John Carreau of The Wood Thrush Shop reports that all four nesting boxes for Eastern Bluebirds placed in the Belle Meade Boulevard median produced won derful results. At last count, close to 40 juvenile bluebirds left the boxes. John states the success rate is impressive and that this is an excellent case in point that the Eastern Bluebird is very adaptive, perhaps moreso than what current literature indicates that they “require."

Some fashions never go out of style, such as ideally tailored suits, dis tinctive apparel accessories or elegant formalwear, reminds Charles Bass, Fior Bespoke owner and master clothier. "Our goal with luxury bespoke clothing is to create perfect fits, every time," he adds.

"People crave interaction and are back to wanting to look good. I think there's been so much pent-up social demand, that every one wants to look 'smart' and to push boundaries, and we enjoy how that allows us to be creative and to help our clients establish their own signature styles," surmises Charles.

meeting someone for coffee. We're producing these sets in merino and silk/cashmere, too. They're comfortable and they anchor a chic lifestyle look," Charles says.

Charles says many people are feeling ready to get out and explore, and fun-themed clothing is a strong part of that desire.

However, he reveals fewer gentlemen are wearing ties this year. "Instead, they're sporting brightly colored pocket squares. This fall, we're producing wool and cashmere pocket squares."

He adds many men are moving away from skinny jeans and opt ing for relaxed, comfortable denim jeans in a variety of colors.

"What's reso nating with many is safari jackets, which are both casual and func tional while looking great with slacks or jeans. Popular colors so far for those jackets include khaki, navy and olive green," he explains.

Customer satisfaction is the hallmark of Fior Bespoke, and Charles predicts this year's autumn clothing trends and colors will deliver a pleasant fashion punch that most people are seeking.

Charles Bass, of Fior Bespoke, consults about fabric choices with Dr. Bill Hardgrave, president, University of Memphis.

With black tie season fast approaching, Charles says people are requesting clothing that really fits them, ones that complement their unique body and style. In this category, he says personal ized velvet dinner jackets in a myriad of colors, rather than tux edos, are favored. But for overall and sometimes quick needs, he reminds us that the Fior Bespoke team also delivers top-quality, speedy tailoring services.

“I’ve always been into fashion, so this has always been a goal for me and my brother, but we knew it would take time to build," explains Kristian. "I wanted to start early and get our brand in motion, while also supporting other artists and designers looking to do the same. I also knew it would be a good way to get connected with my Nashville com munity during my rookie year.”

Brand

The Trenches actually is considered a boutique and maker space at which a mid- to high-end retailer focus showcases black owned or designed sneakers, clothing and home goods for men, women and youths. The Trenches' unique combination of streetwear, shoes and fashion line, combined with an innovative artistic space, invites aspiring design ers and craftspersons from the Nashville commu nity to showcase their work.

During 2021, Kristian, 23, and his older brother Keith, 26, opened an urban wear boutique in Nashville called The Trenches, located at 906 Buchanan St. This shop encompasses art, culture, community and apparel.

"For football season, we’ll make sure we have special items for the fans and those who support us around the city. We like to switch it up though, so you’ll see plenty of surprises throughout the fall," Kristian promises.

While at Louisiana State University, Keith Fulton developed a love for art, which would eventually grow into an idea for the layout of the Trenches boutique.

Offerings span track jackets, hoodies, reflect jackets, T-shirts, sweatpants, shorts and track pants. Accessories include caps, beanies, socks and pins.

Kristian says he and Keith have received great feed back since they opened. "The store vibe is meant to be family-oriented so everyone feels welcome. Everybody is not going to have the same style, so we want people to come in and feel like they can create," he adds. "It’s amazing to see the way the store has taken off. We have people from all over the country visiting Nashville, and they come by to see us. It’s a great feeling.”

Now Keith’s interest is on display, by way of the featured artists whose works rotate on a monthly basis inside the boutique.

WHAT TYPE OF ACCESSORIES DO YOU MOST ENJOY WEARING?

Clean and polished jeans paired with a blouse and a jacket. In my opin ion, jeans or a casual dress qualify as acceptable business casual attire.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE FALL COLOR TO WEAR? Dark teal or dark plum

Simple and meaningful accessories. Most days I’m wearing a gold necklace engraved with the names of my three boys, and a 10-year wedding anniver sary ring with five stones symbolizing my incredible family of five. Both pieces of jewelry serve as constant reminders of what is most meaningful.

CURRENT FASHION, POST-PAN DEMIC, IS MORE ABOUT FUN EXPRESSION. DO YOU SEE OFFICE ATTIRE REFLECTING THAT TREND, AND IN WHAT WAY? Yes – Being in the world of sports, shoes are always a fun way to express your style. A cute pair of tennis shoes previously would be reserved for jeans or joggers, but now tennis shoes can pair nicely with a business profes sional suit, dress or skirt.

WHAT’S YOUR BEST OVERALL FASHION ADVICE?  Be comfortable. You can always add layers to make an outfit look more structured and polished, without sacrificing comfort. Having three lit tle kids and limited time to get ready in the mornings, my go-to outfit is a casual dress for comfort, paired with a professional blazer or jacket for a more polished look.

HOW IMPORTANT ARE ACCESSORIES, SUCH AS BELTS AND THE ‘JUST-RIGHT’ SOCKS OR SHOES?

ARE WATCHES IN OR OUT OF STYLE? DO YOU CON SIDER WATCHES AS JEWELRY, OR IN A CATEGORY OF THEIR OWN? Definitely in, always.  And “smart” watches most certainly do not count.  I have two watches, one of which was given to me by my father, that I have worn every day for nearly 40 years. Family heirlooms are always in style.

Donald Page 24

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE FALL COLOR TO WEAR?

I like mixing bling. Being in the creative space, I never really care if something is a “faux paus.” I like to break convention, and keep people guessing. That’s kind of my style, and it’s also something I hope to reflect in the Titans brand.

The impact of footwear is huge. I see shoes as the ultimate accessory to a fit. You can take a relatively safe look and take it over the top with the right kicks. I love pulling inspiration from the variety of shoes you see our team rock.

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT THESE DAYS FOR MEN TO FIND AND WEAR PERFECTLY FITTING JEANS?

Jeans are very important for a wardrobe and the fit is essential. I wear them literally everyday. My role has many twists and turns throughout the day – one minute I’m in an executive meeting in one of our boardrooms and the next I’m on location at a pho toshoot with our players. Jeans carry me through everyday no matter what it holds.

WHAT PROJECT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF SO FAR AT THE TITANS? I love to leave a little mystery, so I can tell you we have something extremely special and surprising coming for fans in 2023. But that’s all I can say for now.

Custom and tailored looks definitely have their place, but I love pushing the envelope. Incorporating your own personal style can take a tailored look and offer a unique twist that really helps you stand out. For example, I always add a black-on-black ball cap to the mix. It’s my own personal touch, and most people don’t even know I have hair.

My role centers on entertaining our fans and growing the Titans brand. I served a similar role at the Miami Dolphins. Prior to joining the NFL, I man aged brands for Adidas North America and worked in several capacities in the advertising industry.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE FALL COLOR TO WEAR? Always black and charcoal year-round. I also throw a good bit of Titans blue in there.

HOW DO YOU BELIEVE ONE’S STYLE AFFECTS ONE’S PERSONAL REPUTATION? Standing at 6’6” – I’m a relatively big guy, so it’s pretty hard to be incognito anywhere. Given that, I know a lot of eyes will come my way when I walk into the room. You only have one chance to make a first impression, so I like to use style to help influence the vibe people get from me. I like for my fashion choices to communicate that I am serious, well put-together and thoughtful – but that I also have fun, style and flair in my game. The suit I wore for this magazine shoot accompa nying this article, for example, is classically cut but has a nontraditional color and fabric.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR ROLE AT THE TITANS

I often say my job is to help the team “Win Heart and Win Minds in order to ultimately Win Wallets.” First and foremost, this means finding compelling ways to engage our fans to bring them closer to the team and our brand. In doing so the hope is to  be top of mind for fans across the entire state. We want to give them as many reasons to love the Titans as possible.

Tennessee Titans, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer

Watches are very much in style. With so many folks shifting to electronic watches and such, it makes it all the more striking when someone wears a more traditional, classic timepiece.

Find the perfect fit. Custom fit is especially important for someone this tall, but it’s really an important style tip for every one. I’d recommend investing in at least one fine custom suit with two or three made-to-measure shirts. We all have unique proportions, and even folks who consider themselves “average” have unique fit quirks. I’d encourage everyone to shop with a legit clothier and avoid big box retail chains. Having a good stylist walk you through the process and give you good ideas is another nice aspect of having clothes made for you. While most of us don’t have a body as chiseled as Derrick Henry (speaking for myself first), most men look better with form fitting clothes over a baggy, less structured look, another reason to go custom. Even if you are a little soft in the middle, or have some ‘junk in the trunk,’ a well-tailored button down shirt with nice-fitting pants will always look polished and flattering.

27| CITYLIFESTYLE.COM/BELLEMEADESEPTEMBER 2022

ARE WATCHES IN OR OUT OF STYLE? DO YOU CONSIDER WATCHES AS JEWELRY, OR IN A CATEGORY OF THEIR OWN?

It’s buttoned-up and even a tad corporate, but also really strik ing and fun. This approach sums up how I use fashion and style to establish my personal brand and reputation.

A lot of men and women in corporate jobs have fewer oppor tunities to express themselves through fashion. Most men trend toward what I call “The Uniform,” which is a pair of slacks/jeans, a button down shirt, a jacket and a pair “sensible” shoes. Given how this approach can be kind of dull, accessories can really help you stand out. Sometimes wearing a bright colored or patterned sock can completely change the vibe of an otherwise boring out fit. For shoes, I like tapping into classic styles in non-traditional colors. For example, I love a pair of bright red Allen Edmonds oxford wingtips. Again, the shoe itself is a classic design but the color grabs attention!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR MEN WHO WISH TO LOOK CLASSY AND NEAT, YET CASUAL AND COMFORTABLE?

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE FALL COLOR TO WEAR? I try to rep the Tennessee Titans as much as possible, so nat urally I wear a lot of ‘Two-Tone Blue’ no matter the time of the year, but especially during football season. Titan Up!

Patients' soothing experiences at Hall Orthodontics begin as soon as they walk through the doors. Met by a modern style office and a caring professional staff, they're enveloped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every detail is done by design to encompass patient comfort with beautiful results in mind.

“Creating an inviting ambiance with a clean, bright feel that's also sleek and professional was my primary goal as I started this journey,” says owner Dr. Miriam Hall.  Her favorite detail in the office is the pop of pink color with a 'Live your best smile' neon sign com plemented by a beautiful Ed Nash painting in the reception area, designed and dedicated to honor her mother’s battle with breast cancer.  “It's the smile that meets people, the first thing that others notice, one of the most endearing features expressed with a grin or a laugh and I get the honor of providing my patients with the most beautiful esthetic version of that aspect of their face,” she says.

Patients often inquire about the interior designer that created the Hall Orthodontics office space only to be surprised to learn that the doctor herself crafted the vision. “I designed every aspect of the office from the layout to all of the finishes, it was a lot of fun and a great experience,” says Dr. Hall. “I didn't realize how much patients would equate the design and detail put into the office with confidence in me and their own care, building an early sense of trust.”

Dr. Hall says she's always been intrigued by the con cept of design as an art, making sure all of the pieces fit well together. She created a happy and pleasing place not only for her patients, but for herself and her staff as well. She was able to align her personal

The antiquated but familiar doctor’s office waiting rooms have been transformed at Hall Orthodontics with features of com fort for the patients and their families no matter their age. “We have an iPad station for kids where they can wait to be seen or pass the time while their siblings are being treated,” she says. “There are all kinds of games and we always ask kids for recom mendations on games and apps to upload. There’s also a beverage station with coffee, tea, water and other refreshments, plus snacks for kids.”

While being examined by Dr. Hall, patients can relax on memory foam leather chairs available at every station providing the relaxing and comforting experience that follows the patient throughout their visit. Patients also have access to hightech digital impression scanning, which is much more pleasant than the old-fash ioned molds. This technology is more effi cient, creates appliances that fit better to create that perfect smile, bringing the vision to life.   Trust and confidence in the process is paramount, therefore diligent efforts are made to enhance the patient’s understand ing of every aspect of the procedure and plan. “I think a lot of patients have a fear of the unknown with worries entrenched in not knowing what to expect,” she says. “Every step of every procedure is explained in detail to the patient.”

“Above all, we always want to treat people the way we would want to be treated, and I think taking the time to do this means a great deal. Obviously, the whole goal is to obtain beautiful results and beautiful smiles, but also for patients to have a great overall experience.”

Brad Rempel, frontman for award-winning Canadian country band High Valley, is passionate about his unusual upbringing.  “My parents were born in Mexico, and they're Mennonites. Mexican Mennonites. You can Google it," he says.

After Brad’s parents bought a truck and were asked to leave the colony, the family settled in La Crete, Alberta, Canada, where they made another purchase:  a record player. He says they only had a few records, but one clear favorite. “My family loved Ricky Skaggs more than you can imagine. If the most famous band in the world had shown up on our driveway, we would’ve had no clue. If Ricky Skaggs had been there, we would’ve lost our minds.”

Through ingenuity and grit, Brad met Ricky in 2007 after discovering the legend would be in Canada for a gospel awards event. Brad says he contacted the organizers, offering to pay the

Brad and his wife, Rebekah, spent most of their time growing up gathering with family and friends. After moving to Nashville, they discovered people “made calendar appointments to spend time with each other.” Finding the perfect piece of land in Spring Hill made it possible to offer their childhood experiences to their children. They say what started as a shed on the property to store dirt bikes became The Cottage at the “TheRidge. goalwas to return to our roots and create a get away,” Rebekah says. “We knew it wouldn’t be our lifestyle.”

event fee if he could take Ricky to dinner. “So they tell me he doesn't have time for dinner, but he does need a ride to the airport. I drove 700 miles from Nashville to Calgary, Alberta, and gave him a ride to the airport. I played him our CD. He didn't like it.”

In May, High Valley released their sixth studio album, "Way Back," and Brad is looking forward to the music made in The Cottage in the future. “We’ve been writing a ton out there. It’s inspirational and a blessing to share it with others,” he assures.

Rebekah says guests don’t have to visit from out of town only. “You could live in the Gulch, and the idea of going somewhere and taking a walk and catching fish and having smores is culture shock.”

When High Valley played the Opry a few years later, Ricky introduced them. “The moral of the story is if you grow up Mennonite and only have one record to listen to, make sure it’s Ricky Skaggs.”

Brad and Rebekah worked on the building and design through the pandemic, planning to use the space for family time and songwriting. “Once we fin ished, we discovered we wanted to share it with other people, too.”  The Cottage has been a photoshoot location, a songwriting retreat, a refuge for traveling songwrit ers and a wedding venue. It’s now available to rent on Airbnb. They share, “It’s amazing when we read the guestbook and people write things like, ‘my son caught his first fish here; great for us to get away and have campfires and s'mores; a total reset.’ Growing up, that was normal for us.”

TheSaintElle.com.  Saint Elle, located in a former industrial building built in the 1950s, is a private event venue that combines historical charm with modern luxury. Its name was actually inspired by the N, C & St. L Railway that trav elled luxury passenger trains through Nashville from Chicago to Atlanta in the 1950s.

The venue also hosts events such as “Dive into Wine,” a tasting series that changes seasonally and fosters learning about different regions and varietals of wine. It also hosts “Artist Spotlight,” bringing art shows, modern dance and theater to the space.

There’s even an event office where a party planner and his or her staff can set up and get organized in a private, quiet space. Other amenities include a large professional catering kitchen and parking.

The Green Room is a private suite with a “man-cave” vibe. It can be used on the “BIG DAY” as a grooms’ room, a sweet spot where hosts and VIPs can gather for the pre-party, or as an effortless backdrop forThephotoshoots.Suiteisan additional private area at Saint Elle, creating a serene setting to primp before the event. This area is perfect for the guest of honor, celebrity, or keynote speaker to have a personal space just steps away from the action.

Saint Elle has an open vendor policy so clients can choose their own caterers, rentals and other event professionals, but they do provide the bar service. “That's something we felt really passion ately about,” says Leigh. “Our beverage director is a master mixologist and a sommelier. He works with each of our clients to create cocktails and bar offerings that are infused with the personality of the event and host.”

The building’s original bow truss was kept in place and in the renovation they exposed the iconic arched roof line. “We wanted to highlight the historic space, adding features and modern amenities that celebrate this unique style of architecture,” Leigh says.

“Saint Elle is an inclusive female-owned business that welcomes and supports all different types of events from weddings and corporate events to photo shoots, art shows and birthday parties.”

“After eight years of owning and operating the Cordelle, our first venue, we gained a lot of experi ence and knowledge about the industry,” says Leigh Watson, one of the co-owners. “It helped us to create a venue specific to what clients and planners are look ing for in a space.”

The event space encompasses 8,000 square feet all on one level and can comfortably host 650 guests. What makes it really accommodating is the ability to divide the space into smaller areas. The Bow Truss area is by far the largest at 6,000 square feet, with another adjoining 1,000 square feet patio accessi ble through a roll-up glass door. The Conservatory, located right alongside the Bow Truss, adds an addi tional 1,870 square feet that can be used with the Bow Truss or separately. Floor-to-ceiling windows make it light and bright, and combined with a view of the treetops and interior foliage, makes that ambience quiteWhilenature-like.thereare many things that make Saint Elle stand out from other venues, its thoughtful design

Definitely, the most interesting accommodations in Dollywood’s history, guests at Suite 1986 also will receive some extra special amenities, including dedicated concierge service, one-of-a-kind culinary offerings, and customized souvenirs to take home.

The tour bus only sleeps two guests, but each reser vation also includes a room at DreamMore Resort, which can accommodate up to four additional guests.

Dolly apparently was never a big fan of air travel. She preferred to have her own space, food and belongings, so her tour bus was a customized rolling sanctuary that ensured she always traveled in com fort and could do her two favorite things — writing and cooking — from absolutely anywhere. She loved creating meals in the kitchenette and sharing them with her best friend and personal assistant, Judy Ogle, and driver Tim Dunlap.

In addition to providing a unique glimpse into her life, the bus allows guests beautiful views of the Smoky Mountains, where Dolly grew up. It also offers easy access to Dollywood, her theme park established in 1986 (hence, the bus’s new name) to provide more employment for residents and a spark of joy for the millions of visitors drawn to the region.

There’s a two-night minimum stay for Suite 1986 and a starting rate of $10,000, but a portion of pro ceeds reportedly are donated to The Dollywood Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dolly’s enter prises. In part, it funds Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which gifts free books to children from birth to age 5 as part of an ongoing effort to instill in every one a passion for reading. So far, more than 2 million children have benefited from the program. Dolly her self loves to read, and she’s a writer at heart. In fact, she wrote her “Backwoods Barbie” album as well as “9 to 5 the Musical” in the bus.

For those tired of working 9 to 5 and looking to treat themselves to a true one-of-a-kind Tennessee escape, there’s a new ultra-premium lodging oppor tunity at Dollywood:  the new “Suite 1986” Tour Bus Experience. The Prevost tour bus was Dolly Parton’s preferred home away from home for 15 years and recently was acquired by Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa to transform into the property’s ultimate experience, parked in a permanent space behind the hotel.
