senior sendoffs

emily kehner/staff

Seniors, Last week I received an email from one of your classmates asking me to write a “send off” to the class of 2010. I enthusiastically replied “sure!” (Of course I did… at that time I was under the impression that a “send off” was a one or two line good bye statement!) When I realized I had agreed to write a 500-600 word letter, my eagerness turned to fear! What? Me? A BIOLOGY teacher writing an essay to seniors who have just spent the last year writing college application essays worthy of publication??? (And it certainly didn’t help to know that there would be another send off letter written by an ENGLISH teacher in the same Laureate issue!) I panicked!

Hey Seniors:

I have some good news and some bad news for you. So I’ll give you the good news first… You did it! You conquered senioritis, that insidious disease that rises up in the fall of your 17th or 18th year and is miraculously cured by a little ceremony called graduation. You will never again fight this dread disease; in fact, during your senior year of college you will begin battling the disorder called “Real World Phobia” in which you try at all costs to stay in school as long as possible so you can steer clear of the real world. But despite the fact that senioritis has made some of you become

“NO,” I thought. “Not me!” As I tried to come up with a way to get out of it, I suddenly recognized that it was an honor to be invited to do this. Here I was, being asked to write to the most important people in the world during one of the most important times in their lives – High School Graduation!!!! I decided to embrace the task! After an excruciating evening of Googling “high + school + graduation + thoughts”, I gave up searching for something new and went back to my old, standard, never fail advice: live happy lives. Now I know what you’re thinking… “Oh, here she goes again! Didn’t she talk about happy to the seniors last year? Good grief! It’s like she’s a walking icon for happy!!!! Enough, already! Nobody can be as happy as she is!” Before you put the paper down

though, keep reading. I’ll explain my “happy”. Booker T. Washington said he learned that the only way you can be truly happy is to seek to do good for others. I think back to my own life. You seniors often accused me of being “too happy”… especially when I passed back those AP Biology tests! I have to agree that I’m “uber” happy most of the time. But when I feel truly joyous is when I am doing something for someone else. Henry Drummond is quoted as saying, “You will find, as you look back upon your life, that the moments that stand out are the moments when you have done things for others.” I absolutely agree. As I have gotten older, I realize I embrace opportunities that allow

people that neither you nor your parents recognized this past year, you fought the disease successfully and will become graduates of Lassiter High School in just a few days. So the good news is that you made it… Now for the bad news… All of this success means nothing now. You have graduated from high school, but in reality what you’ve just accomplished has only prepared you for what is ahead of you. In reality, graduation marks a new beginning, a clean slate. You begin now writing your life’s story. Someday when you put your resume together, your high school experience will not even be mentioned. As impossible as it seems now, not one of these

accomplishments that seem so noteworthy will find a spot on your resume. Depressed now?Wondering why they asked this lady to write an article anyway? OK, here’s the bright side. While most of you will look back on high school with fond (or maybe not so fond) memories, your life really begins now.You have a chance for a fresh start. Take it and make the most of it. Travel the path that brings you fulfillment, and believe it or not, that doesn’t necessarily mean making lots of money. Celebrate graduation as your new beginning.

-Ms. Nelsen (AP Psych)

me to make someone else’s life a little happier. You cannot imagine the happiness I feel when I lead therapy horses around a riding ring and see smiles on the faces of the disabled riders. While they are on the horses, their disabilities seem to disappear! For a few years, I have driven a van full of excited puppies and pet therapy facilitators from the Atlanta Humane Society to a nursing home. Residents are always at the door in their wheelchairs waiting for a chance to talk to us and hold one of the darling little balls of fur. There has not been one single time I have left that nursing home without a song in my heart! Georgia Tech even realizes the power of helping others. Their College of Computing has designed a course called “Computing for Good” or “C4G”. The course applies computing ideas to societal problems. Students have designed projects ranging from helping homeless shelters in Atlanta to monitoring blood supplies in African nations. You can bet the students involved were quite aware of the happiness that resulted from those projects. So, at a time when you are feeling extremely joyful (I think high school graduation is always one of the happiest days we experience), remember to continue that happiness throughout your lives by contributing to the happiness of others. Honestly, there is nothing like it!

3 Dear Seniors:

I know that May 22 can’t come quickly enough for a lot of you, but I hope you’ll take a second to reflect. Many of you know that I am a big fan of having a quote on the board, and usually I have a fresh one each day. But, oddly enough, it’s hard to think of new quotes at this time of the year because the same line of poetry gets stuck in my head every May: “And at my back I always hear/Time’s winged chariot hurrying near” (Andrew Marvell). Right

emily kehner/staff

now most of you are poised to rush forth into your future, you’re excited, you can’t wait to settle into your new dorm room or apartment; you’re ready to rush out of Lassiter with not much of a look back, but wait!! I have more to tell you, there is still so much more to learn before you leave! I have given a great deal of thought to the lessons I have left to cover, and I think I can be satisfied if I can just teach you two more things. The first one is pretty simple, please, please, please THINK FOR YOURSELF! I know this may sound harsh, but realize that in life pretty much everyone (I mean everyone… your roommate, your new school, your professors) is trying to sell you something. It’s up to you to decide what you’ll buy. You katie zion/staff

should never fail to consider the outcome of your choices! Honestly, some things really just don’t matter (turkey or ham on that sandwich), but many choices really do (to go to class, not to go to class). Just remember that all your choices have ramifications, and you need to make sure yours are sound. I know you were trained early on to do what you are told, but now that you’re venturing off into the world alone (well, with 446 of your closest friends) it’s time to start to seriously question things. Does your new “best friend” have your best interest in mind when he suggests playing video games all night the night before your Econ midterm? I think not… What I’m saying is THINK FOR YOURSELF! You’ve got the brains for it, USE THEM! Seriously, I mean it – THINK! Okay, the final lesson, and it’s pretty simple, too -- you are about to be more independent than you have ever been in your life, make the most of it, in a good way! Now is the time to show your altruism – GET INVOLVED – find something that matters to you

and go for it! Some of you may doubt it, but one person really can make a difference. Maybe you collect money for cancer research, maybe you help build houses for Habitat, maybe you help your campus go Green, maybe you help tutor kids – the options are endless! Honestly, the only limits are the things your brain can conjure up. So what if you were not involved at Lassiter, this is a NEW BEGINNING for ALL of you, be the person you want to be. Every year freshmen the world over are given that same piece of advice: Get Involved – it’s probably one of the best pieces of advice out there, so hopefully you’ll be one of the ones to take it! Well, I guess this will have to be the end of my teachings for the Class of 2010. It has been my sincere pleasure to get to know you guys – I know you will make all of us proud to have been your teachers and your school.

the incumbent requires a bit of courage or foolhardiness – take your pick. Remember that if you are the challenger, and the incumbent loses, you become the new incumbent. Hmmm… Answer the question that is asked. Will economics trump ideology for you? It may not be economics. What outside forces would cause you to reflect on altering your perspective or convictions? Will it be a job or money or living in a different location? Will it be love or hate? Or, will it be apathy? Dogmatic adherence to belief without question and acceptance of the status quo without wondering about the options are almost as stupefying as the apathy. Answer the question that is asked. Why were the police called to the daycare center? The answer is “b” - because the two year old was resisting a rest. Will

you remember to laugh each day? My sincere thank you to all the seniors I had the opportunity to meet this year – you gave me so much.

I will miss you -

Ms.Morgan (AP Lang)

To the Seniors: Answer the question that is asked. Answer the question that is asked. I was asked to pen a senior send off - to talk about this year or the next one or maybe even the last four. Having had fewer than half of this year’s seniors in class, some of what follows may not resonate with you.Take from it what you will. And, since pearls of wisdom are not necessarily my bailiwick, I thought I would pose a question or two instead; only you can answer them. I merely offer some of my own thoughts. Answer the question that is asked. Will you forge ahead or stay behind? I grew up in a very small town and many of us could not wait to “get out”. We looked at those who chose, for any number of reasons, to stay as limited in their vision. Some were. Many were not because they knew that it did not matter whether one lived in Manhattan or in Bethel

that would determine personal and intellectual growth. No, it would most typically be the opportunities sought, the brass ring reached for regardless of the geographic location. By the time I “fled” Bethel, the town had already added a second flashing traffic light. Answer the question that is asked. Will you be the incumbent or will you be the challenger? Will the playing field be business, education, medicine, public service? Each of the positions is weighty with responsibility. To secure and hold tight to the incumbent’s rank requires a willingness to review stances regularly for accountability. The requirement includes admitting errors, and most importantly, doing what is necessary to attempt to rectify those issues. Betraying the trust that has been placed in the incumbent may render them open to challenge and deciding to take on

senior sendoffs

The future belongs to those that believe in the beauty of their dreams.

–Eleanor Roosevelt

Saying Goodbye: Clark Franzman

Hahaha ohhh high school. It has been an interesting 4 years. I came into this school a slightly overweight, short, white 14 year old with aspirations of varsity basketball. I am leaving this school a slightly overweight, short, white 18 year old who hates basketball players. I have had some crazy experiences in these four years. Like the time where me and Coach Cagle saved that class of 2nd graders from a dynamite filled raptor. Or when I crawled through the ceiling to escape out of a bathroom I locked myself in (which one of those stories is true?). Ohhhh

good times. But that’s all over now. That’s all over because high school is all over! I mean completely done! No summer reading, no nothing. But you know what graduation time means? It means girls crying, friends talking about the future, more crying emotional girls, and that stupid Vitamin C song (she must make so much money this time of year). If I hear that song one more time I am going to drop kick a nun into a spike pit. This is not a time to be sad. It is a time to look back on the good times you have had over these past four years and look forward to the

good times you will be having soon. I mean we are all about to move out of our house and be living on our own. That’s so freakin’ crazy to me! That means I can…leave dishes out on the counter, or leave clothes on the floor, or not flush after every time I pee. This freedom is gonna be like the day you got your license times at least 7. So I do want to thank everyone for making these past 4 years awesome, and cannot wait to see how the next four years turn out. After that it is on to a life of debt and unsatisfying jobs, so enjoy yourselves. Also, Stefani Robinson.

Advice from the Salutatorian: Kevin Ankerholz Every second is the beginning of the rest of your life. Each passing moment affords you the opportunity for a new beginning, a new chance to define who you are, what you stand for, and what you hope to accomplish in your life. For the 464 members of the class of 2010, May 22nd signals a unique beginning, a beginning that will define the rest of our lives. After the completion of the graduation ceremony, we will be high school graduates, eager to go on to bigger and better things. For some of us, this means matriculation into college, for others, this means entrance into the workforce, and for all of us, this means no more shouts of “GO TROJANS” by Principal Shaw each and every morning. As you look forward to a future of limitless possibilities, take some time to reflect upon how you’ve gotten to this point. Don’t forget all the hard work you’ve put in, all of the sacrifices you’ve made, and all of the trials and tribulations you’ve endured, because you will certainly use these experiences as you venture out on your own. Savor the memories of the 2009 football region championship, our third consecutive girls’ state swimming championship, the accomplishments of our music and fine arts programs, and the numerous other successes we’ve had as a class. Cherish these priceless experiences, as you will hold onto them for the rest of your lives. Over the next several months, we face the prospect of leaving the warmth of our homes, the immediate support of our families, and the friendly confines of East Cobb. While this thought is exhil-

arating, the reality of leaving everything we have ever known is rather daunting. For each of us, the adjustment to this ultimate freedom will be the most difficult yet most exciting time of our young lives. The opportunity to make new friends, interact with diverse people, and expand our minds will change both our lives and perspectives forever. As each of you search for your identity and place in this world, don’t settle for mediocrity. Challenge yourself by setting high expectations, and don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Michael Jordan once remarked, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” so take a half –court shot, throw a hail mary pass, and you might find success beyond your wildest dreams. But even if your shot misses, know that you are a better person for taking that chance, because it is better to try and fail than to never have tried at all. And after each of your failures, a moment will pass, and you will have another new beginning: That’s the beauty of being young. We have time to fail, time to grow, and time to map out the rest of our lives. Each of us will have setbacks, and each of us will enjoy success. Each of us will find reasons to laugh, reasons to cry, and reasons to celebrate. And after each of these experiences, a new beginning will always follow. With that in mind, enjoy every second of your life; after all, you only get to live it once. Pursue your passions, but don’t fixate yourself on future aspirations, as you will miss out on the fun of the adventure. Live in the moment, because happiness is a journey, not a destination. My name is Kevin Ankerholz. I am

a son, a brother, a friend, an athlete, and a student, but most importantly, I am a Lassiter Trojan.Whether we are the best of friends or just classmates, we will always share the common bond of being Trojans. Let me be one the first to congratulate each of you on your accomplishments, and I officially proclaim May 22nd to be the new beginning of the rest of our lives. In the words of Principal Shaw, GO TROJANS!

of friends that luckily put up me. They I, , being of all were the greatest bunch of friends sound mind and body, do hereby be- to joke around with at Wendy’s. Nevqueath that I literally had the time of er in my life could I explain the fear my life. Every memory that comes in the brutal Sandwich Punch game, from within the walls of Lassiter High or the agitation of Marty starting “Put School will follow me for years to your hands up Sean” repeated a milcome on travels through life. From the lion times after our free trips to Six good to the terrible, these moments Flags. Nothing can take away the good are what made me into the man I am times that I had with these guys, or today. Especially Pokémon. I am one girls! So scared of girls! I’ll never forhundred percent certain that I’ll be get all the cheesy pick up lines or the playing Pokémon into my late forties, only girl I dated, technically it was two and I’m forever thankful that I found a but it doesn’t really count if it lasts only gang that is willing to actually have in five days…. I’ll never forget the tough depth discussions on its subject mat- decisions I had to make, mainly dealter. Following along those lines, I liter- ing with marching band. I had two of ally couldn’t have found a better group the greatest amigos in that fiesta, full

of movie nights and just plain craziness, but life pushed me in another direction intent on running. I’ll never forget my running brothers Tyler and Nic who kept me strong during the most running filled year of my life, and my best buddy Marianna who let me get away with her car haha. I’ll never forget that late night work sessions where I busted out homework till sunrise, because I was so busy catching up on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, or trying to figure out what in the heck is going on in “Lost”. In the end the class work didn’t seem as important as the incredible people I met. Such as my Advisement full of great people like the finger-jousting Will + Clark, to my

good buddies Ben, Paul, and Robby, to the awsomeriffic Lila “Farhino” who was my little hippy bro accompanying me to prom twice (C-c-combo!!!), and even to Mrs. Cook…who shot me down when I publically asked her to prom…And Zach + Jackson. In the end, I had the most stress free life, as the wise Van Wilder would say “Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere”. Every day I strode into school flashing my neon shoes or rocking my thing 1 + thing 2’s, giving a little awkward dance, or giggling like an idiot knowing I didn’t care what others thought, and I had the time of my life.

I,Catherine Groundwater, being of sound mind and body, do hereby bequeath my possessions unto the following advantageous allies: To Hanna, I entrust you with every note we’ve ever passed since the eighth grade, as well as our botched, unedited music videos, movie scripts, Grandpa Groundwater’s newspaper collection, my beloved fish, my ridiculous accumulation of perfume, and every known box of zebra cakes, crunch dark sticks, and “Johnny Foxtrot” supplies that

make their way into my house. To Lila, I hand you every captivating book we’ve drooled over in Borders, my computer (so you can finally watch dramas again!), my Keurig coffee maker, a lifetime supply of tikka masala, and Nüni, whom I know you will treat with upmost respect. I entrust to Marianna the darling Mishka, as well as my electric stand mixer (for flour explosions), my Disney movie collection, our tiedyed shirts, and any of my dresses that are not yet missing buttons. To Kristin

and Caroline I bestow joint custody of Patty, who would not be living in this world if it were not for you. Also, feel free to share my endless supply of Entenmann’s donuts and cookies in the refrigerator, which we have all come to enjoy. I bestow unto David Tran my ps2, along with Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X, as well as the notorious Sega Dreamcast, Sonic Adventure game, my iTunes library, and the giant Pikachu which I have yet to repair. To Hannah, I give back your coloring book which I

have taken hostage these many weeks, as well as my silly band collection and hair straightener, since your hair styling talent as always far surpassed my own. You are all awesome, strong, and beautiful people. These past years have been incredible and I couldn’t ask for better friends. I can’t wait to see where our friendships take us! Congratulations- we finally made it!

And I bled. you. I’ll give my awesome boots to Rachel, but only after I’m dead and I’ll give all of my manga (the ones in English at least) to A-club where they can be truly appreciated. Orchestra, with the joys of being a senior in string ensemble, was fabulous thanks to everybody in the class. My one theatrical production at Lassiter, Grease, was nerve wracking enough without being in cast or crew. “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s what you do with your danc-

ing shoes!” is a line I hope to never have to hear again. Spring break could not have come soon enough (can anybody say awkward turtle?) and winter break, with my host family, was heavenly despite the subzero temperatures. To all of the moms and to Mrs. Seiser in the front office I wish y’all a fantastic summer. Even though most kids, to get away from their parents during college go to out of state schools while I, myself, am going out of the country, I will

still miss the bipolar Georgia weather. It just adds that little bit of excitement to every day. To all the graduating seniors, good luck where ever you go and hopefully you’ll fulfill your dreams! To Shane and his beauty school dropout outfit…just wow. And, last but not least, to my family who is only staying here for me to graduate, congratulations! You can now move! Sayonara.

the descending slope of my senior year and I am filled with joy but sadness. I will tell you lower class men one thing, people tend to lie when they say senior year is the easiest. Nevertheless, this was the year I can honestly say I found myself and was able to start being myself. I also found my close group of friend who have so many insides jokes with like Austin Brafford, Adam Lawrence, Megan Malarcher, oh and Brian! Austin Brafford is my best friend out all of all those people, just saying! This is because of our sleepover-esque chats over facebook, rambling off like old ladies, particularly over Lit.! Oh, and I absolutely must mention a few more people. Leslie Toston, aka Twitchy,

I think I have had some of the best teachers here at Lassiter and I hope you guys keep on with what you are doing! “The Men Who Stare At Goats” for you, too, because I never want to see it again. I also leave with you unlimited amounts of Rita’s, gyros, and Einstein’s bagels (with shmear and apple juice, of course!) To team: It’s safe to say this past season my teachers: Without you my success has been the most fun (and most suc- as a student would have been imposcessful) year we’ve ever had at Las- sible. Mr. Rinehimer, Coach Rustay, Mrs. siter! I can’t believe we’ve made it all Linner Thank you for always putting this way! For those of you who were, up with me and being patient when I or are now freshmen, it has been so needed extra help in the morning Mrs. enjoyable watching you grow both Mclaughlin and Mrs. Campos: Merci

pour le conseil que vous me donniez dans les annees passé. Je ne peux pas attendre pour L’Universite De Georgie ou je vais etudier plus de francais! Je vous aime! To my friends: It’s unbelievable that we’ve gone through all four years of high school together and have barely fought about anything. We always know how to make those last minute plans that end up turning into some of our most unforgettable mem-

ories. From walking to Publix for fries in the summer, to steak n shake Friday nights after the football games, we never let a dull moment catch us. I know the end of senior year is not the end of our friendships, which leads me to say I can’t for the next chapter in our lives to start so we can continue to make lasting memories! Love you all!

I, , being of sound mind and body, do hereby bequeath tbe Lassiter nation the memories of my years. From freshman year, and viewing the school as unending. Then on to sophomore year where I was really starting to think: Man, this is hard! From then went on to junior year. Uhm, can we say little sleep and a lot of stress? Though, I do believe the graduation tests were a bit overplayed. C’mon, we are in eleventh grade, I believe we all know refrigerators are in a shape of a sphere! Sheesh, get with the 21st century furniture at Ikea, test makers! That was a hard, but rewarding year. Now here I find myself at

Cassaundra Caldwell

I, , being of sound body and mind, do hereby bequeath the following possessions: To Stephanie I leave as much ice cream as possible, complete with slumber parties at which to consume it. I also leave with you the memories of crazy trips and even crazier jokes (T-hard!) Also I have dug up those repressed memories of us in middle school and believe me- you can keep them ALL! Finally, I leave with you the confidence that you can do anything you put your mind to with the comfort of knowing I’ll always be here for you.To Alex Lind! I leave you all of the movies we’ve yet to see, as well as the ones we could watch time and time again. I’m leaving

Hannah Sullivan

16 Kelsey Jonsson,

the years we’ve known each other, and that singing card. I promise to make an effort to travel to UGA as often as humanly possible so long as you get that slip ‘n slide I recommended; your roommate will love you for it, I’m sure. To Amrita - I leave you with memories of study sessions, making Austin watch those figure skating videos, and the ever-present marshmallow man. You will do just fine at Tech, and when you’re raking in $100,000,000 + a year as the first person to find a true cure for cancer, I’ll make sure to say “I told you so.” Until then, stay positive! Deep down, you know you’ll do well wherever you go. To “Orange,” then, I leave my Pikachu shirt, though it probably won’t fit you, those sometimes scary, sometimes silly PSA videos we exchanged, “OH GOD OH MAN,” and one of my two Pokémon games – you and Mary can duke it out for the best one. Shine on you crazy diamond, and work on getting the intro to “Bad Romance” down; I expect a demonstration the next time we see each other. To my 4 AP Lit. buddies as a whole – you guys are as fabulous as zebra-ostriches, and consequently, I’ve looked forward to that class nearly every single day. Keep up the awesome in college! To Adam,

I leave my “masterful” portraits of sloths, zebras, and weird sea creatures, as well as memories of our math class duets, even if I usually dropped out after the first three lines of each song. May the sloth army aid you in your conquest of the world as we know it, and may you find happiness in whichever place you choose to grace with your presence. To Brian, I leave my Bob Dylan documentary, the world’s supply of beige shirts, the knowledge that “I your love” is not an acceptable statement whatsoever, and memories of freakphones, ice princesses, Björk, and secret “lovas.” Remember, mon ami, “don’t follow leaders, and watch your parking meters.” To Zandra, I leave my Johnny Weir-esque headband, my funeral-friendly orchestra uniform, and the importance of pomegranates/ pomegranate juice. To Zandra, Brian, Griffin, and occasionally Laura, I leave every lunchtime memory, regardless of how awkward or bizarre. To Rachel, I leave you all the memories we’ve acquired over the 8 or so years we’ve known each other. You were the first person to befriend me upon my moving here, even though I was the weird new kid who was way too shy, and whose hair was way too long. I want

you to know that I have always been inspired by your unrelenting faith and your ability to successfully balance a healthy social life with your studies. In other words, you’re pretty stellar, and I am 100% certain that you will make this world a better place with your plans to bring medical care to those who have none, or very little. Next, to every friend and acquaintance I’ve yet to mention, consider yourselves mentioned. You’re all pretty excellent, and we’ve had some fun these past four years. Dan, Riley, Randi, Anj, Allison, Aubrey, Katherine, Caitlin, Margaret, the list goes on. I will miss you all, and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors – even if the most immediate of those is finishing up one more year here, for some of you, anyhow. Now, as my conclusion, I leave you with a summation of my life so far, one that most of those mentioned above have heard one to many times – “It’s like when I talk about buying a reissue of a ‘Land Of The Giants’ trashcan from 1969, to go along with my vintage ‘Planet Of The Apes’ trash-can I got off Ebay, because, obviously, one old science fiction trash-can manufactured for a child isn’t enough. I need two.”

made me think I was late!!!” We can’t eat marshmallow’s there’s pig in them, expect in Passover friendly ones but they taste like powder. “Did you do your Econ. Homework? No. Did you? No, that’s why I asked you.” Let’s not forget our video for the Middle East, “If We Can Do It You Can Too,” I will be there probably by the time we hang up this phone, I mean you do only live 3.7ish seconds away from my house so it will be faster if I don’t wear shoes, oh and you’re in your PJS that’s ok it will take longer to change then to just

come over haha. Don’t eat anything you might blow up! I will miss our random conversations. We pass notes to eat other old school style, literally right in front of the teacher’s eyes. So I was walking down the hallway and the person in front of me was walking so slow, and when I finally got around them the person that was in front of them just stopped, to talk about what happened the other night,TDL!!! I, , being of sound mind and body do bequeath the following to those who journey on and to those who remain: first, the table in the orchestra room to new freshmen. I’ve utilized it for book storage every day for the duration of my high school career instead of a locker and now they, too may forego the unnecessary strife of remembering locker codes. Ms. Doemel may, if she chooses, reclaim the table for her own use. I also bequeath the honor of being the sole cyclist in the school to

Christian, as long as he shall continue the tradition. For Kathryn Encisco and Katherine Ji: you may enjoy only having two Katherines in orchestra instead of three. To ‘the calc group,’ what can I say? So much rofling cannot be translated into ordinary speech. (Yop!) But, in return for all of the laughs and great times, I bequeath my recipe for brownies that all of you (especially Michelle and Sarah, remember how you oodled over the cream cheese brownies?) love so much. I’ll throw in the recipe for applesauce spice bars.

The entirety of our DVD collection I leave to Callie, one of my best friends who has been there through thick and thin. Mostly good times, of course. Free violin lessons* I bequeath to Jessie, *in exchange for French horn lessons. As well as an invite to a Star Wars fest, scheduled sometime this summer. (And Lord of the Rings. And Star Trek.) My calculator case I give to Sven (Sfen?). Thank you for ‘finding’ it. To Hanna Haines I leave a large French dictionary and the encouragement to keep speaking French! (Avez-vous chercher

chez Shae?) And to Rachel, I leave the recipe of the healthy almond-coconut brownies. But, since I’ve already given it to you, just know you’re the best friend one could have and you’ve made school a fun place to be. Lastly, to all of my teachers over the years: I wish you good luck in training another set of students to factor equations, write lab reports, rotate conics, learn world history, write research papers and cite sources, and of course be prepared for ‘the real world.’ We appreciate all of your time and effort. Best of luck!
