APRESENTAÇÃO Ori Dança é um espetáculo de dança teatral inspirado no universo religioso afrobrasileiro, de onde sete divindades originárias do Candomblé (religião) são destacadas e homenageadas.

A montagem é multidisciplinar e multicultural, dialogando com outras artes e culturas e envolvendo assim, profissionais de diferentes linguagens artísticas (artes plásticas, vídeo, música, dança, teatro etc.) e nacionalidades (Brasil e Bélgica).

O projeto artístico busca não somente o êxito de um espetáculo, mas também fazer uma investigação da linguagem cênica, discutindo um fazer teatral e suas ressonâncias na cena contemporânea no que diz respeito à atuação do intérprete criador.

PRESENTATION Ori Dança is a theatrical dance performance inspired by the religious Afro-Brazilian universe, from which, seven deities of the Candomblé religion are highlighted and honored.

The result is multidisciplinary and multicultural, involving professionals from different artistic backgrounds (visual arts, video, music, dance, theater, e.o.) and nationalities (Brazil and Belgium).

The project seeks not only to be a success on stage but also to research theatrical language, discussing its impact on the contemporary art scene with respect to the role of the performer creator.

CREATION PROCESS

O acesso à verdadeira dança sagrada dos guardiões das cabeças não é fácil.

In Brazil, the worship places of the Candomblé religion are guarded by Babalorixás (m.) and Yalorixás (f.) which roughly translates into ‘Guardians of the Saints’. They are charged with the task of performing a multitude of rituals that constitutes the Candomblé cult, amongst others the sacred dance of the Orishas (gods).

No Brasil, as comunidades de candomblés (casas religiosas) são guardadas por Babalorixás (zeladores de santo) e Yalorixás (Zeladoras de santo). São eles os responsáveis por manter uma infinidade de rituais em que se constitue o culto no qual se insere a dança sagrada dos Orixás (Deuses).

O bailarino e coreógrafo Mano Amaro transita nesse universo desde a infância uma vez que sua mãe é zeladora de santo. O trabalho coreográfico surge, portanto, de uma pesquisa que envolve a própria identidade do artista resultando numa leitura dos arquétipos do Olimpo afro-brasileiro por intermédio da dança contemporânea.

A combinação dos outros artistas envolvidos contextualiza o prjeto no que diz respeito à musica, às imagens.

Todos estes elementos se entrelaçam para magnificar o sagrado. Desta forma procura-se atingir os propósitos de uma linguagem contemporânea que supera e afasta as noções de ‘Folclore’.

The access to the true guardians of the sacred dance of the head is not easy, but for dancer and choreographer Mano Amaro this has always been his universe.

With his mother being a Yalorixá, he was introduced to the ancient rites of Candomblé from an early age.

The choreography arises from the very identity of the artist. The result is a personal interpretation of the archetypes of Afro-Brazilian deities through contemporary dance.

The other artists involved contextualize the project in relation to music and images. These different elements are woven together to magnify the Holy, and to overcome, and dispel the notions of ‘Folklore’.

SINOPSE ORI é uma denominação dada a cabeça física. A cabeça é a parte mais proeminente porque na vida real é a parte mais vital do corpo humano.

ORIXÁ: O guardião da cabeça.

Os Deuses (Os Orixás) homenageados neste espetáculo são: EXÚ: O falo que desobstrui os canais, caminhos, o falo que fala, ele é o mensageiro.

OGUM: A espada do guerreiro da luz, que nos defende e vence o bom combate.

OXUM: O espelho d’ouro que nos traz a riqueza das aguas doces e cristalinas.

OXOSSI: O caçador, o arco e a flecha que trazem a nutrição das suas matas, onde reina a abundância.

XANGÔ: O justiceiro, o machado de dois gumes que corta as injustiças, as ignorâncias, trazendo o equilibrio da sabedoria.

IANSÃ: A rainha das tempestades, o raio mágico da energia que nos traz a vitalidade e a força para irmos a luta.

OXALÁ: A pomba da paz, é a luz que todos precisam, ele também é o criador do universo.

Cada Orixá é traduzido em diferentes qualidades de movimentos que somados trazem ao palco uma dança rica, vigorosa e poética.

SYNOPSIS In Candomblé, an Orixa is a spirit or deity that reflects one of the manifestations of Olodumare (God). ORI literally means ‘head’ in the Yoruba language and the head is perceived as the most prominent and vital part of the human body.

ORIXÁ is ‘The guardian of the head’.

The Orixas honoured in this show are: EXÚ: He is the messenger, the protector of travelers, deity of roads, the deity with the power over fortune and misfortune, and the personification of death.

OGUM: The warrior of light, who presides over fire, iron, hunting, politics and war.

OXUM: She is the goddess of the rivers, of money, and of love.

OXOSSI: He is a hunter and protector of Nature.

XANGÔ: The righteous, the double-edged ax that cuts through injustice and ignorance, bringing back the balance of wisdom.

IANSÃ: Queen of the storms, the magical beam of energy that brings vitality and strength to go to battle.

OXALÁ: Represents the Lord’s Light, the Beginning, the dove of peace, the creator of the universe.

Each Orisha is translated into different qualities of movement bringing a rich, powerful and poetic dance.
