Libby Page "Transitions" 2017 Exhibition Catalogue

Page 1

Hello and welcome to the next body of work by Libby Page. It has been quite a year for Libby who has moved from the sunny south of France to the cooler climes of Berlin. This TRANSITION has at times felt as brutal as the difficult phase reflected in the life of the Canal du Midi, about which Libby is still passionate. Yet, as always, there are messages of hope and regeneration within her work. While continuing to tell the story of the trees along the Canal, this year Libby also painted other French landscapes and we see she has begun to explore the beautiful forests that surround Berlin. Good News! Libby has teamed up this year with “Replantons Le Canal du Midi” the VNF group committed to replanting the trees along the canal. Together they have created a 2018 wall hanging calendar and sales will help raise funds for the new trees. More info. below.

Back to the canal, this time near Toulouse. Libby’s last, littlest but not least, painting in this year’s show is an homage to ‘Pastel’ the deep blue dye made from the little yellow flowers that grow all around Toulouse and upon which this city built it’s fortunes in the 13th-15th centuries. page 8

In addition to the new paintings, we are pleased to present a series of limited edition reproductions of earlier works. The prints below are printed onto acid free watercolour paper, 300gms. The edition is limited to 20 and each print is individually titled, numbered and signed by the artist.

LAUNCHING… Libby Page cushions!! Already a huge success, Libby has added three new designs to her range of cushions. The latest designs are a step back in time to her very first exhibition here in Azille. Each cushion measures 40 x 40cm, comes filled, with a zip to easily remove the washable, lined, vegan suede cover.

FAQ: What on earth is vegan suede? A: Vegan Suede is the vegan alternative to the soft, premium-priced leather product. It is made from microfibre so just as gentle to the touch as real suede and better still, it is animal friendly.

Don’t Forget… for every calendar sold this year, Libby will donate 5% to the replantation project.

We would love to see you at the show, opening 28th October and running until 6th December. However, if you can’t make it, shipping is also no problem. Contact Angela Saunders at inspireazille@gmail.com.

Libby Page - Biography Following in the footsteps of Fauve painters and contemporary artists such as Peter Doig and David Hockney, this UK trained artist pushes at the boundaries of landscape painting, enveloping the viewer in the beauty of nature with her large, bright canvases. Trained originally as a sculptor, Libby particularly enjoys the strong architectural rhythm of trees and playing with any given perspective. Working with these compositional elements and her preferred bold palette, the artist invites us to take a fresh look at nature. Despite changing landscapes as trees are felled and climate changes, Libby Page continues to make work full of hope and life.
