Fall is officially here, and with it brings a season of new scenery, fun activities, and delicious food. As days get shorter and the leaves start to turn here in Bozeman, we look forward to the winter we know is coming while celebrating the last warm days of the year. In this issue, we're exploring unique date nights with Light House, Plonk, Gallatin River Lodge, and Graze Craze; Mila Azcona's journey to creating Big Sky Eats; and how to design a cozy seasonal entryway for your home with Bozeman Doorscapes. BEAUTIFUL ENTRYWAYS FOR EVERY SEASON
Bozeman Doorscapes creates thoughtfully curated seasonal entryways for homes and businesses throughout the Bozeman area. Founded by Jeremy and Elizabeth Scott, the company combines distinctive, individually sourced décor with personalized design to create welcoming entrances that feel beautiful, intentional, and unique to each space. Bozeman Doorscapes provides the design, installation, removal, and storage—making it easy for clients to enjoy a fresh look each season without having to purchase or store the décor themselves. Bozeman City Lifestyle recently chatted with Elizabeth and Jeremy to learn more about their design process and why they love what they do.

BEAUTIFUL SEASONS START AT YOUR DOORSTEP WITH BOZEMAN DOORSCAPES’ EFFORTLESS, PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO ENTRYWAY DESIGN
aesthetic, and how they want their home or business to welcome guests and customers. What sets us apart is the individuality of our designs. We want each entryway to feel collected and thoughtfully styled rather than pulled straight from a catalog. We also own and store our inventory, which allows clients to enjoy a completely new look from season to season without having to purchase, organize, or find storage for all of the décor themselves. We handle the design, installation, removal, and storage so the experience can simply be enjoyable.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR DESIGN PACKAGES!
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN DESIGNING DOORSCAPES, AND WHAT LED YOU TO STARTING YOUR OWN COMPANY?
We currently offer three seasonal design tiers, along with hourly styling for clients who already own décor they would like us to use. • Tier 1 — Accent: Our introductory offering, featuring a strong focal element complemented by intentional grounding pieces to create a polished seasonal moment. • Tier 2 — Layered: A fuller design featuring statement elements around the door, base styling, and additional layers that give the entryway depth and dimension. • Tier 3 — Signature: This is our full “wow from the street” experience. The Signature package is immersive, abundant, and designed to fully celebrate the season while making the entryway a true focal point of the property. For clients who already own décor they love, we are also happy to provide styling and placement services on an hourly basis. Sometimes simply having a fresh set of eyes can completely transform pieces you already own. CONTINUED >
We were once restaurant owners and also worked in the corporate world, and doorscaping became a creative outlet—first for Jeremy, and eventually for both of us together. We started by decorating our own front door, and as friends and neighbors began noticing and loving what we created, we realized there was an opportunity to turn that creativity into something more. Bozeman Doorscapes grew out of our shared love for beautiful, unique, and thoughtful entryways and the way they can make a home or business feel special before you ever step inside.
WHAT IS THE BOZEMAN DOORSCAPE APPROACH TO CREATING A BEAUTIFUL THRESHOLD TO YOUR CLIENTS’ HOMES? We love sourcing individual pieces from curators we’ve discovered across the country, along with beautiful items found locally here in Montana. Rather than recreating the same arrangement from home to home, we design each doorscape specifically for the space, taking into account the architecture, the client’s

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIALS GOING ON FOR THE HOLIDAYS?
Yes! New clients who book both an autumn and winter doorscape will receive 10% off their seasonal bookings. It’s a great way to enjoy two completely different looks as the season transitions from the warmth of autumn into the holidays.
WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THE AUTUMN AND HOLIDAY SEASONS WHEN IT COMES TO CURATING AN ENTRYWAY? These are the cozy seasons, and there is something especially meaningful about creating a welcoming entrance during this part of the year. Your entryway is the first glimpse guests have of your home, and it can immediately set the tone for what’s waiting inside. Imagine your front door with rich and inviting seasonal details outside, with warm light glowing inside - you can feel it. Our goal is to make the outside of your home as warm as the inside.
14
H OM E U P DAT E | HO M E + D E SIGN
Autumn gives us an opportunity to work with rich textures, natural elements, and warmth, while the holiday season allows us to create something a little more magical and celebratory. We love designing an entryway that makes you happy when you pull into the driveway and makes the people arriving at your home feel welcomed before the door even opens.
WHAT DOES THE PROCESS LOOK LIKE FROM CONSULTATION TO INSTALLATION? When you contact us, we’ll start with a conversation about your goals and ask for a photo of your entryway. You’re also welcome to share inspiration photos so we can get a clear sense of your aesthetic. From there, we’ll schedule an installation date. On install day, we simply ask that the entryway be cleared of any items you don’t want incorporated into the design. Depending on the scope of the project, installation typically takes between
one and four hours. Afterward, we’re always available for questions, touch-ups, or anything else you may need throughout the season.
DO CLIENTS NEED TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT BEFORE CONTACTING YOU? Absolutely not. We’re happy to look at inspiration photos, see your entryway, and talk about what you love and what feels joyful to you—or you can simply let us take the creative lead.
CAN BOZEMAN DOORSCAPES WORK WITH BOTH HOMES AND BUSINESSES? Absolutely. We create custom seasonal installations for both homes and businesses, tailoring each design to the space, brand, and overall feeling our client wants to create. CONTINUED >

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT DESIGNING AN ENTRYWAY? We love that first inspirational visual, because it often becomes the anchor for the entire doorscape. Then there’s the moment when the full vision comes together. Typically, hanging the wreath is one of the last steps, and there’s something so satisfying about seeing that final piece pull the entire look together.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD SOMEONE BOOK FOR AUTUMN OR THE HOLIDAYS? Clients can choose how long they’d like to enjoy their installation. To get the most out of the season, we recommend reaching out in August or September for an earlier autumn installation, and in October or November for a winter or holiday installation. Booking early also gives us the best opportunity to accommodate your preferred timing.

WHY DO YOU THINK THE FRONT ENTRANCE OF A HOME IS SO OFTEN OVERLOOKED? So much of our day-to-day attention naturally goes toward the inside of our homes. We clean, organize, keep up with family life, and then add seasonal touches to our tables, windows, countertops, and gathering spaces. Maintaining that same seasonal feeling outside can become one more task in an already full schedule. We want to take that work off your plate and give you the joy instead. GONG WASH AT LIGHT HOUSE, FOLLOWED BY DINNER AND DRINKS AT PLONK
Tucked into Light House on East Main Street, Gong Wash offers a different kind of date night: one built around sound instead of conversation. Every Wednesday evening, the room fills with the deep resonance of harmonic gongs, handmade in Calcata, Italy, washing over you in waves that settle the nervous system and quiet the mind. Couples lie side by side, eyes closed, letting the vibration do the work. It’s an unexpected way to connect, first in stillness, then in celebration with a glass of wine across the street at Plonk, where no reservations are needed after your Light House experience. Let the candlelight at Plonk lead you to a cozy space, and settle in for a cocktail made with fresh ingredients or a wine from our extensive curated list. Our menu offers a seasonal focus specializing in locally sourced product. Start out with a Chef’s cheese board then explore our eclectic menu ranging from vegan options to fresh oysters to Montana steaks. Plonk has all the charm for an unforgettable date night.
HYALITE RESERVOIR HIKE, FOLLOWED BY A GRAZE CRAZE PICNIC
Wine pairing box from Graze Craze
Celebrate date night with a hike along one of Hyalite Reservoir’s beautiful trails Once you’ve gotten a little exercise, unwind by the water with Graze Craze’s Wine Pairing Picnic Box, which includes sommelier-approved meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts and more. The Wine Pairing Picnic Box is a perfect replenishing and fun snack after a date night hike. Rich in flavor and curated for the perfect pairing with your favorite glass of wine. Whether you love red or white, there is something for everyone in each box! When it comes to a charcuterie board, versatile wines can accompany everything. Our favorite pairing to a date night picnic box is bubbles! Rose is also another great pick due to its acidity, and the low tannins won’t overpower the meats and cheeses in the Wine Pairing Picnic Box. The most important thing to remember for your date night picnic box is to choose the flavors that make you, and your date, happy! Cheers! CONTINUED >

A beautiful night’s rest at Gallatin River Lodge
FLY FISHING AND A STAY AT GALLATIN RIVER LODGE
For couples who would rather trade the traditional dinner date for a little adventure, Gallatin River Lodge pairs a day on Montana’s legendary waters with an evening of thoughtful food, drinks, and relaxed hospitality within easy reach of Bozeman.
THE FISHING EXPERIENCE
Fly fishing is a cornerstone of Gallatin River Lodge. The lodge offers professionally guided fishing experiences for anglers of all abilities, from first-timers learning to cast to experienced anglers looking to explore Southwest Montana’s renowned trout waters. Guests fish on famous nearby rivers including the Gallatin, Madison, and Yellowstone. Each day is tailored to current conditions, the season, and the guests’ interests and experience level. Guides take care of the details so couples can focus on the experience: beautiful scenery, time together on the water, and perhaps a little friendly competition over the best catch of the day. Whether floating a larger river or wade fishing a smaller stretch of water, the goal is to create a day that feels personal, approachable, and distinctly Montana.
A NIGHT AT THE LODGE
After a day on the river, the experience shifts naturally from waders to wine glasses. Couples can return to Gallatin River Lodge for happy hour and dinner, turning a fishing day into a full Montana date day without rushing to the next destination. The lodge’s culinary philosophy is rooted in seasonality, quality ingredients, and a strong sense of place. The kitchen takes a refined but approachable take to dining, allowing excellent ingredients to lead while creating food that feels equally suited to a special occasion or a relaxed evening after a day outdoors. Paired with cocktails, wine, and the lodge’s intimate setting overlooking the surrounding Montana landscape, dinner offers a warm and unhurried finish to the day.

WHAT MAKES THESE EXPERIENCES SPECIAL ISN’T SIMPLY THE SETTING, THE FOOD, OR THE ACTIVITY. IT’S THE OPPORTUNITY TO STEP OUTSIDE THE FAMILIAR AND BE FULLY PRESENT WITH ONE ANOTHER.

When the day has been too good to head home, make it an overnight stay. Fall into the feather beds and let the peace and serenity of Montana’s star-speckled sky cap the most perfect day leaving you feeling rejuvenated and connected to the partner that matters most. In Bozeman, the best date nights are often the ones that feel less like plans and more like stories you’ll tell later. Maybe yours begins with the calming resonance of a gong wash and continues over cocktails and a leisurely dinner. Maybe it starts with hiking beneath Montana’s big skies, followed by a picnic spread enjoyed beside the water. Or perhaps you spend the day casting a line together and settling in for dinner before retreating to a quiet room beneath a star-filled sky. What makes these experiences special isn’t simply the setting, the food, or the activity. It’s the opportunity to step outside the familiar and be fully present with one another. In a place like Bozeman, connection can happen just as easily on a trail or riverbank as it can across a candlelit table. So, the next time date night rolls around, skip the predictable reservation and make a little room for adventure. Whether you’re looking for relaxation, time outdoors, great food, or a combination of all three, Bozeman offers plenty of ways to reconnect. After all, the best dates aren’t necessarily about where you go; they’re about how you feel when you’re there, and who you get to experience it with.

Big Sky Eats: Following the Appetite MILA AZCONA'S JOURNEYS FROM SOUTH KOREA TO MONTANA, BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS AND WITNESSING CULINARY SCENES TRANSFORM. I landed in Montana with a one way ticket to South Korea. I had met my ex in South Korea, and after a few stops in between, we eventually ended up in Montana without knowing a single person. We initially lived in Livingston, where I eventually decided to go my own way. After the breakup, I moved to Bozeman and decided to give it a shot. It has now been a little over four years since I made that move, and what started as an unexpected chapter has become home. My first Big Sky Eats post went live in September 2022. At the time, I was also working a full time corporate job. Big Sky Eats started as a passion project, but I quickly realized I was putting far more time, energy and creativity into it than I was into the job paying the bills. I had found something I genuinely cared about. Food has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up in a Latin household where cooking was one of the ways my family showed love. Growing up in New York and traveling extensively gave me an appreciation for food as a way to experience culture, people and place. I have always been curious about what happens beyond the plate: who created the dish, why they opened the restaurant and what makes an experience memorable. There wasn’t really a blueprint for building a food and lifestyle platform around Bozeman and Big Sky, so I started showing up. I went to wine dinners, attended events, introduced myself to chefs, restaurant owners and marketing teams, asked questions and followed up. A big part of building Big Sky Eats has been having the courage to ask the right questions and the curiosity to keep going. One of the most exciting parts of what I do is watching the entire state of Montana become increasingly sophisticated as a culinary destination. There is incredible talent and dedication coming from chefs across the state. We have

chefs receiving major recognition, earning nominations and winning awards, along with many others who I believe absolutely deserve that same recognition. From Bozeman and Big Sky to Livingston, Whitefish, Missoula and communities throughout the state, restaurants, hotels, ranches and hospitality groups are raising the bar. One of my favorite things to see is how many restaurants source locally whenever they can. That connection to Montana ranches, farms and producers is part of what makes dining here special. Montana does not need to become New York, Los Angeles or Paris to have an incredible culinary scene. The best experiences still feel distinctly Montana, and that balance between sophistication and authenticity is what makes this moment so exciting. Creating in Montana is also different from creating in a major city. Here, relationships matter. You see the same people at events, build genuine connections and become part of the community you are documenting. My involvement with Restaurant Week in both Livingston and Bozeman has been especially meaningful because I have been able to use the Big Sky Eats platform to create awareness for local restaurants and encourage people to experience their own communities. And what people see on Instagram is only a fraction of the work. Behind a thirty second Reel can be hours of pitching, negotiating, contracts, creative strategy, filming, editing, studying the algorithm and building systems. I am often experiencing a dinner, hotel, food festival or ranch stay while simultaneously thinking about the story I want to tell. Big Sky Eats has grown from a food focused Instagram account into a creative business, working with brands across the nation, travel and lifestyle. I also love incorporating a sense of fashion into my content, bringing food, travel and personal style together. My favorite things to feature are still curated dinners, food festivals, ranch stays, new hotels and restaurants. I love discovering something special and bringing my audience along for the experience.

“If there is one thing this journey has taught me, it is to follow your passion and focus on what sets your soul on fire. You are the only person who knows what that is. Trust yourself and go after it.”
Looking ahead, I’m building a creators network for people who love being part of the scene and experiencing what Montana has to offer. There is so much happening across the state, from incredible restaurants and food festivals to events and experiences that deserve to be seen. I feel a responsibility to help get the word out from a local perspective because the more we support these events, the more opportunities we create to keep bringing great experiences to Montana. When I think about arriving in Montana with a one way ticket to South Korea, I could never have imagined where it would lead. Big Sky Eats has given me a career I never planned on, a community I never expected and the opportunity to help tell the story of a state that is changing in exciting ways. I am incredibly grateful to my followers, restaurant owners, chefs, managers, marketing teams, the hospitality community, my friends who supported me from day one, my team, the leaders who trust me and the entrepreneurs who have opened doors along the way. I started by sharing the places I loved. Now I get to help shape how people experience Montana. I am excited to keep following the appetite and see where it takes us next. Follow along with Big Sky Eats on Instagram, @bigsky_eats, for new restaurants, curated dinners, food festivals, hotels, ranch experiences, Montana adventures and everything delicious in between.

It’s Pumpkin Bread Season
The Perfect Recipe For Some Autumn Comfort
Ingredients: • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1 teaspoon nutmeg • 1/2 teaspoon ginger • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin • 1 1/2 cups sugar • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or canola oil • 1/2 cup melted butter • 2 eggs Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 2. In a mixing bowl, add the flour, baking soda and baking powder, spices, and salt. Set aside. 3. Combine the oil, butter, and vanilla in a liquid measuring cup. 4. In a mixing bowl (with a paddle attachment), beat the pumpkin, sugar, and eggs until combined. 5. Turn the mixer to low and slowly add the liquid ingredients. Let this process take about 1 to 2 minutes so the mixture becomes light and fluffy. 6. Using a spatula, fold the dry ingredients into the wet and slowly fold until the ingredients are blended. 7. Prepare a 10 x 5 loaf pan by buttering it really well and then adding a strip of parchment paper to the bottom and up the sides for easy removal. 8. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 1 hour. The bread will be fully risen in the center, like a loaf. Make sure it’s fully cooked and brown on the top otherwise it will fall in the middle once removed from the oven.
