Lemonade, the resident summer drink cooler, is even better in frozen form. Try this tart, creamy concoction combined with Jell-O—the food that makes anything a little bit more fun—and hit it out of the park with these after-party treats.

PRO TIP: Punch the popsicle stick through a cupcake liner to catch those messy drips!

FROZEN LEMONADE ICE POPS WITH JELL-O WHAT YOU NEED Popsicle molds Popsicle sticks Jell-O (we recommend berry blue and watermelon) 4 cups cold water 1 cup Country Time lemonade drink mix 1 tub (12 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed 1 tablespoon lemon zest WHAT YOU DO 1. Prepare the Jell-O as directed on the box. Pour into dishes so about 1 inch thick and refrigerate until set. 2. Blend water, lemonade mix, Cool Whip and lemon zest until smooth. 3. When Jell-O is set, remove from dishes and slice into small cubes (they’ll need to fit in the popsicle molds). 4. Fill the popsicle molds about halfway with Jell-O cubes, then fill the remaining space with the blended lemonade mixture. 5. Add popsicle sticks if needed and freeze overnight.

If Montanans were asked to select an official state pastime, fly fishing would undoubtedly be one of the top contenders. Fishermen travel from near and far to cast their luck on one of the state’s countless waterways, including the Stillwater River. For those anglers who seek a more thrilling destination, a hike to Mystic Lake can reap significant rewards. Resting at 7,638 feet in the Beartooth Range, Mystic Lake is a 3-mile hike from the Emerald Lake Campground outside of Fishtail. Breathtaking views surround the shores of this trout fisherman’s haven. Deep and cold waters host brook trout, rainbow trout and cutthroat trout. Though the hike can be challenging — especially during inclement weather — adventurers and nature lovers alike will bask in the grandeur of the AbsarokaBeartooth Wilderness.

Purple Rain TRAILHEAD SPIRITS’ COOL SUMMER BEVERAGE FOR A HOT DAY ENJOY A DELICIOUSLY REFRESHING PURPLE RAIN FROM TRAILHEAD SPIRITS ON ITS BEAUTIFUL PATIO, LOCATED IN THE HISTORIC DEPOT COMPLEX.
INGREDIENTS ++ 1 part Trailhead Spirits Great North Vodka ++ 1 part mint simple syrup ++ Freshly squeezed lemon juice, plus zest ++ Plum bitters ++ Muddled blackberries* ++ Club soda ++ Lemon-lime soda, like 7 Up ++ Fresh mint
DIRECTIONS Start with a tall glass. Place 3 blackberries on bottom along with 2 mint leaves. Add 1 ounce mint simple syrup and 1 1/2 ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add 3 drops plum bitters and muddle ingredients together. Pour 1 ounce Great North Vodka into mixture, then add ice. Top with soda and 7UP. Garnish with mint and lemon zest. *Muddling is a bartender’s technique for releasing flavor from solid cocktail ingredients, such as fruit or herbs. With mint, make sure you muddle lightly so the plant doesn’t become too bruised or bitter.
SMACKING THE GARNISH? You may catch a bartender slapping mint in their hands before adding it to a drink. This is their way of quickly expressing the oils on the underside of the leaf, which add aroma to the finished beverage.

Man’s best friend deserves a great agent too. “After a bad auto accident involving clients of the agency, they made the Highway Patrolman promise NOT to put their beloved dog BeBe in a shelter as they were both being transported to the hospital for care. The Patrolman held the dog for a couple hours but then had to press the owners for a decision on what to do with their dog.
