It is with pleasure that we “Welcome” you to the Town of Liberty. Located near the geographic center of the state, Liberty is within easy driving distance of beaches both in North and South Carolina and the Blue Ridge and Uwharrie Mountains. Liberty is also within easy reach of all the attractions in Randolph County. The North Carolina Zoo at 2,200 acres is the largest zoo geographically in the world, the Richard Petty Museum & Historic Site, Goat Lady Dairy, and Seagrove Potteries, just to mention a few.

Liberty is still small-town living at its best…close enough to larger cities to have access to great amenities, but small enough to escape traffic congestion.

The town supports a fine public library and an activities center for senior citizens.

The town sponsors a summer recreation program and maintains parks with tennis courts, ball fields and picnic areas. Scout troops are active, as are several civic and fraternal organizations. A newly built Farmers Market is a center of activity during the spring and summer.

The Piedmont Triad International Airport, serving the Greensboro, High Point and Winston Salem area, is 35 minutes away and two private airports are just outside town.

No matter if you are just passing through or looking for a unique shopping experience, our citizens welcome you with a warm, generous spirit and down home southern hospitality.

Liberty was first laid out in 1809, and chartered in 1889. A residential section and the downtown area are part of the National Register for Historic Places. Downtown is particularly rich in history and architecture, from its historic movie theater to early restaurants and businesses. The Patterson Cottage, near the library, was built in 1884 for the parents of Dr. Armstead Patterson.

It’s been moved from its original location, but remains one of the oldest buildings in town. It houses the history museum, which consists of materials donated by town families, and speaks to the rich history of industry, agriculture, education, and commerce in the past and present.

The Patterson Cottage is open from May through October on the third Saturday and also by appointment.

The Liberty Antiques Festival draws antique dealers and buyers from all over the Southeast. Other entertainment and events include the Liberty Showcase which features music shows with Grand Ole Opry Stars and local Bands and Guests. The Chamber of Commerce sponsors a 3rd Thursday Music at the Gazebo, the annual Liberty Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting and July Celebration.

Liberty Association of Churches sponsors an annual Community Easter Event which also draws kids and visitors from all over the area.
