LIFESTYLE LETTER
Confidence Looks Good on You September always feels like a fresh start. The calendar may say we still have a few weeks of summer, but cooler mornings, back-to-school schedules and familiar routines bring a welcome sense of normalcy. In our house, September also means finding missing dance shoes, coordinating calendars and wondering how, despite buying new clothes all summer long, my girls seemingly have “nothing to wear” to school. That makes this month’s Style Issue especially fitting. Style is personal, and it extends far beyond fashion. It can be found in the way we dress, decorate our homes, organize our days and prepare meals that bring people together. The best kind of style is not about following every trend—it is about discovering what feels authentic, practical and distinctly your own. Turn to page 10 for “Finding Confidence Through Personal Style,” featuring Georgia V. Buley of GVLooks. Buley helps clients refine their wardrobes, simplify getting dressed and reconnect with their confidence. Her thoughtful approach reminds us that personal style is not about becoming someone else. It is about feeling more like yourself. Style can also be expressed through art and the stories we choose to tell. Turn to page 30 for “Style That Inspires,” where artist and author Dan Landau shares his portrait collection celebrating 37 remarkable women from history. Inspired by his daughters, Landau created the project to highlight courage, curiosity and perseverance while helping future generations see what is possible. And because creativity belongs in the kitchen, too, turn to page 32 for “The Culinary Magic of Peaches.” Chef David Burke celebrates one of the season’s sweetest ingredients with a colorful recipe featuring grilled pork chops, peaches, plums and bacon. It is an unexpected combination that may inspire your next late-summer dinner. We are also excited to share our September Readers’ Choice: Style Edition. Chosen entirely by reader vote, this month’s honorees represent the local boutiques, organizers and design professionals our community trusts to bring confidence, creativity and function into everyday life. Follow @bridgewater_somerset_hills for more local favorites, community highlights and upcoming Readers’ Choice categories. We hope this issue encourages you to embrace your own style—whether that means refreshing your closet, reorganizing a room, trying a new recipe or simply choosing what makes life feel a little more like you.

Finding Confidence Through Personal Style GEORGIA V. BULEY BUILDS CONFIDENCE THROUGH EXPERT WARDROBE TRANSFORMATIONS.
ARTICLE BY REILLY VENINO PHOTOGRAPHY BY NEV PHOTOGRAPHY

M UST SE E | STYL E + BEAU T Y
For Georgia V. Buley, personal style is about more than what hangs in a closet. Through GVLooks, the Branchburg-based stylist works with clients across New Jersey to refine their wardrobes, build confidence and reconnect with who they are through fashion. "I really love people," Buley says, and it is clear that this passion is what sets her apart from influencers and online style quizzes. Many women struggle to feel confident in their clothes. Finding the right balance between comfort, personal style, body type and the constant wave of social media trends can feel overwhelming. It often becomes both a waste of time and money. Buley's expertise and genuine approach cut through that uncertainty, helping clients discover what truly works for them. Buley studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Although she was initially unsure of her career path, she knew she wanted to work in fashion. That passion led to her first styling position at Nordstrom in The Mall at Short Hills, where she fell in love with personal styling. She spent the next 13 years working as both a freelance stylist and a stylist for The RealReal, a luxury resale marketplace, where she specialized in product styling for seven years. Despite enjoying the work, she realized something was missing. "Everybody has to get dressed every day, no matter what," Buley says. For Buley, that simple truth is what gives fashion its meaning. Styling allows her to positively impact people's lives by helping them build confidence and express themselves authentically. The clothes people wear influence not only how others perceive them but also how they see themselves. "The best part is getting to know people, their families and watching them reach their goals," she says. Buley launched GVLooks more than three years ago to return to the personal side of styling, traveling throughout New Jersey to help clients elevate both their wardrobes and their confidence.
Every styling experience begins with an intake form and consultation to better understand each client's goals. Buley asks about more than clothing preferences. She wants to learn about clients' daily routines, personalities, careers and lifestyles. From there, she conducts her signature style assessment. Unlike online quizzes that focus primarily on colors or patterns, Buley considers how a person's values influence what they wear. For example, someone who prioritizes convenience and flexibility may naturally gravitate toward clothing with pockets, elastic waistbands and machine-washable fabrics. She also asks clients to describe how they want to feel in their clothes, a surprisingly personal question that often uncovers what they have been missing. By understanding both the practical and emotional aspects of style, Buley creates wardrobes that feel authentic rather than trendy. Buley also offers specialized services that help clients build confidence beyond a single shopping trip. From color analysis and closet edits to personal shopping and wardrobe planning, every service is designed to simplify getting dressed each day. Rather than encouraging clients to constantly buy more, she helps them maximize what they already own while identifying thoughtful additions that truly fit their lifestyles. Her goal is to create versatile wardrobes that work together seamlessly, allowing clients to spend less time second-guessing outfits. Working in fashion has also made Buley especially observant of trends. Some, like this summer's scarf belt, may fade quickly. Others, including jelly shoes, have returned time and again since the 1980s and continue to evolve. Her goal is not to chase every trend but to help clients incorporate the ones that complement their personal style while avoiding purchases that will quickly feel outdated. When people understand their own style, they naturally become more selective shoppers, saving both time and money while building wardrobes they truly enjoy wearing.

In today's world of social media, fast fashion and endless online influence, finding clothes that genuinely reflect who you are has never been more challenging. Buley's expertise, kindness and empathy create an experience that goes far beyond shopping. She helps clients build wardrobes that feel authentic, allowing them to look in the mirror and recognize themselves with renewed confidence. This September, Buley celebrates the opening of her own styling studio where clients can visit for color analysis, style analysis, wardrobe fittings and personalized styling services. She also plans to host intimate workshops and small-group events at accessible price points, allowing even more people to discover the confidence that comes from dressing like the best version of themselves. For Buley, personal style has never been about following someone else's rules. It is about understanding yourself first, then building a wardrobe that reflects who you are today and who you aspire to become. Whether she is helping someone prepare for a new career, navigate a life transition or simply enjoy getting dressed again, her mission remains the same: to help every client feel comfortable, confident and completely themselves, one thoughtfully styled outfit at a time. WHERE Healing BEGINS WITH Connection How Emerald Wellness combines clinical expertise, holistic support, and compassionate care. ARTICLE BY BROOKE BOYER PHOTOGRAPHY BY NEV PHOTOGRAPHY
Mental health care is most effective when it addresses more than symptoms. It requires compassion, connection and a deeper understanding of the many factors that shape a person’s overall well-being. That philosophy is the foundation of Emerald Wellness, a New Jersey-based mental health program dedicated to comprehensive, client-centered care. Through its partial care and intensive outpatient programs, Emerald Wellness combines evidence-based clinical treatment with holistic services that support each person’s healing journey. Founded to provide high-quality primary mental health care in New Jersey, Emerald Wellness was created to fill a gap many professionals in behavioral health had witnessed firsthand. Rather than treating mental health as a secondary service, the team built a program that places emotional wellness at the center of everything they do. That philosophy extends far beyond traditional therapy. “We wanted to create a space that looks at the whole person,” says Delia DeLorenzo, director of clinical services. "Mental health impacts every area of life, so treatment should reflect that." In addition to individual therapy, group therapy and medication management, Emerald Wellness incorporates holistic services into its programs. Clients have access to yoga and breathwork, expressive arts therapy, nutritional support through an on-staff dietitian and specialized case management that helps individuals navigate life beyond treatment. Whether someone is returning to school, exploring a new career path, rebuilding relationships or rediscovering hobbies, the team recognizes that healing happens both inside and outside the therapy room.

That commitment to whole-person wellness is especially evident in Emerald Wellness's specialized perinatal and postpartum mental health program, one of the few programs of its kind in New Jersey. Designed specifically for women during pregnancy and the first year after childbirth, the program addresses the emotional, physical and psychological challenges that

can accompany this life changing stage. The curriculum focuses on identity shifts, relationship changes, boundaries, support systems and postpartum recovery. The team has also removed barriers that often prevent women from seeking care. Emerald Wellness offers a lactation room and partners with a neighboring child care provider, making treatment more accessible for mothers who may otherwise struggle to prioritize their own well-being. “For many women, this is one of the biggest transitions they’ll ever experience,” says Lauren Dunbar, director of partnerships. "Having specialized support during that time can make all the difference." While Emerald Wellness emphasizes evidence-based clinical care, the environment itself also plays an important role in healing. Every detail was intentionally designed to feel warm, calming and welcoming. Soft colors, comfortable seating, coffee and tea stations and quiet gathering spaces create an atmosphere that feels less like a clinical office and more like a supportive community. "We wanted people to feel safe the moment they walk through the door," Dunbar says. That sense of comfort extends beyond the physical environment. Because the program maintains manageable client volumes, clinicians provide personalized attention while delivering individualized treatment plans tailored to each person's needs. The team also includes clinicians certified in trauma treatment. Specialized services such as Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), considered the gold standard for chronic sleep difficulties, further demonstrate the program's commitment to treating every aspect of mental wellness. As conversations surrounding mental health continue to evolve, the Emerald Wellness team hopes to reduce stigma and encourage people to seek support before reaching a crisis point. Too often, individuals spend months or even years pushing through anxiety, depression, trauma or burnout before asking for help. By creating a welcoming environment and offering comprehensive support, the team hopes to normalize mental health care as an essential part of overall wellness. "We want people to know we're here," says Dunbar. "Mental health challenges are real, and nobody should have to navigate them alone." At Emerald Wellness, healing is not a one-size-fitsall process. Through innovative programming, specialized support and a commitment to treating the whole person, the team is helping clients build healthier, more fulfilling lives, one step at a time.

GROUND UP
STYLE Style starts from the ground up. Your home’s flooring creates the visual foundation that ties rooms together, setting the stage for everything from wall colors and furnishings to artwork and décor. “A well-chosen floor elevates the overall look of a home,” says Steve Dipollina, owner of Floor Coverings International of Somerset in Hillsborough. Through the company’s

mobile showroom, he brings more than 3,000 flooring options directly to clients’ homes, allowing them to see samples in their own space before making a decision. “Selecting the right flooring for your lifestyle and the specific room is key,” he says. During in-home design consultations, Dipollina or design associate Andrew Egan ask homeowners a series of targeted questions to determine the best flooring solution for their needs. “We ask about their inspiration, budget and long-term plans for the home,” Dipollina says. “Do they have children or pets? How much foot traffic does the space get?” Next, they guide homeowners through the selection process by viewing samples in the home. This approach makes it easier for the homeowner to envision the finished result. “We help educate our customers about the wide range of options available for every space,” says co-owner Katie Dipollina. “For example, many people think tile is the only choice for a kitchen, when in reality there are numerous flooring options.” One of the strongest trends the couple sees is the move toward continuous flooring throughout the home. “Many customers who have several different types of flooring want to modernize and update their space by installing the same flooring throughout,” Katie says. “For example, they may extend the flooring from the living room into the kitchen and bedrooms. We encourage this because it creates a clean, sophisticated look.” The Dipollinas are also seeing growing demand for natural, lighter oak tones and wider planks. This look is neutral, timeless and easy to design around,” Dipollina says. “It provides a versatile backdrop that allows homeowners to be creative with furniture and artwork.” Carpeting trends are evolving as well. “Today’s carpets offer much more visual interest than traditional plush styles,” Katie says. “Many feature multiple colors woven together or distinctive textures that create subtle patterns and movement.” While hardwood remains a favorite choice for many homeowners, Dipollina encourages clients to consider how they will use the space. “People love hardwood because it’s beautiful and adds value to a home,” he says. “However, it isn’t as resistant to water or scuffs as some newer products.” CONTINUED >

For areas exposed to moisture or heavy traffic, he often recommends luxury vinyl or laminate flooring. “These products offer the best of both worlds,” he says. “They provide a realistic wood appearance while resisting scuffs and wear. Depending on the product, they can also be moisture- or water-resistant.” Luxury vinyl and laminate are often more budget-friendly than hardwood and can frequently be installed over existing flooring, helping reduce installation costs and time. “Whether it’s carpet, hardwood, luxury vinyl, laminate or tile, there are far more options available today than there were even 10 years ago,” Katie says. In addition to flooring installation, the company also offers area rugs, stair runners and hardwood refinishing services. Once the product decision is made, Production Coordinator Tim Bigman oversees project scheduling and helps ensure each installation runs smoothly from start to finish. Proper maintenance is essential to keeping new floors looking their best. Dipollina recommends using cleaners specifically formulated for hardwood floors to preserve their finish and luster. reinvented themselves, challenged expectations, or decided to make a difference— whether that meant setting world running records after turning 100 or writing a letter that inspired change. Ultimately, Landau hopes readers walk away believing that meaningful impact isn't reserved for a select few. "I think having some kind of model that you can see even just a little part of yourself in is really helpful to show you what's possible," he says. "And then once you see that, you can build on it in your own way." The project isn't simply about celebrating history—it's about inspiring future generations to imagine new possibilities for themselves. By highlighting women from different backgrounds, professions and eras, Landau hopes readers recognize that courage, determination and curiosity can be found in ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things. In a world that often celebrates what's trending, Landau reminds us that true style never goes out of fashion. Discover these extraordinary stories and view the complete portrait collection at danlandau.net.

Style is often associated with fashion or interiors, but for artist and author Dan Landau, style is something far more enduring. The inspiration for Landau's latest portrait collection began at home with his two daughters. As he wondered what careers they might pursue one day, another thought followed: “Why were so few accomplished women from history immediately coming to mind?” That realization sparked a five-year passion project combining history, illustration and storytelling into a collection of 37 hand-drawn portraits celebrating women whose contributions deserve greater recognition. "If you can see something, you can be it much easier," Landau says. "If you can see it, you can be it." Every portrait serves as a reminder that representation has the power to shape futures. Working from historical photographs, Landau carefully illustrates each subject over meaningful maps connected to their stories. The artwork is paired with extensive research, allowing readers to discover who they were as people. His favorite stories aren't always the most famous. They're the women who

T H E CU L I NA RY M AGIC OF PE ACH E S Chef David Burke brings a playful, modern twist to the smoky magic of peaches
One of my favorite things about this time of year is the abundance of peaches, which are at their prime from July through September. At their peak, their flavor, texture and aroma create a sensory experience, while their balance of sweetness and acidity brings any dish to life. Bottom line: Peaches have a magic all their own.
Peaches have an origin story that stretches back to China more than 4,000 years ago. They journeyed west on the Silk Road to Persia and then on to the Mediterranean world. There, they were embraced by the Romans who planted peach orchards across their empire, helping the fruit take root in Europe. By the Middle Ages, peaches were well established in Europe.

GRILLED PORK CHOPS WITH PE ACHE S, PLUMS AND BACON Chef David Burke
It was Spanish explorers who introduced peaches to the Americas in the 16th century. Indigenous peoples quickly adopted and cultivated them, integrating peaches into their agricultural traditions long before widespread European settlement. Two centuries later, peaches were thriving across the United States, becoming especially associated with the South. Georgia made the peach its state symbol, although South Carolina’s annual peach production is often larger. Today, peaches are grown worldwide—from China (still the largest producer) to Italy, Spain, Turkey and the United States. The standout aspect of peaches is the contrast they embody: firm yet yielding, sweet yet tart, floral yet earthy. That’s what makes them so versatile in the kitchen, playing nicely with savory and sweet ingredients. When raw, peaches resonate with freshness and perfume. When cooked, they deepen, caramelize, and develop a richer, almost honeyed complexity. Their high water content means they break down nicely in heat, creating natural sauces and syrups without much intervention. The following recipe showcases all the characteristics of cooked peaches. Swordfish steaks can be substituted for the pork chops.
Ingredients
• 2 pork chops • 1/2 cup shallots, slivered • 1 peach, cored and thickly sliced • 1 plum, cored and thickly sliced • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
• 1/4 cup honey • 2 tbsp. barbecue sauce • 4 slices bacon, cooked and roughly chopped • 1/2 cup scallions, roughly chopped • 1/2 cup butter • Sea salt
Method
• After patting dry, season the pork chops with olive oil and salt and pepper, to taste. On a grill or in a grill pan over medium-high heat, sear for 5 minutes on each side, until the internal temperature reaches 125 degrees for medium and 155 degrees for well-done. • Meanwhile, in a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the peaches, plums, honey and butter for 5 minutes undisturbed to caramelize the fruit. Then flip the fruit and add the shallots. Sauté for another 3 to 5 minutes until the shallots are just taking on some color and the fruit has caramelized on the other side. • Add the scallions and bacon last and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well. Bring to a simmer. • Place the pork chops in the center of the plates. Arrange the peaches and plums attractively around the pork. • Serve immediately with warmed firecracker peach sauce, which is great with grilled shrimp, too.

FIRECR ACKE R PE ACH SAUCE Ingredients
• 6 cups peaches, chopped • 2 cups peaches, peeled and finely diced • 1 cup seedless serrano chilies, chopped • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar • 1 bay leaf • 1 clove • 1/2-inch cinnamon stick • 1/2 tsp. coarse salt
Method
• Combine the chopped peaches, chilies, vinegar, salt, clove, bay leaf and cinnamon stick in a large, heavyduty saucepan over medium heat. • Cook, stirring frequently, for about 15 minutes or until the peaches are falling apart and the mixture has reduced by half. • Remove from the heat and cool. Remove and discard the bay leaf. Stir in the diced peaches and pour into a nonreactive container. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

PA RT Y P LA N N IN G | EVENT PLAN N IN G + SE RVICE S
Event planning was not originally part of Miller’s career plan. A graduate of Seton Hall University with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology, Miller hopes to help children and adults overcome communication challenges. At the same time, she has grown an event planning business that began with family gatherings and referrals. "It started as a creative outlet," Miller explains. "I love working with people, and every event is different." That balance between structure and creativity has become one of her greatest strengths. While her work in speech-language pathology requires adaptability and problem-solving, event planning allows her to channel those same skills into a completely different environment. For Miller, style isn't defined by a particular color palette, trend, or theme. Instead, it's about understanding a client's personality and translating it into meaningful details. Some clients arrive with a fully developed vision, while others need help discovering what they want. Either way, she begins by listening. "I always want clients to tell me their story first," she says. "Why are we having this event? Who are we celebrating? That's where the inspiration comes from." From there, Miller guides clients through every decision, from colors and décor to vendor partnerships and guest experiences. Her signature approach is highly collaborative, allowing clients to be as involved—or as hands-off—as they'd like. One trend she's especially loving right now is the rise of interactive experiences. Perfume bars, permanent jewelry stations, embroidery activations, and personalized favors have become popular additions that give guests something memorable to take home.
Among her favorite events was an intimate Amalfi Coast-inspired bridal shower featuring lemon-themed décor, blue hydrangeas, handcrafted favors, specialty cocktails, and a pizza truck. Months of planning resulted in a celebration that perfectly reflected the bride's personality—and exceeded her expectations. "When someone walks in and says it's exactly what they imagined, that's the best feeling," Miller says. Though some may be surprised by her age, Miller views it as an advantage. Immersed in the celebrations and trends shaping her generation, she brings a fresh perspective that resonates with today's clients. Combined with her meticulous attention to detail and natural creativity, it's a formula that's helping her stand out. Beyond the beautiful décor and carefully planned details, Miller focuses on creating meaningful, lasting experiences for every guest. She believes the most successful events are the ones guests continue talking about long after the celebration ends. As for what's next, Miller isn't choosing between her two passions. For now, she's embracing both— and proving that style, success and purpose can coexist beautifully. Ready to turn your next celebration into an unforgettable experience? Wear Colors That Truly
LOVE YOU A quick guide to finding flattering shades for life.
KNOW YOUR UNDERTONE Your undertone doesn’t change with the seasons. Check your wrist veins: blue means cool, green means warm, and unclear may be neutral. Cool tones love jewel colors; warm tones glow in earthy, rich shades.
CONSIDER CONTRAST Do you have high contrast between your hair, skin, and eyes (like dark hair and light skin)? High contrast looks great in bold, clear colors. Low contrast (like blonde hair and fair skin)? Softer, blended tones often suit you best.
THE WHITE VS. CREAM TEST Hold a white and ivory shirt near your face. If white flatters, you're likely cooltoned. If ivory glows against your skin, you're likely warm-toned. This quick test reveals your undertone with ease.
BUILD AROUND YOUR “WOW” COLORS Once you identify a few colors that make you look and feel amazing, use those as the base of your palette. These are your power colors—build your wardrobe and makeup around them!
PRO TIP You don’t have to follow rules perfectly. Your color palette is a guide, not a limit. Mix, match, and most importantly—wear what makes you feel beautiful.
