trim repair, siding repair and wood rot repair. CertaPro Painters’ expert staff paints over 500 homes every year. There is no lack when it comes to training their staff. Painters are regularly assessed and trained for safety and technique and their customer service team also receives frequent training. “We want our clients to experience customer service the CertaPro way,” says Sheri of CertaPro Painters of the CSRA. “We know that this isn’t just painting, this is where you’re living and it’s how you express yourself in your home.”

With CertaPro Painters, you get a professionally managed paint job. “We have somebody doing proposals that are very well written. It has to be clearly identified in writing what’s going to happen because we’re going to pass that to the paint crew. We have a production manager whose job is to make sure our guys are following the terms of the contract and quality assurance. We have another person in the office, the customer care consultant, and her job is to answer questions and be available for our customers,” says Sheri. Consultations are complementary with CertaPro Painters. “I come to your home with the color deck and we talk about the colors in your home,” says Sheri. She pays attention to things like the lighting in
your home, carpet colors, and furniture because all of those will affect the presentation of paint colors. “Color is about light. We have to make sure that the color that’s chosen, if it’s throughout the home, is the right color in all of the rooms with the lighting,” says Sheri. From color selection to completion, CertaPro Painters of the CSRA makes the process easy. To receive an online estimate for your home, visit their website certapro.com/ augusta. To schedule an in-home consultation, or for more information about CertaPro Painters of the CSRA, call (803)295-5160. CertaPro Painters of the CSRA is proud to say that they have over two hundred positive reviews on google.

“The average wine cellar has 2,000 pieces of wood in it, and it all has to be exact for it to look right,” says Mark.
Have you ever wanted to have your own wine cellar? As a full-service wine cellar company, Vinworx specializes in creating luxury wine cellars for private homes. “We design, build, and install custom wine cellars,” says Mark Rhodes, owner of Vinworx. “We service throughout South Carolina, eastern Georgia, and southern North Carolina.” Vinworx was started fifteen years ago by Mark. “I’ve been building furniture for years,” he shares. “I put a small wine cabinet in a wine store in downtown Augusta as a hobby. A contractor saw it and called me - he wanted to know if I could build a wine cellar for a client he was building a house for. I gave him a drawing and a price, they accepted it, and I built a large wine cellar for them. Three weeks later, I got another phone call to build another wine cellar,” says Mark. After that, Mark started advertising his services and began building wine cellars full time. Vinworx also installs wine cellars in previously built homes. “We’ve converted bathrooms, closets, garages, bedrooms… anything you can think of, we’ve converted it into a wine cellar,” explains Mark. “We come out and take a look at the place, then we’ll design the wine cellar to the space. More often than not, these spaces are finite, so we have to design with the space available, not so much design a wine cellar and build a room around it.” “We do all the design services. We build them ourselves, nothing is farmed out,” says Mark.
20
EXP E RT H E LP | FOOD + BE VE RAGE
Vinworx designs a wine cellar, provides the client with a drawing of the design, and then discusses any changes the client wants to make. After deciding to move forward with the wine cellar, Vinworx starts building. In their shop, Mark and his staff begin by cutting all the little parts and pieces. “The average wine cellar has 2,000 pieces of wood in it, and it all has to be exact for it to look right,” says Mark. Then they assemble the pieces into bigger components, bring those to the job site, and assemble the cellar. Mark loves taking people’s ideas and bringing them to life. “When you tell me you want to keep wine in this room, we sit down and come up with a design. We create one that you like aesthetically and one that is efficient in terms of optimizing the space. When you’re spending money on this kind of thing, you want to fit as much wine in the room as possible,” says Mark. “I think the biggest misconception about wine cellars is that people think that they have to be these really big, over-the-top rooms. We do a lot of closet conversions where people have a closet and they want to keep three hundred bottles of wine, and we can do that.” If you would like more information about building a wine cellar in your home, you can reach out to Vinworx by calling (803)617-8182. AMEN CORNER PONDS SPECIALIZES IN ONE-OF-A KIND KOI PONDS ARTICLE BY JASMIN GARRARD PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
Known for their work around the community of Aiken, Amen Corner Ponds sure does know how to upgrade curb appeal. Ethan Hammond, owner of Amen Corner Ponds, had no doubt that this craft was his future from a very early age. Ethan started work for his dad’s pool cleaning company when he was just 13 years old, and when the business grew to cleaning ponds, Ethan knew soon enough that his passion was going to be turned into his career. In 2017, Amen Corner Ponds launched and has grown to be a successful company through the faithfulness of its customers and employees. We know you are curious, so we asked Hammond, ‘how did “Amen Corner Ponds” come up with their name?’ You guessed it! While it is a nod to a well-known area of the Augusta National in Augusta, GA, it is also a name that Ethan and his father came up with as a way to incorporate their faith with their business. They find the integration to be an important part of what they do and they wanted to incorporate their roots. What a creative way to give honor to the area you originated from and incorporate a piece of yourself! Ethan’s favorite part about creating his one-of-akind koi ponds is all of the artistry and creativity that goes into building and designing the ponds and waterfalls. He believes it is not just about the waterfall or water feature itself, but the creation’s ability to bring everyone together. It gives people a reason to gather together outside, immerse themselves in nature and enjoy creation in a unique way. Ethan Hammond wants his ponds to be a way to get rid of the distractions of the world and hang out around the pond while bonding with family and friends. Amen Corner Ponds offers installations of water features, koi ponds, pondless waterfalls and soundscapes. They also offer maintenance on all of these installations CONTINUED >

alongside maintenance on fountains and decorative water features. Maintenance packages and spring cleanings are offered for koi ponds and waterfalls. One feature that Amen Corner Ponds boasts, is that it uses a natural approach to filtration as an alternative to the traditional, more harsh filtration systems commonly seen with water design. The process they use to build the filtration system offers you a low maintenance and more enjoyable water feature, therefore allowing you more time to spend with those you love. While Amen Corner Ponds knocks residential curb appeal out of the park, they also know how to enhance the aesthetics of your commercial property. If you have been looking for a commercial upgrade, a customized Amen Corner Pond may be the answer you are looking for. This beautiful addition will offer your business a way to draw customers in and have them linger inside your business just a little bit longer. Ethan Hammond would like to attribute the success of Amen Corner Ponds to his amazing employees Timothy Hajduk, John McGowan, and Conner Downey. Without their hard work and dedication to his growing business, Amen Corner Ponds would not be the company it is today. When they work together, they are able to create masterpieces for their customers and in turn, bring life and beauty to the homes and businesses of Aiken, SC.

CITY LIFESTYLE: SHARE WITH US YOUR BACKGROUND AND THE INFLUENCE IT HAD ON YOUR JOURNEY TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY. DAPHNE OZ : I was born in Philly, raised in New Jersey, and now
my husband and our four kids and I live in Florida. I spend a few days each week working in NYC taping our new syndicated talk show, The Good Dish, covering everything delicious in daytime which is a dream job for an eater by nature, by calling and by choice—like I am.
CL: WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR HOSTING A MEMORABLE DINNER PARTY AT HOME? DO: When I entertain, my general approach is: Abundant Simplicity.
Appetizers are generous piles of a few different things – olives, hunks of parmesan, spiced nuts, torn bread with herby oil to dunk in, sliced Persian cucumbers with a pool of labne or Greek yogurt, olive oil, and flaky salt for dipping. I look for recipes that are simple or that I’ve made 100 times before that are always crowd pleasers and leave me plenty of time to enjoy my company. The whole point of a beautiful evening together is to make sure you, the host, are relaxed and comfortable, because your guests will take their cue from you.
