Style is Subjective

I think it's fascinating to be invited into someone's home for the first time. Depending on how you know them, you've likely seen them dressed in several different types of outfits, or possibly they've only been in a work uniform.

But step into their home and what a story it tells! You see what they like, what types of things are important to them, and get a completely different sense of this person you know. You might see cheer, serenity or warmth, among other things. You can see both their history and their current life. Add in getting to see them interact with their family or added friends and you learn even more.

Everyone has a style of some kind. It might show up in your clothing choices or it might be on full display in your home, but you know what you like, what makes you comfortable and what makes you feel the most like yourself.

This issue shares spectacular home and personal fashions. Myranda gives us a glimpse into how she uses her finely curated style to be a walking billboard for her brand, Myranda Fine Jewelry. She brings the sassy and sublime, much like her bespoke pieces.

Interior Designer Lisa Whyte shares four varied decor styles to consider for your home. These might give you a jumping-off point to try a new look or you might borrow a tip or two to enhance what you already love about your space.

Tabitha Dumas helps us understand color analysis and the benefits of finding the colors that will elevate your clothing choices to look your absolute best. We've all experienced the energy we get when we know we're wearing something that makes us shine.

We hope you find a great way to complement your style within these pages. Minimalist or decked out head to toe, your style is personal and pivotal.

Cheers to feeling fabulous in all ways!

Local jewelry designer’s sparkling style shines as bright as her diamonds

From her gorgeous jewelry pieces to her impeccably curated home and killer wardrobe, Myranda of Myranda Fine Jewelry is the embodiment of style.

Growing up in the Valley from humble beginnings, Myranda’s mom gave her an invaluable piece of style advice that continues to shape her life today. “No matter where we were in life,” she recalls, “my mom would always say, ‘Wake

up every morning like you’re going to meet the president.’ I always remember that.”

That advice set Myranda on a trajectory of fashion that is rooted in classic styling, impeccable tailoring and colorful accessories that are as fun and bright as her personality.

“I try to incorporate green and gold into all of my outfits, and I love wearing red Chanel lipstick in the color ‘Pirate’,” says Myranda. “I love styles from the 1950s to the current. I would call my style classic, vintage and feminine.”

It’s no surprise then that she lists Audrey Hepburn, Bridgette Bardot and Marilyn Monroe among her style icons, and masterfully mixes vintage and modern pieces.

While she says Saks Fifth Avenue caters to her contemporary style, Myranda loves the thrill of the hunt in vintage shops. “Second-hand stores are my favorite,” she says. “There are hidden gems waiting to be found in each one.”

And her final touch to any outfit? A spritz of her favorite fragrance.

“Baccarat Rouge is my signature scent. Years ago, I was inspired by my mentor, who also wore the scent. I never thought anything could be better than Baccarat Rouge, until my best friend brought me this other scent from London: Baiser Volé by Cartier. It’s a dream.”

When asked about her favorite color, Myranda reveals it’s not a shade, but a bona fide sensation.

“My favorite color is sparkle,” says Myranda. “The reason I love the color sparkle is because it has every color mixed in one. There is literally no way that sparkle doesn’t leave you beaming with happiness. Everything in my life is inspired by sparkle.”

Putting all the pieces together comes naturally to Myranda, and her style philosophy is intrinsic.  “Style is an identity; the language to our souls,” Myranda shares. “It’s how we communicate to others who we are at just a simple glance.”

Interior design style can be an extension of personal style, and no one knows that better than Lisa Whyte of Whyte House Design. Curating your home is just like building a wardrobe: it’s a process of collecting pieces that resonate with you.

“Putting together design elements you love will make your interior style your own,” she says. “Think about colors, textures and materials that you are naturally drawn to. Reflect on what makes you feel comfortable and happy in a space.”

Feeling lost when it comes to crafting your ideal space? According to Whyte, the key lies in understanding how you live and what purposes your home needs to fulfill. “Think about daily routines, hobbies and interests, and the functionality you require from your home,” she says.

Whyte shares four design styles that are sure to inspire you to elevate your interiors.

CONTEMPORARY CASUAL

“This interior design style is a fusion of modern aesthetics with a relaxed, comfortable ambiance,” says Whyte. “This style is defined by its simplicity, functionality and understated elegance.” Whyte shares key elements that are crucial to incorporate into the design are neutral and soft color palettes, and natural materials and textures paired with useful and comfortable furniture. “Choose neutral shades like whites, beiges, greys and soft taupes as the primary colors,” she says.

MASCULINE MEETS FEMININE

Opposites attract in this design style. Whyte says she finds that while spouses sometimes have conflicting design preferences, skillfully combining them can create a match made in heaven. While masculine design elements feature clean lines and minimalism using industrial and rustic materials, feminine design would be decorative and ornamental, using luxurious materials to create a cozy and inviting space. “In this bathroom, we have tile in a dark neutral that has a modern industrial feel. The bathtub has a glamorous feel with the chandelier, and the vanity space gets a touch of feminine glam with a velvet chair, decorative florals

and neutral wood cabinets,” says Whyte. “The goal is always to blend two or more styles together to make them feel cohesive and timeless.”

MODERN DESERT

Create an interior that works together with the natural environment by bringing in colors of our iconic Arizona sunsets and textures that evoke the beauty of the desert. “Imagine a home that harmoniously integrates earthy textures, desert hues and minimalist design principles to create a serene and inviting atmosphere. Frank Lloyd Wright could be a big inspiration in this style of design. He had a basic principle that ‘form and function are one,’” Whyte says. “We have such a beautiful backdrop with our Sonoran Desert landscape,

Nancy Meyers' films captivate audiences not just with A-list actors, but also with their impeccably designed interiors. The enduring popularity of this style, defined by its mix of comfort and elegance, speaks volumes about its timelessness. “Meyers’ style is a perfect combination of classic and contemporary elements featuring neutral palettes, warm lighting and inviting, well-appointed spaces,” says Whyte. “People are drawn to this style because it feels timeless with a lived-in feel, while also staying elegant and charming. These characteristics make her designs so visually appealing, but also practical and livable – creating spaces that people love to spend time in.” To create this style in your own home, Whyte suggests shopping at a mix of vintage and thrift stores like Vintageous Life, as well as big-box retailers like Arhaus and Anthropologie.

Your Wardrobe THE SECRET WEAPON IN

UNVEILING THE POWER OF COLOR ANALYSIS TO BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE AND NATURAL BEAUTY

Ever wonder why certain colors make you glow, while others leave you looking washed out? It’s all about harnessing the power of color. Tabitha Dumas of Signature Color Style, a Certified Image Consultant in the East Valley who helps women of all ages find their best hues, shares how to find your perfect shades, incorporate color into your wardrobe and feel unstoppable. So, whether you're a color enthusiast or just starting to explore its impact, get ready to dive into a world of vibrancy and discover the colors that make you shine!

“Regardless of your size or your age, the right colors can make you look more put-together. Once you find your favorites, you’ll probably start playing more with makeup, jewelry and accessories, too. As your style confidence grows, your whole life gets a boost!”
First, let’s start with the basics – what is color analysis and why is it important?

Color analysis is a system of determining a person's best colors to wear based on their hair, skin and eyes. Everyone has colors they look best in and not-so-great in, and it has to do with contrast as well as other factors. While, yes, ‘everyone can wear any color,’ having your colors done means knowing the ones that best suit your individual characteristics. For example, a blonde with blue eyes and fair skin looks stunning in pale pink or light greens whereas a brown-eyed brunette with tan skin would look better in deeper jewel tones. Warm versus cool undertones are also a factor.

Benefits include a boost in confidence, being able to clear out the closet of colors that don't work, shopping within a limited color palette, an easier time getting dressed, and saving a lot of time and money! Many of my clients build a capsule wardrobe which simplifies their life and helps them enjoy getting dressed again.

Tell us more about warm versus cool.

Here’s the great news: most people I analyze are neutral and can wear a spectrum of colors and any jewelry finish. Rose gold jewelry is particularly flattering on most people, and if in doubt, wear a mix of gold and silver. With jewelry and makeup, the trick is that if you’re wearing warmer colors, wear gold jewelry and warm makeup. If you’re wearing cooler colors, wear silver jewelry and cool makeup.

Tabitha Dumas of Signature Color Style, a Certified Image Consultant in the East Valley who helps women of all ages find their best hues, shares how to find your perfect shades, incorporate color into your wardrobe and feel unstoppable. So, whether you’re a color enthusiast or just starting to explore its impact, get ready to dive into a world of vibrancy and discover the colors that make you shine.

What is the most surprising thing people discover when they find their best colors?

For most people, black and white drains life out of your face. Most people look more alive and youthful in colors. Not only is navy blue more flattering than black on a lot of people, but it’s also less boring and expected.

The other thing people are surprised by is that every person can wear every color—it just depends on which shade or intensity. It’s all about what flatters your features and what you feel confident in.

What can we do to make our natural beauty shine using color?

My best tip is to match the top half of your outfit to your eyes, in both color and intensity. Most people look fantastic wearing the same color as their eye color. It creates balance, and makes you look more trustworthy. Also match the color intensity to your eyes. Women with neutral, dark

brown eyes look terrific in dark colors like teal, plum and forest green. Gals with blue-green or hazel eyes can usually pull off colors of medium intensity and muted or heathered colors. If your eyes are bright green or blue, bright, true colors are the way to go.

One last question: what is your best advice for our readers?

I preach it all the time: wear more color. Whether you’re a mom in yoga pants and t-shirts at home, or you’re retired and playing pickleball at the club, the colors you wear really affect your mood and how people perceive you. Regardless of your size or your age, the right colors can make you look more put-together. Once you find your favorites, you’ll probably start playing more with makeup, jewelry and accessories, too. As your style confidence grows, your whole life gets a boost!
