The RNLI has a fundraising branch near you! The Bromley, West Wickham and Hayes branch raises funds for the saving of lives at sea, and on the River Thames; also the provision of lifeguards on many of our beaches. The busiest lifeboat station in the UK is only 13 miles away on the river Thames just 10 minutes walk from Charing Cross Station. The local fundraising branch needs more helpers. Can you spend an hour or two on an occasional basis to help raise funds for Lifeboats? Or maybe join a sponsored walk along the Thames Path from Teddington Lock to Tower Lifeboat Station on Saturday 10 September. For more information phone 07928 538750

community NOTICEBOARD SUPPORTING LOCAL AUTHORS…

Multi-published author and founder of Authentic Worth Publishing, Esther Jacob, helps aspiring authors turn their stories into published books and her passion is reminding individuals that confidence starts within. Esther, 31, lives in Southeast London and is an advocate for building self-confidence and personal development. We caught up with Esther to find out more about her books…

What’s the title of your books and when did you publish them? I’ve published It’s Time to Heal, Completion, From Glory to Glory, The Power of a ForwardThinking Mindset and Confident Face; all published between the years of 2016 and 2021. How did you decide on being an author and what has been your experience so far? I started writing books through my time of journaling and expressing my thoughts on paper through blogposts and writing which led to creating my own website in 2014 called womansworthconference.wordpress.com. It transitioned in 2018 to Authentic Worth Publishing (authenticworth.com). My experiences of writing came from a place of purpose and wanting to inspire others to share their stories authentically. I also wanted to inspire local and global readers to know that they can turn their pain into purpose whilst building inner confidence. Who are your books aimed at? Who’s your target audience? Both young and mature men and women who are passionate about storytelling. I’m looking to publish more books in the near future as well as helping aspiring authors get their books published and become first time authors. How much are your books and where are they available from? Prices of our books range between £9.99- £19.99 and are available on our website at authenticworth.com/books

If you’re a local author or know of one, email hello@lifeinmagazines.co.uk for the chance to be featured.

Fran-tastic feat

Francesca Lennon has embarked on an epic 70-day journey, cycling 3,200 miles around the UK visiting 54 children’s hospices to raise money and awareness for Together for Short Lives. As a nurse, many of the children Francesca has looked after have inspired her to take on the challenge, including Henry, who was just six years old when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. After a brave three-year battle, Henry passed away earlier this year and is now laid to rest at Brightwater Memorial Park, the UK’s only indoor, aboveground cemetery, which is located in Orpington. Francesca has already raised over £33,000 and her target is £500,000.
