A struggle for small business is not having enough resources to launch properly or develop the business for growth. P

ART OF THE BEAUTY OF LIVING IN THE TREASURE VALLEY IS ITS PROXIMITY TO SO MANY COOL PLACES. Within a couple of hours, you can be deep in the Owyhee Desert canyons or lakeside in the Sawtooth Mountains. While we tend to dial back the road tripping because the mountains are buried in snow and the

desert can be tough to access, the Hagerman area is a fairly short drive, and it also has a climate with warm, sunny days during the winter. But what’s really cool about the area is the variety of things to do there, from feeding trout at the Hagerman Hatchery to eating alligator at the Snake River Grill. You can watch waterfalls gushing from the cliffs above the Snake River or take a dip in the geothermal hot springs along its shore, take a dinner cruise on the River Mist, a 52-foot, heated catamaran cruiser or cast to trout on the Malad River or Billingsley Creek. You can watch thousands of ducks and geese at the Hagerman Wildlife Management Area or see prehistoric fossils at the Hagerman National Fossil Beds. And you can stay at a local motel, rent a cabin at a nearby state park or take your RV to a campground. The Hagerman area is a patchwork of agricultural land and rocky scrub with some amazing pockets of scenery tucked among them.

Scrape the roasted flesh from the skin, and simmer it with sautéed yellow onion, fresh sage, and a tart Granny Smith apple. When everything’s soft and the flavors have melded, purée it all in the blender. Finally, enrich the soup with a bit of heavy cream.

1. Heat the oven to 425°F and arrange a rack in the middle. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place the squash pieces cut-side up on the baking sheet. Melt 1 tablespoon of the butter and brush all of it over the tops and insides of the squash halves (alternatively, you can rub it on evenly with your fingers). Season generously with salt and pepper. Roast until knife tender, 50 minutes to 1 hour. 2. Meanwhile, peel, core, and cut the apple into medium dice. Cut the onion into medium dice. Melt the remaining tablespoon of butter in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the apple, onion, and sage, season with salt and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened,

The result is a menu that is as surprising as it is familiar. Seventy-five percent of Fork’s beer, spirits and wine come from the great Northwest region, and they’ve painstakingly restored and updated one of Boise’s oldest downtown landmarks into a comfortable, relaxed dining room. Local artisans used reclaimed or recycled materials to craft elements like tables and glasses. In 2016, Fork was awarded Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence (for the sixth year in a row), voted Boise’s Best Local Dinner and Best Local Salad, and won Open Table’s Diner’s Choice. She worked in a land of giant buildings, big boxes and bizarre shipments of thousands of identical items, destined for mass minion appeal. Where the days were not 24 hours long, but more like 124 hours long. She took off to seek a new land. What she found was amazing! Exotic

Even though the name means cocktail, the commitment to guest satisfaction doesn’t stop at the bar. The Bardenay menu features casual Northweststyle cuisine with an emphasis on excellence. Nearly everything at Bardenay is handmade from scratch using only the highest quality of ingredients.

Worthy Reads ARTICLE RACHEL BENNETT

THE ROSIE PROJECT BY GRAEME SIMSION DURING ONE OF MY MANY NONSTRESS TEST SESSIONS WITH MY LAST PREGNANCY, I FELL INTO A DISCUSSION WITH ONE OF THE NURSES ABOUT GOOD BOOKS WE HAD READ RECENTLY. She suggested a few, and The Rosie Project is one she highly recommended. So I gave it a shot, and I am so glad I did. Don Tillman is one of the brightest professors of genetics in the world, and certainly in Australia, which he calls home. He’s also on the spectrum and has a hard time living life outside of his whiteboard schedule and picking up on emotional queues. He’s very literal and matter-of-fact, which is what makes this book so fun and endearing. Don knows that it only makes sense, scientifically and practically, to find a spouse in life, but he wants to make sure that, whoever his mate ends up being, they’re perfectly matched to what he believes would be the perfect woman. So, he creates a questionnaire that he submits to women via online dating sites, speed-dating events and social gatherings. Some items on the questionnaire deal with smoking, drinking and the ability to be on time. He dubs it "The Wife Project." During Don’s process of weeding out viable candidates, his friend sends over a wild-card candidate as a joke, Rosie. But Rosie has a project of her own, "The Father Project." When Don agrees to help her find her mystery father via DNA testing, he starts to discover that “WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE?" "A SKINNY DECAF LATTE."

maybe the rigid criteria of "The Wife Project" won’t find the best partner for him after all. I wholeheartedly loved this book. It is warming, sincere, funny and sweet. If you can find it as an audio-

my highest recommendations of a Worthy Read so far. There is a sequel, The Rosie Effect, and you’d better believe I’m already on the waiting list through my local library for it. Sony even purchased the rights to make a movie of it, scheduled for release in 2019 with Ryan Reynolds rumored to be playing Don Tillman.

8 Tips to Better Health for Entrepreneurs

12 34 5

ARTICLE SHONTÉ PRESS 1. EAT HEALTHY & REGULARLY: Time management is extremely

important to any successful entrepreneur, so you have to pre-plan if you want to eat healthy and regularly. Prep meals for the week on Sunday, make green smoothies for breakfast on the go, ALWAYS pack healthy snacks and don’t forget your daily vitamin! 2. GET YOUR SLEEP: Sleep is vitally important to your overall

health. During sleep, your body is healing and rejuvenating. Without 6-8 hours of sleep, your brain and body will not function as well. Have a productive day, shut out the noise at night and go to sleep on time! 3. SCHEDULE EXERCISE TIME: Your body needs exercise more than

you know. The best way to make this happen is to schedule at least 30 minutes of exercise 3-4 mornings a week. It’s a great way to start your day and you won’t have to stress about doing it later. So get up and move! 4. ELIMINATE BAD FOODS: You know that sweets and processed

or fried foods are bad for you, but have you drastically reduced them from your diet? Do your body a favor and replace these foods with healthier alternatives today! 5. DRINK YOUR WATER: Did you know that your body is almost

70% water? If you don’t replenish your water reserves, your body will begin to take water from your bones and organs, which can lead to health problems later in life. So drink up! 6. GO TO ANNUAL CHECK-UPS: This may seem like a no brainer,

but when was your last physical? Getting a yearly exam can pay off exponentially. You’ll know what’s going on with your body, and early detection of any medical issue could save your life! 7. SCHEDULE ME TIME: If you don’t, who will? Make sure to always

factor in me time. Whether a few minutes of meditation, a spa day or vacation, get your me time in! 8. ALWAYS BE INTENTIONAL: The most important thing to remember

is to BE INTENTIONAL! If you don’t make a plan, you’re planning to fail. You schedule your business day, so why not schedule your meals, water breaks and sleep time? Doing so will help you live to adult another day!
