In 2006, we threw out 20 years of misapplied traditional ski cambers and introduced revolutionary industry-changing Banana Technology -rocker- placed specifically between your feet, combined with flat-to-mild cambers running from the inserts to the traditional contacts. Magne-Traction, Banana Tech, and C2 Power Banana Tech are premised on the fact that a snowboard is not a ski.

For 2010/11, Lib Tech has bunches of “Banana-Tron” refined and enhanced bananas. Having carved out some massive revolutionary design changes over the past few years, our experiMENTAL division continues to push performance and environmental responsibility levels through design materials and construction. This year, Mike Olson is replacing traditional fiberglass with lighter, stronger, damper, pop-enhancing and more environmentally friendly basalt volcanic fibers. New ultra-light fast growing renewable “Columbian Gold” eco wood is being built into our boards. Top sheets are made from BEANs bio polymer and all our graphics are sublimated with water based inks, rather than industry-standard toxic high gloss lacquer systems. Lib Tech is Volcanic Organic!

THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL IS A BANANA. THANKS FOR DROPPING A LINE - Ed.

Gimme a Banana!

Have you ever felt the wind go past your face and see the snow on the ground while you’re riding down a perfect powder hill. Well its awesome and back then my snowboard used to do that but now its to old, that’s why I want a skate banana (snowboard). This board is new and will make me go extra fast and carve a lot smoother. Another reason I want it is because it will make me better because its new. Some other might say that how do you know it will make you better. My answer would be that is bran new and it is light so I could do better airs oh and theirs another reason. If I could do better airs I can do better tricks and since I want to be pro then it will be a good board for me. the last reason is that it will carve so good and I will fly down the hill like everyone else maybe even beat my dad (but I doubt that). With this snowboard it will make like I said when your going down a perfect powder hill even better. So that’s why I want a skate banana and if you snowboard you should get one to. ~ Bailey (12 yrs. old.)

Dear B+, Lucky for you, Lib encourages creative spelling and punctuation. Go Bananas! ~Ed.

Show the Horns!

Hey Liberace Technologies, Green, red, white & blue. Doesn’t get any better! Kimberlee, NY Dear Kimber Lee! Thanks for noticing. ~ Ed.

Italian Stallion loves riding T.Rice’s Power Banana!

Hi Ed! How are you? Is everything ok? At last I got my Trice! Yesterday I rode it and as promised here’s my feedback: it was just stunning! Fast, great control with banana and incredible stability thanks to the camber! It is just a fantastic board: powder, ice, hardpack...it doesn’t matter, it is the best board I’ve ever ridden! Hope to ride again soon! Have a nice winter! Cheers from Italy!!!

~Roberto Oh Berto! Grazie! Fantastico! ~Ed.

Magic!

I heard a rumor Mike Olson once carved in circles on a Banana Magic for 15 minutes. Is this true? Jimmy, CO Dear KO! Actually it is. That board is enhanced! ~ Ed.

Landohhh!

Howdy Mervin duders! I work at a shop in Ottawa, Canada that deals your boards. I just finally got out on mine for the first time. I’ve been snowboarding 17 years and have NEVER had as much fun first day on a board as i did this snowy friday the 1st. I got a Lando 160 and am as stoked as stoked gets. Thanks for making snowboards that are fun to ride!!! Mucho gracias. Jordan Hey Michael! That board was supposed to go to Lando. Please return it~ Ed.

THE FIVE ERAS OF SNOW Join the Lib Tech experiMENTAL division as we continue our journey

beyond the dark Camberian Period, thru the New Age of Fruity Enlightenment and Back to the Future. Experience new levels of power and control, marvel at magically enhanced performance; all made possible by glorious-

L ERAS OF SKI BASED GEOMETRIES L PREHISTORIC PERIOD

(The Emergence of the Snowboard) •Mike Olson handbuilds early finned snowboards in woodshop. Powder design bliss! (1) • Non-functional & dangerous snow-boards (2) , known as Performers, are introduced. Local resorts ban snowboarding as a result, foreshadowing the coming of the Dark Ages... • Olson pioneers deep sidecuts providing finlike hold and snowboarding finlessly carves free of the backcountry into fields of hardpack, ice and moguls... (3)

CRO-MAGNE PERIOD

CAMBERIAN PERIOD

(Toothed Tool Revolution)

(The Dark Ages)

• Ski theories reign supreme and snowboarding joy is threatened by disciplined legions of armored gate bashing ski boarders.(5) The cry of “you carve, you carve” echos through the hills like a dark plague over freedom. • Jamie Lynn’s mystic power freestyle trickery (4) overturns the hardbooted warriors and their long arced PJ swords of wrath shining a bright ray of hope in these dark and conflicted times. Directional ski-board design is held at bay by youthful freestyle freedom fighters. • Building, riding and refining, Lib Tech struggles against established concepts and performance limitations in a daily push towards the light of snowboard design freedom. Lib Tech’s experiMENTAL division takes shape...

(1)

• Steven Cobb and Lib Tech’s experiMENTAL division invent Magne-Traction (6) marking the beginning of snowboard-specific geometries and the revolutionary period. • Magne-Traction provides unprecedented edge hold and shifts edge pressure away from the tip and tail and focuses control to the longforgotten regions of board at and between a rider’s feet where balance is centered. Edges are rounded and control is maintained across the mountain. Snowboarding becomes easier and more fun. • Snowboarders across the world are beginning to see a brighter future. BOARD DESIGN HISTORY: ly pure snowboard design, free of mis-directed two plank harpoon engineering and pre-conceptions. Easier, more fun, limitless, all boards are banana, there is one for all! RIDE A BANANA BACK TO THE FUTURE! ERAS OF TRUE SNOWBOARD GEOMETRIES

AGE OF FRUITY ENLIGHTENMENT! (Balance, Control, Freedom, Sustainability)

• The Lib Tech experiMental division and Travis Rice rediscover full tip to tail rockers as the supreme powder specific floatation devices, the twin powder Banana Hammock hugs the nugs in both directions... In the quest to improve hardpack performance of these twin powder boards, the Lib Tech Experimental division realizes, cambered snowboards hate freedom. Divisional forces apply a shortened, between the inserts only rocker “banana technology”, to modern freestyle shapes and the all terrain quiver killing Skate Banana is born. (8) • Banana fever coincides with the rediscovery of beans as a magical fruit. Lib Tech employs new Bio-plastic top material made from beans. Plastics made from beans! This new age of bio-plastics offers hope of a less petroleum based, more peaceful and fruity future. • One board now rides all conditions from ice to powder in both directions from a centered freestyle stance. Snowboarding is easier and more fun for all (9). MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

BACK TO THE FUTURE!

(Magical Volcanic Organic Magne-Traction Bananas) • Banana Magne-Traction bliss and mis-designed rocker rip-offs. • Ride revolutionary traditional “rocker between your feet” Banana Tech, or use the forces of camber for good with C2 Banana Tech, the choice is yours. Half of Lib Tech’s pros ride Banana Tech, the other half choose C2 Power Banana “Camber-BananaCombo-Tech”... all are ripping and happy. • C2 Power Banana wins Olympic Halfpipe Gold. C2 Power Banana turns big-mountain terrain into a snowboard park like never seen before, winning the King of the Hill (11). C2 Power Banana beats all camber designs at the 2010 Mt. Baker Banked Slalom. • Volcanic snowboards are ridden down active volcanos! • The Future: ExperiMENTALLY rewritten again... Yes we did!

THE LIB TECH experiMENTAL DIVISION COMBATS THE EVIL FORCES OF DESIGN STAGNATIO Pete:

“It’s a tie! Everybody wins! Half our pros like C2 Power Banana, the other half choose original Banana Tech! I choose both, with sides of delicious Magne-Traction! Keep your banana between your legs and your camber curves placed proper. MagneTraction: Studs on ice!”

Mike:

”As I said last year, I’d like to say again: Can we cancel old fashioned camber? YES WE CAN! And now I have my favorite board ever, the Banana Magic, the best snowboard, skateboard, surfboard in the world. Loosen up your laces, fatten up that stance, and

tip a pin-line G-force heelside blueice 360 beyond a Eurocarver’s wildest fantasy. This is an ice skate for powder that loves a stroll through the park. And we eliminated all that old fashioned carbon, Kevlar, and fiberglass in our recipe to achieve this Magic. So grab your cordless electric ECO lawnmower and mow your neighbor’s lawns this year to save up the

$696.96 (cheap); you’ll need to experience your own Magic.”

EN & THE TECHNOR HELP OF BANANA TECH, MAGNE-MAN, KRAFTSM Cobb:

MOUS BROKNOWLOGISTS...

“The Banana-Tron, “snowboard pressure mapping” device I developed and installed in our experiMENTAL research lab allowed us to make a science out of where and how your weight is distributed from your feet through your snowboard, onto the riding surface. Our understanding of what makes a snowboard work and how to make subtle refinements is on a completely new level! This is a mind expanding, performance enhancing breakthrough for snowboarding and snowboard design nerds like me and my experiMENTAL friends. Feels like the kind of vortex of possibilities scientists felt, when high-speed computer processing abilities allowed the mapping of the human genome DNA.”

Hendo: “I always like to work on a tech stick for myself for the Banked Slalom & pushing it everywhere on the mountain & in the park at Stevens. This year I pretty much built myself the best board I have ever ridden. I was like: Damn C2 & MagneTraction blow my mind! Ripping!” Pos: “This last season was sick on the C2! Biping and cracking anything in sight and hearing all the positive feed back from people... how it helped them be a better rider in all snow conditions, or how it added ten more years of progression to their riding. Salute to all! “

Lib Tech’s all terrain freestyle snowboard specific geometries met with overwhelming success in 2010 board tests... Banana Tech -rocker between your feet- and Magne-Traction -strategically located serrated edges- are revolutionary departures from traditional ski based, one pressure point, camber snowboard designs... Both designs are premised on the fact that snowboarders ride with two feet on one board in a wide, stable freestyle stance... Magne-Traction improves edgehold, and Banana completely reworks the snowboard pressure

In 2006, the Lib Tech experiMENTAL Division led by Pete Saari introduced the revolutionary Skate Banana series featuring “Banana Technology”, rocker placed specifically between your feet, combined with flat-to-mild cambers running from the inserts to the traditional contacts. This new geometry ended 20 years of misapplied ski camber and was the most significant snowboard geometry performance enhancing breakthrough since Magne-Traction and deep sidecuts in the 80’s. Banana Tech reverses a snowboard’s “pressure map”. With Banana Tech your weight is shifted from your feet inward to the center of your board where balance is controlled. Some weight is still transfered to the tips and tails and full contact is maintained for control and stability but far less than is the case with tip-to-tail ski camber where the tips and tails are the focus of all weight distribution, making a board catchy and difficult to ride. This new “Banana Tech” snowboard specific pressure map makes turns easy to initate, is catch-free and forgiving, floats incredible in powder, and is unreal for jibbing and poppy freestyle fun. Magne-Traction serrated edges cut into the snow like a knife giving you more edge hold and control than ever before. Magne-Traction features 7 strategically located and sized bumps along each side of your sidecut. The Biggest bumps are at and between your feet where your balance is centered adding maximum control and power where you need it most. The bumps outside your feet are smaller and less aggressive providing tip and tail control but maintaining freestyle freedom. Magne-Traction is wiggles that work. Viva Technology.

MAGNE-TRACTION FREESTYLE ADVANTAGE:

Technormous Broknowlogist, Steven Cobb

One of the best things about Magne-Traction is that the extra edge hold you get allows you to ride your board de-tuned for the park and rails and still get great edge hold all over the mountain. Take a file and round your edges so they don’t hang up on the rails, boxes, or ledges. Then go ride everywhere!

The Dark Series features one of Lib Tech’s most incredible power freestyle constructions and geometries. 3 dimensional bamboo org throttles transfer control from your feet out to your edges and up to your tip and tails through end grain and longitudinal power transfer spines and internal sidewalls creating the world’s first organic torsion box. Incorporated into this organic torsion box are volcanic basalt fibers, a new ultralight Columbian Gold farmed eco wood core and BEANS bio polymer top materials. All this is combined into an aggressive twin freestyle shape and banana / camber combo C2 Banana Technology geometry. C2 offers the best of banana and camber combined: pop and end-to-end stability of camber at each end, combined with the float, catch-free ease and incredible carving of Banana Tech- rocker- between your feet. as always, nothing in the work is arbitrary. It all tells part of the story. This is the last painting I did at the Iguchi Family Studio in Jackson Hole, Summer of 2009, 48” x 60” acrylic, marker, pencil, and ballpoint on canvas. Keep your eyes open for the 2011/12 line, we will take a new approach and a new visual direction, well that’s if the human race still exists, don’t believe the hype. “ ~ Mike Parillo

Horsepower is going to give you a quicker, snappier ride that will increase response time from mind command to avatar execution. I also like to use HP as a step up where, for example, I can ride a ‘64 when freeriding and gain the additional surface area float and speed without losing out in spin weight and reaction time where I’d normally ride a 161.” ~Travis Rice

It has begun...

“I spent a solid three months this past winter kicking off production on the new Brain Farm Joint ‘Flight’, the follow up film to That’s It, That’s All. We embarked on another 2 year project that will be taking us around the globe in search of the best conditions Gaia has to offer. Dropping fall of 2011, the New film will highlight the efforts of some of the world’s best including Lib’s very own hype man Mark Landvik, whom I got to ride with most of the season, along with John Jackson, DCP, Scotty Lago, and Jake Blavelt to name a few. Brain Farm will be pulling out all the stops on this one with cutting edge cinematography, banger soundtrack, and an edit second to none. Be sure to keep your eyes out for the 1st teaser which will be landing on Brainfarmcinema.com in full HD come first of the new year. BLAMO-” ~T.Rice photos: Tim Zimmerman

Jamie Lynn designed his power banana for highspeed power freestyle in all terrain. A smooth open sidecut, Jamie’s own mellow version of MagneTraction for aggressive riders and firm flex make this board unbelievably solid and stable. Jamie’s riding style is full speed all the time, check turn as needed for safety and hit it. His board is designed to get you there in style and keep you on your feet when coming in hot trying to cash that check. Jamie does all his own art. A beautiful blue girl...

“For me snowboarding started with the foundation

of skateboarding. I was 11 or 12 years old and really into vert skateboarding. There was a vert ramp down in Auburn and we used to take our skateboards and wrap bmx intertubes around the trucks and over the top of our skateboards, and stick our feet in the intertube, and ride the vert ramp, and it was a way to be able to do airs without grabbing your skateboard. And then one day, one of the people that helped build this vert ramp, a guy named Paul Ferrel- long time Mervin associate- came back with a GNU Team Disco that he’d recently gotten from Mike Olson and Pete Saari. We stopped skating the vert ramp, came inside the living room, he laid this board down on the carpet, we all had a chance to strap into it, jump around on the couches, on the carpet, on the chairs... and I thought, if this is anything like how it feels to be able to skate with an intertube across the top of your deck, then it might be really fun. Paul Ferrel was the guy that took me up on the mountain and he kind of showed me the ropes. And, you know, that slowly progressed into our crew of friends that we grew up with in Auburn, a group of guys that drove around in an old Ford Grenada, ‘76 Ford Grenada, it was donated by Dylan Adam’s mom and there were five of us, it was me, Dylan, Apostolos, Demetrius, and Colter Gerber, you know we called ourselves the “Ford Grenada Hardcore” and those guys all had the talent and motivation to become, you know, true legends in skateboarding and snowboarding and they were a huge inspiration for me, following them off jumps cliffs, and following them into all kinds of trouble. There was nothing better for me as far as having fun in my life at that point in time. And that slowly progressed from doing contests in the NW Series, [to getting] sponsored by a shop called Northwest Snowboards [which] is owned by the Cummins Family- Matt and Temple- and through that shop sponsorship you got one free Lib Tech board a year, so that was the beginning of my relationship with Lib Technologies. And this was 87/88.”

“As far as my parents’ acceptance of what I was doing when I was younger... you know at first... they weren’t really into it. I got a lot of resistance from my father especially. ‘Cus all he saw was me coming home from nightskiing at midnight and then waking up late and being late for the first couple of periods of class in school in the morning. So at first he wasn’t really backing what I was into. And then as soon as the travel, the sponsorships, and the paychecks started coming in, his position on that changed pretty quick. And now he’s one of my biggest supporters.” “I get hit up all the time with people asking “where can I get a piece of Jamie Lynn artwork?”... I usually don’t sell original board graphic pieces. But recently Mike Parillo, Travis Rice, and I have started a thing called ASYMBOL and it’s producing limited edition prints of board graphic pieces [by] artists in the snowboard community and photographers in the snowboard and surf community, you know limited production prints, signed by the artist [available] in 3 different sizes. If you wanna check those out, go to: www. asymbol.com. There’s some really good pieces not only by myself, but artist like Nick Russian, Mike Parillo and then photographers like Trevor Graves. But if you get a chance, go online and check it out. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.” “Regarding subject matter... You know... I’m pretty fond of cats, and I’m pretty fond of the beauty of the woman’s form, there’s no real correlation between cats and the other meaning of that word. It’s just that cats make wonderful models. They sit around lazy all day, striking poses that are interesting for art compositions... and uh... if a girl has enough patience, she can do the same thing... by stripping down and striking a pose.” out our webisodes To see and hear more of Jamie Lynn, check

EURO BANANA BLASTERS... ”While Jakob was ripping in the Scandinavian parks with his smooth style, I finally had a chance to return to Alaska. It’s a dream of every rider, but for Czech snowboarders this dream is really far away, especially since our highest mountain is 4500 ft high. I feel very privileged, this was my 4th trip out here, but first one with Banana under my feet. I rented with friends RV in Anchorage and drove up to Tomsson Pass, heading for Tailgate festival, hoping for some fresh snow, Heli and sleds (actually Snowmachines in AK language). It became reality faster than I thought. Next day we woke up watching bluebird through the window, so I went straight to ABA office and asked for Heli. We flew right away and spent all day in the backcountry. I felt a bit nervous after few years without riding such steep faces, but it went all so natural and easy. I rode 159 BTX and the board was just perfect and I totally forgot about the time. I just wanted more...I woke up in the evening when I saw my bill, but I did not regret, just drank a few beers to celebrate the best snowboarding moments you can find on this planet. The weather moved and started snowing, so we went down to famous town Valdez. I guess it was off season or so. Meeting zero girls on the sausage fest in Local pub did not surprise me, but ordering “gold miners plate” in local restaurant was a serious mistake. Smallest piece of old salmon for 20$ was serious rip off. No wonder why all gold miners left years ago, so I filled the RV with Gas, Beer and food and left back to snow dream. Few more days with “snowmachines and heli” after fresh snowfall was the best riding this season. It is hard to describe all the feelings on the paper, but Heliboarding is serious drug - more you fly, more you want..2 weeks time passed by and the last night party was on the list. Our filmer was so stoked on the local magic pastry and fell asleep on snow, while filming a bonfire party. Someone took his cam and did some nice footage of him performing new way of climbing called “Horizontal”. Next day morning he was trying to find his camera bag, which he forgot open on some white truck that night. Truck was gone and our memories also. After hour of investigation, he found his gear in the kitchen of the local restaurant. We could not believe it. Big up to AK people and hope to see you all again!“ ~ Martin Cernik Jakob Wilhelmson

“The weather played in our favor for a good portion of this trip, but down days are inevitable in Alaska. While many amenities are hard to come by in the last frontier, there is no shortage of drink. When Sullivan and his guitar took over the microphone from the DJ at the local bar after our third day under clouds, everyone went all in. At one point I walked outside to see Volcom filmer Jake Price, Lucas Debari and a few other blurred faces crammed into a cops SUV taking pictures of each other, a lady cop holding the door open, trying to persuade them back into the bar. There were so lost in the bottle that she didn’t even want to deal with them. Jake ended up leaving his video camera on the floor of the cops rig, some incriminating footage to say the least. I left before things got too out of control for comfort. A local tundra wookie ended up shitting herself, then stripping off all her clothes in the bar, shit drawers and all. Sullivan has the detailed account of that highlight. She was gnarly with clothes on, so I was stoked to have escaped when I did. I have a sensitive stomach, you know? Blair on Haines, AK.

“It’s mellow banana, mellow Mag and uh it’s a Box Scratcher but bigger, I need a little more board ‘cuz jibbing for me has been changing so much... I jib everything, you know, you ride down the mountain you’re gonna jib snow, logs, rails, air. You know, when you go off a jump and you do a front board mid air? It’s a little hard to oppo out though... It’s a point of pride for me... you know, that’s some serious bucket list material there... My name on a Lib Tech board... I could’ve pretty much evaporated at that point and been happy. The day I got my first board, I just sat in the kitchen and Christina, who’s my wife, who designed the graphic and we just sat with it and she filmed me holding it and looking at it... it was like... [Zimmerman: Rollin’ !] Nate

Nate: Alright... Jason Robinson... aka JRob...

what’s up man, how are you doing today? JRob: I’m doing very well today, thank you Nate. JRob Nate: Yea... no problem, man... that’s good to hear. Uhm... so uh... Jason, you ride Lib Tech boards and from the looks of it, they seem to be working out for ya... JRob: Yea, they work out very well. I love those Lib Tech snowboards for sure. Which model do you ride? My favorite is the Skate Banana, I ride a 156 normally, and uh, other than that the Box Scratcher when I’m trying to get a little more technical, and a little more jibby... Getting a little jibby with it..., that was a Will Smith song, I think. I believe so [laughs] There’s no curses in that song though, ‘cus Will Smith keeps it clean. Now... do you like to keep it straight up Banana or do you ever dabble with C2, the Power Banana? I do a little bit of both for sure. You know, it’s hard to just choose one. Yea, do you prefer riding a certain kind for a certain terrain? Is one better than the other in a different situation?

I’d say the regular banana is probably better for everyone as far as beginner to expert for jibbing, for boardin’ the mountain. And the C2, I think, it’s a little more for a little more aggressive riding. So when you’re going a little bigger, a little faster and... well yea... they are both awesome. So you’re telling me that you gotta be a real man to handle a C2 Power Banana? Yea, they don’t call it Power Banana for nothin’. Now do you feel that the Power Banana increases your stamina? Does it ride a little bit bigger than it looks? Does it uh... Bigger, harder and faster Nate. Ohhha...! You are gettin’ me going... [laughing] Alright... so... JRob, break it down for me, you did a lot of stuff this year. I saw you up at Baker, you were racing, you were fast... what else do you got going on this year? Yea, I did quite a bit this season. Uh... filmed with Think Thank, so I got a full part coming out in their video “Right Brain, Left Brain” and then just kinda did a little soul boarding here and there... and... had a pretty good season... Gotta ease that soul man... [deep voice] gotta keep it soulful, baby! You know what I’m saying... So, Think Thank, that’s pretty sick... Burtner... how uh... is it having him for a boss? Calling the shots when it comes to your video part... does he make you do wild shit? Or did he let you just go have your own program? Yea it’s a good scene, he kind of totally supports you getting on your own program, I mean whatever you wanna do, if you wanna ride pow or ride tires whatever, it’s all good.

He’s a pretty cool guy, I wouldn’t imagine it be too much of a high stressed environment with him around... Yea, low pressure but real supportive, good stoke. Yea, good movies for sure, that’s gonna be awesome I can’t wait to see that, because I like those movies. I think everybody does. They really bring out the fun-ness. Can’t wait to get psyched from watching you ride, JRob. So where are you from originally and what do you call home? I’m from Montana, Whitefish Montana but I’ve been living in Truckee now for a couple of years. Truckee, California. Nice! That’s awesome... Montana... so you’ve been in the mountains, you’ve been riding pow your whole life. Oh yea for sure, I grew up riding pow, didn’t really dabble into too much of the park or freestyle until probably my first trip I came out to California and got a glimpse of that whole side of it. That’s the way it was for me, too! I didn’t know jumps were supposed to have landings... I was like “oh what’s that ‘down’ part? That’s cool!”... So uh...you were up at Baker this year. Did you go fast at that contest? As fast as I could, I tell you what... Yea why don’t you tell us all how your legs felt after those runs. Phew! I could barely even feel ‘em. I didn’t even think they were there. What legs? Yea, exactly. I couldn’t even, you know... I was lucky that I could still feel my wiener when I went to the bathroom later, because from the waist down personally I was numb, I don’t know about you, but that stuff... Pretty numbing... It was preeety gnarly. So uh, you live in Tahoe, filming with Think Thank, riding the Skate Banana... you ride a Skate Banana, do you skate in the summer time? I do... Yea? You know, nothing too spectacular by any means but... Really? ‘Cuz I tail flip down 13 what do you got? That’s sick. I walk up ‘em with my skate in my hand... Damn right! ...and slap you five. Alright, so Jason, how long have you been a sponsored professional snowboarder for? Well, I got my first sponsor pretty young, Ignition Snowboards, I was like 12, I’m 25 now, so that’s like 20, uh, haha, 12 years, 13 years! That’s great. And you know, watching you ride you can tell that you’re enjoying it and you feel like you’ve made good life decisions. Thank you. Sometimes when I ride... you say, wow Nate, frontside three, looked like Nate was a bit bummed out. It’s because I made some poor life decisions a few years ago. I’m trying really hard to remedy those now. Would you like to elaborate on any of those poor decisions? Well, you know... Advise me... give me some advice. Well, let me tell you something... if you get a lap dance and a stripper starts making out with you as much as you wanna go with it... don’t. They are not actually allowed to do that. And when you get in trouble with the bouncer, they don’t yell at the girl, they just yell at you and dental surgery is very expensive. Also, if your friend tells you that he’s gonna be right back, he just wants to rip a hood ornament off a Mercedes, don’t wait for him. It’s a bad idea. Uhm... lets see... some other things.... don’t throw rocks at Hippies’ houses, they are not as peaceful as you might think. Uhm... glass beer steins do not break over your head, believe it or not, so don’t try that. That was a fun three weeks... recovery, uhm, but I can tell that’s never happened to you. Good job. Just keep it up. Let’s see, what else... Zach: You wanna talk about film projects... ? Nate: Yes! Film projects! JRob: So he hit you over the head with a didgeridoo? Nate: Yea... nah, I got hit in the head with a glass beer stein.... in the summer... So we dressed up as Motley Crue... Mervin has been building snowboards every day for over 25 years. From the beginning, we have always been a very environmentally-aware snowboard company. Nearly Canadian snowboard Kraftsmen need healthy work environments, so they can achieve maximum shred. Mike Olson and Norm Nelson head up our environMENTAL division. It is their passion to stay on the front lines with our green efforts: • We use non-petroleum based bio-plastics made from castor beans - beans are a magical fruit! • We don’t use any cancer-causing toxic automotive lacquer clearcoats. Cancer can result in death! You don’t have to support companies that use toxic printing systems. • We use soy-based elastomer sidewalls instead of toxic abs. • We use only renewable forest products for our cores. Fast growing trees have long fibers and natural pop. Wood is nature’s fiberglass! • We use only low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) epoxy resin systems. Our resin doesn’t stink or make you dizzy. • Our basalt fiber is additive-free and less toxic than

conventional fiberglass. • We use water-cleansed grinding systems to minimize airborne particulate levels. • Our factory has 2700% air replacement ventilation systems. • Our wood sawdust is recycled as a soil additive, and we donate our scrap wood to a local Mood Wood company that packages it as kindling and resells it. • We recycle all our scrap plastics (base cutouts, etc.), which are then used to make new materials, keeping over seven tons of plastic out of the landfill per month.• We use water-based solvents (instead of petrochemical-based solvents) for cleaning. • Our factory heating runs on canola-based biodiesel... A renewable resource. • Each kraftsman is supplied with a comfort mask and blue rubber gloves, safety glasses are mandatory. • Pets are encouraged to stay out of the grinding areas.

ECO-SUB PRINTING!

WE USE FAST GROWING FARMED ECO WOOD CORES!

WE RECYCLE ALL OUR WOOD! 2) 1) Mervin uses an environmentally friendly water-based ink sublimation graphics system to print all our snowboard graphics! (As opposed to the majority of the snowboard industry, which uses toxic solvent-based silkscreen inks with thick solventbased gloss curtain coats on top... the process of building boards that way is very toxic for both the environment and people working in the factory, and because of the toxic inks, other companies’ scrap plastics are not recyclable.)

FINGER JOINING!

SIZE DOESN’T MATTER! Mervin does not waste odd sized wood. Using our finger joiner, Mervin is able to use normally unusable “cutoff end” wood core pieces. The wood is actually stronger at the joint than regular wood. The result is almost no wood is wasted and the boards are stronger and have more pop.

Norm Nelson (1), head of Mervin’s environMENTAL division, grabs a handful of good wood dust that is being collected so it can be recycled as a soil additive. Mervin’s wood dust at a soil and compost operation right next door to Mervin. (2)

WE RECYCLE ALL PLASTIC, PAPER & CARDBOARD! All our scrap base material, paper & cardboard gets collected to get recycled properly.

re-use or recycle!

LIB TECH BIO DIESEL!

and...

In our finishing dept., we use watercleansed grinding systems to minimize airborne particulate levels.

Lib Tech’s biodiesel heats our factory & fills up many employees’ cars as well as locals from our community.

We have our own baler! It bales top tape, cardboard, base plastics, steel, etc...

Mike Olson showing off a bean top sheet on the Banana Magic

DROP BEANS NOT BOMBS! Lib Tech’s ExperiMENTAL division leader Mike Olson loves beans! When he’s not eating them he’s buying plastics made from them. Lib Tech has made a commitment to using a new earth friendly, bio-plastic top skin made from beans that features the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any top sheet in the industry. While there is clearly still the need to invade small, helpless, oil producing countries for money and power, this new age of bioplastics offers hope of a more peaceful and fruity future!

Crispin and the woodshop crew know Good Wood long before Transworld does. Wood is nature’s fiberglass and the heart of every snowboard giving: life, pop, strength, power and a smooth ride. Wood cores are so important, we make them ourselves right at the factory so we can control every aspect: the farmed renewable eco woods selected, the glue used, all specs, thicknesses and profiles. You can’t see this when you look at a Lib Tech, but you can feel it when you ride it. Core control gives you board control. We are a green company!
