Leo Mongillo Law Reproductive Rights of an Individual

Reproductive rights are the right of an individual. It includes access to sex education, birth control methods, the right to bring up children, the right to decide whether to have a family or not. It is a person’s right to decide about reproduction and reproductive health. There is a lot of controversy surrounding reproductive rights. Many countries have different rules that govern reproductive rights. The advocates of reproductive rights face problems with the moral police. Even though reproduction is a personal issue. It remains the most debated political issue. According to Leo Mongillo the most common topics discussed under reproductive rights are:

Sex Education in School: There is a general controversy about whether it is necessary to provide sex education in school. The governments cannot decide the extent of sex education imparted in schools. People in favor of sex education in schools argue that sex education helps in reducing teenage pregnancies and cases of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD). Opponents of this view believe that school is not appropriate for sex education. They advocate that the parents should be the ones to educate their children about sex. The debaters of sex education cannot decide the curriculum of sex education. Opponents believe that children should practice abstinence, while advocates believe that correct information is the key to better reproductive health.

Abortion: It is the most discussed topic all over the world. There are two views regarding abortion. One is pro-life, and the other is pro-choice. The section of people who believe in pro-life is against abortion. They believe that the foetus has a life even before it is born, and nobody has the right to kill the foetus. The pro-choice people believe that it is the individual’s choice to have the baby or not. Most states have legalized abortion. The federal laws allow unquestioned access to abortion services and resources. The procedure of abortion is free for all women who seek it. Surgical and noninvasive abortion procedures are provided on request and are confidential for women of all ages.

Birth Control: The most common contraceptive method is the birth control pill. It is provided free by the government. The researchers have found evidence that people used birth control pills even back in the day. Birth control is an integral part of the health care system of a country. People believed that women should have children only if they wanted children and could raise them properly. Proper birth control methods help in improving marital relationships. The health of the mothers is a big concern when it comes to unplanned pregnancies. The groups that advocate birth control believe that birth control is a gateway to a better society. During the second world war, most countries saw a sudden boom in pregnancies. People realized the importance of proper birth control methods.
