This renovation of a historic building in downtown Providence created a shared making shop facility for Rhode Island School of Design. To support interdisciplinary research and learning,RISD Co-Works offers a shared space for pursuing projects that require especially advanced tools and technology. At approximately 4,000 SF, the shop allows students and faculty to focus on the process of making and is a place for experimentation with materials as well as methods of fabrication. Co-Works’ equipment includes 3D printing, 3D scanning, a range of CNC equipment, laser cutting, vacuum forming, machine embroidery and knitting, industrial sewing, foam cutting, UV and large format printing, and more.
