What your sleeping position says about you

How do you sleep at night? Most of us adopt a preferred position to fall asleep, but did you know that it says a lot about the person you are. The Bed Post explains it all…

FETUS: The fetal position is the most popular position with a 41% preference. The ball-like position, with the legs pulled up to the chest, may alleviate snoring and is ideal for pregnant women. Those who adopt this position are said to have a tough exterior, but are very shy, and may take some time to warm up, but will eventually relax.

LOG: This position is characterised by a person lying straight on their side with arms straight down by their sides. People who choose to fall asleep in this position are typically social and easy going. They are perhaps a little too trusting and therefore easily deceived.

YEARNER: This position is where you lay on your side with both arms stretched in front of you. ‘Yeraners’ are perceived as open and social, but are typically suspicious. They also tend to take a long time to make decisions.

SOLDIER: Flat on your back, with both arms straight down by your sides, this position reflects is adopted by individuals that are typically easy going and reserved. It is one of the most recommended positions by experts because it helps with acid reflux and prevents wrinkle, because nothing is pressed against the face. It’s also a great position for helping keep the back and neck aligned.

FREE-FALLER: Sleeping flat on the stomach with arms outstretched – either above the head or wrapped around a pillow – is usually adopted by those who are extroverted, outgoing and tend to take criticism poorly. It’s not a great position for the neck or back, but it can help alleviate snoring and aid digestion.

STARFISH: This flat on the back position, with arms above the head, is worst for those who snore or who have breathing difficulties, despite it being a favoured position. These sleepers make good friends as they’re always prepared to listen.

It’s called Shaken Other and is ideal for flexitarians, those unable to drink dairy or anyone wanting to try something different. It’s made using ethicallysourced coconut milk and has no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
