Best way to Reset a Lenovo Thinkpad X131e Chromebook

If you have planned to sell your Chromebook and want to wipe its data so that no one can miss use that then, there are various ways to perform this task. If you have created an Admin account on it then you first need to put into Developer Mode in order to clean and re-enroll it. However, in the case of personal Chromebook, you just need to use simple tool in the Settings menu.


STEP: 1

Log into the Chromebook, You can use the powerwash tool to reset your Lenovo Chromebook. If you can not sign into the Chromebook, Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R during the login screen to start the powerwash process. You can not back up data unless you can log in.


STEP: 2

Save all important data. Any data stored locally on the Chromebook will be erased during reset. Please save all important data to Google Drive before proceeding with the reset.


STEP: 3

Click on your account picture and select "Settings". This opens the Chromebook Settings menu.

Click on the "Show advanced settings". Additional settings are displayed.


STEP: 5

Locate the "Powerwash" section and click "Powerwash." Click "Restart" to confirm.


STEP: 6

Click "Reset" in the new window that appears. This is the last chance to complete the reset process.


STEP: 7

Wait for the setup screen to appear. After a few moments, you'll be directed to the Chromebook's setup screen. You can set up the Chromebook as if it were new and enter your Google Account information.


STEP: 8

Request unregistering of your device (if necessary). If you've picked up your Chromebook second hand and are viewing the Sign In screen, you'll need to request the registration.
