Event Dedicated To Various Aspects Of The Medical Cannabis Industry

L

ES Israel held a successful event that was dedicated to various aspects of the Medical Cannabis Industry. The event was held in Tel Aviv, on May 7, 2019, and attracted over 60 participants from a wide array of sectors. Among them, attorneys and patent attorneys from law and patent offices; directors in industrial companies (e.g.: CEOs, IP directors, Business Development directors, R&D directors, etc.); scientists and officers from academic institutes; office holders in government ministries; entrepreneurs, etc. The event was titled: “The Medical Cannabis Industry—Navigate Between Legal/Regulatory Requirements And Business Opportunities.” The event provided an opportunity to understand the scientific and medical backgrounds in general, and the resulted challenges in particular, which followed by some examples of unique industrial solutions, as well as the legal, regulatory and intellectual property aspects of this field. A group of top tier presenters was assembled by Adv. Dalit Sagiv (LES Israel Secretary and board member) in order to cope with this ambitious goal. Conference—Latest Trends Of IP And Licensing Regulations In The Eurasian Union Countries

he conference “Latest trends of IP and licensing regulations in the Eurasian Union countries” was organized by the Chamber of Patent Attorneys of Russia, Belarusian Association of Patent Attorneys, Association “Belbrand” and LES Russia and was held in Minsk. LES Russia members: Natalia Karpova, Ph.D, Professor, Vice-President of LES Russia, the chairman of the department of The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration; Sergey Vasiliev, Ph.D., Senior Lawyer, Gorodissky & Partners; Sergey Medvedev, Ph.D., LL.M, Partner, Gorodissky & Partners; Svetlana Koroliova, Director, LexPatent; and Pavel Guerman, General Director, INTELS, moderated the following sessions: "Legislation on IP in the countries of the Eurasian Union: support or break," "Licensing: law and reality," "Franchising in the EAEU," "Geographical Indications," "New Disputes in IP: violations on the Internet, block-chain, personal data.” LES Russia members: Jennet Abduraimova, Trademark Attorney,

Head of Legal in the International Group of Companies INTELS; Daria Lando, Ph.D. Lawyer, LexPatent; Kamila Blagopoluchnaya, Head of IP of FjM International Solicitors & Lawyers, Germany; made presentations on “Business Case Analysis,” “Prevention of exclusive rights violations with the help of information protection technical means.” The conference was attended by representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Eurasian Patent Office, the National Center for Intellectual Property, Russian PTO, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, the Federal Institute for Industrial Property, and leading lawyers in the field of IP. The issues of protection and enforcement of IP in the Republic of Belarus, Russian Federation and other countries were discussed at the conference. The event was attended by about 150 experts from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Finland, Germany, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Latvia and Moldova. ■
