SAMISians elect new SC members...

On November 3, 2022, students from middle school and high school gather to vote for this year’s SC members. The other newly elected members are Abed Alrhman Akkad, the Executive Secretary; Saif Abdulelah, the Director for Values, Peace and Order; Zeyad Kamel, the Director for Sports and Competition; and Abdulaziz Alzahrani, the Director of Finance.

“I plan on making this [batch] one of SAMIS’ best Student Council, and to do so, we must make sure to walk as much as we talk. Being the first batch with new [SC] rules, we cannot rely on past platforms or plans because they are irrelevant when compared to this new system,” Essam stated.

Some of the platforms of the new SC members are focused on personal and academic growth. These ideas include the search for multiple activities and competitions inside and outside the school. Essam also assures the student body that they will be shoulders for students to lean on.

The president even gave a hint on an event that is coming up.” I cannot say a lot, buT all I can convEy is that an event is coming up, so stay prepareD and eXcellent.”

Essam was asked what he would do when he is opposed by his members and expressing his open-mindedness, he stated, “I always like to come to a middle ground. I was chosen to accept or deny proposals and to act on them”. Essam promises that every idea will be heard, and meetings will be held to make them realistic, but decisions will be made in accordance to the school’s vision, mission, and goals.

Mr. Martin Kit Guzman, the Student Council coordinator, states that the results are satisfactory. Prior to the election results, Mr. Guzman expressed trust in the candidates stating, “the school is in good hands whoever wins”.

As for the hopeful Abdalla Sabir, Grade 8, he said, "I am are loooking forward to what the new student council members can do. I can't wait to what projects they can implement and accomplish this school year for the benefit of all the SAMISians."
