This month we have decided to dedicate our regular article page to a bit of unashamed promotion of our three books.
The last year has been very difficult for everyone; our publisher has reminded us that presently there are more books being read than ever before which is great, but most of the book shops are shut! As a result, purchasing of books online has risen.
Our publications are a ‘labour of love’. We teamed up with Amberley publishing in 2012 to ensure that our publications would be available far and wide. This also includes being made available in digital format. Any profit made by the OHO (which is a small royalty percentage) is used to fund our exhibition material, pay for our talks and to purchase items for our collection.

Around Orpington Through Time
invites you to explore the fascinating history of Orpington and its district through 'then and now' photographs. The Industrial Revolution of the latter part of the 19th century had a big impact on the area, along with the coming of the railway in the 1860s, while the arterial road built in the 1920s changed Orpington forever. Orpington and the surrounding areas have played their part on the world stage, but it is the change within the past 100 years that this book focuses on. Covering Orpington, Chelsfield, Crofton, Downe, Farnborough, Green Street Green, Locksbottom, Petts Wood, Pratt's Bottom, St Mary Cray and St Paul's Cray, this is a 'must-have' step back in time for any resident or visitor familiar with the area.
History Tour takes the reader on a historical tour. With the help of a handy location map, readers are invited along to discover how Orpington’s most recognisable locations and hidden-away gems have changed over time. This book brings the previous book, Around Orpington Through Time, to life in a practical large pocket size book to make it easy to use whilst you tour.
presents a detailed portrait of a town and a way of life that has radically changed or disappeared, showing not just the buildings and industries that have gone, but also many popular places of leisure and entertainment. This fascinating photographic history of lost Orpington and the surrounding areas will appeal to all those who live here or know the area well, as well as those who remember it from previous decades.
