend’s, now wife’s, help with accounting, the shop got so busy that Scott outgrew the space in a matter of months, moved to a larger location in Centennial and hired his first employee. Within 3 years, the business outgrew that space and found more space in Denver. In 2017, Scott was approached by his old boss in Parker with an offer to buy the business where his career started. “I told him I wasn’t interested in the business, per se, but I would be interested in the building and assets.” After some lengthy negotiating, they came to an agreement and he moved his old toolbox back to the building where it all began.

“This time, it’s my name on the door and I’m in charge,” Scott says. “There are a lot of different emotions that one feels in this situation, so many different lessons learned. As any new business owner will tell you, making the leap is scary but you have to take the risk if you want a shot at the reward.” Mofab has grown from that first employee to a team of six—and Scott is currently on the hunt for a manager. It seems Scott’s business model may be ahead of its time—his shop runs on a four-day workweek. “I value time with my family and I want my team to have time with theirs as well.” It’s obvious that Scott cares deeply for his employees and wants the best for them. “This place wouldn’t exist without the team I have around me. It really does take a team to make a dream come true. These guys mean so much to me and I consider them part of my family.” Check out more of Mofab, LLC at mo-fab.com.

Mel and Maylin’s Fairy Garden Recipe Method for the Perfect Day

Step One Find your perfect container. Maylin and Mel had a fun day shopping around some different local thrift stores and found an old wicker chest and just decided to remove the lid.

Step Two Shop for all the stuff you want and need. Some items we purchased.

Magical summer moments were our Publisher and her daughter’s inspiration when they decided to be adventurous and create their very own Fairy Garden. Mel Mile’s daughter Maylin loves to create different and interesting things and Mel is an avid gardener spending most of her free time either traveling or gardening morning, noon, and night. That’s when they both landed on the perfect Mother- Daughter summer vacation activity to make their very own Fairy Garden. Mel shared that from a very young age her children learned to garden because it was important for their early childhood development to continue to grow into adolescents and eventually adulthood. “Making a garden with your children allows them to learn the basics of gardening and plant care. So why not make a Fairy Garden! A DIY Fairy Garden also makes a fun sensory play area for kids. Manipulating and playing with the soil, plants, other natural materials, accessories, and figurines provide much-needed sensory stimulation to the developing child. Besides, playing in the dirt makes you happy–and there is research to prove it.”

Step Three When planting from new. Lay out the plants first while they are still in their pots. This will help you find the best position before planting. They recommend having the taller plants in the back and the smaller, low-growing plants situated in the front.

Step Four Be creative. Experiment with the placement of all your trinkets, fairy house, etc. Be creative. This is a very fun and creative part not to be rushed.

Step Five Dig In! Once you are happy with your arrangement of everything it’s time to begin. Remove the plants from their containers and begin planting. Use high-quality potting soil that is suitable for your chosen plants and fill to the top of the container so that the plants and pieces are at their best vantage point. Cover all the plant’s roots and soil. Compact the soil especially where any pieces will be placed so they have a solid base to sit on.

Step Six ENJOY! Lastly, introduce your fairy to her new home and enjoy the magic. Have fun, there are no rules in your Fairy Gardening except to have fun. Let your imagination run wild child!

colorado night sky STAR SPECTACULAR FAMILY DATE NIGHT PLACES ACROSS THE STATE TO STARGAZE

If you’re looking for an amazing place to settle down and stargaze, Colorado provides plenty of locations to choose from. Whether you lie under the heavens of the San Luis Valley or get a little closer to the stars on the peak of a stately mountain, there is nothing like seeing constellations speckled across a clear Colorado sky. Pack up the family or stay local and introduce then to a date night they are sure to never forget.

DINOSAUR NATIONAL MONUMENT One of the newest additions to the International Dark-Sky Association's list of Dark Sky Parks for its "exceptional natural darkness," Dinosaur National Monument in the far northwest corner of the state hosts ranger programs and night hikes to get visitors deep into the dark. There are also many prime places to view the night sky with either the naked eye or telescopes and binoculars. Until now, the monument has been most famous for the epic whitewater rafting found on the Dinosaur and Yampa rivers, as well as incredibly preserved dinosaur fossils and Fremont culture rock art. Getting There: Located on the Colorado and Utah border, the monument is a two hour's drive north of Grand Junction via State Highway 139.

GARDEN OF THE GODS ROAD Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is located far enough from city lights for a lucid view of nature's fireworks. The snowcapped white summit of Pikes Peak seems to glow in the dark, set against a backdrop of silhouetted boulders and some of the galaxy’s most beautiful stars. Take in deep breaths of fresh air, lean back and let the constellations captivate you. And when daylight breaks, take in views that are just as gorgeous as they are at night, as the striking red rock formations seem to pierce the blue sky. Getting There: Located just off I-25 at the Garden of the Gods Exit, 1805 N. 30th St., Colorado Springs.

RED ROCKS PARK & AMPHITHEATRE Not only is the all-natural Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison one of the world’s most desired music venues for bands, it’s also a beautiful place to spend an evening stargazing. With its panoramic view of the city of Denver beyond and the solitude of a mountainside setting, Red Rocks is truly a gift of nature. The best time to catch the stars is during one of Red Rocks' summer concerts or Film on the Rocks. Getting There: Located on West I-70 just past the Morrison Exit 259.

GREAT SAND DUNES NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE Great Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa is already otherworldly during the daytime; at night, it’s easy to imagine you’re on another planet. It’s also one of the only wild places in the world where rangers encourage self-guided exploration … in total darkness! To take a gorgeously surreal night-hike without the aid of a ﬂashlight, plan your visit during a full moon. You may be treated to glimpses of the local wildlife, including owl, kangaroo rat, coyote and even bobcat. If you’re more interested in sky than sand, go during a new moon instead; pick up a free star chart and moon calendar at the visitor center. A variety of guided programs are also available during the summer — check the night sky program schedule prior to your visit. Getting There: Located at 11999 Highway 150, Mosca.

HORSETOOTH RESERVOIR Plenty of rest stops along County Road 38E near Fort Collins have picnic tables overlooking Horsetooth Reservoir below. Since not many cars pass by at night, you're offered an uninterrupted view of sparkling skies. If you’re in the mood

for a bit of a hike with a fabulous ending, head to the top of Horsetooth Rock — a bizarre rock formation that resembles an actual horse's tooth — for a view of the city on one side and the rugged mountains, Horsetooth Reservoir and the stars on the other. Getting There: Located on County Road 38E past Taft Hill Road.

UFO WATCHTOWER – SAN LUIS VALLEY At the UFO Watchtower in Hooper, you are in for more than just stargazing. Locals claim the San Luis Valley is a hotspot for alien activity, and dozens of unexplained flying object sightings are rumored to have occurred at this locale since 2007. At the watchtower, there's little or no light competition obstructing your view — so it’s just you, the stars … and perhaps the occasional extraterrestrial flying by. The watchtower offers information on past “encounters” and theories behind the sightings. Come see for yourself. Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones.
