Star response

In response to last month’s Final Thought article (Poetry in the face of adversity), which encouraged readers to put pen to paper and send in their poems, Judy Douglas sent in this wonderful poem, entitled Covid, and bagged herself a £15 App Store voucher from The Bed Post.

A BIG shout out!

Thank you to thank you to my SIDCUP neighbours Vivian and Richard in DA14 6NF 020 8309 6016 www.the-bedpost.co.uk Orpington. I was confined to the house and they shopped for me and never a Sunday without a fullblown dinner. Still to this day they do it - real stars who got me through these difficult times.

Money savers

Loving your new Bromley mag, really enjoyed reading it and finding out so much more about the town that I wasn't aware of. The monthly savers section was really useful, I nearly had a heart attack reading my projected energy bills for next year so will definitely be applying your tips!

What’s Your Take...?

We ask for your views on topics that matter. This month’s question:

If you could invent a new 'neighbourhood scheme' what would you choose?

A local version of Incredible Edible, see www.incredibleedible.org.uk, but we do have in Bromley www. greenerandcleaner.co.uk which we at the Buzz like a lot.

Bromley Buzz Podcast Team – listen at bromleybuzz.podbean.com

All roads should have a nominated group of people who look out for the elderly people in their street who might need help or who are lonely.

Sally Emerson

A scheme that celebrated and rewarded people who are community volunteers – litter pickers, charity workers etc

John Winters

Next month’s question…

When life gets stressful or tough, what’s the best way of relaxing?

My neighbours use ‘WhatsApp’ to connect us all and organise street events, welcome new neighbours, plant bulbs around the grass verges and are active in litter picking. On a personal basis, they shopped for me and provided meals, all done on an informal and friendly basis - the very spirit of community living. This sort of thing could be incorporated into organisations such as Neighbourhood Watch schemes to really embrace the meaning of community.
