ANNUAL

ministry year

REPORT

Aloha New Hope Leeward `Ohana! This past ministry year (August, 2012 through July, 2013) was one of our most remarkable years yet at New Hope Leeward! Over the last twelve months we experienced many moments where God showed up in awesome ways to remind us how faithful and great He is! I am reminded of the Apostle Paul’s words, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32 NIV). We have seen how God truly is for us and how His hand of anointing continues to be on us! In the last ministry year, God has increased our weekly attendance by a staggering 33%! Our Christmas attendance alone was up by 35% and our Easter celebrations welcomed over 10,000 people! We were named by Outreach Magazine as one of the 100 fastest growing churches in America – 4 years in a row (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)! Not only did our church grow in attendance, we also witnessed countless lives growing deeper and stronger in Christ. Whether it was through Water Baptism, Membership, Financial Peace, community outreaches or our Next Gen ministries, God is working in a mighty way in and through New Hope Leeward! It is such an honor and a privilege to be a part of a church that is so passionate about transforming lives in a real and relevant way! As we all look forward to the future, we see God stretching us into a multi-site church with campuses throughout Leeward Oahu and possibly beyond! We continue to be ready in obedience towards our Promised Land by focusing not on building a big church, but BIG disciples for Christ! Let’s continue to follow the pillar of God’s fire as He leads us into our most extraordinary days ahead! Following the Fire Together!

NHL CORE VALUES Our values define who we are

01. We Believe that every person, Christian and non-Christian alike, is valuable to God and to His Kingdom.

Because people are eternally valuable to God, they are to us as well. Responsible evangelism will always be our cause and ongoing discipleship will always be the core of the ministry. Matthew 18:14; Matthew 25:45; 2 Peter 3:9

02. We Believe that “doing church as a team” is God’s design for effective ministry. A Spirit-empowered serving with the willing hearted involvement of every person is vital to God's plan

03.

being accomplished. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; Psalm 133:1; Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Peter 2:4-9

We Believe that a simple presentation of Jesus Christ in creative ways will impact and transform lives.

Relating to our culture through redeeming the arts while remaining true to the Scriptures is a balance we will always

04.

keep. This allows us to present the Gospel in such a way that reaches the heart. 1 Corinthians 9:22, 23; Acts 17:22-34

In Keeping with the Great Commandment, we believe every member should commit to a lifestyle of consistent spiritual growth with honest accountability.

A genuine love for God is always the first priority. Every Christian should yearn for continual spiritual growth. Therefore, discipleship through small groups, accountability, and open honesty is critical to maturing in our faith.

Mark 12:29-31; Acts 2:44-47; 1 Peter 2:2; 1 Timothy 4:7, 8; Proverbs 27:17

05.

We Believe that every member is a minister who has been given gifts to be discovered, developed, and deployed.

We are a gift-based, volunteer driven church. Each believer will find his greatest joy and fulfillment when serving in his spiritual gifts and passion. Every believer is created for ministry, gifted forministry, authorized for ministry, and needed for ministry. Mark 10:45; Ephesians 2:10; Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12:14-20

06.

We Believe that God is worthy of our very best. Therefore, a growing spirit of excellence should permeate every activity.

07.

God are distinctive of growing ministries. Psalm 78:72; Daniel 5:12; Colossians 3:17; Ecclesiastes 10:10

We Believe that genuine love and caring relationships are key to the life of every endeavor.

08.

Not perfection but excellence with consistent evaluation and a willingness to improve for the sake of the Kingdom of

Refusing to give audience to a spirit of complaining, we will instead be courageous in solving every problem in a way that honors God and builds biblical character. We value healthy relationships by protecting the unity of the Spirit in our church. James 1:2, 3; 1 Peter 3:8, 9; 1Corinthians 13:8; Romans 16:17; Ephesians 4:3

We Believe that the most effective evangelism happens through people inviting people. We believe that a life will reach a life.

Each believer develops genuine relationships with friends and family and extends an invitation to them. Evangelism gets to be a normal, natural lifestyle of winning others to Christ, one by one. Proverbs 11:30; John 1:43-45; John 4:28-30

09. We Believe in identifying and training emerging leaders who are fully committed to Christ and who will reach their generation with the Gospel.

God is raising up men and women who will take the baton of godly character, authentic faith, and servant-hearted leadership into the next generation. 2 Timothy 2:2; 1 Timothy 3:1; Titus 1:5-9; Psalm 78:6, 7

our PURPOSE Our purpose defines why we exist. New Hope Leeward exists to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in such a way that turns non-Christians into converts, converts into disciples, and disciples into mature, fruitful leaders who will in turn go into the world and reach others for Christ.

The Great Commandment

“‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39 NLT)

our MISSION

Our mission defines what we do. Lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Great Commission

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.
And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:18-20 NLT)
