The study of 2,000 adults by Princes Fish also found that 31% now only fill the kettle with as much water as they actually need, 27% of us turn electricals off at the socket and 22% wash clothes at low temperatures. It also emerged that these efforts are not just benefiting the planet as 23% said their household is now closer due to working together to be greener. Other efforts at becoming greener have included batch cooking, upcycling old household items and cycling or walking instead of driving. Keep up the great work!

THE REAL TOOTH FAIRY…

Did you know… every year 300 million toothpaste tubes end up in the UK’s landfills? If these tubes were laid out end-to-end, the plastic line would stretch 75,000km, the equivalent of almost twice around the world. A toothpaste tube needs almost 500 years to fully biodegrade in a landfill, according to a report by the waste management firm BusinessWaste.
Now you can switch to an eco-friendly, vegan, zerowaste and plastic-free toothpaste - British-made toothpaste tabs, PÄRLA PRO, which clean effectively and also naturally whiten teeth. The tabs are available from parlatoothpastetabs.com and boots. com and cost £8 a month on subscription.
