QUANTUM PHYSICS sur real, dream sc a pe, paradox

If quantum mechanics is correct, what seems obvious and right in our ever yday world is built on foundations that do not seem obvious or right at all—or even possible. Quantum physics has a reputation of being weird because its predictions are dramatically unlike our ever yday experience. The wor ld of quantum phenomena is full of par adoxes incomprehensible to human intuition and inexplicable to classical physics. It is the study of matter and ener gy at its most fundamental level. A centr al tenet of quantum physics is that energy comes in indivisible packets called quanta. Quanta behave ver y differently to macroscopic matter : par ticles can behave like waves, and waves behave as though they are par ticles. In order to under stand quantum physics, you have to throw all sense of logic out the window. Why? Unlike classical physics, quantum physics does not honor the same logic that applies to our ever yday surroundings. Quantum par ticles follow a different set of laws—laws which, to date, we still do not fully under stand.

A COLLECTIVE DREAM INVENTORY A DREAMSC APE One of the core principles of Quantum Physics is the idea that reality exists in infinite possible states until we obser ve it and thus collapse all potential ver sions of reality into the one single option we choose to live inside. We wake up from dreams but not from reality. The waking world is just a series of concept and ideas created by our minds. Does the dreamed person in our dreams ever wake up from it? Or does reality just end for them? How are we sure that when we sleep that is not a waking experience for another dreamer, the dreamer who is dreaming us. What is a reality?

The graphics involves viewers in an engaging and humorous manner about the connection between dreams and reality. Each por tion of the banner depicts a unique dream contributed by a dreamer and as the viewer progresses through the work , he embarks on an intimate journey with the ar t piece and is led to for m his own interpretation of those dreams.

FINAL BANNER A COLLECTIVE DREAM INVENTORY Using selected motifs from my initial drawings, I created this banner s which prompts viewer s to ponder a to question the connection between dreams and reality. The concept is presented with a ver tical narrative where the banner is meant to be read from the bottom to the top and by doing so, the viewer would get a sense and flow of the stor y depicted here. At the bottom of the banner, a headless man strung to a mobile is given the choice to pick a head and each head is unique and that signifies the different dreams we have that are unique to us. When the head is attached, he is transpor ted on the rocket into the dream wor ld. In the dream wor ld, the man progresses through a series of dreams ( which I have collected from my friends and illustrated them here–my parents turn into colourful jelly blobs and tried to push me out of the kitchen window;

I cracked out of and egg and a yellow man star ted chasing after me; I pulled a strand of hair off my dads back and it was never-ending; I was playing hide-and-seek with my friends and my teacher found us, when he touches us, out limbs turn into honey; I was at the print shop and my friend was there too, only as a half swan half human form ). As always, all dreams come to an end. When the viewer reaches the end of the dream scape. The head detattaches and the cycle begins again. Does the dreamed per son in our dreams ever wake up from it? Or does reality just end for them? How are we sure that when we sleep that is not a waking experience for another dreamer, the dreamer who is dreaming us. What is a reality?

MEDIA ART WALL A COLLECTIVE DREAM INVENTORY I had a bit of a problem with the landscape layout for the media ar t wall as my banner was done with linear narrative where it is meant to be seen from bottom to the top and this sequence of viewing reveals the stor y and concept behind the work. Working with a landscape layout, I had to make some adjustments to my illustrations and rework cer tain par t so that it would blend togther as a whole. I also applie gradient to the background so that I could show a transition in the dream state yet ensure that there is still a smooth progression and not an abrupt and harsh change of colour.

APPLIC ATION MY MERCHANDISES I thought that the vibrant colour palette I chose to adopt would be suitable as gift wrappers as the vivid colours hints at a rather joyous tone.

The cheeky yet brightly coloured graphics too work well on children’s clothing as they appear fun and also rhythmic.
