Restorative Garden Work Step Two: Plant Seeds of Virtue Virtue, morality and religion. This is the armor, my friend, and this alone renders us invincible. These are the tactics we should study. If we lose these, we are conquered, fallen indeed.... – Patrick Henry

The only foundation of a free Constitution, is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People, in a greater Measure than they have it now, they may change their Rulers, and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. – John Adams

If you want to grow a cantaloupe, you have to plant a cantaloupe seed. If you want to grow a zucchini, you first have to plant a zucchini seed. Neither the cantaloupe nor the zucchini will one day magically appear in the garden where a seed has not first been planted. You also can’t plant a zucchini seed and expect a cantaloupe to grow. It’s the law of the harvest. We reap what we sow. While not every seed that is planted will sprout, it is guaranteed that you will never get fruit from a seed that is never planted. We hear many voices today crying out for smaller government and getting back to the Constitution, yet we hear little of the other side of the equation that demands that we be a people who are capable of living under a limited government. 159
