But diners be warned: There’s no menu, just a course catalog. After three years of planning, one year of construction and a $20 million investment from Prince George’s County, the Culinary Arts Center at Prince George’s Community College is open. Once you’ve bowled a 300 or screamed “Yahtzee!” from the rooftops, help your guests cool off—both from the heat and some intense competition. Lemonade, the resident summer drink cooler, is even better in frozen form. Try this tart, creamy concoction combined with Jell-O—the food that makes anything a little bit more fun—and hit it out of the park with these after-party treats. PRO TIP: Punch the popsicle stick through a cupcake liner to catch those messy drips!
FROZEN LEMONADE ICE POPS WITH JELL-O WHAT YOU NEED Popsicle molds Popsicle sticks Jell-O (we recommend berry blue and watermelon) 4 cups cold water 1 cup Country Time lemonade drink mix 1 tub (12 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed 1 tablespoon lemon zest
WHAT YOU DO 1. Prepare the Jell-O as directed on the box. Pour into dishes so about 1 inch thick and refrigerate until set. 2. Blend water, lemonade mix, Cool Whip and lemon zest until smooth. 3. When Jell-O is set, remove from dishes and slice into small cubes (they’ll need to fit in the popsicle molds). 4. Fill the popsicle molds about halfway with Jell-O cubes, then fill the remaining space with the blended lemonade mixture. 5. Add popsicle sticks if needed and freeze overnight.

FOR CLOSE TO 40 YEARS, THE COZY RESIDENCE ON THE CORNER OF ENTERPRISE ROAD (HIGHWAY 193) AND KINGS ARROW STREET HAS DOUBLED AS A DENTAL OFFICE. The carved wooden sign and lush landscaping provide great curb appeal. While inside, patients can observe the bird sanctuary through the well-lit operatory windows. The comforting environment was built from the ground up by Dr. Christopher Doerrer and his wife. Generations of Prince George’s County residents are still served in this office. The well-trained staff take pride in their customer service and strive for excellence in every patient experience. As of February, Doerrer decided to put his operating gloves away and enjoy being a grandparent. It took almost two years, but he found an appropriate successor, Dr. Kevin Granger, a Meharry Medical College graduate with more than 15 years of tclinical experience who has dedicated his career to comprehensive care. While matriculating in vigorous postgraduate training programs, Granger learned a broad spectrum of specialty procedures. Using the skills from residency programs and continuing education, he practices whole patient care. For almost a decade, Granger has served the Tyson’s Corner/McLean, Virginia, area. The practice’s focus was sedation and full rehabilitation of some of the most difficult cases. Living in Prince George’s County and having a young family made him evaluate the lack of balance between work and family. After meeting Doerrer, they both felt it would be a good fit for Granger to grab the helm of this wonderful dental practice and serve his local community. Granger is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, where a kind dentist from Maryland set up a practice. This doctor mentored Granger and inspired a dream fulfilled through hard work and a village of support. The undergraduate experience at Xavier University of Louisiana prepared Granger well for the challenges of dental school and beyond. Meharry Medical College instilled a sense of community with patient care. Now, it is only right that the professional journey comes full circle, allowing Granger to use the skills that are in practice daily to help his community live healthier lives.
