All Star Jumpers Party Rental, a locally owned and family-operated small business, provides entertainment supplies for private parties and for larger events at churches, schools, and community centers in the CSRA. Over the last seven years, owners Joshua and Heidi Valderrama have enjoyed interacting with the community and experiencing the joy their business brings to others. “Kids love it when I show up,” shares Joshua. “Their smiles expand, and they're even so happy that I brought the bounce houses that sometimes at the end of the day, they're helping me roll them up and put them away! I also really love being a part of seeing families in the community make memories and getting to share their precious moments. When Help Can’t Wait Augusta, Georgia “We are the only organization in the area that I know of that provides help to nursing homes and residents of nursing homes,” says Abbie Baumann, When Help Can’t Wait board member. “We collect funds to supply nursing home residents with necessary items that most nursing homes don’t provide such as clothing, adult diapers, and toiletries.” As a non-profit organization, most of the funding comes through grants, fundraisers, and donations. When Help Can’t Wait also operates a Thrift Store located at 122 Old Evans Road – Suite B and proceeds from sales benefit the elderly.

SWAT Foundation, Inc. Marquitta Rucker, Founder & Executive Director “SWAT Foundation’s mission is to educate, elevate, and empower the community by the services that we provide - with an emphasis on serving those who have been impacted by cancer,” explains Marquitta, who lost her mother to cancer in 2013. SWAT, which stands for Servants with a Testimony, hosts an annual health fair to provide access to free health screenings for the community. “We also partner with schools to provide school supplies and toiletries for families in need,” she adds, “so that they don’t have to make the choice between buying those supplies and paying for food or medical bills.”

TBonz Steakhouses of Evans & Augusta Henry Scheer, Co-Owner For over thirty years, TBonz has partnered with Augusta University Health’s Camp Rainbow to provide a great summer camp experience for a special group of kids. “Camp Rainbow is a camp for kids with cancer and their siblings,” explains Henry. “With doctors and nurses on-site, it’s a week out of the year when the kids can just be kids.” Henry says it’s the kids that keep them coming back to help each year. “Through all the shots and all the chemo, these kids just have an aura about them of calmness and peace and we want that to rub off on us,” he shares. “So, we’re really being greedy by wanting to be with them. We enjoy it so much.”
Dr. George W. Williams, Jr., M.D. OBGYN Partners of Augusta Dr. Williams made a name for himself as an OBGYN in Augusta. Throughout his career, he has delivered around 15,000 babies in the CSRA. “It’s exciting bringing a new life to the world,” says Dr. Williams. He continues to serve and love his patients at OBGYN Partners of Augusta, where he has worked since 1980. He is also passionate about helping those in need by going on medical mission trips to tell others about Jesus.

THE TRAINERS AT QUALITY K9 CONCEPTS ARE READY TO HELP ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY BAILEY MORRIS
Matt Hammond, owner of Quality K9 Concepts (QK9C for short), was in the army for ten years as a dog handler. He started QK9C in 2003 after leaving the army. “We do basic pet training, behavior modification for dogs who have aggression towards food, people, or other dogs, and territory elimination. We also do service dog training and we breed and train detection dogs for government contracts and detection services for explosives and narcotics,” says Matt. “QK9C is really a hobby that got grossly out of control. I was just helping some friends and then I’d do another job and then another one…,” shares Matt. “Everything with a dog stands off from an obedience relationship. If you live an active lifestyle and you’re always hiking, out in public, or on vacation, you want your dog to be a part of that. The best way to make that not an inconvenience or a headache is to have that obedience foundation. It’s reassuring to know that when you pull up to a hotel and you're getting stuff out of the car, you can put your dog in a down. You know he's not going to run across the parking lot and you’ll spend hours looking for him in an unfamiliar neighborhood,” says Matt. There are eleven trainers at QK9C, seven of which are in the CSRA. All of the QK9C trainers are educated and are continuously learning by taking classes and attending seminars. “We treat each dog as if it were our own, and we’re not heavy with them at all. We would rather the dog work for us for food than work for us for correction. We have the ability and the training to correct bad behaviors if we need to when they come up,” says Matt. “The great thing about our company is because there are so many local trainers, if one of them gets into a bind with a dog and they can’t figure something

out or the dog is not responding to them, they’ll call the other trainers or they’ll call me and we’ll work together to fix the problem. You’ll have nine sets of eyes looking at the dog,” says Matt. The QK9C team takes everything into consideration when training dogs. They sit down with the owner and go over what their needs are in a dog and what will make their perfect pet. They then go train the dog based on that information. “One of the things that we tell all our people is when you come to us, we’re going to teach you emergency downs and basic commands. We teach your dog how to function and live around you and your lifestyle, not what we want them to do but what you need them to do and form our obedience packages around that. We’re not just a money-making machine; we care about the dog more than we care about the income from it and are here to help people with their animals any way that we can,” says Matt.
