★ Capital letters Write and picture-code lower case and capital y & Y and g & G on the board. Demonstrate or translate the capital letter stories: GG always gets into her go-kart to start a name. In her swing she is not looking in the Reading Direction (it makes her giddy), but in her go-kart, she has to see where she is going, so she does face the Reading Direction! When YYM starts an important word, he quickly empties out his heavy yo-yo’s so that he can step up onto the line to show us how important his word is. Notice that the characters’ capital letters appear TWICE in their own names. ★ Handwriting Book Pages 24, 25, 26 and 27

★ Big / little / grow Teach the words big, little and grow. Use chalkboard drawings or cut-outs, and/or mime a growing flower. I’m a little flower. I’m growing. Now I’m a big flower. Show a series of pictures or Vocabulary Cards. Can an apple grow? Can an acrobat grow? Can a car grow? Can a hat grow? Children could pretend to grow from little to big. A little apple can grow and grow … into a big apple. etc… ★ Student Book & CD page 48 ★ up / down / around Teach up, down and around, then play a game of ‘Golden Girl says… stand up / sit down, turn around’. Alternatively, play ‘Up, down and around’: Noses UP! …and down…up, down, up, down. Arms UP!…and down…up, down, up, down. Noses UP!…and around, around, around. etc… ★ Student Book and CD page 49
