Hasbro Children’s Hospital is so important to me because the nurses and doctors are heroes! They help and save children’s lives every day and make us smile too! In the summer of 2018 I was admitted to the hospital because I had a severe headache, stomach pain, hives and joint pain. I saw many doctors and they were all so kind! I had numerous tests and blood work done and the only thing that would get me to smile was my amazing nurse Krystyna! She was always so kind and always asked if I needed anything. I had some fun visitors to help make me laugh and take my mind off things during my stay. I had musicians, clowns, and cute therapy dogs. Even the U.S. Navy Blue Angels came in to visit and I got to take a picture with them! I would also get to go in the playroom and make crafts or take activities to my room to help keep me busy. Every night I was there I looked forward to the good night lights before I went to bed. After being in the hospital for almost two weeks, Dr. Christine Andrews and Dr. Brian Alverson diagnosed me with a rare disease called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. All of the nurses and doctors took great care of me.
My favorites were Dr. Andrews, Dr. Alverson and Dr. Angie Anderson. They came in my room every morning and said jokes to me, did magic tricks and even danced for me! I loved them so much! Since then I’ve been hospitalized twice and each time every doctor and nurse I had was wonderful. I want to give a big shot out to Dr. Angie Anderson for helping me so much through this journey. Every time I see her she makes me laugh and smile! One of the times I was in the ER at hospital Angie went home and came all the way back just to bring us sleeping bags to help make us more comfortable. I love you Angie! It has been one year since this diagnoses and I am still battling some of the symptoms and learn more about this disease. I have an awesome team of doctors that I constantly see, Dr. Anderson, Dr. Pelletier, Dr. Zheng, Dr. Ziegler, Dr. Kerman and Dr. Herzlinger. They are all amazing and have worked so hard to make me feel better! Thank you Hasbro for all that you do for children and their families!
