You will have many opportunities to take classes across the core curriculum, and we offer plenty of elective options as well to help you explore your interests. burton center The Burton Center for Student Success offers assistance to students through academic advising, tutoring services, writing assistance and more. They work with each student to discover the path that will lead to individual success.
Academic Advising Faculty and staff are dedicated to offering quality academic advising. In your first year, your academic advisor will be your seminar professor. As you move into your major, you will be paired with a faculty advisor from your major that will guide you through your final years here.
Learning Commons The Dotti M. Shelton Learning Commons provides innovative and engaging learning opportunities. In addition to its more than 70,000 books and other forms of media, the learning commons features a café, classrooms, group study rooms and a main-floor lounge.

You’ll enjoy a social and energetic community while living in one of 11 on-campus housing options. Student housing includes residence halls, suites, apartments and houses. Your options will increase as you become an upperclassman.
Grab a bite at MacDonald Dining Hall, the main cafeteria; Wily’s Bar & Grill, a great place for a sandwich or Starbucks® coffee; Einstein Bros. Bagels, located in the campus bookstore; or the P.O.D., a place for a quick snack in the learning commons.
A variety of clubs and organizations are available through the Student Development Office, including servicebased sororities and fraternities. If there isn’t a club for your interest, it’s not complicated to start a new club of your own!

Get outside and take in the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains. Outdoor Programs offers a variety of ways to explore year-round. Even when the weather’s not so great, you’ll have indoor options to get your adrenaline rush, such as conquering the climbing wall in the Student Recreation Complex.
What would a college campus be without traditions? For us, Mountain Day in the fall and Mountain Day of Service in the spring are big ones that we look forward to each year. You’ll enjoy a day away from classes as the campus comes together for fellowship, service and fun.
Career Services It’s never too early to start planning for life after college. Career Services helps you get ahead of the game with resume and cover letter guidance, practice interviews, networking, internship and job searches, and more. You’ll even meet potential employers on campus at career and graduate school fairs.

The earlier you file the FAFSA, the better! Starting October 1, students can submit a FAFSA application. Admitted students typically begin to receive their financial aid award notification early in the new year if their FAFSA was filed early.

How do I submit My Application Requirements? Official Transcripts: Request high school transcripts from your guidance counselor*. Request college transcripts from the registrar. *If your guidance counselor has a copy of your test scores, they can be sent along with your transcripts.
Scores: Request official test scores and AP/IB/CLEP scores from the official testing site. Did you know that Lees-McRae is a testoptional institution? This means that ACT/SAT scores are not required for students who feel that these exams do not adequately represent their academic abilities. Academic departments
The Elk Valley Preserve and Field Station is the centerpiece of the Wildlife Biology program. The 70-acre preserve is located on the Elk River just minutes from campus and includes a variety of terrestrial and aquatic habitats typical of the Southern Appalachians. The 1,500 square foot field station is a fully-operational ecology lab equipped with field and lab gear for student projects and research.
