It's time to pull your favorite sweaters into rotation, a season of celebration in our house. We embrace every dropped degree, breathing deeper now that the oppressive southern heat is waning. I was in northern Michigan in July and northeast Washington in August and people there were so dramatic about a few 90-degree days. As of August 1 (when I'm writing this), there have been 39 days already this year where the high temperature has reached at least 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Atlanta. Mercy me!
So yes, we get a little excited about pulling out the cool(er) weather gear. They may sit untouched for a while longer, but at least there's hope.
Enjoy our Style and Design issue where we step inside the shiny world of interior designer Abraham Hernandez (page 32), get a peek into a designer's closet (Following Angela, page 24), and spend the day with the owner of one of Buckhead's hottest modeling agencies (Salt of the Earth, page 28).
We hope you're inspired to embrace beautiful design in your own life today and always.

If Fall 2025 style had a theme song, it’d be the sound of you tossing your clothes around in a three-second panic and miraculously landing on perfection. It’s about power, romance, barely contained chaos and the kind of confidence that would leave your ex on read. So go ahead—layer with reckless abandon, laugh at the rules, and strut like your Uber rating depends on it!
STRIPED MENSWEAR SHIRTING
Let’s be honest—if your striped menswear shirt looks like it just escaped the laundry basket, you’re doing it right. Fall’s favorite shirt is oversized, crinkled, and a little bit rebellious. Throw it under a chunky cropped knit and let those shirttails flap in the breeze, or slap a belt over it and pair with a lace midi skirt—because why not confuse everyone about your intentions? Bonus points for gold jewelry and highwaisted jeans.
ANIMAL PRINTS
Animal print isn’t just back—it’s taking names and stealing the spotlight. Leopard, zebra, python: these aren’t just patterns, they’re a way of life. Slip a leopard skirt on with a butter yellow sweater and bask in the approval of fashion’s trend gods (and possibly your neighbor’s cat). Zebra blouse under a leather blazer? You’re not making a statement—you’re writing the whole book. Treat cheetah like your favorite black jeans. After all, animal print doesn’t age—it just gets more legendary. If you hesitate
to wear leopard print coats or clothing, you can opt for a rolled-up leopard silk scarf as a belt. Small style choices can be just as effective!
Chunky knits this season are so bold they’d arm-wrestle your jacket for closet space. Layer a thick cardigan over a lace camisole or stuff a slim turtleneck underneath—because layering is a competitive sport now. Structured bags, ankle boots, and gold accents keep things looking intentional, even when you got dressed in the dark. If anyone asks, just wink and say it’s “editorially chaotic.”
Fall 2025 has officially declared buttery-soft leather the fashion equivalent of a warm croissant—indulgent, slightly decadent, and impossible to resist. Softly pleated midi skirts are here to convince everyone that yes, leather can indeed be romantic (provided you skip the biker boots and studded chokers). Aside from classic black, shades like deep burgundy and forest green are also expected to be seen. Paired with chunky knits, these skirts say, “I’m sophisticated, cozy and fully prepared to take a nap at any moment.”

As Chief Brand Officer at Chiarabella, Angela Cassisi guides the brand’s design direction across cabinetry, bath and interiors. She is originally from Italy and has been based in Atlanta for just over a year. These are the items she reaches for constantly. They’re not aspirational, "they’re practical, expressive, and rooted in the rhythm of how I move through my day, whether I’m traveling, reviewing materials or hosting clients," says Angela. "Each piece reflects the value I place on design that works without over-explaining itself. While my picks echo the modern taste I apply at work, they’re entirely personal."
They’re well made, thoughtful in function and adaptable to different parts of her workday such as studio time, design meetings, travel, sourcing or evenings out. Each one speaks quietly but clearly to the kind of design that lasts.
Angela shares her picks for the BuckHaven style issue!
I use scarves as punctuation. Sometimes around the neck, but more often tied to a bag handle or packed flat in a carry-on. They add structure to simple looks and let me shift tone, whether playful, directional or understated, without packing a second outfit.
CRAFTS AND LOVE SELENA STUD EARRINGS
These are part of my daily uniform. Made in Atlanta. Clean, small and subtle, but they catch the light enough to feel finished. I’ve worn them in every setting from job site walk-throughs to meetings and gallery openings. They belong without needing to announce themselves.
For many of us raised in Europe, a striped shirt is a default. I prefer them cut clean, slightly structured and always easy to layer. They work when the day starts early and ends late, and they help anchor whatever else I’ve thrown on in between.
I shop at Labels often to add unexpected pieces to a neutral wardrobe. A statement skirt like this brings individuality to structured tops and reliable basics. It makes the outfit feel intentional without needing much else and I like knowing it came from a local spot I genuinely love.
This lives clipped to the inside of my bag. It folds out when needed at lunch, airports or site meetings and disappears when it’s not. Small details like this change how you move through the day. Quietly functional and better than letting your bag hit the floor.
I carry this for both sunglasses and reading glasses. It’s beautifully made and the Mahjong pattern adds just the right amount of personality. Functional but with presence. It’s one of those objects that people always ask about when I pull it out, which says a lot for something that’s technically a case.

In a constantly evolving industry, Salt Agency stands out by staying grounded. Founded in Atlanta by industry veteran Madeleine Almering and joined by co-founder and COO Kelly McGill, the boutique modeling and talent agency brings a distinctly hands-on, values-driven approach to the Atlanta market—one that’s redefining what success looks like in 2025.
And Salt’s roster is diverse by design. “The industry is so much more inclusive now,” says McGill. “Height, body type, race, sexuality and age—none of that limits what’s possible anymore.” Clients in Atlanta, they say, still value traditional beauty, but the demand for authenticity is growing, especially in more urban and lifestyle-driven campaigns.
Social media has also played a major role in that shift. “TikTok and Instagram have changed everything,” says McGill. “Brands want influencers who drive sales. So while we still scout for traditional beauty, we’re also constantly looking for people with a digital presence who know how to connect.”
But that doesn’t mean having a social media following is a requirement. “There’s room for everyone,” Almering says. “The most important thing is how you show up, not how many followers you have. That said, for those pursuing the influencer route, we do look closely at what they’re posting—your social media is your brand.”
ARTICLE BY ELISSA ROSEN
Salt Agency, based in Buckhead, is guided by the core principle “salt of the earth,” and each model on their roster is part of the Salt family. That means they are very selective about who they take on. They pride themselves on their stellar reputation in the industry where their models show up and behave in a way that reflects their core values.
“We’re proud to represent people who aren’t just beautiful, but kind,” says Almering. “Our moral compass is part of our brand.”
Salt’s philosophy is simple but rare: take on models with both talent and character, then guide them every step of the way. “We’re a hands-on boutique agency,” says Almering. “Every single model has both of our personal phone numbers. They can call us anytime. We take a major role in guiding their careers.”
Success in modeling, they emphasize, takes work. “It’s not all glamour,” says McGill. “It’s taking posing and walking classes, submitting tapes, and going on jobs that may not seem exciting at first.
But what separates the good from the great is drive.”
And while Atlanta isn’t known for runways, Salt has built a powerhouse commercial portfolio with brands like Delta, Rooms To Go, and top jewelry and lifestyle companies. The agency also has an influencer division based in New York, bridging classic modeling with modern content creation.
The agency continues to grow steadily by staying intentional and selective. “We’re not one-in, oneout,” says McGill. “We focus on model development and longevity. Ninetyfive percent of our roster is working.”
Salt’s success stories speak for themselves: Aiden Turner, a model-turned-actor, remains on their roster and is known for always being first to submit his tapes. Meredith Mickelson, signed worldwide after
being discovered by Salt, now graces national covers and is a major player in the influencer and modeling space. They also say Benjamin Simic is one to watch and is booking worldwide in major campaigns.
“Our models know their genre—whether that’s commercial, fashion, e-comm, or lifestyle,” says McGill. “We help them focus, refine it and thrive in it.”
At Salt, beauty is only the beginning. The agency’s real power lies in helping people build lasting careers—and communities— rooted in kindness, confidence and a whole lot of hustle.

IT’S POSSIBLE TO SHOW YOUR UNIQUE STYLE WITH NICE CLOTHES WHILE ALSO STRETCHING YOUR DOLLAR
One’s wardrobe says a lot about a person and it is important to dress to the occasion whether it be work or play while still expressing yourself. Building a wardrobe can be a costly expense but it’s possible to show your unique style with nice clothes while also stretching your dollar.
A FUN, SUSTAINABLE WAY TO BUILD A HIGH-QUALITY AND STYLISH WARDROBE
Second-hand and vintage-style clothes are a fun, sustainable way to build a high-quality and stylish wardrobe without breaking the bank. Buying handmade and second-hand also reduces the demand for new clothing production, which helps reduce waste and the environmental impact of the fashion industry.
SOME PIECES ARE SIMPLY BETTER WHEN THEY ARE SECOND-HAND
Some pieces are simply better when they are second-hand like worn denim and lived-in boots or leather that’s softened over time. Get creative and add touches to your old favorites with patches, embroidery, and even natural flower colors transferred to fabric. Grab your old t-shirts, family vintage fabrics, or lace, and pull it all together into something new and memorable.
IT WAS SO PERFECTLY HER AND ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS
My sister, Haley, used an 1800s petticoat and blouse, salvaged Edwardian style Christening gowns and a tablecloth, and other fabrics to create the most amazing vintage-style wedding dress. It was so perfectly her and absolutely gorgeous.
SIMPLE, WILD, CLASSIC, COLORFUL; DON’T BE AFRAID TO SHOW YOUR STYLE
The best way to keep your wardrobe fresh is to look for either trendy or classic new pieces and match them with your favorite vintage or second-hand pieces, like a new dress with your grandma’s old leather jacket or a recently purchased foundation piece with a skirt made from vintage fabrics. Simple, wild, classic, colorful; don’t be afraid to show your style and your financial fashion savvy at the same time.

We create and design homes for our clients' busy lifestyles. A home should feel peaceful and safe.
Keeping up with Abraham Hernandez isn’t easy. His award-winning design studio specializes in kitchen and bath makeovers in Atlanta. Interiors by Abraham has worked on homes of HGTV stars, CEOs, and small business owners, including legendary Braves coach Bobby Cox and Todd Chrisley from “Chrisley Knows Best.” His team’s work is showcased in model and spec homes by top builders like John Weiland and Toll Brothers. It’s all about creating livable spaces for busy entrepreneurs through kitchen and bath makeovers, custom cabinetry, and space planning. We caught up with Abraham to discuss style and inspiration.
YOUR LIFE AND WORK ARE SO VISUAL AND BRIGHT. WHEN APPROACHING A NEW PROJECT, WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?
I get most of my inspiration from travel and nature. I love to collaborate with my clients by gathering their input and understanding their desires for what they want their home to look and feel like. I love color pops with a neutral setting. We create and design homes for our clients’ busy lifestyles. A home should feel peaceful and safe and we combine beautiful textures and color palettes to suit each homeowner.
WITH THE CLIENT AND HIS/HER ASPIRATIONS, OF COURSE. BUT WHERE ELSE DO YOU LOOK FOR CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INSPIRATION?
I love to see Nate Burkus, Jeff Lewis, and Bobby Berk designing with lots of cultural attributes for unique spaces for their own clients. Minimalism and modern are my go-to when it comes to design.
AS AN ARTIST, I’M SURE YOU FIND INSPIRATION WHEN YOU TRAVEL. TELL US ABOUT YOUR MOST RECENT TRIP AND WHAT YOU EXPERIENCED.
I recently visited Florida, with its serene blue water beaches and light-colored sand. The
vegetation and exotic plants spark pops of color and provide a beautiful background for all the places we visited. The skies were light blue against the dark blue water and aqua marine green just crashing into the soft sandy beaches with the sun radiating down on everyone creating lots of peace and joy to everyone.
DESIGN IS SO PERSONAL. HOW DO YOU PULL BACK YOUR PERSONAL STYLE AND FIND THE RIGHT DESIGN FOR A NEW CLIENT?
Again, I make collaboration a priority with my clients creating something NEW and FRESH for their home. Sometimes clients call and say to me they don’t know what they want......I listen and look at their personal style. I study their home and ask lots of questions of what new pieces in their home they love to help focus and deliver a design and palette that they never realized they wanted. If you pay attention to your client, they will tell you what they DON’T like or love so that helps tremendously to help create their home of their dreams. I am an ARTIST by trade so I can go over the top with GLAM and LUXURY bringing in bold and eccentric details to their homes. Of course, I have to create their interiors for them within their budgets so sometimes I have to reel myself in to keep the project within their means and timeline. I do love to make our clients happy and giving them something they never imagined within their budget.
YOUR SERVICES INCLUDE CUSTOM CABINETRY, CABINET PAINTING, REFINISHING, AND MODIFICATIONS. AND ALSO OFFER ELECTRICAL, GRANITE, BACKSPLASH, HARDWOOD INSTALLATION, REFINISHING, AND SPACE PLANNING. WHAT ARE A FEW NEW TRENDS YOU’RE LOVING FOR FALL, 2025?
The current trends and biggest winners of this year and years to come is NEUTRAL and ORGANIC.
CONTINUED >
This helps produce designs in minimalism, Scandinavian, and Modern aesthetics. Lots of creams, whites, with wood-tones, and bold colors for focal points give homes the WOW factor. I love mixing metals and wood tones in dark walnut, and natural pine wood accents and maple. Organic is timeless and you can mix boldness with organic backdrops in spaces like kitchens, basements, and living rooms giving you a fresh new vivid feel to your home that you’ll want to share with your loved ones.
With 2,800 acres and 62 miles of shoreline, Lake Burton is a favorite for long days out on the boat, paddling along the winding shore, and sunset happy hours with friends. Located in Rabun County in northern Georgia, Lake Burton is the northernmost in a series of five lakes that comprise the Tallulah River Watershed. It is one of the first lakes in the United States to be created for power generation in 1920.
Today, families gather on and off the water to make new lake house memories. The north Georgia location means Tallulah Gorge State Park is nearby, with its hiking trails and epic steps along the dramatic 1,000-foot gorge and waterfall. Easy access to the Appalachian Trail skirts main roads and offers day trips with stunning views and a variety of challenges. Charming downtown Clayton with galleries and a nice variety of restaurants and shops is nearby for shopping and groceries.
Back at the lake, nearby LaPrade’s Marina and Restaurant serves up beachy meals, cocktails and music. Easy access out to the lake near the dam and Billygoat Island and a beautiful spot to anchor for the Fourth of July fireworks display, right outside the cove. You can spend hours fishing for trout, skiing or just relaxing on one of the least busy lakes in Georgia. The homes in these coves are coveted, some owned by generations of families who return year after year.
In one of these quiet coves sits a newly renovated home that recently was listed for sale that includes a private dock with
an upper deck for sunbathing and naps, picnic lunches and the happiest of hours. Just off the main lake this setting offers swimming off the deck in a safe and beautiful setting. The boat house also includes two boat slips, perfect for launching your boat or jet skis.
Inside the home, there is a newly renovated kitchen/family room area and three bedrooms, three baths, and 3,400 square feet of newly updated living space with pine hardwood floors throughout and a wall of soaring windows overlooking Lake Burton and the woods. There are two bedrooms on the main level, with a spacious upper level with plenty of room for two queen beds, a sofa, easy chair, and TV for movies and gaming.
To complete this tranquil setting there is a corner screened porch and long upper deck with a hot tub that overlooks the lake.
One of the most unique features of this home is that unlike most on Lake Burton this property is a “Fee Simple lot” meaning you own the property, it is not a Georgia Power lease lot. You can rent this home as an investment and take advantage of the new 100 percent select depreciation tax law, saving several hundred thousand dollars in the purchase. Owner financing is available at 5 percent. More information
