She served on the board for 30-plus years, including terms as vice-mayor and mayor, as well as on the Planning Commission, Sister Cities Board, Park Board, Environmental Board, Historic Commission, and most recently, the Library Board. She had a great love for Brentwood and touched many lives across the community. Her adoration for Brentwood was only surpassed by her love for her family.

Bob was formerly deputy director of the Metro Nashville Planning Department, where he managed the Land Development Division, was the interim director and worked regularly with community groups, elected officials and developers to resolve complex land use and streamline local planning processes. He received his bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and urban planning master's degree from University of Kansas.

On John P. Holt Brentwood Library's Children’s Services Manager Missy Dillingham passed suddenly on Aug. 1. Missy began her nearly 38-year career with Brentwood in 1984 when she became the first and only children’s services manager. She won the Daniel Taylor Memorial Award in 2011, served as head of the Children’s and Young Adults Services roundtable, and has been on several Tennessee Library Association com mittees. She also won the Frances Neel Cheney Award in 2020.
The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County gathered a group of volunteers to prepare the 49th Annual Heritage Ball invita tions to be mailed. Several of the volunteers touted this had been a tradition for them for more than a decade or two. On hand was Heritage Foundation CEO Bari Beasley and ball co-chair Cordia Harrington. I like mixing bling. Being in the creative space, I never really care if something is a “faux paus.” I like to break convention, and keep people guessing. That’s kind of my style, and it’s also something I hope to reflect in the Titans brand.
Jeans are very important for a wardrobe and the fit is essential. I wear them literally everyday. My role has many twists and turns throughout the day – one minute I’m in an executive meeting in one of our boardrooms and the next I’m on location at a pho toshoot with our players. Jeans carry me through everyday no matter what it holds.

I like for my fashion choices to communicate that I am serious, well put-together and thoughtful – but that I also have fun, style and flair in my game. I often say my job is to help the team “Win Heart and Win Minds in order to ultimately Win Wallets.” First and foremost, this means finding compelling ways to engage our fans to bring them closer to the team and our brand. In doing so the hope is to be top of mind for fans across the entire state. We want to give them as many reasons to love the Titans as possible.
Find the perfect fit. Custom fit is especially important for someone this tall, but it’s really an important style tip for every one. I’d recommend investing in at least one fine custom suit with two or three made-to-measure shirts. We all have unique proportions, and even folks who consider themselves “average” have unique fit quirks. I’d encourage everyone to shop with a legit clothier and avoid big box retail chains. Having a good stylist walk you through the process and give you good ideas is another nice aspect of having clothes made for you. While most of us don’t have a body as chiseled as Derrick Henry (speaking for myself first), most men look better with form fitting clothes over a baggy, less structured look, another reason to go custom. Even if you are a little soft in the middle, or have some ‘junk in the trunk,’ a well-tailored button down shirt with nice-fitting pants will always look polished and flattering.
It’s buttoned-up and even a tad corporate, but also really strik ing and fun. This approach sums up how I use fashion and style to establish my personal brand and reputation.
Watches are very much in style. With so many folks shifting to electronic watches and such, it makes it all the more striking when someone wears a more traditional, classic timepiece.
A lot of men and women in corporate jobs have fewer oppor tunities to express themselves through fashion. Most men trend toward what I call “The Uniform,” which is a pair of slacks/jeans, a button down shirt, a jacket and a pair “sensible” shoes. Given how this approach can be kind of dull, accessories can really help you stand out. Sometimes wearing a bright colored or patterned sock can completely change the vibe of an otherwise boring out fit. For shoes, I like tapping into classic styles in non-traditional colors. For example, I love a pair of bright red Allen Edmonds oxford wingtips. Again, the shoe itself is a classic design but the color grabs attention!

The building’s original bow truss was kept in place and in the renovation they exposed the iconic arched roof line. “We wanted to highlight the historic space, adding features and modern amenities that celebrate this unique style of architecture,” Leigh says.
“Saint Elle is an inclusive female-owned business that welcomes and supports all different types of events from weddings and corporate events to photo shoots, art shows and birthday parties.”
Saint Elle has an open vendor policy so clients can choose their own caterers, rentals and other event professionals, but they do provide the bar service. “That's something we felt really passion ately about,” says Leigh. “Our beverage director is a master mixologist and a sommelier. He works with each of our clients to create cocktails and bar offerings that are infused with the personality of the event and host.”
“After eight years of owning and operating the Cordelle, our first venue, we gained a lot of experi ence and knowledge about the industry,” says Leigh Watson, one of the co-owners. “It helped us to create a venue specific to what clients and planners are look ing for in a space.”
The event space encompasses 8,000 square feet all on one level and can comfortably host 650 guests. What makes it really accommodating is the ability to divide the space into smaller areas. The Bow Truss area is by far the largest at 6,000 square feet, with another adjoining 1,000 square feet patio accessi ble through a roll-up glass door. The Conservatory, located right alongside the Bow Truss, adds an addi tional 1,870 square feet that can be used with the Bow Truss or separately. When country music star Chuck Wicks cohosted syndicate radio, he says he regularly asked live audiences, usually tourists, about their plans for the weekend. “It was always to go to Broadway, see the honkytonks, and check out the bars. And then I’d ask, ‘What about the next day?’ and they’d say, ‘Probably the same thing.’ So I got the itch to find options for Nashville. We needed something eclectic with different styles of entertainment. Then I went to a show in Vegas called Absinthe, and it blew me away. I loved the intimacy. I felt I was part of it all, and I wondered – what is the absinthe of the south?” Moonshine, of course. That’s when Shiners was born.
Chuck knew he “wanted an intimate show; circus meets broadway meets com edy." He says he couldn't find the right location, and then COVID hit, so he pushed the pause button. Then, the Woolworth building became available, and he made a decision. “When we had the opportu nity to take a shot at it, I was aware of the building’s history. Once we got it, I found it my responsibility to really learn what this place meant. I knew I had to do things right because it’s sacred to a lot of people.” The Woolworth is known for its con nection to John Lewis and the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. The lunch counter sitins he participated in helped desegregate Nashville’s public facilities in 1960. “We wanted people walking down the street to know what happened here, so we created a window display that everyone could see. John Lewis always wore the same thing for the sit-ins, so we put in a trenchcoat simi lar to the one he wore, a backpack, a copy of his novel, March , and two original stools from the lunch counter," Chuck says. Chuck and his team worked closely with the Lewis family and the Civil Rights Room at the Nashville Public Library to preserve the building’s legacy. Glass protects the Art Deco handrails, and new floors will float over the original tile. He adds, “Anything original to the building is staying. Anywhere you see a backsplash, it’s from the original Woolworth. We’re in such a sacred place. Sometimes buildings go away, and history is lost. As long as I’m in it, and my partner and my team are here, we’ll always preserve it.” Once Chuck and his team secured the building, he honed in on the concept of the show: a family of moonshiners at a reunion. He knew he wanted circus-like acts but needed help sourcing the best talent. So he says when a friend put him in contact with Nappytabs, it upped the game.

Chucks says, “They've done it all. ABC spe cials for Disney, Dancing with the Stars, Jennifer Lopez’s Super Bowl performance. I flew to Vegas to meet them, and we did a “Come see the show, experience the building and its history, and feel the shine.”

Chuck shares that other family members include “the Bo brothers, Jim Bo and Bo Bo, the strong guys. Honey and Molasses Shiner are sisters who fight like hell but love each other. Some families have lost a loved one, and they’re missing that per son. In the Shiner family, that’s Ma.” Chuck is part of the action, too, playing Mason Shiner, the ringleader who keeps the energy up. “As we take you through the journey that is Shiners, we’re hitting all the emotions. There’s romance, fights, and love where you don’t expect it. There are lessons about not judging a book by its cover. As all families do, they have eclectic personalities. That’s what makes families go around," he says. The music will be very familiar. Chuck says it has that scoring vibe one hears in a movie or a Broadway play. Chuck, Emily West, and K.S. Rhoads scored the pro duction and wrote two original songs for Shiners. “There’s a lot of surprises. Songs you might recognize, used in new ways.” Finally, Chuck offers this irresistible and winsome overture: “Welcome to the Shiner family reunion, where everyone’s invited. Take the oath, take a sip, and we’ll let you in on the secrets that make us shine. When you leave, you’ll shine, too.”
Laura Osnes, Broadway legend and Tony nominee, is known for starring roles such as Sandy in Grease, Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde, and Cinderella in the eponymous Broadway show. She will take a turn in the first production of Shiners as Violet, “the sweet, lovable girl who wouldn’t take the last slice of pizza.”

President/CEO Buddy Teaster believes anyone can make positive differences simply by going through personal closets or donating $20. "Helping someone else, especially when providing kids with new shoes, feels great. What I've come to see time and time again, we don't have to do something huge to make a lasting impact," declares Buddy, who mixes his exten sive nonprofit experience with leadership skills and dashes of entrepreneurial initiatives to support the highly skilled Soles4Souls team in assisting people regionally and globally to transform their lives. In the Nashville region, he says last year the nonprofit pro vided approximately 2,000 new pairs of shoes to kids experiencing homelessness, and are on track to pro vide 4,000 pairs this year. For the 4EveryKid program, he says the group works discreetly through school representatives of The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act to ensure marginalized youths have shoes. "It's all about helping kids feel they belong among their peer groups. It's one less life-altering fac tor for them to worry about. It's not their fault they're in really tough spots," he adds "We also helped victims of the Waverly flood in August with apparel and shoes," BuddySoles4Soulssays.

Due to the volume of mate rials that Soles4Souls transports, Buddy says they're dedicated to overall higher standards of usage and even have a Sustainability Council. To get involved with Soles4Souls: Donate shoes in good condition, especially athletic shoes. Start a shoe drive. Volunteer in a donation center. Become corporate partners by engaging employees, supporting cause marketing and hosting donation bins. Start a fundraising campaign.
Around the world, the nonprofit team typically provides 4 to 5 million pairs of shoes to people in need yearly, often through their microenterprise program that helps individuals launch their own businesses by reselling donated clothing and shoes. One program that Buddy says they hope to do more with during 2022 is the Street Business School, a Colorado-based curriculum that gives women around the world the tools to become entrepreneurs to support them selves and their families. "We were working through this program in Africa, and have now taken it into Central America and the Caribbean," he says. "It's about doing it together, with everybody winning a little bit," proclaims Buddy. Its flagship product, a classic cut men’s denim jean called the 37203 (named for a postal code in Nashville), has a slightly tapered leg and the iconic button fly. Erik says he enjoys building a master collection of paintings, custom surf boards and interactive installations by combining energetically charged colors and his unique paint layering process. He admits his approach is influenced by growing up on the back roads and beaches of California. "My collections are a portrait and reflection of my life," explains Erik.
