A Luxurious and High-tech Salon Experience
“We've always wanted to own a building, to put down roots, and to make sure if rent goes up or peo ple sell buildings, we would be stable,” says Dani. This new building is twice the space they have had in previous locations, leaving them room for 12 stations plus 2 esthetician rooms. They considered renting out part of the extra space, but instead, they turned the building into a multi-faceted experience for clients.
Clementine's Salon is making a significant name for itself in the region and throughout the industry. From new locations to an app for your phone, the company is doing things a bit differently, and the clients are benefiting.
The last decade has brought substantial growth to Clementine's. Dani and John Everson launched the first location in Denver's LoHi neighborhood in 2011. The second salon started offering services in 2017 in Aurora's Stanley Marketplace, and in July, the third Clementine's opened in Olde Town Arvada. The Arvada location marks the first time the company has owned the building where the salon operates.

Dani also worked with a developer to design SkinForYou—an app that allows users to track their skincare routines. It includes reminders and alerts and even lets you connect directly to the estheti cian at Clementine's providing guidance.

One thing Clementine's is doing to offset that is its new apprentice program. Unlike traditional apprenticeships, Clementine's puts the protégés into the field faster, so they can get experience and feedback to fine-tune their skills more quickly. On the Clementine's website, you can even sign up specifically for an appointment with one of these new stylists. “Some people are looking for a more economical option but still want to experience Clementine's atmosphere. This is a great way to make that happen. Everyone benefits.”

Mister Oso in Denver is essentially the Latin parent restaurant to Osito. The group wanted to carry the spirit of Mister Oso into a more casual environment.
Chanelle Kawamura, Managing Partner and General Manager of Mister Oso, is from Hawaii and spent time living in Buenos Aires. She says in both places, groups gather together to share dishes. “Osito reminds me of that as well as the luaus in Hawaii. It's that same spirit of connection with passion for preparing food with love to share with others.”

A special condiment that goes on the Osito guaca mole is a great example of the restaurant's innovation. It's made with sikil pak, which is Mayan in origin. They take pepitas—which are pumpkin seeds, pistachios, pumpkin seed oil, and olive oil and grind them into a modern condiment with historically traditional flavors.
Osito opened in July at the new Freedom Street Social in Arvada. Freedom Street Social is a modern twist on the open food courts of the 1980s. This new food hall is a hub for culinary stars to shine and for people to try a variety of yummy treats with friends-all in a common, sleek seating area. Osito is one of eight food concepts at Freedom Street Social, which includes a full bar and community space.
Osito features smoked meat tacos, mission-style bur ritos, and snacks such as queso, empanadas, Frito pie, and a rotating variety of frozen margaritas. Chef Blake Edmunds is a partner with Culinary Creative specializing in Latin cuisine. He says, “Osito is a fun, stripped-down version of Mister Oso.” It's not just street food. “We offer our tacos in the fashion of a BBQ style format, placing all of the components on the platter separately, so that our guests can build

Jewelry, although sometimes commonly mis conceived as “materialistic,” is highly per sonal. The 356 was Porsche’s first model, making this a coveted vehicle. In model year 1956, the 356 was replaced with the 356 A; as a 1959, Elevation Motors’ Porsche falls into this category. The rarity of this particular model increases its desirability and worth. They are exceptionally difficult to come by; Shuey comments that he has only sold a handful of Porsche 356 A Roadster Outlaws in his years at the dealership. With a sleek black exterior and a red leather interior, this 1959 Porsche 356 Roadster is both functional and visually striking. The eye-catch ing red leather seating fits four and contrasts with the dark, sophisticated body for a vehicle that refuses to be ignored. All of these fac tors contribute to this vehicle’s approximate $228,000 worth. The current home of this Porsche, Elevation Motors, is just as unique as the vehicle itself. What started on a small lot in West Colfax in 2008 is now one of the Denver area's largest indoor dealers operating out of a renovated bowling alley. Elevation Motors’ focus is specialty cars, such as the 1959 Porsche 356 Roadster. “We sell specialty vehicles that might be harder to sell than your average vehicle,” Shuey notes. The free, three-day, community festival is in its 97th year, celebrating the harvest season and Arvada's rich history and character.
