We have all had our challenges to deal with through Covid. Many businesses were forced to close their doors for months, I certainly hope there are not too many that have to make this permanent.

Many have adapted and changed the way they had to deliver their service. Hotels and restaurants provided takeaway and deliveries became a regular feature for many. Many of us had to rely on the internet for our communication, I for one had never heard of Zoom before lockdown but it very quickly became a part of my daily schedule.

Lockdown has brought out the best in many of our communities. I hope that the community spirit that came to the fore continues way beyond lockdown. There have been a number of businesses collaborating and helping each other out and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the businesses who have helped Lifestyle during lockdown.

We were determined to keep Lifestyle going throughout lockdown to provide a service to the business community and not to deny our loyal readers their copy of Lifestyle that I know they look forward to. There wasn’t much to look forward to through lockdown and this was just our way of offering a little bit of light relief. With many of the regular distribution points closed, we had to re think our delivery strategy.

In April the first issue was distributed to the supermarkets and newsagents that had remained open. We then called on the volunteers across Moray who were delivering care packages to hundreds of people isolated in their homes. Each care package had a magazine included. Moray Food Plus very kindly assisted with this process delivering the boxes of magazines to each volunteer hub with their weekly food delivery. What a fantastic job Moray Food Plus has done, along with all the volunteers from each community, delivering meals and care packages throughout lockdown.

David Robertson of Pozzis in Buckie kindly agreed to deliver the magazines with his newspapers across Buckie and the surrounding areas. I would like to say a massive thank you to David and all his paper loons. Alan took magazines and delivered them along with parcels, thank you.

In July Lifestyle returned to more shops as they reopened. Pozzis once again stepped up as did the Sewing Shop in Fochabers. I was also grateful to Alastair at Bishopmill Pharmacy and Kevin at Rothes Pharmacy who kindly delivered magazines with the prescriptions they regularly deliver around the communities. The service pharmacies provide is vital to our local communities and we all owe them our gratitude. I am certainly grateful to them for their help.

The Mill House delivered meals and many of their speciality cocktails. Thank you to Steven for including copies of Lifestyle.

Last but by no means least, my thanks to Annie and Ryan at Boogie Woogie in Keith. During lockdown Annie became famous for her afternoon teas and delivered over 2000 during lockdown. Ryan delivered Lifestyles during July along with their deliveries. Boogie Woogie has had a makeover and has now reopened, you really must visit.

I hope we all keep helping each other it’s the only way we can survive.
