Brussels Airlines

one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe

Brussels Airlines saw major increases in its passenger numbers for both 2015 and 2014, now more than 30% higher than in 2013. With these results, Brussels Airlines is one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe. Keeping the momentum, the carrier is strengthening its network and leveraging synergies with shareholder and partner Lufthansa.

“We have repositioned ourselves in the market, to give our intra-European passengers a choice of four different travel solutions that better meet today’s traveller needs in terms of service, choice and price” explains Geert Sciort, Brussels Airline’s Head of Communications. “This, along with our network expansion, has given a new dynamic to Brussels Airlines.” Effectively Brussels Airlines is growing its network, based on a well-defined strategy, enhanced by the destinations offered by the Lufthansa group of airlines. With its winter timetable, Brussels Airlines has added seven new airports and increased flight frequencies to others.

European schedule

Five of the winter additions are in Europe. “With Zagreb we link to the capital of a new EU member state, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Faro fit will in our leisure flight ambitions, while Bremen is a good example of our strategy to connect important business cities” explains Geert Sciot. Bremen is the fourth German city for Brussels Airlines, following Berlin, Hamburg and Hannover. “We do indeed have a strong focus on Germany” says Geert Sciot. “There is a big demand for convenient air travel to and from various regions of the country and with our partner and shareholder Lufthansa, we also provide direct flights from Brussels to Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart.”

Long haul network – US and Africa

Brussels Airlines flies to two gateways in the US. The New York JFK link, served throughout the year, has become one of the most popular transatlantic routes from Brussels. Flights to Washington are offered in the summer schedule only. Furthermore, just announced is the fact that Brussels Airlines will be introducing flights to Toronto this spring. Thanks to Brussels Airline’s cooperation with its Star Alliance partner, United, passengers can connect on to a multitude of other destinations in the US, Canada and South America. Africa, has always been a cornerstone of Brussels Airlines network, and the aim is to offer more and more links to the continent. This winter sees new direct flights to Kigali in Rwanda and to the Ghanian capital Accra, in a ‘flight swap’ with Lufthansa who will now take over services to Nairobi. Flight frequencies to Lome, capital of Togo, have been doubled to four times per week. Brussels Airlines now offers a total of 19 destinations in Africa. “The goal of Brussels Airlines is to offer a 360-degree short and medium haul network, direct from our hub to the most important European capitals and regions” summarises Geert Sciot. “Over the years, we have also added a focus on popular seasonal leisure destinations. Our long haul ambition is to be a leading airline between Europe and Africa and to serve selected destinations in the US. Thanks to our attractive new commercial positioning we can now develop our network with more destinations, season after season.” | THE CORPORATE TRAVELLER.BE
