The Public Vote! We need your help! Vote for your favourite act and help us complete the final line-up of performers for the second Dance Proms on Sunday 4th November at the Royal Albert Hall! We received a flood of video submissions from around 50 different locations across the UK and Ireland, encompassing 20 different dance styles. Thank you to everyone who entered their dance piece. The variety of dance styles you submitted is incredible: Ballet, Character, Cheerleading, Classical Greek, Contemporary, Disco, Freestyle, Latin American, Modern Ballroom, Modern Sequence, Modern Theatre including Jazz, Musical Theatre, Rock n Roll, Sequence, South Asian including Kathak and Bharatanatyam, Spanish, Street Dance including Hip Hop, and Tap, proving once more just how diverse and dynamic dance is and what a fantastic range of styles our members have to offer. The artistic panel had a very difficult task in narrowing down the selection but we have now chosen the final line-up of acts to perform at the Royal Albert Hall which will be announced in our next e-book. And now it’s time for The Public Vote to begin to determine the last act to go through! From now until Sunday 24 June we have published four dance videos on the Dance Proms website and we would like to call on you to help us choose one to appear on stage with the rest of the acts in November. Visit Dance Proms now and vote for your favourite! Remember, if you don’t vote, they won’t get to perform on the night so EVERY vote counts. The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) was formed in 1904 and is today a registered educational charity. The ISTD covers the full spectrum of dance examinations on a truly global scale. ISTD dance teachers are highly experienced in teaching children and adults in a variety of dance styles ranging from Ballet to Ballroom, Street to South Asian Dance, and Latin American to Tap. The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is one of the world’s most influential education and dance teacher training organisations. A registered charity, the RAD promotes knowledge, understanding and practice of dance internationally, and seeks to accomplish this through promoting dance, educating and training students and teachers and providing ballet examinations to set standards and reward achievement. The Royal Albert Hall, built to fulfil the vision of Prince Albert and promote both the arts and the sciences, has been in continuous use since it was opened in 1871. It is a registered charity that is held in trust for the nation and does not receive any public revenue funding. As one of the world’s most famous stages, it hosts music concerts, dance spectaculars, scientific conversations, sporting events and award ceremonies, as well as offering an extensive education programme and around 120 events a year in the Elgar Room and Café Consort to welcome younger artists and audiences into the building.
