When thinking of a special place to dine, Luci’s Steakhouse is first to come to mind. Not only does Luci’s exude elegance but the menu and extensive wine list are also part of the dining experience that Luci’s is known for. Our table enjoyed meltin-your-mouth, Wagyu carpaccio and grilled octopus to start, followed by a crisp Caesar salad. We then indulged in mouth-watering, double-cut lamb chops, bone-in ribeye, and petite filet. Prime steaks are wet-aged with dry-aging in-house from Allen Brothers of Chicago & Buckhead meat. Popular accompaniments include basil corn, Brussels sprouts, Parmesan truffle fries, and lobster mac & cheese. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the gracious owners, Polo and Gigi Castro who floated around the dining room greeting each table, making everyone dining in their establishment feel special. Polo has an extensive background managing high-end restaurants, including Buckhead Life, Pricci, Chops Lobster Bar, Pampas and Frankies where he was director of operations for 17 years. His partner in life and the restaurant is his wife Gigi, who designed the interior. “My goal was to create a functional, inviting, warm and welcoming environment,” says Gigi. “We have opened many other restaurants and have the passion for taking care of our guests. workshop detailing what it takes to make a mural, and she worked with students individually throughout the installation. “I’m honored to have been part of such an important project in our community. Not only to share my love for creativity and the arts, but also to enhance the beauty of the greenway,” says student artist Isabel. “This project has allowed me the opportunity to develop my artistic skill and express my passion in a unique way, especially with the amount of help we’ve been given from the [North Fulton] Rotary and Mrs. Kimball. I’m thrilled with the progress and momentum the project has had and am excited to see what the future of high school public art installations will hold!” “I am so grateful that I was presented with this opportunity. I was able to broaden my artistic skillset by experimenting with a new medium in a new environment. My favorite part of the experience was interacting with passersby on the Greenway,” says Abby, one of the student artists. “Hearing exclamations of gratitude and seeing smiles made my day every time. The Rotary of North Fulton has an ethos of “fellowship through service” as evident with the recently completed beautification project along the Big Creek Alpharetta Greenway. One of the founding members, Richard Matherly, has lived along the greenway for over 15 years and had envisioned the raised sewer turrets as canvases for murals to enhance guests’ experience along the trail. Along with Richard, Rotary president Lisa Gelber, Amie Blanton, Chris Miller and Thomas Nolfa formed a committee to bring this vision to fruition. Many fellow Rotarians participated in the installations to bring this special service project to our community. Conceptually presented first to Fulton County Public Works, and with their blessings, Rotarians worked with Arts Alpharetta and through the approval process with the Alpharetta Cultural Arts Committee. An artist call was held at local high schools, giving the students a chance to submit their designs to honor clean water. Eight were chosen for this first phase. Annalysa Kimball, a professional muralist, mentored and advised the high school students. She hosted a design

To show the positive impact that the initiative has already had on our community, the city recently awarded each artist with a Certificate of Recognition signed by the mayor and presented at the December Cultural Arts Committee meeting. Due to the raving comments already received, the Rotary of North Fulton envisions this project will continue for years until all of the applicable areas of the trail are beautified by murals. “I feel proud and pleased to be offered this opportunity to help send an important message and

permanently make a mark in our community! This mural helped me find a new way to connect my joy of art to the real world and allowed me to gain new experiences in many different ways,” says student artist Kamal. “Additionally, it was nice to connect with a community of artists and be surrounded by individuals like me. LNB Candles was started more than 16 years ago in Alpharetta by Michelle Walters as a way to accommodate her daughter’s allergies to chemicals, while staying true to her love and enjoyment of candles. The word quickly grew and soon keeping it as a home-based business became impossible. Michelle’s husband came down one morning for breakfast and was greeted with 450 candles throughout the home being prepared for three weddings. It was time for the next step: a retail location. Today LNB Candles has a wonderful retail store that both new and regular customers love to visit, shop, and update Michelle with conversations of life’s daily milestones. The store provides the Alpharetta area and beyond with clean ingredient candles, room sprays, perfumes and an expanding line of home essentials. They also offer refills on candle containers. Michelle is constantly updating and adding new product lines.

In addition to clean soy wax candles, find car fresheners, perfumes and body sprays, room sprays, hand sanitizers, diffusers, plug-in diffusers, and custom orders for weddings and events. The retail store is located near Halycon at 6778 Jamestown Drive, Alpharetta. Products can be found online at their website, Amazon and Walmart. Delivery and pick-up are also offered for convenience. CANDLE LOVER’S TIPS:

Use a blow dryer on a medium-high setting to soften the small amount of wax left at the bottom of a jar or candle holder. You can remove it with a gentle cloth. Trimming the wick allows the flame to have a clearer and brighter burn. Keeping wicks shorter also means your candles will have a cleaner burn.
